  A free subscription should be public/free, not retail.

  It does not matter what order you publish folios and create the .ipa to test. When you publish the folios as free and Public, they should appear in your app tests if (A) you specify the shared secret, (B) published folios like Public/Free, (C) set up your refunds/folios correctly and d specified free subscription Product ID created in iTunes Connect in the DPS App Builder.

  As Bob mentioned above, you must copy the KWEBMag product id and paste it into the generator of DPS App under subscriptions, enter the subscription details and then rebuild the app, download the new version of the DPS App generator and test it again.   We create a DPS application for a customer with very specific needs that right for their members. Unfortunately, their server will be unavailable for a few months, but they still want to get their app on the market as soon as possible (originally scheduled for submission next week). They also need their members free access to the material until the server is in place.

  Now they want to be on iTunes kiosk so a subscription model is required. However, the only way I can see to do this simply in the meantime is to offer a free subscription until the right is running. Once the server is in place we would resubmit the application with a paid model subs for new subscribers as well as the right for their members.

  My questions on this are:

  Apple has created the option free subscriptions specifically to enable applications with a free content to work in the booth newspapers. I see no advantage to set up a free membership outside the booth newspapers, and I don't even know if it's possible.
