First CS4 HD to SD

Gentlemen!

Before posting this thread, I went through some old discussion about the conversion from HD to SD images, I found a few including Jeff Bellune

Link:

http://bellunevideo.com/tutlist.php

I followed its procedures and created my final NTSC AVI 720 x 420

But I noticed the quality of the output video wasn't all that great compared to my original film, which is a 1920 x 1080, 23.976fps (used a Canon 7 d)

Then I went and selected the MPEG4 and the output video file looks great

But the width of the frame is only 176 and the frame height is 144.

It would not be a problem if I burn it to DVD which I believe actually 720 x 480?

Any exporter suggession for the quality of the TSB, who will finally DVD.

Thank you very much!

If the final result is dvd do not have an avi but go directly on mpeg2-dvd.

Don't forget to return a maximum quality of the value on.

If I'm not mistaken Jeff which also covers.

  • How to convert AVI files for first CS4 (Mac) with VLC - Please Help!

Hi thanks for the reading-post it here for the first time.

I'm another grass sorry, trying to convert AVI files, so I can import them into first CS4 on a Macbook Pro laptop. I am using VLC on the macbook to perform the conversion. I don't want to use free converters such as iSquint (tried and many others) b/c they cause a significant loss of video quality. But I'm trying to do it for free! (I'm broke).

Been read tons here and on other forums to get advice first, but in my view, none is really specific to my situation.

I'm fine (slight quality loss) video but NO Audio. I want the audio too!

AVI files seized on an old NV3 camera SD card.

VLC said the Codecs for these files I got off the SD card are as follows:
    0 workflow:
    Type - video
    Codec - MPEG - 4 (XVID) video
    Resolution - 640 x 480
    Rate - 30

    Stream 1:
    Type - Audio
    Codec-MS ADPCM (audio ms)
    Channels: Mono
    Sampling frequency - 22050 Hz
    Bits per sample - 16

I tried several different configurations with VLC conversion according to the documentation of "Supported file Formats for import in first CS4": http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/WSf52ca809ac8f6c7135876f961243120b72d-8000.htm l

For example I tried to convert the same file as follows:

    Wrapper MPEG 1 - converted with MPEG-1 VIDEO 1024 bits/Audio MP3 192-bit
    Wrapper MPEG 1 - converted with MPEG-1 VIDEO 1024 bits/Audio MP3 128-bit
    Wrapper MPEG 1 - converted with MPEG-1 VIDEO 1024 bits/MPEG Audio 128-bit
    Wrapper MPEG 1 - converted with MPEG-2 VID 1024 bits/Audio MP3 128-bit
    Wrapper MPEG 1 - converted with MPEG - 1 1024 bits/MPEG Audio 16 bit VID
    Wrapper MPEG 1 - converted with MPEG - 1 1024 bits/MP3 Audio 16 bit VID

When converting to MP4 (MPEG-4) I get a general error while importing first so no dice on that, and I tried a lot of other configurations/combinations, but not all.

I check each result with VLC before import into the Prime Minister and they play both audio & video fine with VLC.

My question is the following: what settings can I select in VLC for audio first? Or if there is a specific codec I need to download and install a download link... would be much appreciated.

    Alternative solution?...

If I put these files on the SD card in my camera and click on and drag them on the macbook pro laptop as AVI files (instead of dragging to a PC first, as was the case)... don't you think it would make a diff?  Also, I tried sucking to the top of the camera first, but that didn't work... the camera turns on when connected to the computer... so that you can not navigate to a file on the camera and then use the GUI first to suck.

I have a laptop. These original files play well with Windows Movie Maker because I downloaded the appropriate codec. Hi and low tried a mac version of this codec without result. CS4 my install discs do not work on Windows/PC. Trust me I wish they did! Even the configuration required on the package is in the absence of any mention of Windows. Windows Movie Maker convert .mov... that was my first game b4 plan, I realized that VLC was quite robust and user-friendly in its Export Wizard codec functionality.

