Firefox hangs on a particular site

Whenever I go to NYtimes.com, Firefox crashes. I have checked that FF and plug-ins are up to date, remove the cookies from the Nytimes, cleared the cache and tried the site in loading safe mode. No luck yet.

Thanks for your help.

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problem.

See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile already used in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.

If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.

  • Do NOT remove the "personal data" when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords including data profiles created by other versions of Firefox.

Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but do NOT delete personal data when you uninstall Firefox which removes all Firefox profile folders and you lose your data.

  • DW hangs on a particular site

Let me preface this by saying that I had worked with DW8 (upgrade to MX2004 for more than one year) on a Dell Dimension 8400 running Windows XP Home Edition (hey, that's what he's come up with) with lots of free space on the drive and 2 GB of RAM. I've developed or worked on more than 100 websites with this installation. Several of my colleagues have worked on some of the same sites with their facilities.

Recently, on a site that I've been working on for more than a year, Dreamweaver suddenly started breaking. ONLY, it crashes when this site is particularly open. I deleted the definition of site and tried to make a new site. It will crash on the contribution of the new site, if the Cache is enabled. By uncheck activate the Cache, it will set the site definition.

If I open DW this site opened, there is a folder called 'design' which, if opened, blocks DW. Sometimes it is immediate, sometimes it takes several seconds, sometimes it will not crash until I open a file in this folder.

It crashes also on other computers in this office when this site is opened.

    What I did:

Several of the recommended patches and of the workarounds without success, so I...
Uninstalled DW and downloaded the Free Trial Version of CS3 - it still crashes.
    So, I REINSTALLED WINDOWS!
Reinstalled the trial of CS3. He is BREEZE ALWAYS.

This site should have some files that DW can't treat. I will start to move the files in the site folder in an attempt to isolate it, but someone has any ideas on how to speed up this process? I like Dreamweaver and talk my boss into buying CS3, but first, I need to fix this...

AHA! FYI... Dreamweaver cannot deal with a style sheet containing elements not valid @media. I used by mistake one point instead of a comma separating two elements @media and it's DW to Issac. I'm all good now. OFF to get the boss credit card.

  • Firefox Hangs w/memory leak on ynet.co.il only

Since a few days ago Firefox started to hang and freeze when I go to http://www.Ynet.co.il/

This problem starts when I spend 2-3 minutes on the site and then it starts to stutter/freeze and in Manager windows task, you can see the use of ram in Firefox will continuously upward and up while what is happening.

Finally, I have no other choice than to close the tab ynet.co.il , or forcefully to restart Firefox.

The funny thing is that this only happens on this one particular site! I have absolutely no problem on any other website. I even tried to open 20 + tabs at the same time several times just to see how it might affect performance, and there is no problem. Only on ynet.co.il made this keep happening.

I updated to Firefox 31 to 32, but this does not solve the problem.

I also tried to delete places.sqlite and let Firefox rebuild in the case where it has been corrupted, but that does not solve the problem either.

I was not trying to uninstall and reinstall Firefox I did so many customizations to him, he would take me some time to restore it to how it is now, and I want to only do this as a last resort.

Also, HAPPENS ON ynet.co.il, it seems like a problem specific to the site!

    Can anyone help please?

You can delete the above-mentioned blocking filter now and manually update EasyList:

    1. Click the Adblock Plus icon and click Filter Preferences.
    2. Click the Subscriptions tab.
    3. Right click on each subscription and choose Update filters.
  • Firefox crashes on many different sites - possibly caused by Flash

When you browse several different sites, Firefox hangs on the crash report, this seems to happen more on Tumblr and YouTube so im thinking that it may possibly be Flash?

I post the crash report, but I do not remember how to, sorry

If you keep problems also create a new profile.

    You can also see malware.

  • How can I make Firefox STOP frequently connect off sites when I selected "remember me"?

I have FF 24.0 now, but what happened through several versions, and becomes more frequent. (Win 7 x 64, 8G ram, disk 1 t)

I always check "remember me" and "save this password" to sites like Facebook, Google + and many others still keep connect me, to the * less * every day and sometimes several times a day, so I have to connect everywhere today I had the frustration of being disconnected from a forum with every refresh of a page! (I am connected, press 'answer' and all of a sudden, "Sorry, you must log on to this!" HUH?)

