Firmware DVD GH40L issue

I have a p6210f Pavilion with DVD-RAM GH40L drive. I updated the firmware with sp44462 and power began before he finished. I can read DVD but not write. When I try to update again, it says "your system is up-to-date." How can I reflash the firmware? Is it possible manually? Thanks for any help! Tom

Summer flashing Bios and firmware for 30 years and it was the first gaffe upward. Not only do you have the power go out but sp44462 was the wrong firmware. Why he started to blink, is beyond me. I talked to HP tech support guy and he said it wasn't the right one. They do not replace it no more. So I'm going to order a Lite-on IHAS424-98 24 X for $29. Think I'll take your suggestion on the inverter as well. Thank you

  • Update firmware DVD on Satellite M70-160

Hi all, I searched the Forum, but I can't find anything similar, so here's my problem.
I bought a DVD + R DL RiDisc (MCC manufacturer) and although NERO sees it as a DL, it can not write, show me this error
    "Focus or tracking error".
    D: MAST * A DVD-RAM UJ - 841S
... Could not perform start of Disc-at-once ".

I called the store where I bought the drive and told me that the drive needs firmware update...

So the question: How can I make it and where can I find the firmware?

I know that the manual says nothing about the CMC manufacturer, but only for MCC, TY etc, but maybe someday I'll need that kind of discs.
the reader is Mat * a DVD - RAM UJ - 841S according to windows, but according to manual UJ - 841B. are they really different?

    Thanks to you all.

    Hello

I read on some Web sites and other forums that not all DL media are compatible.
    I don't know if you need different firmware for UJ - 841 S and UJ - 841B m.
I found this site. On its site, you should be able to find many firmware applications.
Maybe you will find one that fits:

    Hi cocknballs4u,

Try to copy the files in one shot and check if you still get the error message.
Given that the issue occurs at random times, I suggest that you can delete the temporary files that are created by the burning.

Navigate to the following location and delete them all the files in the temporary folder burn.
    Burn \appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Temporary file C:\Users\

Then delete temporary files on the computer.

  • Satellite A40-231 DVD - RW issue

What can I do to change my model SD-R6112 DVD - RW with a better? (I know that there are 2 other models better than mine). My laptop has 16 months guarantee. I'm from Romania and the dealer told me I can't do this. I have problems with this DVD: it cannot read DVD written by itself. Another important thing is that I can't write CD - RW high speed.

I am willing to pay the difference for an upgrade. If this is not possible please let me know if, in the case that I'll buy a better DVD, will it affect my warranty.

    Please help me.

    Thank you.

Your dealer is on the right track. It is not possible for you to change the player yourself!

The only chance you have is to find a dealer who changes the drive against another.

But beware, I'm not absolute, but I think that you'll lose the guarantee of the machine!

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite A300-211 DVD playback issue

Hello everyone, I have a strange problem with DVD-ROM. A few times, after I inserted a dvd into the status bar, the system crashes, but it's a freak accident. DVD ROM stopped turning (flashes) and the * HDD Led * is constant on and I can't access bar tasks or the Task Manager. However, I can navigate the menus etc via the start menu.

For example, what happens on my Vista Ultimate DVD from the insertion in the Windows environment. If I want to boot from it, it works like a charm. The same thing happened with Crysis. I mention these two DVDs, because they are perfectly no scratches and their quality is proven for me. How can I check if the HARD drive or DVD are in good condition. I have my computer laptop 48 hours now and I want a full replacement if something is wrong!

    Thank you in advance!

It's really hard to say what the reason for this. Sorry, but I don t know him.

To determine if it s assign you a hardware or software should install the laptop using Toshiba recovery disc. It already contains all the drivers and tools for your laptop and so you can restore the factory settings.
    Have you tried that?

I am still under my M50 with standard spec, all I've done is upgraded the RAM to 2 GB. The DVD player is a carpet * a DVD/CDRW UJDA770 & I'm running on Windows XP SP2. I have about 8 GB of space on my HDD remaining.

Someone at - it ideas? I searched updates driver for the player, but can not find. I tried DVD playback on the two WMP11 & for the Intervideo Win DVD & I get the same problems.

    Hello

    just a small suggestion:

Clean your hard drive of unnecessary programs and uninstall everything that has to do with reading/Codecs and the like.
Then, reinstall your DVD program and try again.

If this didn t helped you can backup all your data, recover you the system with the restore CD but don t install any other 3rd party software but install "K-lite Codec Pack", then Windvd. After performing these steps, check if it work s.

