    How can I fix it?

    Hello

First of all, I suggest to remove the Chkdsk.exe or the program Autochk.exe of scheduled tasks:

Click on start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > scheduled tasks.

Click Chkdsk or Autochk in the list of scheduled tasks > under folder tasks > click Delete this item.

Also, make sure that the registry has the entrance on the right as mentioned below:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager. In the right pane the BootExecute value autocheck autochk *

Then, schedule an autocheck and see if the problem persists.

How to back up and restore the registry?

  • How can I fix the .msi file extension?

Related to: Windows 8.1 how to define and restore file associations.

A year or two before, I tried to open an .msi file in the Windows Explorer (on object for reasons that I don't care). Although I can use 'Open with' dialog box to specify "Windows Installer" as a temporary workaround, I'm having difficulty to change to open with the default Windows installation program. Here is what does not work:

    • In "default programs", Windows Installer is not listed.
    • In "set associations", .msi is not listed.
    • On the context menu of the .msi files, 'open with' is an option, not a submenu. However, in the 'Open with' dialog box "always use the selected program..." is gray.

With the situation that I am, I think I have to change the registry to fix this file association. I am very familiar with the registry editor and have no problem with a fix in such a manner.

    Hi ramonamoal,

Follow the suggestion given in the link to fix the issue:
  • Can't fix the driver AHCI, Windows 7

I need to fix my AHCI, I think. I have windows on a SSD. Installation of Windows with the AHCI active and I have checked the registry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci\start setting is 0.

I think that the pilot must have become corrupted, since last week, the computer does not start, it hangs on classpnp.sys. It has worked well for over a year. After a search on the internet I start again by changing the BIOS on IDE instead of AHCI. If I change the setting back to AHCI, it won't start.

I don't know how to fix the AHCI driver, repair for this driver is not supported by the system repair and recovery.

    Can anyone help?

    Brian

    Hello b. glove Davis,.

    Thanks for the reply.

I understand that you have problems with the AHCI driver.

But I would like to learn more about this topic in order to help you better.

    (1) you get an error message in the Device Manager?

Method 1: First of all, try to check in the Device Manager, if there is no error message in

    (a) move Panel.

    (b) open Device Manager.

    (c) select the device and double-click on controller Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA for another right click on the selected item and select Properties.

Note: The AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA default controller drivers are automatically installed by Windows 7 installation. So, he wants to update the official AHCI drivers.

Now, you can choose the option to update the drivers. You can browse your computer for resettled drivers or you can visit the Intel Web site and get the drivers from here.

You can contact help support tree below:

  • How can I fix a corrupted file cmd.exe and what I do to format the hard drive will that solve my problem and then what I do

One of my computers has a virus and I'm ready to reformat the drive if I know what to do when I try to go to the command prompt, I get the cmd.exe message is corrupt.

You could try to copy the cmd.exe file from another XP computer to yours.  It is usually located in the C:\Windows\System32 directory. (Save your current file first, however)  Otherwise, try to start the command-line like this:
    Start-> Run-> "command."
Note that this should appear "command.com" which is different from the "cmd.exe" (but looks like).

If you try to reformat the drive to reinstall Windows, simply boot from your Windows XP installation disc and launch the installation.  A reformat is a normal step in a new installation of Windows.

  • sfc/scannow foud the corrupted files after upgrade from Vista Home Premium 32 bit

    Hello

It is an event that I went through:

    (1) recently I received a bunch of updates to Vista Home Premium 32 bit, after I did the update I decided to perform sfc/scannow task and this is the error message I got the "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and managed to fix them." Details are provided in the CBS.log windir\logs\CBS.log newspaper. For example c:\windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log

Repair of system files change will take effect after the next reboot.

    (2) so I did restart and then try to run the sfc/scannow task once again, but I still got the same message I described in step 1 again. So basically sfc/scannow function did not repair the corrupted files.

    (3) the next step, I decided to perform a repair Installation of visa which took me 10 hours to complete the task, once the task of upgrading of repair has been made and before the windows update, I ran sfc/scannow task and this time he finds any corrupted files, but after I updated windows sfc/scannow result was the same as step 1.

