Foglight | Configure the failover of database mirroring

Hello

How to set up failover for mirring database.

I tried this configuration:

My FMS application a database is xxx.xxx.xx.14 and mirring server is located in xxx.xx.xxx.16, and the witness server is xx.xxx.xxx.26

and finally I changed the server configuration file in FMS (server.database.host = "xxx.xx.xxx.16" ;)

After I tried to restart, but it didn't... Please help me solve this problem.

What type of DB are you using?

I suggest you to consult the guide to high availability

It's the 5.6.10 version http://edocs.quest.com/foglight/5610/files/FoglightHighAvailability_Field.pdf

Specifically to work with Oracle RAC, you have this info

    Hello

We are on the BSG with 11.2.0.3 version of DB. For unknown reasons, we would like to recreate the logic of the standby database and for this I want to cleanly remove/uninstall/remove LOGIC of DATABASE of the EVE of the DATA GUARD configuration that we have.

Setup of the DG has already 1 PHYSICAL STANDBY DATABASE that works very well. PRIM, PHYSICAL and LOGIC are all on different HOSTS. Could you please guide or we suggest exact MOS Doc id in this regard? I found an MOS Doc id which is close enough, but its steps include dg configuration completely deleting what I don't want. Hello

We have upgraded the oracle database to new version 11g. We use HFM 11.1.1.3 version. When I tried to configure the new database oracle with existing shared Services HFM, the EPM Configurator is suspended. Please could you clarify the below a few questions before starting the configuration of the database.

    1. don't we want to modify properties or configuration files before starting the EMP Configurator?

    2. If we want to edit the file reg.properties, which is the password shows in the file reg.properties (here is the structure of the reg.properties file)? If I have to give password of Oracle database schema?

    JDBC. URL = jdbc\:hyperion\:oracle\: / / xxxxx;
    password =?
    JDBC. Driver = Hyperion.JDBC.Oracle.OracleDriver
    local. Value = #.
    username = schemaname

    Thank you

Is it a new database server that you want to configure? As if he was just updated, you should not need to do anything.
If this is a new database server, then have a read of the doc within Oracle Support - "How To Change Shared Services repository database in EMP 11 [ID 976279.1]".

  • Bug in "DBSS" - not available on a database mirror? Or a real failure?

Does anyone else make false positives on 'DBSS' rule - not available for mirrored databases?

Once every week or two I get a fatal alert "Not available" for the 'DBSS' rule - not available on all databases mirrored to my server.  It takes only a few minutes in Foglight, then goes back to a normal state.

I looked at the newspaper database monitoring for the mirror and the principle, all SQL server and Agent logs, all the server event logs... nothing.  The history of all mirrored databases have no signs of availability according to the real itself SQL Server issues.

The only reference to this rule Foglight is:

    https://support.quest.com/search/SolutionDetail.aspx?ID=SOL76183

Go through the article, I looked at the data stored in the "DB" State for the affected databases, it says "Not available" for the times, that the alert has developed.  However, I can't find anywhere on the current SQL Server where this error can come.

I have not particualrly want to go rushing to false positives fatal alert indicating that my mirror is not available

Any thoughts on what I might try?  Everyone knows about this problem?

Or is this just a blip?

    See you soon,.

    Thank you, Paul.

We opened a proof of support as well.  It turns out that we have the updated version of the cartridge, is currently under investigation.

  • The Citadel 5 database engine installation

    Hello

I just bought DIAdem Advanced and want to connect to a database the Citadel (developed by a 3rd party) 5 on our local network to view and analyze the data. When I tried to configure a new data store in the DIAdem browser section, I got an error message saying:

"You cannot configure the selected data source:

The National Instruments Citadel 5 database engine has not been installed on this computer. »

I can't determine how to install this engine. Some research, I think he can come in the context of the LabVIEW Datalogging & supervisory control Module (that I did not and seems to cost extra money). Can someone advise how best to get it?

    Thank you very much

    PorridgeMan.

    Hi PorridgeMan,

As a user of tiara, all you need is to download and install the following driver:

    "Systems development/Run-Time of lookout 6.2 - x 86 Windows 2000/Vista/XP - Web Client"

... that you will find at the following ADDRESS:

    http://Joule.NI.com/nidu/CDs/view/p/ID/1142/lang/en

Note that you will also need to go to your universe of Citadel in MAX and create a profile for the external db Citadel that you want to connect before it appears as a selectable item in the DIAdem data store dialog box.

Let us know if you still have problems connecting,

  • Configuration of a historical database of separate management

I am deploying new infrastructure Active 7 roles alongside my ARS 6.9 production. Of all the ARS earlier versions, I kept the Configuration and the history of management within the same database, for example ActiveRoles69.

I want to sever the two databases above.

Can someone enlighten as on all the advantages and disadvantages of the separate databases?

Someone has set up separate databases in production, and if so, can you provide a positive feedback or negative of this decision?

    Thanks for any comments.
    -Steve

I always recommend to have separate databases, for several reasons.

With an active role, the management history database is not just a static database. It's actually the product performance data. Write to the database as we of the tasks, and then run reports by querying the actual work that has been done. In busy environments, or environments have been the history of change in retention period has been increased beyond the default of 30 days, this can mean that the execution of the SQL instance hosting the database of management history can actually be a bottleneck for performance of the product. Separate databases makes it easy to migrate the database of management resources for new equipment or a cluster if necessary more gourmet story.

