For wired network and wireless EAP process

Hello

I am confused with the EAP process when compared between wired and wireless. As far as I understand that EAP working if wired authentication of 802. 1 x, the client must have an IP address on this subject in advance. In other words, EAP process cannot start without the IP address on the wired client. For the same reason no doubt allow us DHCP traffic switch low impact.

But when it comes to wireless it looks that the EAP process can function without an address IP is required on the wireless client. My understanding is correct? If Yes, how can EAP process of progress without an IP address on the client because there might be a scenario this RADIUS/ISE server can be available to the client on a network of layer 3 for authentication 802. 1 x.

Thanks in advance for clarifying this confusion. I'd appreciate also all link to a good document that covers this concept.

Kind regards

Quesnel

EAPOL traffic between switch and host is not on IP and runs before DHCP.

Hello! Hope you can help me. We have a Photosmart C7280 printer all in one, which is currently connected wireless to a Cisco DCP3825 router that supports the wired computers and wireless. We have many laptops, wireless connection to the router, and anyone can print. I want to add in my HP desktop computer, which is not wireless. I plugged into the router via a cable and loaded the software of the printer, but the installation wizard could not find the printer to complete the entire upward. I unloaded all printer software until I tried it. In addition, I didn't know if I should choose a configuration of wired network or a wireless network configuration, so I tried both and neither one worked. I tried to look in the manual, but it was not useful. What is the best way to configure my network home, so we can print everything? Thanks in advance!

Your router will not worry how the devices are connected.  Download and install the latest version of the software for your printer from the "Support & drivers" link at the top of this page.  When it installs it will see your printer on the network and install the appropriate software.

Don't reset to the default values, but still no connection, no activity lights on the connection on the printer's ethernet port. Configure to use the wireless connection. He worked for a while, and then he stopped too much work, could not see it on the wireless network. Reset to the factory settings, yet could not set the wireless connection. She see the SSID of the wireless and allow to enter the password, but would not connect to the wireless network. Now cable and wireless connectivity will not work. I think that the network adapter is broken. What is the OPINION of the Committee of the network so I can order a new one? Connected to USB at the moment and may have a printing station. So OK for now but need a new Board of Directors network. Or any other suggestions on how to connect to wired or wireless. I set factory defaults may times and set a static wired network IP address (which does not stick).

  • How to configure a multihomed in Windows 7, wired network and wireless networks at the same time?

    Hello

I have a fixed computer Windows 7, I need to configure for the use of wire and wireless networks.

On the phone we transfer vast amounts of data, astronomy cameras than only products of 20 to 30 seconds, space images 3-4 GB each. The cameras are connected to the top of a tower, which in turn is connected via a 45 feet cable CAT-5 to the search engine.

Internet access requires a wireless network connection.

These two connections work - separately. I have to disable an and activate the other to pass. This jump back and foth is obviously a bit inconvenient.

How to configure Windows 7 to manage both types of networks at the same time? On another forum I learned this kind of configuration is called multihoming, and it's something difficult to achieve.

Having studied more about it, there is another possible solution called Internet connection sharing. that may be easier. I haven't used this option for years (since the routers were introduced) but is still active.

Disable DHCP on the Dovado or use a cable between the PC and the laptop.

Turn on the wireless on the PC and make sure that you have an internet connection. Disable wireless on the laptop. Connect the PC's LAN ports and laptop (via router or a cable crossover).

IN the network of PCs and next to the connections Sharing Center, you must have 2 Ethernet and WiFi options. Double click on WiFi, then on the next screen, click Properties.

The second tab in the next screen is sharing, check allow other users of the network to connect and then OK.

Define the IP addresses for PC and laptop as in my previous post, but this time on the laptop set the default gateway to the IP address of the Wired of the PC port, the 1st DNS to the address of the Huawei and value of secondary school who suggested for your ISP.

  • HP CP1525nw - connect via the wired network and Wi - Fi ad-hoc?

At my work, we have our range of HP printers 1525nw connected in the printserver network via an ethernet cable.  The printer has its own IP address on the network configuration.

That support computers XP stops, a copula of computers is cut out / blocked from the network of employment.  A computer is enough where we can make a USB connection to print.  Another lies on another bench.  In addition, who is away from the printer also may not be perfected for a compatible Windows operating system because of the incompatibility with specialized software used to operate the hardware connected to this computer.

Is it possible for this network printer wired to be also configured to print wireless via an ad-hoc connection?  Maybe the idea was that we could install a wireless card on XP teachix computer and print wirelessly via a direct connection to the printer, by not having to connect via cable at all.  But it sounds like it would be not possible.  Looking for a straight answer before you start shopping for a wireless PCI card.