Work since some programs are should know disrupt a correct reading of certain media such as DVDs.

    Good luck and good weekend

  • Satellite A200 PSAF6A - DVD burning issue, pixel dead, overheating

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba A200 (model PSAF6A) of back in January, and it is riddled with problems since then:
-Can't burn DVD (not @ around 50%, any software is used)
-Several dead on the screen pixels
-Overheating when playing games (I bought an external cooling block)
-Now, all fans are dead inside the laptop! Overheating in the first 10 minutes of starting the laptop computer!

Now, for me, it seems that the motherboard may have started to die.

What I'd like to know is if it will be replaced with so many problems if I take service? (I reserved a pick-up for today)
Or they'll just to try to solve every problem?

-Can't burn DVD (not @ around 50%, any software is used)
... could be a defective DVD player. or could be bad upperfilters/lowerfilters. http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?ID=314060

-Several dead on the screen pixels
... LCD display needs to be replaced if it meets Toshiba pixel policy.

-Overheating when playing games (I bought an external cooling block)
... Too much dust in the heat sink, must be blown to the compressed air, or dismantled so its really clogged. Dust accumulation is common in carpeted rooms.

-Now, all fans are dead inside the laptop! Overheating in the first 10 minutes of starting the laptop computer!
... If the fans don't turn up at all, there must be a lot of dust in there. The fans need to be replaced.

  • firmware on L322X issues

I have a serious problem on a computer (L322X) XPS13 laptop which seems to be related to the firmware and UEFI.

    Context of the problem

    Laptop model: L322X
    BIOS version: A07

    Description of the problem

Most of the time, the laptop does not start successfully on cold start. Pressing the switch turns on the backlight for the keypad to light but the screen is completely black, and the DELL logo with startup options does not appear. Activating/Deactivating the SHIFT key has no effect on the LED. Briefly press the power button causes the cell to stop immediately, and that's all I can do in such situation.

Sometimes the laptop will work properly: the DELL logo appears, allowing me to enter the program installation and start-up as expected: I can boot Windows 8 or any other OS install and everything works fine. When an OS is running, I put the laptop into sleep mode and it wakes back up normally. But if I chose another option (shutdown or reboot), the laptop stops correctly, but the problem will happen when he starts again.

The observed behavior is 9 times on 10 after each cold start randomly. After days of test, it does not appear to be affected by:
n ' matter what BIOS setting, including UEFI mode/Legacy mode, Secure Boot, quick start or any other option. 'Reset to defaults' has no effect.
-Battery status and / or know if AC is plugged in or not.
-If the external USB devices are connected or not,
    -internal temperature.

Another abnormal behavior is that when it is properly started in Windows, I am unable to update BIOS. I downloaded the version A09 to L322X and ensured that the downloaded file was entitled to MD5/SHA hashes. When I run the executable with the rights administrator during the step "read current BIOS' the following error occurs like 9 times out of 10:" ERROR 216: cannot read the ROM BIOS! Status = 1604 ". When it does occur, the executable file shuts down the computer to restart and to carry out the level, but then again, when restarting the computer laptop, 9 times out 10, DELL logo does not appear and the only thing I can do is press the power button to power it off the coast. When, in some very rare cases, the utility to update the BIOS was able to playback of the current BIOS and the computer restarts successfully then it starts the flash executable DOS mode as expected, but it also attempts to read the current of the Republic of Montenegro BIOS fails with the same error (and immediately shuts down the computer without allowing repeat).

    Context of the problem

The problem seems to have started after I tried to boot from a USB based on linux using the UEFI. Before that, I was able to install any OS based on linux on the reader and the start-up in Legacy mode without any problem. It's only after you start a linux image in UEFI mode that the problem began to occur, and kept going on since then, not matter what OS I boot on and regardless of the BIOS mode I use (UEFI mode or legacy).

I looked for a solution on the web and found people who have met similar behavior on other brands such as HP or Lenovo and Samsung laptops. In all these situations, the problem started to occur after the start of operating systems based on linux with the mode UEFI BIOS. In some cases it has even "bricks" laptop (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1040557).

You are looking for a solution

Because the problem occurs before the UEFI/Legacy BIOS has a chance to run, it seems clear that the problem is at the level of the firmware. Because it appears after a cold start, it must be caused by some memory related to the BIOS/UEFI in invalid state. I jumped the upgrade of firmware would solve the problem, but since I am unable to get the flash to work tool I could not verify that.

