FMS 2 on linux: linuxthreads, Nptl or?

Hello

I installed FMS2 on 32-bit linux gentoo, it worked fine with the platformwarn flag.

I can run the server in Internet Explorer, connect to the admin, a load request.
But when I try to connect with my application (locally or not), I always failed to connect.

Is - this Adobe (or well) anyone answer this question?

FMS works with linuxthreads-0, 10? because when I start my server I have this:

FMS pclinux #. / Start Server
LinuxThreads-0, 10
From Macromedia Flash Media Server (Please check the logs)

but I've seen many tutorials where the command line was like that:

%. / Start Server
NPTL 2.3.4
From Macromedia Flash Media Server (Please check the logs)

Thanks for your reply and excuse my poor English

OK the probem was linuxthreads.
NPTL is absolutely necessary.
now its work

  • FMS 2.01/Linux - where profiles gone?

If we try to implement the FMS on a Linux machine, and this whole profile thing has been a huge pain.

First, the documentation does not explain how to go from 100 users/unlimited to 2500 users/25Mbps. After a week, we * finally * find the page notes explaining about the profiles in the licenses / dir.

    Except... They do not exist!

In short, the licenses / directory in which the different profiles are supposed to be? Empty. No profile.

    On the CD? Nothing.

    Documentation? Nothing

Telephone support from Adobe? Well... 20 hours later, nothing.

What happens here? How can I set up FMS on Linux to manage 2500 users when profiles are non-existent and noone at Adobe will help?

Help! We have a large project that is actually stopped, because we cannot set up FMS as advertised, and no one can explain what is wrong!

Because you are installing from a CD, I guess you have an outdated version of FMS. Selectable license profiles have been added to an update (2.0.2 I think), so you will not have them if you are using an old version.

  • Apache sees no .htm or .html files not being not part of original FMS Linux installation

After an apparently successful installation of FMS 3.5 on a remote server in Red Hat (a browser pointed at webroot poster the index.html file provided with the RTMP and HTTP work), I tried to move videoplayer.html in the same directory webroot to test. It is not seen (404 error) of my browsers (IE or Firefox) but shows well with all permissions in my console Putty and Filezilla SFTP. I then tried copy and rename the other existing .htm or .html to this directory (and then other directories) files from the console (using cp) and with SFTP, but they are too invisible to my browser. All the .htm and .html files that were part of the original installation, however, are still visible in my browser.  I tried to restart the FMS server and confirmed that Apache was also revived but still no luck. This is my first post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This may seem a stupid question, so I apologize in advance, but I made mistakes even more stupid than that, so I have to ask:

Are you sure that the index.html and the file now used are the same as those it serves? (Normally, the web root is/opt/adobe/fms/webroot on linux, if I remember correctly. You can have another directory with the same or similar files elsewhere and you add new files only elsewhere). Edit one of the files in a certain way and see if the change will appear in your browser.

This may seem like an even dumber question, but are you sure you use FMS apache rather than the stock of Red Hat one?

Web server logs (and configs and all but root doc) are under the apache2 directory. 2 (/opt/adobe/fms/Apache2.2/logs, by default).

  • Installation in silent mode of the FMS?

Is it possible to do a silent install of the FMS on a Linux platform? Don't generally install us Xwindows libraries unless absolutely necessary. I don't see any information in theinstallation and Setup Guide for 5.6.10 i indicating there is a way to do it.

This is specified in edocs under silent mode

    http://eDOCS.quest.com/Foglight-storage/300/doc/core/installation-unixEmbedded/IG_Before_Installing.4.php

Although in this KB article "what is the syntax for a mode Setup silent FMS or upgrade on Unix / Linux?

    https://support.software.Dell.com/kb/sol78202

Please note that you don't have to have xwindows installed, you can also run Setup with-i console for a text mode install http://edocs.quest.com/foglight-storage/300/doc/Core/Installation-unixEmbedded/IG_Before_Installing.4.php

    Hope this helps

    Hi James,

Sorry, it took a while to get back.  It is a known problem that will be fixed in the next version of FMS.  The problem is the structure of/proc/meminfo is read into a buffer of fixed size and in this case the print is too big and it overflows.  This structure changes in the size of time in time, that this would explain why its incompatible.

I don't have a good workaround for the moment another alternative that remove items declared in/proc/meminfo - but this would require a change in core, AFAIK.  You may need also some success with symbolic/proc/meminfo to a truncated version of the file in the view - of the FMS or maybe denied access altogether to the FMS in this hierarchical structure.