Any help would be much appreciated! I swear! I'm banging my head against the wall and I want to just change already!

    Thank you!

Do not use the flow function; This isn't what you are doing.  (Although technically, I don't think it matters)

Use the convert/save option.  The first screening, video - H.264 + AAC (MP4), should work great.  Don't change anything.  Save the file with a MOV or MP4 extension.

If you get audio weird sounding, then create your own preset that matches the Video - H.264 + AAC (MP4) preset, uncheck only Audio the Audio tab and convert to video.  Then run convert/Save using the Audio - CD preset.  Save the file as a WAV (or an AAC?).

Import the 2 files into PR.  You shouldn't have synchronization problems if the points are aligned in when you add them to the sequence.

  • image and video calibration in first cs4 (basic question)

    Hello

I'm new to first.  I have CS4.  I created my first video project base.  I put this

the project up to a 'regular' basis of the project definition about 720 pixels or more. I have

imported a few photos from the digital camera, put them on the timeline, and

has added a title and background music.

When I play back the project, the small window in the top right of the

screen shows only a small part of the camera images that I imported.  Images

were JPEG files.  they were about 1.8 MB.

How do it so the image is shown in the video project?

Perhaps these are file pictures 'giant size' and I don't even know it.

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction in terms of how I

should be implemented to pixel values, sizes of images/videos and things like that in

First.  I go to the adobe classroom in a book of box to get

    First CS4.

    I'll do some shooting of 1920/1080i format 16 x 9.  but for

for now, I'm just trying to get my jpeg digital camera photos to show the

overview in first rather than a 10% zoom to the top of only a small part

    of the image.

    Thanks for all the ideas.

What are the dimensions in pixels of your images?

They should be the same as the project for example 720 wide for landscape. The size of the JPEG file is not relevant.

Either resize before importation (preferred) or size suitable first. If the images are already the right size, see the magnification of the monitor window

  • First CS4 on Windows 7

    Hello

I'm currently under first Pro CS4 on my system Windows XP (German versions in Germany), but now consider upgrade to Windows 7. My research on the Internet does not give me a conclusive answer to my questions: is first Pro CS4 compatible with Windows 7? It runs in 32 or 64 bit? One of the documents I found said that Windows 7 Ultimate is necessary. Is this true? Professional or Home Edition Premium does not work?

Thanks for the tips and help

    Dietmar

The suite CS4 works perfectly on Win7 64 bit.  This is the way to go.  64-bit is the future.  I am under W7/Pro.  It must also run OK on the Home (not the basic version) version.

  • Any Composition AE (dynamic links) and a text does not appear in the first (CS4)

I have an AE comp I did with a few credits a few weeks which was 20 seconds ago. Now, I go back to edit it - done long 52 seconds (Comp changed settings), I increased the length of each text box appears a little longer; then I also copy & paste a text layer and put it between the 2nd to last and the last layer of text.

Then I go and copy/paste about five more layers that all go behind what I had before - in my AE comp I also put the other. I edited all the layers of copied text and type in all that much good.

I have a background with text on top of that. The background is precomposed and then all text layers in the final composition.

When I go to the first I see * some * of the changes immediately.

When I go to the for first now to watch, all changes are applied until the last layer of text I've had since a few weeks ago - including all changes made to these layers as length, font and size, as well as the text layer, I put between the last and the 2nd to the last layer.

But that's it - once the last layer before is played, no layers of text appear, but the background is perfectly well yet, everything as it should.

In AE, it plays well and looks great.

What I am doing wrong? How can show in AE but not first - if the background shows?

I went to the AE and has one of the layers of this latter text to see what he would do in the body and he hid the background well, but the text still does not appear in the body but in AE.

  • Monitoring of Hi-Def in first CS4

For a while now, if I wanted to see how my Premiere CS4 project looked on a NTSC 4:3 screen, I just sent the picture down through my apron DVCAM firewire and to the monitor.  But now I want to see the projects of the AVCHD on a flat screen monitor and to the bottom of the scale in SD via firewire looks pretty bad.  What material can I discover the projects of hi-def to first on a hi-def monitor?

