How would I be able to view the first page of the PDF files as thumbnails in Windows Explorer? I've always been able to do under Windows XP without having to do anything, and I want to be able to do in point 8.1 of Windows 64-bit. This will allow me to manage the files much easier. I plan on upgrading my Dell Inspiron for Windows 10 the day it is released.

My computer automatically updated the software Adobe Reader XI to Adobe Reader Document Cloud 15 yesterday, without intervention, or advising me somehow.

    Hi TJinPerspective,

There is no such customizable setting, however, you can activate the preview in windows Explorer pane, which may help you.

The Adobe Reader program is updated automatically so in this case if not guests for the permission of the user.

I read on the subject and I have not found an answer: my windows explore jumplist simply disappear. It only shows the options "Windows Explorer, detach from the task bar, close all windows" but frequently and pinned places disappeared.

I have not installed ccleaner or tuneup or something like that. I have not also change the setting of any. the jumplist just disappear one day to the next. However, other jumplists works fine (for example windows media player, google chrome, same control panel works fine).

I would try to uncheck both options and apply, and then restart Windows and check again and apply.

If no help, you can create a new user account and copy your settings. Crreate two new administrator accounts, log on to one and copy the old to the new account on the other. (Account user/screen control / 'Manage another account')

  • You can change the icons in Windows Explorer?

I read some other Q & A on this topic. I never realized that an icon was so important. Anyway, nobody has asked this question specific (it seems), so: you can change the icons in Windows Explorer? I don't use the desktop icons.

The easiest way is to use 3rd party as IconPackager software.

  • The width of the preview in Windows Explorer screen can be hung on the left side instead of the right side?

Whenever I open a Windows Explorer window, the preview window to adapt is questionable.  It is anchored on the right side of the window.  Sometimes it's fine, other times, it covers more important data like date/time and file size.  If I have it full screen on my wide screen, everything is great, but when I throw it in my smaller screen, everything must shrink.  Rather than shrink the preview pane, it allows the preview pane cover the most important areas.

The width of the preview in Windows Explorer screen can be hung on the left side instead of the right side?

I don't think it can be docked to the left.  I know that the sector details can twisted to put it on the bottom rather than the side (like Vista/7), but the preview pane itself isn't such a tweak.

  • Where's Remove button in the toolbar of Windows Explorer?

Where's Remove button in the toolbar of Windows Explorer in Win7? As a former XP user (put the old car in the closet), I miss the button Delete. Now, to remove an element highlighted in the Windows Explorer, I right-click to delete.

Is there a way to add delete to US?

    Thank you

It is in the Organize menu, or you can press Delete on your keyboard.

  • Open the folder "Images" = Windows Explorer has stopped working.

Everytime I try to open my pictures folder after a few seconds, I get the message that Windows Explorer has stopped working. I can't understand how to solve this problem. = (If you please help.

I ran the System File Checker and there find and repair corrupt files. However, the problem is still there.

I also ran the disk check and has not helped either.

Ok. I solved the problem by seeking advice in another thread. Here's what I did:

I solved this by going to my computer > click the "Organize" (upper-left) > folder and search options > view tab check "Show icons, never thumbnails" option and uncheck the "display file on the photos." This prevents windows to generate images and solved the problem for me. Less visually flashy Yes, but at least not need a cloth and restart is).

I'm moving all my pictures from external storage. Guess that's the motivation that I needed to finally get the prints and albums. :) I hope this helps someone else.

    Hello

You can download this reg from my SkyDrive file:

    http://CID-128fc518635be2dc.SkyDrive.live.com/self.aspx/.public/Ms%20Foren/registry/WER%5E_Explorer.reg

and double click on the file to import.

When the Windows Explorer crashes, Windows Error Reporting Service [1] creates a dmp under C:\Localdumps. Please download the file to your public Skydrive folder [2] and post the link here. I take a look at the discharge with the debugger, maybe that I can see what Shell extension is the cause.

  • Through white icon on the desktop and Windows Explorer.

    Hello

A lot of my icons on the desktop and Windows Explorer is more appear a normal icon, instead, they show a white square.

Here is a screenshot of my 3 hard disks with shortcuts on the desktop.

    http://i293.Photobucket.com/albums/m...blankicons.jpg

I tried to solve the problem by doing a rebuild of the cache icon but that did not work.

Anyone would be able to help me solve this problem?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Have you used the utility changes or registry to remove the shortcut arrow overlay?

First make sure the utility is uninstalled and the registry change is removed.

Try this and check if that helps:

    1. right click on a box empty desktop and select Customize.

    2. click on adjust the resolution of the screen.

    3. in the drop-down color menu, select medium (16 bit).

    4. click on apply.

    5. when Windows you asked if you want to keep these settings, click No to restore your 32-bit color depth.