Whatever it is, question is and already fixed for the next version.

  • new facility, now what that?  Tests of vod

Sorry to be a noob, but I have installed and am assessment Adobe Media Server for our Organization.

I installed fms on a linux machine, the URL of the index page is: http://mydomain/FMS/

    He plays the sample videos.

I read the Dev Guid, it says "to release files on RTMP only, copy files to RootInstall/applications/vod/media. To stream files on RTMP and enable progressive download via HTTP, copy files to RootInstall/webroot/vod. »

OK, great.  I downloaded my videos.  It is called: RootInstall/applications/vod/media/videotest.flv.

    Now what?

I can access videos vod/webroot/directly through the browser. http://mydomain/FMS/VOD/vid.FLV

How to stream the video in RootInstall/applications/vod/media/videotest.flv?

I want to integrate the flash player in a web page on a different server, but I can't figure out how.

Are there more as a "user's Guide" documentation other than the installation documentation and dev guide?

    Thank you

    Jeph

    Hi Nicolas,.

The Dev Guide is an example of creating a multimedia player from scratch - the files are installed with FMS:

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaServer/3.5_Deving/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11a0773d1 17 - 7fc8.html #WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11a0773d117-7fe5

There are links at the bottom of this page for media players pre-built you can use, including the FLVPlayback component. The link, I think you should check is a DevNet article that guides you through the use of the FLVPlayback component:

    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/beginner_vod_fm3.html

After having tested locally, download the SWF file and the HTML file on your web server and let the FLV file in the vod/media folder. To see the video, simply open the HTML page in a browser. When you press play, the FLVPlayback component contact FMS and plays the video.

    Hope that helps,

    Jody

  • FMS 4.5 livepkgr application breaks down Linux server using any memory

We run FMS 4.5.7 associated with the application of the standard livepkgr for direct RTMP and HLS (HDS module disabled streamer). For some reason any after 30 minutes process httpd starts using memory system more and more, and in a minute or two, it blocks the server because it completely empty memory. It doesn't matter how many users are connected to the stream. What I've noticed, is that if there is no user HLS (or HLS is disabled) fine, however it is enough to connect at least one user TLS on the server after 30 minutes and the memory usage begins to increase. If the user connects to 0 - 30 minute window it market.

I tried to play with the recording options in Event.xml for that stream to flow, but it did not help. I tried to save in a file and in segments.

Our server has 32 GB of RAM.

We have modified the file of Apache configuration for workflow Sandbox HLS at the instance level, but it should not be a problem, shouldn't it?

    < location/hls-live >
    True HLSHttpStreamingEnabled
    HttpStreamingLiveEventPath '... / applications/livepkgr/events/_definst_.
    HttpStreamingURLSandboxLevel 'Inst '.
    HttpStreamingContentPath '... / applications.
    HLSMediaFileDuration 8000
    HLSSlidingWindowLength 6
    HLSFmsDirPath "..".
    HLSM3U8MaxAge 2
    HLSTSSegmentMaxAge - 1
    HLSMaxEventAge 300
    HttpStreamingUnavailableResponseCode 503

    Options - Indexes FollowSymLinks
    < / location >

P.S. We also run application vod in parallel for RTMP and HLS vod streaming. RTMP of VSD and CTS works very well.

After two weeks, I finally solved it.

Anyone faced with the same question, make sure you have the serial number of the license charge AND fully rebooted server. At least under Linux by restarting the server through Flash Media Administrator Console let some zombie processes running that blocks the license from loading correctly. Restart all OS instead.

  • Do not generate a dump in FMS on Linux

    Hello world

I've missed in the generation core. ###.

I added a line 'ulimit - c unlimited' based on server startup. I killed by "killall - 6 fmsedge" fmsedge process. The process to kill but no basis. # file is finally seen in/opt/adobe/fms.

Someone here could give me a hint?

    Thank you!

"you should be able to generate your blocking the fmsedge dump if you are running as root, try to change your UID and GID 0 in your fms.ini - that should give you the necessary permissions to create the dump to hang.

(of course, I'm sure this has security implications, so I would change it, once you have the crashdump).

This is how you can generate the crash dump.

    See you soon,.

  • UNIX and LINUX syntax

I'll run the command of our current server of the FMS line failure.  Est./fglcmd.sh - usr xxxxx - xxxxx - cmd topology pwd syntax: blackoutobject scheduelname - xxxxx-query ' AppMonitor_ProcessTotals where monitoredHost.name = "xxxxx"

The syntax of this command will be different on a LINUX Server?