In addition, since the history of database management is read from and written to many more often, it is more likely to suffer from malformation, since the software is a public medium. This can sometimes mean that the history of management database must be archived, a new database created and the data recovered using the wizard to transfer in the history of management or the control center roles Active. It is a resource that I created to help with the rare cases:

This process is much easier if the databases are separated.

  • How to plan the failover for the following scenarios in Flex-connect mode.

The following queries are against the AP high availability (no SSO failover or controller HA), which means that if a controller fails, the AP will be failover to the secondary controller that is in a different location than Geo. the AP will be to connect Flex with local switching and local authorization mode: in this scenario, here are my questions

1: if I have a SSID that has a set of interfaces that are connected to him, can I switch it on the other controller where there may be a single WLAN connected. ?

2:do, we need to subnet masks to match both ends?

3: if I have a SSID with open authentication, can I configure the SSID of the remote network without authentication?

4: can someone link me to the top with a document that explains the configuration of the case study of the flex-connect mode fail on scenarios.

Any help given would be really appreciated.

    Thank you.

1: if I have a SSID that has a set of interfaces that are connected to him, can I switch it on the other controller where there may be a single WLAN connected. ?

The groups interface works only for centrally switch not locally

2:do, we need to subnet masks to match both ends?

    See #1

3: if I have a SSID with open authentication, can I configure the SSID of the remote network without authentication?

If you configure an SSID with open authentication, then the all having APs SSID assigned to it will use.  Open authentication is identical to no authentication.

4: can someone link me to the top with a document that explains the configuration of the case study of the flex-connect mode fail on scenarios.

Do a search on Google for 'FlexConnect deployment guide It will have links to failover.

  • Remove the failover unit

I have a client who wants to remove their unity failover server. The unit is 4.0 (3) SR1. I removed all the stuff of CallManager thus failover is turned off but I was wondering what I would do on the server of the unit remaining. Is there way or reason to remove failover connections/services?

    Thank you

    Mike

It really depends what you want to do with the secondary server. At the very least, you should remove the configuration of failover from the primary server. See this link for more details.

  • How to integrate the CCM user database unit

Is CCM and the unit with a ldap user database, possible to integrate? and how

BTW, if you add a Subscriber in the unit, is to add a user to windows Active Directory. What is the password for this user AD?

    HI -.

The permissions to allow the unit to create objects user AD, groups and distribution lists are made by running the wizard of permissions of the unit as well as configured when you install the unit (for example, you specify if you want to create user objects, or simply import subscribers, which is how we do it). The default password for the Windows account of the user of the AD is listed in the template of the default subscriber passwords, domain Windows Password Settings section. For security reasons, it must be changed to follow the policies of your organization password. You can change this by creating a new model, based on the default subscriber, with a new Windows Password Settings that gets applied to new subscribers as they are created or imported. The unit is not a LDAP database, it uses the Active Directory database. Database SQL of the unit is synchronized with the information in the AD. CallManager uses its own telephone directory and user information or can use AD. We chose NOT to incorporate the MAC with AD. It is a personal choice for us - we didn't want to CCM or unity, creation of user objects. Maybe it's a different look for a Messaging voice only implementation rather than Unified Messaging. I can't deal with your issue on the integration of Cisco databases and unity.

  • vNIC: activate the failover or group?

    Hello

    I have a UCS 6248 FI + IOM 2204 + Server B200M3 with:

    -Mezz Slot: empty

    -slot mLOM: VIC 1280

    So I, for the B200M3, 2 x path of 10Gbps of VIC at FI6248:

    -port0, 2204-A, FI - has

    -port1, 2204-B, FI - B

What is the best practice to configure the veth under UCSManager:

-use the vNIC 0 (fabric) + activate failover: with this choice, I use only 1 x 10 gb/s (for ethernet) path; the path through fabric B would be used, if any device failed on A fabric. In my mind, it is not the best way to use the architecture of the UCS.

-use 2 vNIC: vNIC vNIC 1 (plate B) and 0 (fabric): with this choice, the operating system will see the 2 NIC in my case, the OS is W2K8R2: how to set up the consolidation of NETWORK cards?

    -Another idea?

    Many thanks for your advice.

    Best regards.

For the Cisco VIC, we have windows 2008 nic teaming drivers.

Download and install the drivers for Cisco UCS VIC

  • DIRT and what his role with the MS - SQL database

I am setting up the procedure for the Bare Metal Restore for our Telco servers. And I wonder if the DIRT back up the MS - SQL databases.

    We have 4.0 (4) SR1 and use DIRT 1.0 Build 122

    Thank you

    Debbie

Restoration of dirt requires that the unit (same saved version) is running before, it'll do a restore - as these UnityDB and ReportDb databases must be present - restoring pulling data out of the local DBs first before their replacement by the saved tables (without things like the name of the local server, which GC/DCs we are connected) configuration etc...). So no, it won't it create on the fly because the restore cannot function without a server in operation of the first unit. This isn't just a backup and restore, but also a type migration tool.

  • Replication of ACS and integration with the Active directory database

    Hi all

I have to configure two ACS SE with the internal database replication. I have also a server active directory that must integrate with ACS. My doubt is that I need to configure the IP address of the ACS during installation of the remote agent on active directory or only the primary ACS

No need to give the IP of two ACS. Give the primary IP of ACS.
