Locked due to age. If you still have a problem, please start a new thread

After doing a search, I click on suggested sites. It will start to load, and then will redirect me to another site that usually has nothing to do with original research.

One of your modules could be the culprit too. Try running Firefox in questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode with all disabled add-ons. If that solves the problem, see Troubleshooting extensions and themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems and possibly troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to solve common Firefox problems

Also your problem can be caused by Malware. You can run and update according to free anti-virus software:

By chance have you tried Mode without failure of Firefox? It is a standard diagnostic tool in order to avoid interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

  • I need to open the web site even in two separate tabs. Since I've upgraded to Firefox 6 when I try to open the web page in a new tab in the list in the drop down in the address window it gives that the opportunity to move to the already open tab.

When I get off the fall from the address window, rather than display the URL of the Web site I want to open in a second tab says "switch to the tab '. But I don't want to move to the tab - I want to open a second tab on the same URL. If I want to open it a second time, I have to manually enter the address. Is it possible to turn off this option so that I can open the second tab by using the same address in the drop-down menu? I was always able to do this with the previous versions of Firefox.

"Is it possible to turn off this option so that I can open the second tab by using the same address in the drop-down menu?

You can install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/switch-to-tab-no-more/

Not related to your question, but...

    You must update some plug-ins:

  • Firefox running @ 15% of CPU and constant hourglass flashes all web pages that in firfox

See photo below, it was a trogen, from a downloaded file, called sp_mdt_src_v3.rar. It's a link that has been redirected from the podium of a response by a user to search for a particular file. Good job Vipre. Problem solved. !

  • Firefox keeps historical memory after having settled "not the story never forget."

I have Firefox 24.0. I always had my personal information set for ever, don't forget history and until a month ago, it worked fine. Now when I clear my cache with Ccleaner there is always 100-200 MB of storage in firefox temporary internet cache. Why is no longer removes these their output because it allows?

Firefox does not use the IE temporary internet cache.

Firefox has its own cache and you can see the use of the current cache on the subject: the cache page.

You can open integrated on: pages through the bar of addresses as you open a web page.

    • Firefox/tools > Options > advanced > network > Web content caching

It's very consistent, he arrives a few minutes? In this case, I suggest this test:

To find out if one of your extensions is the culprit, could you test mode without failure of Firefox? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

    Hi MAMARDA,

Welcome to the Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

I would like to ask you a few questions in order to get a better understanding of this issue so that we can better help you.

    (a) what version of Windows 7 use you?

    (b) what is the exact error message you are getting?

Method 1: You can also try to perform a file system (scan SFC) verification tool. This tool will fix the system files are corrupted.

    Scan SFC enforcement procedure:

    1. click on the Start button

    2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories

    3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option

    4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option

    5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked permission before the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

    6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter

    7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.

    8. be patient because the analysis may take some time

    9. If all the files need replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue

    10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

    11. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

Method 2: If this is a recent problem that has developed you can try to perform a system restore and check if it works very well.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next

    4. click on finish

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

For more information, please follow the below given link:

How to repair the operating system and how to restore the configuration of the operating system to an earlier point in time in Windows Vista

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/936212/

Method 3: you can try to start safe mode and restore the system, if you are unable to do it in normal mode.

For a safe boot, you can follow the below given steps:

    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

    2. do one of the following:

    a. If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    b. If your computer has multiple operating systems, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

When you are in safe mode, follow the steps mentioned above to complete the restore of the system.

    Hope the helps of information.
Please post back and we do know.

  • Is it possible to edit Firefox context menu to the standard address for the displayed Web pages?

Is it possible to edit Firefox context menu to the standard address for the displayed Web pages? Often, I want to save an image on a page. Sometimes I "slip" and press "Send Image" when I want to "Save Image under" and sit and wait for the default page - send an email to come, then shut up, juggling its dialog boxes "are you sure". It is a way of trying to manage a blunder. Basically I want an element directly from a page by email. Is it possible that I can simply remove "Send Image" from the context menu?

It is possible with the Menu Editor extension:

  • y at - it a web page that lists all the supported versions of Firefox?

We wish to state our user doc recommended Firefox versions. So it is the web page that lists all the supported versions of Firefox and can also, we have a list of dates to drop support for versions currently supported?

Yes, it has changed a bit since this thread was started 9 months ago. Support for Firefox 3.6.x continues and versions 4 + lose support at the next new version is available. Support for Firefox 7 ended when Firefox 8 came out yesterday 11 / 08.

Support for 3.6.x will likely end early next year when the proposed new ESR (Extended Support Release) comes to massive institutional facilities / corporate. ESR is proposed for a week 42 version support cycle timetable of a 'standard' of the week quick release 6.