This behavior may be related to certain bugs in the firmware of the computer, in particular its UEFI application (I use firmware A07 version)?

Is there a way to diagnose hardware memory UEFI and/or to factory State?

Any help is welcome. Thanks in advance for your answers.

I did a few tests more and managed to Flash the firmware to the A09 version:

    (1) I ran the utility of the firmware on a different computer, wait that he extracted his data in the temporary folder. The closure of the extraction dialog box, I went %TEMP%\ExtactTemp\ and copied the files on a USB of FAT16 key (sometimes the default.rsp file has an extra extension ".bak"; it should be renamed to "default.rsp").
    (2) I inserted the USB key into a USB port on the L322X, while power off, unplug the power cable, pressed the END key, reconnected the power cable and the END button is released after 1 second. This caused the laptop start automatically and directly start the flashing BACK to the USB troubleshooter.
    (3) the started flashing utility to read the BIOS current and as expected, it failed and caused a restart. I kept repeat step 2 (of dozens of times) and the flashing utility has finally managed to read the ROM and over the flash operation.

To restart the computer, the DELL logo is immediately apparent. I'm in installation options and verified that the version of the A09 firmware. Since then, the computer has always started correctly after a cold start or restart and the problem appeared, apparently solved flashing of the firmware to the A09 version.

I think it is safe to conclude now that the firmware is the cause of the problem and not the hardware. Given that the problem appeared after the UEFI boot on a linux kernel after months of use the old BIOS, I think that an operation - for example a kernel crash - may have set the NVRAM in an invalid state. I read on the web that both Windows and linux use the NVRAM to store dumps, so this may be the cause of the problem. During the tests, I did, I started on an EFI shell and did a dump of the smbiosview and dmpstore commands, and I compared the shock of before and after the flash succeeded with a utility of merging, but I couldn't identify significant differences (the only differences in smbiosview were on the SKUNumber that has been fixed in A08 and A09; there were more differences to EFI variables in dmpstore but I don't found no documentation on most of them - including the DELL associated - I place something useful; I can provide these discharges if necessary).

So for now, I don't know what solves the problem exactly: is the revision A09 which fixes a bug that existed in A07 or what the flashing process that cleaned something in NVRAM? (especially since 'default.rsp' contains indicators such as the /cvar which seems to relate to persistent memory erasure)? Any idea on the subject is welcome.

  • Windows 8 DVD upgrade issue

I have a desktop running Windows 7 customization.  In December of 2012, I have upgraded to Windows 8, before back to Win7 in October 2013 due to graphic tablet problems.  Now that I use my Surface Pro for all the needs of my art, I would spend my office back to 8 using the same DVD that I used before.  Since this is the same system with the same material, I'll be able to do this or I need a new key?

You can use the same product key and repeat the upgrade. If you have problems, use the phone activation.

    1. press the Windows key + X , and then click run, and then type: slui.exe 4

    2. then press the ENTER"" key.

    3. Select your "country" in the list.

    4. choose the option "activate phone".

    5. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    6. explain your problem clearly to the support person.

Could you please specify where exactly the lock upward occurs because both John T. Smith and hunting are encourage you to try the burn on the record. From what you wrote I don't know if you can get so far to the burn folder.

    Examine the path...

    • Publish + share
    • Disc
    • DVD
    • and, then, in the dialog box burn, burn to: disc

'Disc' is the breakpoint? Associated with burn on the 'disc' immediately after the publication + share or 'disk '?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I wonder why someone's trying to Flash the firmware of readers with another incompatible?  :| Which is really strange.

In any case, seems not good friend in my eyes you ve damage parameters of drives that makes the drive unusable.

Is Toshiba driver page doesn't provide a firmware that could help you to flash back settings, to be honest I don't think that you will be able to find a compatible it it s not available on the Web from Toshiba site

I think you the last option might be Toshiba authorized maintainer in your country.
An authorized service representative might be able to bring readers to life

    Driver version: 6.0.6001.18000

    Hello

I checked the driver Toshiba section info page more (he s right) and are found some details about this firmware update.
Changes have been made to correct the following:
Impossible to burn songs on iTunes to some CD media. iTunes error "the attempt to burn a disc fialied. An unknown error occurred (2131)"is displayed

If the update of the firmware doesn't solve all problems with burning CD/DVDs!

I assume you have some CD and DVD burning issues because the media are not entirely compatible.
What you could do is to check various CDs/DVDs from different manufacturers.

A single note; If I m not wrong not the user manual should provide some details on CD and DVD compatible and supported.
