Firewall must be enabled.

Windows message: "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display the settings of the firewall Windows." that's why, I can't turn on the firewall that is disabled. At 7 Trojan horses that obviously did. I need to be able to restore the firewall.  Suggestions for Microsoft support pages do not help - I can not turn on the firewall - I can't access it at all, as mentioned in the quote.  How does one same contact Microsoft, other than an e-mail?  --

  • Vista security question: my Windows Firewall must be on? The McAfee Firewall is enabled

I have Vista Home Premium. I got to enter the Dell support center. "I think this is the first time that I did. It showed that I have Windows Defender on, but not the Windows Firewall and it does not show that I have McAfee Sequrity Version 9.15. My question is #1. My Windows Firewall must be on? The McAfee Firewall is enabled. #2 Why do the McAfee security information appear in the General Info tab or the Security tab I'm sorry if this is such a fundamental issue that I know enough about computers to be dangerous.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I don't know why McAfee is not in the Security Center.

I can only answer to your question n ° 1... to omit the Windows Firewall. McAffe has its own firewall. If you expand the firewall section of the Security Center, you can see this note:

Two or more firewalls at the same time may conflict with each other.

  • protection technology of identification made by intel plug-in must be enabled

"" this plugin came with my mozilla browser in "to activate the mode" must be enabled or not.

Firefox detects a lot of plugins that is preinstalled on your system...

Intel claims the identity Protection technology as helping to prevent identity theft by allowing Web sites to identify your computer, which can limit access to other computers if someone learns your username and password:

    http://IPT.Intel.com/home/how-it-works/identity-theft-protection

Good, but I don't know that many websites use this feature. Is it really useful or they just go to Plan B, as texting you a code?

If you find a site asking to use the plugin, you would like it to be a website you trust since this identifier doesn't know anything about the integrated Firefox Privacy features (clearing cookies, private browsing, etc.). For this reason, I don't think that "Always enable" is a good idea.

  • I have my 5 factory reset iPhone, now I can't set up my iPhone because it must be enabled, and I don't have a sim card. Can someone help me please?

I have my 5 factory reset iPhone, now I can't set up my iPhone because it must be enabled, and I don't have a sim card to make. Is there a way I can install and use my iPhone without needing to be activated? Can someone help me please?

To skip the activation of sim card, you can use iTunes if you have a CDMA iPhone. However, if you have a GSM model you will need to insert a sim card to activate your iPhone (it can even be used/inactive). Here is an article that will help you determine if your iPhone is GSM or CDMA: http://osxdaily.com/2012/11/15/determine-iphone-gsm-or-cdma/

In some cases, security modules (for example, NoScript) or suites of security software will affect the way Firefox handles cookies. You can check the "Privacy" settings in your security software to see if it might block cookies.

Original title: impossible to activate Windows XP

I had to reinstall XP Professional. Now, when I start the computer get a message saying "Windows must be enabled before you can connect. You want to activate now? ». When I click on Yes, the desktop backround sometimes nothing happens. the activation wizard does not open and no error message appears always.

    Hi Dale,

Since you are not able to open a session in normal mode, log in in safe mode and perform a few steps that would help you solve the problem.

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.

Perform the steps mentioned below and see if it helps.
    a: turn on your PC
b: Press F8 repeatedly , then in Mode safe
    c:
    Logon as per normal
(Note: administrator password is usually empty, but I hope you know your password)
d: Authorize the Office to load completely (who answered "Yes" to continue mode without failure)
(Note: this is just a long way to say go to Safe Mode)
    e: Click Start - run
    f:
type exactly: rundll32.exe syssetup, SetupOobeBnk (then click OK)
(Note: a single space after 'rundll32.exe' also the Oo are two letter o in "oobe"; capital and the comma are important)
g: Wait a few seconds (although you won't see any change)
h : Restart your PC normally (start - stop - restart - Ok)
i: You will be able to return to the Normal Mode.

    Good day!

Answer please if you have any questions.

    It's just a detailed view...

I suggest some standard maintenance and cleaning which will generally help as you allow to get acquainted with your machine so that you can restrict the possibilities...

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

In ADDITION, 2nd edition: I have an infected memory stick digital camera.  It has infected my computer 4 times from AUGUST 2009 I realized that it was the culprit.  It leads to the DEATH of SCREEN BULE.  He arrived Friday.  I made the recovery of the system.  I REINSTALLED it.  QUESTIONS: What should I do with this memory stick?  Throw it in the trash?  I lost 6 months of precious photos.  Can I move photos or keep the photos?  What do you recommend?

In ADDITION, through the memory stick infect my computer and then the PICTURES who made the infection.  About 3 or 4 flash drives have been put in my computer.  Are they all infected?  I have College CRITICISM of work on one that I can't lose.  What should I do?  Should these flash drives be CLEANED of INFECTION?  They CLEAN themselves without losing me my files stored?  What do you recommend?  I need someone to assess whether or not they are infected?

The infected memory stick infects my digital camera?  And my Photosmart HP ALL IN ONE printer?  Are they ALSO infected?  Will be going to infect my computer.

I do not think that the SECURITY SOFTWARE I have: (free from Comcast) Norton and Microsoft Security Essentials, are fighting the infection from the memory stick.  It would be good to have an EXPERT evaluate the memory stick and tell me what they think.  As well as my flash drives, an expert must evaluate and tell me if 3 flash drives are infected? And they are clean? And the files that I have on them can be saved?

I hope you can help me, THANK YOU, WG

First, you have to run two anti-virus programs.  This is NOT recommended.

Second... you state one of them is Microsoft Security Essentials.  If this is the case, you can't turn on Windows Defender because MSE already made defender and stops automatically Defender because it is no longer necessary.

Difficulty of these 2 things and your problem should be solved.

    Hello

It looks like it may be duplicated if the following changes are made:

Disable Java Caching. Control Panel->Java. On the General tab, Temporary Internet Files pane, select Settings and untick the 'Keep temporary files on my computer' option. Clear the Java cache

So to reverse the process - go to the Java application on the Control Panel, select settings osteonecrosis of the general part of temporary Internet files, then check "keep temporary files on my computer". This should hopefully solve the problem.
