• Unable to connect to some sites

  My computer cannot connect to a site.  I have a second office that connects to the site.  The site is not busy or closed.  I either get a time-out or a forbidden message.  I turned off my firewall and anti spyware and no change.  I'm at the end of my rope here.  When I try to reset my default firewall it says that it cannot make changes.  But I really didn't ' know if this is the problem or not.  I have modem cable xfinity and as I said, a second conncts to computer with the site.

  Thanks for the advice, people.  I ended up having the Microsoft technical support (bought a contract of 1 year for $149) repair the problem.  The first day the tech spent 2 hours on this subject and had to have a second tech level II remembered the next day.  He spent six hours on this subject and the computer ran and installed updates for three hours.  Yet once the next day he works on it for another three hours ended reinstalling everything.  I found everything to work excwept the printer/scanner.  I then uninstalled and installed and downloaded the drivers updated on the Epsom site.  Everything is good.  I'm happy that I didn't have to sit at the computer all the time to fix it, even if I had all the instructions.

  Method 1.
  a. navigate to the file HOSTS in [C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc] rename the HOSTS for HOSTS.old file and restart the computer.
  (b) if that does not solve the problem of amazon.com, restore the HOSTS name (without the extension).
   
   
  Method 2.
  Try to clear the DNS Cache.
  a. Click Start and type cmd into the search bar and press ENTER.
  b. in the command prompt type
  ipconfig/flushdns
  and press ENTER.
  c. close the command prompt, and then delete all the temporary files and check out them.
  i. click on start and type folder in the search bar and then press ENTER.
  II. delete all files in the folder and restart the computer and check.

  When I go on some web sites, like my Bank, it allows me to log in, but then the next screen never appears.  Initially, this site worked.  Now, I can't in my e-mail site, it allows me to connect, but then the next page is not started.  This happens only on the computer that has vista, xp computer works very well.

• Firefox will not load some sites Web but IE

  After the upgrade to 29 FF, I can't access the addons and several other pages.

  Going to addons.mozilla.org or clicking the addons button gives me a bulleted links list.

  Try to download an add-on just says "download error".

  I can go to addons.mozilla.org in Internet Explorer and download and install manually without any problems.

  I deleted the cache and cookies several times and reset the proxy votes to zero.

  I watched: config and there was no line xpinstall.enabled so I added it as a boolean type.

  I ran malwarebytes and it found nothing.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Can load you those directly (if it just look like a bunch of text all run together), or you get an error?

  If those loading and you and then refresh the page modules, it get a style correctly?

• Firefox crashes when visiting some sites

  Whenever I visit certain websites (examples: Gmail, Youtube, and Tumblr) Firefox everything stops working. I tried to restart, safe mode, default reset and clear all data (cookies, words of past, cache, etc.) and none of it worked. Currently have to use Chrome until this problem is corrected.

  Had to do with a recent update (I forgot that I was on the beta version update channel). Waiting for inevitable correction which will probably solve the issue.

• Firefox 8, will not save the username on some sites, is there I can to add a settings file manually?

  The Web site may use autocomplete = off to prevent Firefox to record the name and the password.

  You can remove autocomplete = off with a bookmarklet to register the name and the password of Firefox.

  There are pages of the below. Some sites go up and try to open Notepad. I uninstalled firefox several times and reinstalled. Same results. I noticed that my bookmarks, etc. themselves so maybe uninstall/reinstall cleaning isn't the problem. Chrome, IE, Edge and all work very well on the sites in question.

  Maybe a content filtering went wrong. Could test you mode without failure of Firefox? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

  Does not work if Firefox: Hold down the SHIFT key when you start Firefox.

  If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

  • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
  • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

  and OK reboot.

  Two scenarios: A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).
