Fix the rdm to VM from different subnet

I, m in establishing an environment of OTA. Next week, I have a class of Labmanager 3 days.

Installation program:

vSphere Server VC: environment (10.128.0.0/16) Live subnet

vSphere ESX server with 4 NICs

vmnic0: 10.128.0.0/16 (environment Live subnet)

vmnic1: 172.10.1.0/24 (subnet SAN storage)

vmnic2: 192,168.1.0/24 (ADSL or subnet)

vmnic3: n/d

HP Lefthand p4000 SAN storage: 172.10.1.0/24 (SAN storage subnet)

ProCurve 2910al switch: 172.10.1.0/24 (SAN storage subnet)

Everything is running, with the exception of one question. I've created a few VMS on the SAN and the vSwitches needed, as you can see in the attachment.

The problem is that I can't reach a RDM to a virtual machine in this situation. The virtual machine is in a subnet of 10.128.0.0/16.

I have to create a portgroup vSwitch1 and add the virtual machine to the portgroup? But they would still be no connectivity... Create VIRTUAL networks?

I do something on the ProCurve switch?

We wil part of clone of our direct environment to the environment of the OTA, so you have to be very careful with the routing.

How can I solve this problem?

Thanx

you do not need the virtual machine to be in the same subnet as the Lefthand SAN. one of the trick is that one that you have assigned servers HP CMC, you must rescan all the adapter of storage in each host, then only the iSCSI RDM is displayed when you try to do this from the Add Hardware Wizard.

If you are prior to ESX 4.1, you will need to create a network service management console or in the iSCSI SAN.

  • Running the software iSCSI on a different subnet than the management traffic

I hope I'm missing something obvious you smart people might be able to help with.

I am trying to put in place a small instance of vSphere using ESXi 4.0 Update 2 and unlike most of our environment, we use the iSCSI instead of fibre SAN storage.

The intention is to set up a network on subnet A, for management and Vmotion traffic which will have 2 natachasery attached.

We have a second 'B' allocated for iSCSI storage subnet and have 2 separate natachasery which will be implemented through two vSwitches, 1 Teddy for each.

We have implemented the switch management/vmotion on a subnet and, of course, the default for this subnet gateway entry when asked.

The iSCSI subnet naturally has a different gateway and so when I entered IP address on subnet B in the port of core, it seems always trying to route through the gateway to subnet an attack to storage not being is not visible.

We have verified that the problem is not with the storage or the ESXi put in place by proving that if we give the iSCSI port IP subnet A (and also the storage) then we can see storage without problems - simply, the question seems to be everywhere to try to operate on a completely isolated subnet.

Isolation of storage traffic is a customer demand, and not something that we cannot ignore.

Anyone know if it's possible (and if so what should I do to solve the problem) OR should we look for to move to ESX Classis and use his ability to use 2 different gateways?

I feel that I must be missing something pretty obvious I don't know there must be a way to achieve segregation of traffic on subnets for the other core activities such as vmotion, fault tolerance and management traffic.

There is only one door of entry for VMkernel, then you can separate VMotion / iSCSI / fault tolerance than if not routable subnets, i.e. all hosts on the same subnet.

  • How to get iSCSI SAN connected to ESX when the SAN is on a different subnet?

    Hi all

I have two machines ESX which are directly connected to a San that are on a different subnet other network cards.  Other network cards are 10.x.x.x and the SAN is on 172.16.x.x, however whenever I try to add the iSCSI storage, the system will never find the LUN.  I put the vmkernel 172.16.x.x but it does not always find them.  I know that the LUNS are configured correctly if its ESX just having problems with the other subnet.

You need to activate the Service Console to see the iSCSI SAN, too. This is because you use the initiator software. For example, you can add a second SC in the vSwitch that your VMKernel Port is connected and align on the same subnet.

  • Maintaining the integrity of the data so that the migration of data from different environment

    Hello

    In Oracle 11r2,.

We work in an environment were we have need to migrate data from one environment to the other.

The data is stored in 5 tables that has data integrity constraints (foreign keys).

They use keys of substitution for the primary key.

These keys are populated by sequences.

    Export is not a problem.

    Importing is.

The challenge is that surrogate keys (sequence numbers) may have already been used in the new environment.

Thus, we would need assign new surrogate keys of the sequence for the imported data without compromising the integrity of the data in the parent-child relationships.

We need the integrity of the data in this process.

We need the process to be fast.

We are looking for advice if data pump might solve our problem or if a script internal or a mixture of both is required.

Perhaps other tools exist to achieve this goal.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Yan Pachebat

It would be instead of data pump.  11g Release 2 added the function REMAP_DATA, which will allow you to incorporate something like this into a data pump process.  It was not available at the time I did my scripts 11.1.