I don't care if cookies never expire and no one else that my husband only has access to my computer and we know each and other passwords in any case.

I hope I can fix without reinstall firefox or delete the profile, because I have a bookmarks file large enough and about 9 Add ons to reinstall, more various plug-ins!

I begin to suspect its related to the race out of cache space-sites can't remember me when the cache is full? Since its fair to the max (he said 350 max, now he says 500), I empty the cache whenever I noticed full. I do not now clear until after he me disconnected several times.

Firefox should cut the cache for you automatically when he approaches of fullness. This would not affect your cookies.

It is possible that cookies are deleted or expired out at regular intervals by an add-on or external software.

Another possibility is that there is some sort of conflict or corruption with your cookies. You can delete all cookies for a particular site (e.g. Google) using the Page Info dialog box. While displaying a page on the site, try either:

    • Right click and select View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies".
    • ALT + t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies".

In the dialog box that opens, you can delete cookies from the site individually.

If all goes well after your next connection any conflict or corruption will be resolved.

I note also you have an extension that connects to Gmail on your behalf. As test, try to disable X-notify here:

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Extensions category

Typically, a link will appear above a disability to restart Firefox extension. If so, which is necessary for the change to take effect.

    Any improvement?

Some sites to check not only the cookie but also other details of your connection as your computer's IP address. If it changes then you may need to re-authenticate. This was reported in some cases with Yahoo or the AOL network (including the Huffington Post) sites when the Firefox connection setting is set to "Auto-detect". You can check here:

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced > mini-onglet "Network" > "Settings" button

The default setting is "Use system proxy settings" and you could also try 'no proxy '.

If you are using an anonymisation service or the VPN private to disguise your real IP address, which could also be a problem.

    Hello Mike.

It is possible that you have a problem with some Add on Firefox which is an obstacle to the normal behavior of your Firefox. Have you tried to disable all add-ons (just to see) to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you must make sure that it is not caused by one (or more) of your installed modules, whether an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do this easily and cleanly, start Firefox in safe mode (remember to select disable all add-ons when you start safe mode). If the problem goes away, you know that it's an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode and allow them one by one until you find the source of the problem. See this article for more information on troubleshooting extensions and theme and this one for plugins.

If you need help with one of your modules, you will need to contact the author.

  • Field has been redirected correctly but only Firefox go to the old site

I built a new website for a client whose domain is registered with GoDaddy. The URL has been updated in GoDaddy and verified with one of their technicians. All other browsers I've tried going on the new site, but Firefox displays always the old site. The domain is http://www.auburnsummermusiccamp.com, the old site was hosted on Google and the new site is at http://www.karlinlouiseimrie.com/auburnmusic/. Firefox is my normal browser so I only tried other browsers when GoDaddy has confirmed that the redirect worked although I still got the old site. I tried to clear the cache and history.

The URL without www. prefix redirects and presents the new website in an iframe:

    <frameset rows="100%,*" border="0">
      <frame src="http://www.karlinlouiseimrie.com/auburnmusic/index.php" frameborder="0" />
      <frame frameborder="0" noresize />
    </frameset>

With the www. the prefix I get the old domain, then maybe you should ask to redirect this area as well.

  • After that 5 weeks back to Japan, Firefox still gives me Japanese sites - for example, search for 'cat' in ff and I get Japanese wikipedia, the same search in English product Safari. Boring!

After his return from 5 weeks to the Japan, Firefox still gives me Japanese sites - for example, if I search for 'cat' in Google using Firefox and I get Japanese Wikipedia and a whole bunch of other Japanese sites. If I repeat the same search in Safari, I get the English Wikipedia. I read Japanese, but this does not mean that I want all the time! How can I fix?

Clear the cache and cookies from sites that cause problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Firefox > Preferences > advanced > network > storage (Cache) offline: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Firefox > Preferences > privacy > Cookies: "show the Cookies".
  • Firefox closes when editing Web sites

I get a dialog box indicating that Firefox is running but does not, and that, to clean it, I have to restart my computer. At the 10th, or if that happens one day, it becomes just a little challenging.