It is obvious to me that one of the updates of the origin of this problem, but find it me hard to pinpoint that one. So I am writing this e-mail to help and I hope that the problem will soon be solved. Please let me know if you need me to submit the CBS.log file for you to review thanks in advance.

No other scanners time real AV are running. I However sometimes use a registry cleaner, after installation and installation of various programs. but I only use the default methods, never the registry COMPLETE cleaning cleaning method. In my view, these could create problems if used files. I also defragment my HARD drive of 1 TB at least once a week.
DISM / / cleanup-image online /restorehealth/ also is not working error message and log files can be found below!
I ran sfc/scannow and several times,
whenever I get the error message stating:
Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unsable to correct some
of them. Details are provided in the cbs.log windir\logs\cbs\cbs.log newspaper.
For example C:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log. Note that iis logging currently not
    supported in offline maintenance scenarios.
When I reboot win 8 after running sfc/scannow. Windows 8 shows that it is far from my system of up to 100%
It charges fine. I have run the sfc/scannow, and then he did exactly the same thing. I reboot and it updates my system. but does not not my files corrupted!
CHKDSK /F also freezes 27%. But when I starts in the my Sony VAIO #1 recovery disk and run diagnostics hardware HARD drive repair tool to try to fix the sectors defective etc on my HARD drive
which works 100% and says there is NO problem!
Here are the files of newspapers that I can access. I have to admit, now, that I do not understand them.
    even after much reading online:
    20/07/2013
    sfc/scannow eror message =

but has been unable to find some
of them. Details are provided in the CBS.log newspaper

Note that logging is not currently supported in offline scenarios.

How to run the command "SFC/scannow" at startup or in Windows 8
    Information
This will show you how the sfc/scannow command to start or in Windows 8 in an attempt to trouble altered or modified system files.

    Tip
If you get the error that Windows resource protection could not start the Repair Service when you try to run the SFC, then make sure that the Windows Modules Installer service is active and set to Manual.

Services - Start, Stop and disable in Windows 8

If SFC is unable to repair the system files corrupted because the Bank (source) is damaged, then you could run the Dism/online/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command to set the Windows component store corruption and then then try to re-run the SFC scan.

    OPTION ONE

To run the SFC/SCANNOW command. at startup

    1. open a prompt at startup.

2 in the command prompt, type diskpart and press ENTER, and then type the size of the list and press ENTER. (see screenshot below)

3 make Act your boot drive drive letters (ex: 350 MB "System Reserved" partition) and the drive of Windows 8, type Exit , and then press ENTER. (see screenshot above)
NOTE: If you do not a "system Reserved" partition and are not multi-boot with other operating system, then the boot drive and the drive of Windows 8 may be the same drive letter.

4 in the command prompt, type the following command and press enter. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: , You will see a blinking cursor at the prompt to the end. It will take a while to finish running though.

    sfc/scannow damaged = C: \ /offwindir = D:\windows

    Note
You need to replace the the drive letter of the partition or volume where your Startup system files are stored in the offbootdir = C: part of the order above instead.

You need to replace the letter of your partition or volume Windows 8 in the offwindir = D: is part of the above command instead.

5 when the analysis is finished, I hope you will see an everything is ok message as below.

6 close the command prompt and restart the computer to start Windows 8.

    Note
If SFC could not fix something, then run the new command to see if it can be able to next time. Sometimes, it can take by running the sfc/scannow command 3 times restart the PC after each time completely fix everything what he is capable of.

If this isn't the case, then run Dism/online/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth to repair any corruption component store, restart the PC later and try the sfc/scannow command.

If still no, then you could do a Refresh of Windows 8, or run a System Restore using a restore point dated before the wrong file system occurred to fix. You may need to repeat doing a restore of the system until you find a restore point that is older that may work.

If not yet, then you can use the steps in the TIP box in the THREE OPTION section below to manually replace the files SFC could not fix.

    Hello

Download Autoruns and check under the tab Sidebar Gadgets - remove anything which is a yellow Standard
Folder marker and/or points to a temp area or non-existent.

Autoruns - free - see what programs are configured so that it starts automatically when your system
boots and you login. Autoruns shows you the full list of registry and file locations where
    applications can configure Auto-start settings.
