Firefox, the CPU usage and unresponsive.

This issue began when I * lost * all my modules (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1290457) after the update to 47 FF... Then I downgraded back to 46 FF. Soon after, my HD failed (and the problem has ceased to be a problem, of course). However, Firefox runs slowly now. I know I have a few extensions and it ran slowly before - but now with a new SSD in the machine, I thought he would steal.

I tried to diagnose whether there could be the link - but then I found that it is unlikely (because I can't imagine a bad connection, causing the CPU to spike)-(see images). In general, it is still using a lot of CPU--but, 3 to 7 times per HOUR, it crashes (second image); in fact, it happened three times JUST while I was typing this bug report.

I was informed by a volunteer (I think) to download the extension "Gecko Profiler" and perform a scan.

Here are three links to the data (I think the third happened * during * one of the episodes "don't respondents not"):

https://Cleopatra.IO/#report=c00b64c17745769d47192a885151781dc9438e70 https://Cleopatra.IO/#report=c7abdc6b83d90f54dad1b04281f46b16bf44739d https://Cleopatra.IO/#report=43d908fec8b7bf87d2026b059b2f788b37d3308f

But I have no idea how read/interpret.

Can someone please give me an idea of what is at the origin of the hang-up? I really don't want to switch to Chrome (how can they insist that the tabs be * higher * the address bar?) but, that starts to look like my only option (which is a shame, because I've used this browser since Netscape family, for years and years...)

Thank you!

    Hello

If you plan to build your app for Windows, you can use .NET classes. (System.PerformanceCounter), there is a simple example with LabVIEW:

Also, you have several screws that you can use to verify information about the processor.

  • Satellite A45 - the CPU usage is high and slow applications

    Hi all

I'm trying to debug a hardware problem on my Toshiba Satellite A45. I am running Ubuntu 10.04, but I don't think that it's operating system or related software.

THE PROBLEM: The CPU usage is high and applications slowly to a crawl after using an intensive application of memory for a few minutes, i.e. to watch a video or a game. Basically, anything that could use the screen much. If instead, I work only from a prompt, even when the application could do a lot of work, I do not encounter this problem. After stopping all applications, the CPU usage is always higher than normal (90% idle, should normally be slowed down to about 99%).

    Xorg now typically showing about 6% (normally use< 2%).="" if="" i="" at="" any="" time="" after="" this="" try="" to="" work="" in="" any="" application,="" usage="" is="" still="" bogged="" down.="" only="" a="" reset="" gets="" me="" back="" to="">

Note: My system has always worked very well and I did not made the installation of the software or changes when it started to happen.
However, the laptop is a 800 miles round trip at the rear of the car in a padded bag.

DEBUG: This doesn't seem to be the RAM that I replaced the RAM and reinstall the RAM, and the problem persists. This doesn't seem to be the hard drive that I can try to run it from a Live CD (without use of HARD drive) and yet everything slows to a crawl.

HELP: I don't know how to debug from here.
I don't have extra pieces of hardware to make swaps.

Any ideas more how to debug this?

    Thank you
    Grommit

    Hello

    > I am running Ubuntu 10.04, but I don't think that it's operating system or related software.
It s interesting why you think that this may be software related issue

I think that it is a typical software problem because the RAM and the HARD drive has been verified you have reported this in the message

So what to say maybe some virus or malware likely to obstruct the CPU and the memory usage
Or there is some process in the background that are not properly

I recommend you to reinstall the Windows operating system or another distribution of Linux that runs NO Live CD, but which is installed on the HARD drive
I m sure that s kind of the process that is disabled and crashes somewhere in the background

  • Vista goes to 50% CPU usage and connects the computer for hours after the beginning

    Original title: Vista processor

Stupid Vista goes to 50% CPU usage and connects the computer for hours after the start.  Cannot run anything with any request of CPU without getting bogged down and crashing.  It is not windows defender, I suspend this service and the machine is ok for another 1/2 hour, them I'm up to 50% of the CPU.  The idle process said Task Manager is > 90%, still indicates 50% CPU usage and the cooling fan looks like a 747 taking off.  Should I just pull the machine and go for Linux, or what?  Cannot run games or whatever it is, totally disgusted with vista of POS and microsoft can it Deep and do not get windows 7, it is probably worse.  Is that all I can turn off to get the same performance than, say, windows 3.1?  It would be preferable to the current situation.  MSCKMA.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Satellite C650D - the CPU usage is jumping around

I bought a Toshiba Satellite C650D 2 months ago and I used the Windows 7 that came with it, thinking that it was fine and dandy until a few days ago, he started having random lag spikes.