    J. D.

You have a second connector of DVI output on your available graphics card?  If Yes, attach a monitor 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200 and in the upper right of the screen of the widow program select the menu tiny and down select playback settings, then your second monitor.  If you want to use a HD TV, then a connctor DVI adapter will convert HDMI audio-less signal.

  • Organization of the videos to be reunited later - best practices? First CS4

Hello.  I'm working on a series of videos for YouTube which will be finally put together in a continuous video with additional images to a DVD.  It's a bit like taking the parts of a serial and combining them as a movie, but with a bit of passage from time to time.  It's in the Premiere CS4.

Since the parts are all made separately, I would like to know if there are all recommended to set to be combined later.

I have a simple idea that is the easier, but may not be the best.  Although the original film for the web is HD, there is virtually no chance that the combined version will never have a HD output.  So, my thought would be to cram HD files that are made active for the great DVD target folder, and then when they are sous-échantillonnées to resolution DVD it may not be a noticeable loss of quality.  In addition, it is not set up as a masterpiece of the million dollar special effects and everyone buying the DVD would know only not to expect this level of perfection.

Is there a better way to do it as long as I'm moving?  If there is something I can do ahead to do better, I would rather plan to make as good as possible in our very limited budget.  Thank you!

    Hello

I hope it all works out for you... and I still have another idea, that can or might work now... but might do anyway to see if it works.  If this isn't you don't really lose anything...

so, you have HD pictures and you will change such things.

Set up your files depending on how you want to organize your images.

For example, let's say you have topics or dates that are relevant to the images...

records could be under a folder root as MY GIANT PROJECT

Under that you may like...     HD-1 / 10/2010

    and...                                                          HD-12 / 10/2010

or do you have stuff like... HD-EVENT-1

    HD-EVENT-2

So now you (as with the tutorial of Jeff Bellune) downconvert to SD...

When you do you will probably have the same proportions and the type of file (for example, progressive of 16:9) even if its SD now

so, when you make downconvert records the exact names of same as the HD files... and save in the same folder of type structure but call these folders as stuff... SD-1 / 10/2010, SD-12 / 10/2010

    or................ 1 EVENT-SD, SD-EVENT-2

If you now HD images in a set of HD files and an exact copy of your SD videos in similar (same description) files SD...

As the file names will be the same, you have to keep these separate files in their own set of files, or if you have chaos!

    NEXT STEP...

Edit your hd stuff in an hd project that corresponds to the sequence (like the 1280 x 720 progressive etc.) which will be square pixels 16:9.

When you save your project, save a security copy, etc, then SAVE AS... .and name the new INTERMEDIARY SD project (or other)... This will be used to TRY and import all of your SD files in this new project and all your changes and transitions apply automatically... as a proxy edit... and I'm not sure it will work but it won't cost you a lot in time to try it...

so the first thing with the new INTERMEDIARY project you will use for experimenting..., save it as a copy and save it under a new name... for safety... and close the editor. Now move ALL your HD FILES in a different FOLDER ROOT... something like MY BIG PROJECT TEMPORARY...

NOW, when you open the project (SD INTERMEDIATE) - which, either way is always the same project settings that HD... the project will not be able to find the HD images and you will be asked... .and: ' where is this file?  NOW go to the SD folder that contains the file that is SD with the exact same name... and point the program to see THAT only the file, he's looking for some...

In theory, it will load now ALL YOUR SD footage for the entire timeline in place and place the HD images...

And I hope that you have all of your changes and transistions intact (with minor differences may re: certain lengths etc due to different dimensions of the real images of transition)...

It's going to look odd because 1) SD will be (ntsc 720 x 480 16:9) 1.2 format of pixels instead of square (1.0)

and (2) will be small and float inside the HD display project with a lot of black space around it.

Now, save the project and copy, etc. for safety...

Now, create a new project of SD...

