  • How Flash the BIOS if you cannot start Windows

    Hello

I have a BIOS virus which prevents ANY version of any operating system Windows to boot at all.

(Linux will start and run fine)

So, to solve this problem, I need re-flashing the BIOS.

Problem is... HP offers only the BIOS as an executable Windows utility.

Can someone help me figure out a way to Flash the BIOS WITHOUT Windows?

    THX

Now, in response to this topic, I discovered a solution...

    HPBIOSFILE.exe - writeromfile /-writehexfile /-writehdrfile

I hope this helps some of you.

    To use this...

    (1) download the executable file (.exe) for BIOS update for your motherboard

    (2) a copy of the program flashing of Award Bios BACK (Google it, easy to find)

    (3) obtain a downloadable copy of the BACK 6.22 (of Microsoft) and create files to start this one.  (possibly another computer to do this).

    (4) start your computer affected in BACK 6.22

    (a) copy the files in a directory

"(b) using the bold line above... type the name of your BIOS instead of the HPBIOSFILE.exe file ' and run the command.

You will find yourself with a ROM file, a BIN file and a header file.

You can now re-Flash your BIOS on your HP computer outside of a Windows environment.

    ENJOY!

  • Satellite Pro A300-257 while flashing the BIOS

    Hello

I have a dilemma. I recently installed windows 7 on my laptop of girlfriends who is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300-257, everything went well until I tried to update the Bios. I followed all instructions on the toshiba site had to put the model number in to get good bios double checked and triple checked before running the program, but when I ran the system crashed to halfway through the closed system update and now it wont even boot lights are on cd player is ROAR a few stays on black screen.

I read many forums and it seems im not the only one with this problem.
I just got the phone to toshiba and they say im not covered because I does not you can call and go through it with them on the phone, even if at no time did he tell me to do that I followed the instructions of there Web site.
I also confirmed with them that I used the correct bios but they say that they are unable to prove that and I can put in the wrong information that I did not.

In my view, there is a program that will allow me to boot from the cd so I don't have to go out and buy a reader external floppy to Flash the bios, I think that his winflash. Unfortunately, all I can find is the executable program on there website which im guessing will not start work.
Anyone know where I can find the prog to update the bios and the bios file so I can create a cd bootable to Flash the bios.

Any help will be appreciated with gratitude

    Thank you very much

    Hi mate

I m afraid there is no alternative to reflash the BIOS to the traditional version of BIOS who can start the BIOS updated using an external USB drive and the floppy disk.

The European driver Toshiba page contains only the BIOS Win-based that can be updated when the windows operating system. The traditional BIOS is not available for download. Only authorized service partners have access to this version of BIOS and that's why I don t see any alternative as to get in touch with the guys and to ask for help.

  • Cannot Flash the BIOS on Satellite L500 due to low battery

    Hey all,.

Obtained as Satellite L500 (PSLS0A-084002) here. I have the battery not charging issue and everything what I find point to an update of the BIOS.

Of course, there is a new BIOS for download from the drivers of laptops. So I have the file WinPhlash "sl500 (mv) _bios_w210.exe. However, by running the fact falling before flashing the BIOS with an error number: 144.

It is because of the battery is bellow 10% charge however I can't it above 10 percent fee that the laptop does not recognize it.

There must be a way of to WinPhlash running without check. I read that you can run it with the "/ forceit" switch and who will be ignoring the error, but that was for some time and it seems WinPhlash have changed this as she always spits the error.

I read running back help but after creating a boot cd back, he claims the exe cannot be run from BACK (ffffuuuuuuuu!).

Any help appreciated. Thank you =).

Maybe it sounds silly now but there at - it something serious, why you want to update the BIOS on your machine? I mean if everything is OK, why do you need new BIOS?

In any case, I'm don't know if this will help but please try to remove the battery and check if the update of the BIOS starts if your laptop works on AC only.

  • Windows 8 fingerprint reader no longer works (need to Flash the BIOS to fix)

I have a DV6-7014nr bought around September of 2012.  I have upgraded to WIndows 8 when it first came out.  I had no problem with the reader of fingerprints on Windows 7, but do not use for a long time.

As the subject says.  I can run it for a few weeks (on Windows 8), and the fingerprint reader stops working.  None of the biometric devices are listed in the Device Manager.  If I try to load the driver, it does nothing, as if the player is simply not there the responsibility of the driver closes just (with no message).