  • How to ensure the separation of data from different types of data for ESXi 4?

Does anyone have a reference architecture to ensure the separation of the point of creating data in transit and storage of different types of dataexample PCI DSS data (personal credit card), data ITAR/EAR, etc.  Concern is due to the mix of data VLAN or crossed, VLAN themselves not to use as a security boundary.  VMware offers to ensure the separation at the application levelif I read it correctlywell in transit even in stockdata must be separated.  Suggestions?

    Hello VMwear8,

The chances of anyone to play with the hypervisor itself is actually quite thin, what must be addressed is the data accessed in virtual machines. If you need protect administrators to access these data.

Right now that is not possible to 100%, however you can restrict access by implementing different controls:

    (1) execute all access to your ESX hosts and vCenter via the HyTrust appliance, this is a preventive measure in some cases.

    (2) turn off the navigation data store in the vSphere Client (this is a RBAC vCenter)

    (3) turn off 'root' or superuser for each ESX host (except in a situation of "break the glass"). If they need access 'root' follow it via sudo.

    (4) add the audit in order to know who did what, when, where and how

    (5) protect your management tools as if they were gold. Check out this post performance and security management in the virtual environment tools as an aid to help with this.

At most you can only put controls around the problem, we can not currently permanently prohibit access to one person give you access as being able to connect as root in the ESX host.

  • Get the sizes of tables with the same name but from different schemas

There are two patterns in my database: HAND and ARCH.
Each of these schemas contains a table named SPOITEMS. I would like to get the size of the table "SPOITEMS" of patterns one and another.
    I found this script:

    Select
    nom_segment table_name,
    Sum (bytes) /(1024*1024) table_size_meg
    Of
    user_extents
    where
    segment_type = 'TABLE '.
    and
    nom_segment = "SPOITEMS".
    Table_name group

but it returns only a single element with the name of the table "SPOITEMS" (owner ARCH).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

I assume that you run the query in the ARK? Use ALL_EXTENTS or DBA_EXTENTS instead of USER_EXTENTS

  • Two guests with a different subnet on the same bridge vmnet0

Hi all, I have a server in a data center.  The data center has awarded me two different

Beaches of IP addresses with two separate subnets.  The first beach with the subnet to 255.255.255.248

compatible with my 3 people systems hosts that use bridged networking on vmnet0.

4th OS uses 255.255.255.0 and bridge over vmnet0, however

I can not get on the net, can't even ping the gateway.

Then the bridge vmnet0 manage two different subnets?

    Thank you

    Matt

Yes, network bridge can have several subnets.  Bridged using, your virtual machine works like any other physical machine on the network.  So just as if two physical machines on the same physical LAN had different submet, they would not be able to communicate directly with each other, so also with your virtual machine having a different subnet.  With two subnets, you should probably two gateways.  If you cannot change the 4th VM subnet to match others, you would need a router between the two subnets.  (Again, same as if they were physical machines.)

  • Mac, WRT 54 G, can I access a MFC9320 brother on two different subnets?

(domestic use) I have a USB Server that I can access my USB printer on two different subnets and I was wondering if I can do the same thing on the WRT54G. I use 192.xxx.xxx.x for internet use and 198.xxx.xxx.x for each thing, like file sharing of multiplayer games, etc. Only, I named the 'locations' to 'Internet' or 'Games' (with games being used for everything else). With the USB Server set to "ZerocConfig" I could access USB printers on both.  I could set up the printer with a static IP printer 'Place' and then change location every time we wanted to print to it, but I would like to save a step. It's not that big a deal for me, but have to "Remind" everybody whenever they wanted to print something on it, would get old. Don't want to hang the brother to the USB Server if I have the wireless. It is not the smallest thing in the world to find a place for it in any case.

I guess my other question would be, taking the other subnet is it safer (from the internet) using this way he or she is just in my mind. I did the on a third location of 'White', the family put their computers (no IP #) when they are just playing games, homework, etc..

    Thank you

I don't think it's possible to run the USB printer on two different subnet. There is no such feature on the router.

  • Problem with connecting to the usb storage to the EA4500 via ftp from the internet

I have trouble to configure my EA 4500 as an FTP server.

I followed all the instructions according to the manual, but cannot access the USB I connected tot the EA4500 of the internet.

When I try to connect my own network, everything works fine.

The configuration I have at home is as follows:

Cable modem ISP--> EA4500--> all computers.

As said, I use the EA 4500 as an FTP server.

If I install an FTP server on one of the computers on my home network and transfer the correct port on the EA4500 for this PC everything works fine and I have access to the internet. Unfortunately, it won't work when using the USB plugged into the EA4500...

    Any help would be great!