Now import the sequence of the SD INTERMEDIARIES of the project or otherwise create this new project sd in new sequence and hover over the things for this new project (I use cs3 so I think cs4 allows different project settings in different sequences in the same project...) ...

As new Sd will be the correct proportions etc. everything should look fine...

Chart based on square pixels may have to be adjusted and titles etc... but maybe you'll have all your changes and transitions...

In case CONTRARY didn't you really lose a lot of time trying this

FINALLY... Replace all your HD videos on the ROOT of origin folder where it belonged... MY BIG PROJECT... so the ORIGINAL HD project will see the correct files when you open that... .and the intermediate SD project delete... as long as these files are no longer available under the root of MY GRAND PROJECT TEMPORARY...

Hows THAT for a crazy idea?

  • First CS4 - how to choose the HDV format?

I did 5-6 projects with DV format without this problem, but now I'm trying to capture (import of my camera miniDV - Canon HV30), pictures in the HDV (30 fps) format in Premiere Pro CS4.  OK, my PC seems to be slow for this (I can follow only image on cam).

I tried putting the HDV 720 and then got a picture that appear truncated when I read the first shooting (as if he just zoom in on a part of the picture that I saw on the camera..., maybe 75%...). I then tried to capture HDV in establishing first 1080 (VPS 30 again) and a new, when I read, only a part (and I think it's even a part smaller than with the previous settings) show!...

    What I'm doing wrong?...

    Thank you

    Rob

This sequence you need for the HV30.

No preview in the window to capture while capturing only on the device itself.

Make sure that the settings of capture in the Capture window is set to the HDV.

If you want to preview and scene detection (which does not work in CS4) captures with HDVsplit.

  • The first CS4 AVCHD and Color Finesse 2 PL

    Hi all

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Premiere Pro Cs4

Has recently created a project using AVCHD with Premiere Cs4 video

I used Color finesse 2 PL plug to do some color correction

When I use the Color Finesse 2 PL with AVCHD video card, it works fine, but when I try to export my project, it obviously sends it to Media Encoder

then I select the preset HD, after finishing I can play the video, but without Color Finesse 2 PL effect fine

Does it mean that Color Finesse 2 PL do not have HD images?

    Thank you!

Make sure you have the most recent, 2.1.12, Color Finesse installed version. Some earlier versions had problems with running Media Encoder, specifically the plug-in is not applied.

First and SOUL are supposed to isolate plug-ins like Color Finesse of details of the used codecs, for as far as I know AVCHD is not a problem.

    Mitchell,

Use an XDCAM-EX preset for your EX1, i.e. size of 1920 x 1080 and import your BPAV directory more all subfolders and files. Do not use an HDV preset.

  • Where to find the first CS4 Crash log?

    Hello

I've been running Premiere CS4 on Windows XP x 64 for several months with no problems.  A few days ago, I suddenly started getting a crash window as soon as I would start by first (loading splash screen).  I clicked on the "do not show again" option in the window, the window disappeared and is no longer present.

I tried to uninstall completely the CS4 and reinstall the entire suite, but I still having the same problem.  In addition, the fault report screen still no longer appears.

I'm starting to get very frustrated at this point.  I don't know where to look for a crash log or how to understand / identify what could be the cause of error.

I'm running XP x 64 SP2 with all the latest active patches.

Other CS4 applications (ie: photoshop, still, etc.), work very well.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?  I tried to see if there is a way to reactivate this window of accident report and/or to find all relevant log files you want to, but can't seem to find anything.

I have already read through http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405950.html and tried most of the suggestions without result.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Have lost hours trying to figure this on my own, I'm just spinning my wheels at this stage.

    Thank you!

    Eric

The only practical solution is to reformat your hard drive, install the operating system and programs up and down and NEVER install the codec packs in the future. Only codecs that you can install it safely are HuffYuv and Lagarith, everything else takes more risks than to be on the internet without protection against the virus or make love without protection.

Dang, I thought that SB was part of the 'package '. OK, go get the freeware audio editior, AUDACITY. It should import/export your file as a test, fine.