Other messages, I read, I think that the CP1525 can be ethernet or wireless not both at the same time.  Prevent you from establishing an ad hoc network the way you described.

You could try a cheap router with a built in print server connected to the usb port.  then add wireless dongles Wireless USB for XP computers.  Don't forget to make sure that the wireless dongles supports XP. Also for security reasons, you want to let the router disconnected from your network wireless.

If your tecky enough and you don't mind playing a little, you can consult your thrift store local to a router used with a print server.  You don't need to print the fastest available wireless.  Just make sure it's a router b/g (not a single B).

  • Windows 7 is constantly looking for other networks and drop connection

Original title: the upgrade of Windows 7 for XP

I first installed this OS a year ago to this date. Loved, absolutley was entrenched with how easy it was and just how 'worked '. I am a software developer myself and am happy to report all my IDEs, the server settings, etc. all worked like a charm. I had a little problem with VPN but it works with the Vista one (with some work) so I can't complain.

My problem and this is why I uninstalled windows 7 and will be EVER is back at it before it is solved the same problem 10 years ago. He keeps every 60 seconds looking for other networks or drop the connection no reason apparent. With windows XP, I could disable the Zero wireless and everything would be fine. However, with windows 7 if I turn the WLAN service nothing on this earth that will allow me to connect to it without a third-party application.

In the end I used a 3rd party app made by the chipset driver and it still failed (but had limited success).

It is a known problem with windows operating systems. This just "does not work" at all. It's a pain in the thigh and is the reason why people are saying that the wireless is terrible for gaming. I know that isn't true since I have never had a fall with windows XP or my dual boot SuSe OS. 3rd parties even tried to fix this for microsoft in creating the WLAN and Vista Antilag optimizer which all fail for windows 7.

And just to show you how apparent is this bug...

    customer complaints

It seems to somehow keep seeps through the cracks with every version of windows. Simply because I know that this wont never be resolved after 10 years ive thrown my copy in the trash and advising all my loved ones to stay on XP. I used to think... "they'll fix" but quite honestly, I think that microsoft is tone deaf to it.

With regard to upgrading my firmware on my router is concerned, I have programmed my own. I used 3 different routers. My drivers are all up to this date for my card wireless on this box. I used XP drivers with slightly better results but remains unacceptable. I was running with a hackintosh and vmware fusion rather than deal with these headaches after work.

Maybe im being a bit too critical, but make you pay back for a BONE which does not have everything because of XP.

After buying a WNDR3700 N600 top double band brand new brand of the router Netgear power line she didn't always.

2 solid ways fixed my issue.

the network of windows 7 reason fails

One, I had to turn off the service navigation computer in administrative services as noted above.

Two, I had to turn off the power save feature on the usb network adapters.

Not many people understand how to solve this problem, but I would ditch the derivative of the net bios completely.

  • What are the 'elements' in a network connection settings (for example, 'client for microsoft networks') and which should I check?

the termonology throws me, so keep it simple please. BUT I'm just checking my NETWORK CONNECTIONS and when I discover the properties of parameters / the window will appear which indicates the items that you can check or uncheck.

'the clients for microsoft networks '.

"file and printer sharing for microsoft networks".

    "QoS Packet Scheduler"

    "internet protocol (tcp/ipi).

I can't seem to find the info on what they are and why I need one any of them checked, info by simple description is. I am just a computer and I mainly use a cable (ethernet?) a domestic device (modem?) that gives me access to the internet. So all the jargon on the networks and sharing are confusing. I unchecked 'file and printer sharing for microsoft networks' because it is based on the brief description I guess it's for some sort of office network (or other) computers? Finally, everything seems to work with that uncontrolled. I also disabled everything and I would not be able to connect to the internet, so I conclude at least some of them are essential for the connection to the internet anyway.

A link would be well as long is it centered on my query mentioned and SINGLE [!]. Thank you.

PS my interest is safety! I don't want to open doors that do not need to be open.

question side: why I can't copy this? would it because I have disabled 'file and printer sharing... ". » ? I can copy the text elsewhere although [?].

I've never paid much attention to the QoS, but as far as I KNOW, there isn't any kind of security risk.

There is a lot of information and misinformation about the QoS on the Internet connections, and I'm not an expert on this subject.

From what I understand, if you have a single computer connected to the Internet you won't probably no difference if this box is checked or not.

  • restore service dependency for the network and sharing Center

How to restore the dependency service or group who couldn't start for network and sharing Center?

    Hi patto1708,

If it was something that was already previously and failed after certain activities on the computer for which you are not aware of, then the best possible thing to do is run a system restore. This will ensure that your computer is back to operational status.

For more information about the system restore, you can see the link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/System-Restore-frequently-asked-questions

Or you may need to check for the dependency of the network and sharing center services and start them manually when they are stopped manually.