    TIA!

When you go to the EA4500 configuration page, have you enabled the FTP server function?

When I set mine up, I have was go the section when you set up the USB (shares, etc.) and turned on FTP.

In the security of the router Security tab, I uncheck the 'Block anonymous Internet requests.

I do know for sure that you have to uncheck this box, but I always turned off this box, just out of habit when setting up a llinksys router.

In any case, this is what I did and it worked fine.

The only other thing I can think is... Your modem is perhaps a nat router. And you have the EA4500 operating on a different subnet. And your modem may possibly be block it.

What is the brand and model of your modem.

  • Setting up a virtual computer on a different subnet?

How to set up this configuration is all new to me.
    Current context:
    Internal subnet: 192.168.1.x
2 - 5.5 ESXi hosts. Each with 4 physical NETWORK adapters
    Configuration is attached.
I have a physical server I want to virtualize but is in a different subnet.
    Replacing the subnet: 192.168.10.x.

I reason assuming that I'll need to add a physical NETWORK card to each host and assign this NETWORK adapter on the computer virtual requiring a different subnet? Or am I way off?

    Thanks in advance!

If your physical switches supports VLAN's then I would say you think to reconfigure the ports for the ESXi host and tag/trunk ports to the VLAN necessary. And create groups of ports VM with the differnet VLAN-ID on the ESXi host. In this way, you can use different subnets on the ESXi host without the need for having dedicated physical rising for each subnet.

  • Target subnet mask and the gateway in different subnets and clock error

    Hi all:

Need help. I have a standalone PC operating a direct VI on a CFP with a crossover ethernet cable (developed on my laptop, compiled and installed as a standalone on the PC). When the VI runs on standalone PC version, everything works (click the button, analyzers are read), but the time being pulled from the CFP is wrong, and infact resets to December 1969, a default value. I am error checking, and no error is marked with the CFP, slaughter programmes. When I go to the MAX function, the time playing of the CFP is the funky time. Looking at the IP addresses, I generally use a very standard protocol (192.168.000.001 for the PC, 192.168.000.002 for the CFP currently running on the subnet for the pc and the PSC 255.255.255.000). However, when I apply this Protocol on the CFP through max, it gives the error "the subnet mask you entered puts the target and the entry door to different subnets." I am not versed enough well understand this, and what I read in 2 postings here, I tried to harmonize the IP numbers and the subnet, and they do not seem to help. When I put intentionally in false numbers IP or subnet default time synchronization time correct (pc), but functions block (as expected). It is certainly not an issue of PC zone.

    Anyone can offer any guidance?

Currently runnig LV 8.2 with drivers of 2009. PSC 1804 with MAX 4.6.

    I appreciate all help.

    Best regards;

    GIS.

OK, I solved it. FYI: for those who are not aware of the IP: IP of the host and default gateway server to the same value. My work for the host computer are 192.168.000.001 and subnet masks can stay 255.255.255.000. The CFP has been set to 198.162.000.002 with a 90.00.00.03 DNS. Time server has been blocked by the Norton 2009 Firewall (even with an exception) and thus the cruxt of this issue together. I had to uninstall completely from this "software". I hope this helps.

  • Slow network traffic / expires at ESXi4 host starting from a different subnet, but customers are very well

I set up a test server ESXi4 and spin various Windows 2003/XP clients and a guest of Vyatta VC5 as my core router.  This has been a strange problem that all traffic to the guests and also are very good, but I can handle only the host with the VI client on the same subnet.  If I can host on a different subnet (even if I leave the cable connected to the same port and vlan), then it becomes unusable.  Many things time out including just trying to download the VI client from the host https page.  Anyone seen this before?

I have 2 configured vSwitches, one on one vlan isolated to my iSCSI traffic to my storage, and the other as a trunk with the VLAN network management and guest vm on it.  My management network is in the same vlan as one of my comments to VLAN.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Can not handle JGS524Ev2 starting from a different subnet

Is the JGS524Ev2 locked down to only allow web management from local subnet?

I used the utility ProSafe Plus to search and detect my new switch from a computer with an address of 192.168.1.0/24. It's the same subnet as my DHCP scope, the switch was detected with a DHCP address.

As soon as I give the switch a static IP address on my management subnet (192.168.3.0/24), the ProSafe utility gave an error about the utility is not not on the same subnet as the switch and now the switch is no longer detected. I can only detect and manage the switch if I'm on the PC which has an IP address on my subnet management.

Is it normal? Is there a way to disable this feature?

Finally had the chance to use Wireshark, all connections to the 192.168.1.0 network were being refused.

I ended up reinstalling the firmware, even if it was the same version and then do a factory reset and everything reconfigure. It is now available.

    Very strange :-/
