Floppy drive and CD players do not Up on my computer in Windows Explorer

He is a teacher of Windows 7 machine.  Under computer, in Windows Explorer, show my two hard drives; but my floppy drive and CD discs do not show.  Currently, none of the disks has a disc inserted.

However, if I click on computer, they all appear in the right pane on the devices with removable storage section.  If I double-click on any of the readers, it tells me to insert a disc, so I guess they are recognized.

Under Tools, Folder Options, view, the option hide readers empty in the computer folder is disabled, so presumably, this isn't the problem.  Curiously, if I put a CD in one of the two drives and a floppy drive in the floppy drive, the CD come listed under the computer however, the floppy drive is still missing!

How can I get the missing CD and floppy drive will appear under computer all the time, the inserted media or not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

I know this is a very late response, but I had the same problem recently until I went into 'Organize' > "Folder and Search Options" and under the general tab in the "Navigation Pane" section, I checked the option titled 'Show all files' (this option for some reason any seemed to be solely responsible to hide my floppy drive and CD-ROM/DVD-ROM readers in only the Navigation pane just as you knew) for my own peace of mind I have also checked the option "Automatically extend to the current folder" so that the navigation pane would show the folder in which I was currently reviewing (as it did in Windows XP).

I hope this helps someone else who has this problem and falls on this thread.

    Hello

Disks: I don't think so. I always keep 25 floppy disks for Windows 95, should be a few thousand disks for Windows 10. Very, very, very expensive to store files and transport.

Of DVD: would soon come out, new machines will have 10 Windows (who knows) pre-installed or downloaded. You can always find Windows 10 DVD in some countries where users will still have to use dial-up Modem.

    Hope it makes sense.

Red flag.  CCcleaner.  If you used to "clean" your registry database, which can cause problems.  CCcleaner is also a good program, but registry cleaners do not help and remove what they think are "unused" entries in the registry that can cause problems later.

Try to download the Real Player and see if that corrects your problem, but if it is not, you may need to restore your computer to the factory settings by your user guide's instructions.

When you got your system back as you, I invite you to buy an external hard drive, and a good backup 3rd party program. You can configure it to automatically do everything in time and frequency of your choice. External hard drives 1 TB are about $85 these days and a very good FREE backup program corresponds to the Easeus todo backup free of charge that you can download from

http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm . Who can make you save a lot of time and frustration, the next time something like this happens. Sooner or later, it happens to all computers for one reason or another.

    Good luck.

  • Re-installation of 98. floppy drive and the CD Player do not work

    Hello
I loaded 98 in our 3410 CT. 98 is installed, but the system has not picked up on our floppy (usb) and our cd. I know I have to get the drivers here, but how? The cd will not work because it has no driver present as is the case for the floppy drive. The boring bit, is that I have the driver on a separate disk. Any body has any suggestions.

    Hello

I'm not 100% sure here, but I think you can resolve your situation by enabling legacy mode USB FDD in BIOS (if not already done), and then boot from a drive to floppy BACK/Win9X and then copy the drivers to the HARD disk.

    Try this:

-Turn on your 3480 but look out for the Toshiba logo!
-When you see the logo very quickly press the ESC key several times (normally just 1 time will do, but that's if you know just WHEN to press it).
-You will receive a message saying PRESS F1 key... Do this.
-You are now in the BIOS. Look for a setting that says something like "Legacy USB FDD mode". Set it to "Enabled".
-Also look around to make sure that the boot priority is set to FDD as first boot-unit.
-Save the settings by pressing END, then answer Yes to the question "are you '.
-To get a bootable BACK / Win9X floppy. Insert into the disk drive and start the machine from him.
-Now manually copy the floppy drivers (unzip it first!) the floppy drive in a temporary directory on the HARD drive.
-Copy the drivers (2 versions exist) and the driver on the CD while you're there.
-Reboot, start Windows and enter the Devicemanager to update the missing drivers from the temp directory.

    TADA!

    Good luck!

I read everything I can find on this problem. I don't have any roxio software on my machine and this driver is associated with the roxio software. This problem just started a week ago. the only program I have installed is corel photo album 6. I uninstalled the driver and then win7 reinstalls on reboot with the same problem. This is associated with a recent windows update? is there a registry fix? WTF?

    Kent...

    Hello

The updates that you have installed?

We are not sure what could have caused this problem. You can try to remove the affected filter drivers and check. This helped little.

To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Warning There may be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must ensure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the default data value is the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM and the class data value is CDROM.

    3. in the right pane, click UpperFilters, and then click on remove.
    4. click on Yes to confirm the deletion of the UpperFilters registry entry.
    5. in the right pane, click LowerFilters, and then click on remove.
    6. click on Yes to confirm the deletion of the LowerFilters registry entry.
    7. exit the registry editor and then restart the computer.

Note After the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry and the LowerFilters registry entry, you may lose functionality in certain programs such as CD recording programs. In this scenario, you must reinstall all of the programs involved.

Copy the files to a flash usb without all the folders drive.

With the flash player and the installation of W7 media connected to the computer, boot from the installation of W7 media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

I did find something online that contains all the system boot or start specific drivers. Windows and harddrive was working in another computer just before he was switched. Let me know if you need other information.

    Thank you.

First of all you are missing probably a number of device drivers, particularly the network card driver and the driver of the motherboard.  Use your XP disk to perform a repair installation.  This should go a long way toward you're going to get.  If your new box has a driver disc that should help a lot.  You can't port XP perfectly the way you did.   It usually requires a repair installation to fix the hardware abstraction layer. Hello

Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

I suggest you follow the methods and check them off below if it helps.

    Method 1:

Try the troubleshooting hardware and devices running tool and check.
    Reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

    Method 2:

Check your hard drive for errors:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/check-a-drive-for-errors

Note: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

    Method 3:

Initialize the disk in disk management.

Create and format a hard disk partition : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Create-and-format-a-hard-disk-partition

Note: Converting a hard disk partition or volume from NTFS to FAT32 requires that you reformat the partition, which deletes all the data on this subject. Be sure to back up data that you want to keep before you begin.

    Method 4:

Try to connect with another computer and check if it helps.

If the problem is still persist, then it would be best to contact Seagate for further assistance.