The syntax will be the same if the fglcmd is running on a Unix or Linux FMS server.

If the fglcmd is managed from a remote Linux server, FMS is located on a Unix server) then the syntax must include the srv - and - port

  • for fms services initialization script?

VFoglight 6.6 under Linux.  Currently, when the server restarts, it must go and manually start the services fms ("" / opt/quest/FMS/bin/fms - d ' ").  I know that we can add to the inittab, but we prefer to have an initialization script where we could start, restart, stop, etc..  Is not difficult to write one, but I wonder if someone already has one that will allow them to share?

    Thank you!

    Init scripts are in

  • Windows monitor linux host

    Hello

I have FMS on Linux OS.

Using the cartridge infrastructure I'm tring to monitor windows host.

    I get errors when connecting.

I know that port 135 must be open and WMI profits as well.

The problem is that I can't open the port range.

Is there a way to monitor the Windows host without having to open the ports of WMI all?

    Best regards

    Victor

In my opinion, that these problems are associated with this discussion.

I agree, you must configure WinRM on windows host and see if the connection can be established. If WinRM is configured, it will be judged by WMI.

    FAM-3884

A Manager Agent on a Linux platform cannot establish a connection to WMI for Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Vista with a local user to the administrator group.

    FAM-3864

A Manager Agent on a Linux platform cannot establish a WMI connection on a monitored Windows host when the Windows Firewall is enabled.

Is there an analog for the netmonitor when we use windows server 2012 as a fglam Server?

    Thank you

To deploy the OS cartridge on new platforms such as Windows Server 2012 through the browser interface, you may need to enable the Show packets checkbox all platforms on the Agent Host dashboards or the status of the Agent show a package that is compatible with the platform.

Under Linux may see you the effects of the BONE-1077: The OS carts require 32-bit libraries that are not installed by default on many modern Linux distributions. For more information on the alternatives available, see http://edocs.quest.com/foglight/567/files/CartridgeForOperatingSystems_554_ReleaseNotes_Revision3.html#OS-1077

I have not seen the problem of 32-bit library occur on a Windows system before, I don't know if this could also be part of the question on Windows Server 2012, and what alternatives might be possible.
  • Question about creating a diagram of flow/tape combo in a FMS dashboard

    Hello

I searched it but found no matches.

How to create a flow indicator combo + graphic Strip in a FMS dashboard like what is shown below?  This was taken from the dashboard of the hosts for an agent of Linux operating system.

    Thank you

    "mark".

Confirmed. This is the component view Flow Gauge . You can create and configure in WCF. A combined view of provision as the screenshot you posted could be created as a portlet drag - déposer takes it a host as context.

  • FMS 4.5 Streaming HDS of no default location

We have 4.5 FMS, installed in the usual location on the c: to a server.

We want to store video content in E:\Videos vod with subfolders for different sets of content. our test uses a subfolder with videos and a file manifest.  The manifest looks like this:

    Single bitrate

    "url =" + hostname + "/ hds-vod/test/Cars_Edited_Demo.mp4.f4m" + link + '& type = httpsingle' (that works)

    Flow binary multi

I guess that the problem is an incorrect configuration setting that I simply do not see.  Tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Peter,.

All of your settings seem to be fine except for the manifet file. Your directory structure should be E:/videos/test /, your manifest file urls must be:... /.. / HDS-VOD/test/sample1_500kbps. F4V. F4M

This is because the URLS in the manifest are taken from the url of the manifest file. Thus, when you... / HDS-VOD/test/sample1_500kbps. F4V. F4M, demand will be like hostname+"/vod/hds-vod/test/sample1_500kbps.f4v.f4m but you need individual applications to be hostname+"/hds-vod/test/sample1_500kbps.f4v.f4m

Please try with your manifest as:

    http://ns.Adobe.com/F4M/2.0">

Let me know if it helps.

    Thank you

    Apurva

  • CGI on FMS AWS?

    I'm going crazy here.

On my PC (Windows 7) development, I am able to create some Perl Scripts and execute them in included with FMS, Apache 2.2 Web server.

On AWS (CentOS Linux), the script does not run, it downloads just like if it was a file html or text. I changed the httpd. CONF according to http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/howto/cgi.html but not matter what I do I get the same result. A raw list of my script.

The pointers (including another forum) would be greatly appreciated.

I am a newbie to Linux and Apache, but I got the job of CGI by this change