Peripheral Biometirc in the Panel control says there is no biometric device found and simplepass opens without the fingerprint reader recognized.

The only thing that solves this is my BIOS which comes Insyde to re-flashing. It is noted in the setup of the BIOS relating to biometric devices.  I have just discovred that BIOS update solves a problem because there was an update that I applied.  Have to reapply the update of the BIOS to fix this seems excessive to us.

    Added March 29, 2013:

I just re-applied the BIOS two days ago and already the figerprint teader plug working again.  I tried a hard reset (because I saw that as a solution previously, and it is easier and faster to re-flashing the BIOS).  Who has shut down, remove the battery, now the power for 30 seconds button, boot the system without the battery.  He has not fixed the problem and I can't even understand why the fingerprint reader keeps disabling.  A re-BIOS flash solves the problem, it seems that the problem must be with the BIOS software.  Oh I also had turned off the "Allow windows to turn off the device to save power" for the biometric device before he went kaput.  It doesn't stop of is suckier.

There must be a better way.

    Thank you

  • Cannot Flash the BIOS on A100 (PSAA8E) - flash process freezes

    Hey everybody.

I am owner of a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-283 (PSAA8E-1DL044GR)

I intend to move the CPU (T1350) to a T2400 dual core.

Before I open the laptop to install the new CPU, I want to assure you that the BIOS will support it-so, I want to upgrade the BIOS to the newest 6.00 version on the Toshiba support site.

The flash BIOS (S10V600.exe) file is a self-extracting RAR starts automatically the good process of WinPhlash.

Unfortunately, the last step in the WinPhlash process does not start.
Instead, the system locks up completely with a CPU usage to 100% (spinning fan at full speed).

The new BIOS only if written to the BIOS chip since I hard-restarting the laptop and normally boot my linux system. The BIOS is always the version 2.00.

    My questions:

-Any of you who have already updated the BIOS on this system knew what could cause this?
-What operating system did you use to Flash the BIOS?

I was running Flash on a WinXP SP3 LiveCD (Hiren Boot CD) utility, the file loading flash BIOS from a USB storage device (I don't have Windows and would like to avoid to get a new SATA drive and install a 'real' windows there just to upgrade my BIOS, but I would if it could be the only way to get the BIOS flashed)

Your help is greatly appreciated, thanks and greetings from Germany to the rest of Europe!

    > Before I open the laptop to install the new CPU, I want to assure you that the BIOS will support it-thus, I would like to upgrade the BIOS to the newest 6.00 version on the Toshiba support site

First update the BIOS won't help you if the old BIOS would not support the new processor.
In General, you can only use the CPU that is supported by the chipset.
As much as I know, that the new processors are not added to new versions of BIOS

    > What OS did you use to Flash the BIOS?
Since the available BIOS version is based on the Windows version, you must use the Windows which has been pre-installed by Toshiba.
In many cases, the update of the BIOS requires VAP (value added package) which is necessary if you are running Vista or Win7.

  • Flashing the BIOS

I have a m92p office, the system update suggests that I flashed the BIOS as a newer version is available.

I have no problem with the current BIOS I'm running and I always said, if you are not problems with your system, an update of the BIOS should not be done.

Thus inspired, I'll stay with the BIOS, I am running.

Anyone see any reason I should put in day?

    Thank you

It is always good to keep everything up to date, but if you're not used to perform tasks such as the flashing etc. BIOS. Then you can be wary about this procedure.

So, if you experience any problems at the moment and your current BIOS is able to detect all your H/W correctly i.e. CPU RAM & (including the choice of speed), then there is no really no reason for your to Flash the BIOS, if you look at the changelog for the latest version of the BIOS, including versions between your version and the latest version You can read what has changed since your version. If nothing is so NO there is not a reason for you to FLASH your BIOS. But somehow that you can FLASH is perhaps that there is a feature that has been added you want.

The only time where you need to, is if you upgrade your CPU or RAM, if newer models are loose they may not work without a FLASH of the BIOS.

So 'if it ain't broke don't fix it! " Lol, it's what I say to my friends.

    Thank you

  • The safest way to Flash the BIOS?

What is the safest way to Flash the BIOS?

I know, starting when cold, remove all devices usb, LAN, WLAN, close all applications...