At first he just happen when you watch movies (tried 4 different programs, all reinstalled the driver, scanned for malware, defragmented, you name) and then she started to occur outside the viewing of film aswell. Who did it for me, and I installed Windows XP. I did 3 times now, clean install it Windows XP. Initially, it seemed fine. For a few hours, and then it started lagging really bad, not like in Windows 7, but the CPU usage is jumping all over the boundaries between 1% and 99% at random, but there is no process to take it!

He lags behind what I do, just open the Notepad can blow. I thought that it would work with a format clean, but no, of course the problem reoccured. It might be drivers, see problems in Windows 7 and XP are somewhat different. I'm in my intelligence ends here on what to do, whatever that is would be helpful.

    Hey Buddy,

Looks like on your laptop is a background passes process that is causing this different and high CPU usage.

What happens if you install Windows 7 Toshiba Recovery disk and look in the Manager of tasks? Directly after this installation, you should have a low CPU usage and stable because it s installation of Windows from Toshiba.

BTW my 15 Flex-2 upgrade to Windows 10 Home took place, working after a few minor updates manual driver (WLAN, graphics)...

However, since the upgrade, I feel an annoying symptom, which has been reported by users of other brands as well.

Although I already follow most of related advice (known assassination unnessary process, change of reports), the CPU usage is still constantly around 30%, causing the fan to operate continuously and even more unsatisfactory: extremely affecting the battery life! Using processexplorer that I discovered, that svchost (or one of its processes) is at the origin of the problem, not one of the applications. As I am not able to dig deeper, I wonder what measures taken so far by Lenovo to have the Microsoft fix this problem.

Run the update and believe it or not: the CPU usage is almost back to normal (about 4%) with browser open FF and AV SW race. less than 2.5% use svchost. Fan turns down to 'stop' or low speed.
Can someone pls? Be wary of situation for the next few days...

I can see from the Manager tasks, which is currently running, but ideas on how to identify the process that all take this resource, I can stop safely and therefore to save resources?

    Processes are:-

    CSRSS
    DWM
    Explorer
    mcagent
    MSASCui
    rundl32
    Sidebar
    taskeng
    Taskmgr
    Winlogon

Also a lot of services - too many to list!

All the processes you list, apart from mcagent, which is McAfee, are essential components of Windows. If you finish one of them outside the sidebar of your computer stops working to a greater or lesser degree. You could try gadgets on sidebar of closing in case one of them is wrong to behave.

Another thing that can cause the CPU to boost with no application running is Windows Update and probably analysis and updates from McAfee.

Don't you have the CPU column shows in the Task Manager, so that you can see which process is using most of the CPU? What processor is it? What is a heart?

A better tool than the Manager of the tasks for these circumstances is Process Explorer.

Process Explorer is a chart of the CPU where you can put the mouse on a cob and it will tell you what process is using most of the CPU.

There is an introduction to Process Explorer here.

As for the memory of 25%, 25% of what? Computer laptop 2 GB I write this on shows 42% of physical memory used with any running application. It's Windows. It's big enough.

In your situation, one thing I would try would be to uninstall McAfee (run the removal tool then http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507) and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

  • (Redirected) Computer beeps during use. Maybe high disk or the use of the CPU usage?

New here and new to Dell computers. 1st stop, I have a Dell XPS 13 "i7 6560u 16 GB and SSD 512. When using the computer, I get a series of 2 beeps. It seems to be related to the high use of the disc or the CPU usage. I guess my question is possible to put these notifications for a longer delay or at least decrease the volume of the beeps. I am aware that when I use one of my CSD programs to open a browser and looking for an answer to the question about what there will be times where I could get high uses a of these, that's all just annoying and not really want to turn them off entirely (option I would) I would delay having more time this will happen to until I get through this ,

    I thank you,

    Ben