    6. restart your computer.

  • Snipping Tool, Windows 8, PDF file (I can't keep the PDF open window to use the Snipping Tool)

I was wondering how to use the tool captures Windows 8 with an open PDF file.  If I open the PDF, I then need to open the tool such as capture and App or in my toolbar.  The PDF file takes a back seat, and so I find myself with the tool box captures only allowing me to look at my office.  Any ideas?

    Thank you

I found that when I had the cutting tool open and I hit Ctrl + print screen, I was able to use the tool cutting on the PDF file.

  • No preview for *. PDFs in windows 'explorer.

I do a considerable amount of graphic work with Corel Draw and 99% of my images in the PDF Format of export (and have been doing for many years).  I had a laptop that was running Vista 32 - bit and have recently upgraded to a PC with the 64-bit version of Vista.  Now, whenever I export a PDF document, I only get a glimpse of "miniature" of the documents in the folder (never had the problem on the 32-bit version on my laptop).  Is this a problem with Vista 64-bit?  Is there a setting that I can change?  It of horribly embarrassing that I have more than 1000 files and cannot see what thye are unless I open the file.  Please let me know.  Thank you.

I found that I also had this problem after installing Outlook 2 k 7 on Windows 7 x 64. The solution that worked for me is documented at http://www.pretentiousname.com/adobe_pdf_x64_fix/index.html and requires an edition of a single register for the Adobe Viewer on the 64-bit computer.

  • CANNOT DELETE the LARGE FILE - Windows Explorer hangs

    Windows 8

I made a very large pdf by mistake (14 GB) and now I can't do anything with it. Can not open, delete, move...

I tried to delete the entire folder where it is located, but also that Windows Explorer crashes.
I checked the disk for errors, and everything is OK.
I tried to permanently delete without moving to the trash, as I understand it the trash can sometimes accept very large files. I can highlight the file, but as soon as I click the button remove Ribbon, or right-click, or try to do something with it, Windows Explorer crashes again.
I have rather a small disc on this machine SSD, and I need this space to the rear...
Can't think of anything else to try...
    Best regards, K

Try to remove the file from a command prompt. You can shift right click a folder to see an option "open command window here", which will automatically open the command prompt in the appropriate folder. There is also an "open command prompt here" option on the file menu. If necessary, you can simply open a command prompt and use the cd command to go to the appropriate folder. (.. leave a folder, / to go to the root). Note that the led, remove and erase commands don't send files to trash either.

Another thing you can try is crushing the PDF file. Type something in a program that is able to save to PDF and try to save it on this PDF. Please tell me if you receive errors overwhelming, because they can help to find out what is the problem. If you have any program capable of PDF, simply typing things into Notepad and overwrite the PDF file with it. (in the Save in drop-down menu, you can select "all files")

The entry in NTFS, indicating the presence of this 14 GB file is maybe damaged. The disc may have recorded the location of the bad file, or the 14 GB file may not even be there. You can plan to run the chkdsk utility. It flows better in an administrator command prompt. If you are prompted to do so, you should probably run chkdsk /f. I don't know what the side effects might arise from running chkdsk on an SSD, so proceed at your own risk. (I tried to do a search, and all that I could find is that nothing else than / f should not be run on an SSD)

  • In my pdf files windows Explorer before a pdf icon. Now, they show it as a Word doc. I recently updated my Acrobat 8 Professional. Whats up, Doc?

In Windows Explorer (using Windows 8.3) all PDFs of my7 before a PDF icon! Now, they show as a same Word doc if they are PDF files. Recently, I've solved a problem "the organizers database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched...» "Which appears whenever I closed a PDF file. I have Acrobat updated with all the latest updates. Now, all of a sudden, I realized that all of my PDF files display the Word icon.

Also, when I get a bill from Intuit and choose whether to save in PDF format, it generates a Word doc which is unreadable! That's happened?

    Hi jamesn7664596,

    Please check the file association.

Or simply right click on the PDF file & set Acrobat as the default PDF Viewer.

  • How to resize the left on Windows Explorer Panel?

    XP PRO SP3.

When I click on "My Documents" a dialog box appears which is split into two halves (panels).  The right files and folders, the left has several menu options such as 'Make a new folder', 'My Computer', 'My Network Places', etc..
The left panel is too small to contain the entire text of menu and the part of the text is hidden.  For example, I see things like 'My Com' and 'make one '.  She line so the 'My' and 'Com' is on two different lines and even 'Make' and 'a', etc..

The left panel cannot be resized.  Try it swipe left or right only the results in the box dialog full size change, but the left panel remains the same size.  Given zero has no effect.  So, how can I restore this Panel to the width?  'My Documents' and 'My Computer' both have the same problem of "small width.

    Thank you