Perhaps, in addition, Safe Mode might be safer?

Or a new installation without pilot system is perhaps better?

The best way to update a BIOS done upgrade under the DOS environment. This is because the nature of the system of the device itself (he has no protection).

If you want flash on Windows just restart your computer (do not sleep your computer once restarted), disable any anti-malware software and close all open windows.

You can also try to flash in Mode without failure, but I do not recommend it, because in this mode, Windows disables all its services. Not sure if the BIOS update need to package one of them (a priori that it isn't).

    Best regards.

  • ProBook 470 G3: ProBook 470 G3 fan system after flashing the BIOS errors

B has recently purchased a HP ProBook 470 G3 with i7 CPU. When I got the laptop I placed my own memory and M.2 SSD in and performed a clean installation of Windows 10 x 64. Everything was fine, I installed all the drivers and the laptop worked perfectly. However, when I flashed the new BIOS, V1.07 Rev A, I started to have problems.

I use the laptop for academic purposes, I so open and close several times a day. After flashing the BIOS again, the laptop awake sometimes not, and trying to turn off it I had to remove the battery. Would not even holding down the power button for 20 seconds. While booting after removing the battery, I'd get a system error, 90 b error code fan.

I tried re flashing version 1.07, but returned eventually to version 1.06. This version works very well. It was a real let up to me, given that this laptop costs €1400,- and should be a book reliable business.

Is their another experiecing the same problems? If so, how do fix you it? And no one knows when they will be a stable version of BIOS V1.07?

Use the PC Hardware diagnosis UEFI to restore the previous BIOS so that that you flashed cause questions.

Press the power button and then immediately begin to press the F2 key to evoke the Diagnostics menu.

Choose firmware management. In the menu next, choose and click on revert to the previous version.

You can also create and use the 3-in-1 usb to accomplish the same.

  • I need help to Flash the bios. I have an Aspire 5810TZ. I start and it just says: "acer".

I need help to Flash the bios. I have an Aspire 5810TZ. I start and he just says "acer" and goes no further. I went to the download page for BIOS on us.acer.com and it has a zip file with 5 files:
    JM4151135.exe
    IN FLORIDA...
    GPC_V135.bin
    Readme.txt
    FLASH. BAT
What should I do? I tried to copy the files on a USB key and turn on/off with Fn + ESC key. After the release the power button and pressed Fn - Esc another screen appears after 30 seconds. I gave up and gave her 30 minutes but it does nothing. I read another person that should be flashing power button online. I have to rename one of the files. Help, please!

Aspire 5810TZ menu of frozen startup.

    I finally understand it.

I couldn't start a back b/c drive, it me did not start anything.

I followed this chain of logic:

-Downloaded the bios (2.35 is the one that worked for me)
-Find the exe file in the winflash file.
-Extract the files in archive exe using the 7-Zip program
-Find the .fd file and rename it to JM41X64. FD (I read in a forum was unique in my laptop)
-Copied JM41X64. FD and FLASH it is. EXE on a USB
-A the battery and the hard drive out.
-With its trendy diet I supported Fn + Esc and that you press the power button once while ensuring that the Fn + Esc has been always held down.
-J' waited 6 seconds and release the Fn + Esc and seen the flashing flash player
-After about 10 minutes, restarted the machine and the bios as like new.

Later, I found that there was a hard drive problem.

I want you guys should help more. All I needed was the name of the JM41X64 file. FD and you don't know how many hours I put into trying to find how simpy bios flash. It is not that difficult for someone with a b.s. in computer science to learn how. Couldn't we a m.s. back b/c the bios drive was messed up. F12 didn't work.

  • How Flash the BIOS on Aspire S3-391 when no present OS?

I have a new Acer Aspire Ultrabook S3-391-6862.  I want to update the BIOS on the unit, but has difficulty because there is no OS on the Ultrabook again (it came with Win8 on it but I wiped the HARD drive to put Win7 on it).  I downloaded the latest BIOS (BIOS_Acer_2.17_A_A.zip) and unpacked.  It contains 2 files:
    (1) HB2V217.exe (size = 4, 664, 003 bytes)
    (2) Readme.txt (this simply says "Windows flash: Please click on 'HB2V217.exe' to update the bios").

