Randomly when I search in the search box I get redirected to Bing.

Somehow, Firefox browser seems to have been hijacked by so-called "mydomainadvisor". When I type a URL in Firefox, I get redirected to a "file not found" page with a different address. Tried to delete browsing history, temporary internet files and any file containing that Word, but no change. Searched for all files with the same name on my computer and even made restore sys, but its still there. AVG etc does not. Any suggestions?

Make a check of malware with some scan of malware programs. You need to scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database prior to scanning.

  • Firefox hijacked on various websites (for most games facebook and such but others too) at random times.

I'll be on a site and suddenly it will redirect to another site. This can happen at any time, sometimes as soon as a window, sometimes the window can be opened for a period of time before it happened or may not happen at all. It doesn't have any link to this site I am on (the same site can immediately redirect once and not an hour of the next). I can always use the back browser button to return to the original site. About 75% of the time in this case, I find myself on a login page Facebook and when I come back I see the original redirect went to some Facebook game/meetings/or some of these sites, none of which I have never used. I do not have Facebook but I do nothing on it except go to my wall to see photos and messages from my family (5 ' friends'). I've never even posted a comment. The other 20% of the time, he goes to various sites like surveys, supports your vet.org, or those with letters and numbers just randomly.
Regarding the question "It happened" that follows I often 3-5 windows open at a time and it will happen 20 or 30 times less than an hour 4 window.
I tried Internet Explorer and Google Chrome since it started, and this has not affected one of them. I even tried to run each at the same time as Firefox and they are kept, while Firefox pages were diverted.

Hi mha007, I ran Firefox 2 days in mode 'safe' with no redirects, then 2 days normal running with no redirects, so the problem seems to be resolved. I ran RogueKiller so I guess he must have eliminated some maleware was the origin of the problem. Thank you for your help.

If you are referring to the keyword search that is made from the address bar, just take a glance at article in the Knowledge Base Search the web from the address bar. It will give you all the information you need to go back to Google.

  • Need Firefox & Bing and when I open Firefox I ref A and string; then when I get to Bing, no bookmarks toolbar, etc. or way to access messages.

I did my browser Bing and it was working fine until today. When I open Firefox I get a message: Ref, then a long string of characters. I click on the Home icon and string changes. After doing this several times, I get the Bing search page. I don't get the startup of Firefox bookmark with the toolbar that has my book, history etc.. I can't clear the cache, if I can't the history tab. If I'm going to the mozilla firefox program folder and open it, there are a tool bar but can't erase recent history, etc. it. I don't have an administrator and a password on my home desktop. It's just me. I tried to follow your suggestions, but they do not apply to my situation. I don't really know if it is a firefox problem or bing. I've used google before bing and had no problems; I just wanted to try bing.

    You can attach a screenshot?

Use a type of compressed as PNG or JPG image to save the screenshot.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

I was able to open it with Internet Explore. but at some point given, I uninstalled internet Explorer, and now I can't get the Bing toolbar to open in firefox. Can someone help me please? Hi Rachel,

I understand that you are unable to open the Bing toolbar in Firefox.

Bing bar for Firefox interrupted because of a security issue with the version of Firefox to the Bing toolbar.

  • Firefox uses the page host internet explorer after restarting the PC, even if I change again, it passes every time

I use a laptop for my work. I have internet explore what is necessary for our things work related and internet intranet explore uses the intranet homepage of our work. I also use firefox and want to use a different home page (IE Bing, google, whatever...). So things work related I use IE, for web browsing of non-working, I use firefox. Recently whenever I reboot my PC and launch firefox, firefox uses my Explorer (working on the intranet) home page internet. I then easily reset on my preference (bing.com) and as long as the PC is on, if I close and Open firefox it keeps bing.com as my home page. I could do this 20 x and it will keep the bing.com homepage. However when I shut down and restart the PC, firefox goes back to the use of the IE homepage (on the intranet of the work). Is there a permanent way to fix this. Our IT Department has been no help. Started a week before what is happening they upgraded our computers to internet explore 11. I tried to reset Firefox but that does not solve the problem.

Hi hunted, something is change or replace your prefs.js file.

Maybe you can thwart it by creating a user.js file. This file is read at startup of Firefox and replace prefs.js. Basically, it only needs a single line, if you could open prefs.js in a text editor after you have corrected to the homepage preference, use Save as to create user.js and then remove all the lines and save/close.

    More information on user.js: http://kb.mozillazine.org/User.js_file

  • Bing has replaced my homepage

I installed a free software from CNET (security?) called 'Free MP4 TO WMV Converter'. After installing the package Firefox opens with BING ignoring my preferences of two home page.

Looks like you have a third-party program that has been on your search engine, home page, or the value default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be solved easily:

    1. Click the menu button

      and choose Add-ons.

    2. In the tab of the Add-ons Manager, select the Extensions Panel.
    3. Select the toolbar you want to delete.
    4. Click on the button Delete.
    5. Click "Restart now" if it appears. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.

After restarting Firefox, install the Reset search tool. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program to your Firefox.

For more information, please read delete a toolbar that has supported your Firefox or the home page search.

This corrects the problem? Please let us know!

  • I can't change the same Bing search bar after the removal of Bing!

I would like to change the default Google search engine. I put Google on the top of the search engine list, but every time I close FireFox and reopen Bing is located in the search bar! I even deleted Bing in the list of search engine to manage, and even after closing and re-opening FireFox sits is Bing. Very frustrating! I love the browser but I'll change if I can't get this straightened out. I completed all the steps to make Google default, but somehow Bing is always in the search bar when you restart FireFox.
    Help, please

Make a check of malware with several malware scanning of programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.
All of these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

Alternatively, you can write a check for an infection rootkit TDSSKiller.

In the past, when I've quand j' ai tape typed a Web site in the field address and clicked on , the browser went to the site I typed. Now with the Internet Explorer that comes with Windows 8, I type in a Web site and that you click on and get a Bing search engine, which requires an additional step in the selection of the Web site, I just typed in the address from the Bing search engine bar.  I found that after you type the desired web address, I can avoid the search engine Bing by passage of the mouse to the small arrow on the right side of the address bar, but is it possible to simply hit and do the same thing or is my address permanently hijacked by Bing bar?

Today, I noticed the option "Stop sending keystrokes to Bing" at the bottom of the field with Bing of the proposals. I chose that and ending to boredom.

If firefox is not open when this happens, pressing enter will automatically open firefox to search bing what I was typing on other applications. If the computer its on idle, when im away from nothing, I still hears the sound form successive clcik.

Do a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program before (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.

If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.

    • Do NOT remove the "personal data" when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords including data profiles created by other versions of Firefox.

Remove the Firefox program before installation newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

    • (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    • (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but make sure that 'delete personal data' is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

If you keep problems also create a new profile.