I then added this "HB2V217.exe" (4 664 003 bytes) the Win7 DVD (I did a DVD ISO, then adds the "HB2V217.exe" of the ISO file, then burned a new DVD of Win7 from this new ISO standard).
The new DVD of Win7 boots fine, date at which I hit 'SHIFT - F10' to a command prompt, navigate to the "HB2V217.exe" file and run it, date at which it gives me a message error "subsystem required to support the image is not present.

    Other misc notes:
    -If I look inside the "HB2V217.exe" (4 664 003 bytes) with 7Zip, it contains 4 files:
    (1) HB2V217.exe (size = 4564828, but it has the same name, as it is the container for HB2V217.exe 4 664 003 bytes).
    (2) PopMsg.exe
    (3) wFlash.bat
    (4) wFlash.exe

    Obvious questions:
-Should I copy the 4 files for installing Win7 disc rather than their container?
-Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

Thank you for your help Jean Philippe, although I have now solved the problem, though in a different way.
To answer your question though, the latest version of BIOS was 2.09.

My solution was tedious but I downloaded "WinPE", built a flash drive bootable with it, the file copied BIOS "HB2V217.exe" (version 4 664 003 bytes) in the flash drive, booted from the flash player, sailed to "HB2V217.exe" and run it, date on which she flashed BIOS 2.17 new to the Ultrabook and rebooted, and success.

For anyone who has the same problem, it was my convoluted solution (in a manner of long-term assuming that those who read it are not familiar with some aspects of computers).
-on another computer, I did the following:
    (1) - download Windows ADK ("adksetup.exe"), which is free (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30652).
2-) plugged a USB key (something more bigger than 200 MB is fine).
    (3) - open windows explore and noted the drive letter of the USB Flash drive, I just plugged.
    (4) - ran the "adksetup.exe" and chose only "Windows PE" of all it's features (I forget if I run 'adksetup.exe' once or twice, but have downloaded more than 3 GB of files in total.
    (5) ' adksetup.exe' run and got a box of command prompt.  I typed in this box (but without the quotation marks):
    (6) "copype x 86 C:\WinPE_x86" (I chose 32 bit (x 86) version, although it may either have worked). "
    7-) after he finished I typed ' MakeWinPEMedia/UFD C:\WinPE_x86 E:.
(8-) where "E:" is the letter of your Flash drive you noted in step 3.
-NOTE that it will erase and format your USB Flash drive, so be sure you don't have any data you want to keep on it and make sure that you have given the CORRECT DRIVE LETTER or YOU WILL FORMAT AND LOSE DATA ON a DRIVE OTHER!
9-) copied the "HB2V217.exe" file for BIOS I unzipped from the zip file, I had downloaded from Acer, for the flash to the root drive.
10-) moved the to the Ultrabook of Acer and started the Ultrabook USB Flash drive (after setting it's BIOS to boot from the USB ports).
    (11) - target navigation on drive "C:" of the Ultrabook in this is the command line by typing:
    (12)-"c:".
    (13)-"HB2V217.exe".
(14): the Ultrabook of Acer seems to restart twice because it flashes the BIOS and gives you a course.
15-) after it's all done, restart the Ultrabook and enter the BIOS to check the version of your BIOS is now new and correct.

There is probably an easier way to make a bootable stick with Windows on it, but nothing I tried seemed to work, so I was stuck with this complicated scheme.

It would have been nicer if Acer had provided their BIOS image independent bootable OS as do so many other manufacturers, so you could simply image/burn the image to a floppy or CD/DVD and then Flash bootable BIOS boot media.

In any case, thanks for your help, and maybe it helps others as well.

  • flashing the bios on hp 2000 2b09wm

Uefi bios recovery does not work on my computer of nothingness has the .exe files that are bios I would like TO TRY to FLASH THE BIOS BUT I don't KNOW WHERE to GO.

If there is no need to update the BIOS, it is strongly recommended that you do not.   Updating the BIOS is an inherently risky thing to do. It is less, so with UEFI, but only if you know what you're doing.

If you absolutely feel that you need to update the BIOS, and then download the most recent BIOS update softpaq and then double click it. Turn off not your PC until it is completed. If you ignore it, you will find what is the risk of updating the BIOS and what means a motherboard 'bricks '.

The recovery procedure does that if you updated the BIOS at least once. That said. It does not work, but it can't be a copy of an old BIOS present in the partition HP_Tools on your hard drive for her to use at the moment.
