formatting numbers

Hi Experts,

I tried with TO_NUMBER but the format did not have all my numbers look great.

Example for my (mynumber) column data:

0.000003

0.000012

293.030000

1610.000000

0.005200

When I apply TO_NUMBER 0.000003 turns into 3-6 and 0.000008 to 8-6.

Not much. I need to convert it to something to get rid of the end of zero.

Any ideas would be very appreciated!

It is a bit clearer what you want now.  Try this:

with qry (MY_NUMBER) as)

Select 0.000003 in all the double union

Select 0.000012 Union double all the

Select 293.030000 from all the double union

Select 1610.000000 from all the double union

Select double 0.005200

)

Select rtrim (to_char (MY_NUMBER, 'FM999999999999990.9999999999999'), '.') NUM_CHAR

of qry

Give what you want:

NUM_CHAR

--------------

"0.000003'."

"0.000012'."

"293.03'."

"1610".

"0.0052 '."

  • Nonbreaking hyphen in a paragraph format (numbering)

Is it possible to insert a non-breaking hyphen in a paragraph format (automatic numbering). That's what I have now:

But when I use a cross-reference to this tag, and the x - ref falls at the end of a sentence, I get this:

Of course, I can insert a return, but I would rather treat the disease as the symptoms.

  • Numbered for lower alpha list lose formatting when generated to Word (format numbered plan)

I can't get my Word generated by RoboHelp 7 docs to look as it does in the WYSWYG:

    Example:

    1 do
    a. then do

NOTE: Do not forget to do.
(It does not show correctly here either, but the 'a' and 'b' are under "C".)

When I generate term, it looks like this:

    1 do
    a. then do

I think I understood the problem. When I was setting shaped the sorted list to be a, b, c, I wasn't pressing ENTER to create a new paragraph - I me pressing SHIFT ENTER after the numbers (i.e. 1,2,3), then changing the number format a, b, c. Now when I generate term, it works very well. Thank you!

  • Format numbers to a string then touches the whole string to 16 char

    Hi all

I am preparing a model which requires me to manipulate the number as xml in the following format:

    Source: 1234

    Result target: * 1,234.00

The requirement is that the number has to be converted to #, #. # and padded with *, and the whole string should be long 16 char.

I tried with the mixture format_number, concat and proper syntax, and test xsl in word, but it does not work.

Other than changing the xml standard, is it possible that I can do for the obligation?

    Thanks to you all!

  • formatting numbers with comma

    Hello

I use the JDE 4.3. I am trying to add commas to my Double.

    E.g. 123456.1234-> 123,456.12

I tried searching the forum, but I can't find an answer. I tried to use this code:

    Formatter formatter = new Formatter("en");

    System.out.println (FormatNumber (double.parseDouble ("123456.1234"), 2));

    but I get this--> 123456.12

Since there is no method available in the API of the rim, I just built my own method to add commas; If you have something better, something more optimized, please report!

    public String CommaSeparator(String nNum){    final static char DOT = 46;    growingstring="";    decimalString="";    if(Double.parseDouble(temp) >= 1000)    {        //if it doesn't have a decimal portion        if(nNum.indexOf(DOT) == -1)        {            whatihave = nNum;            Length = whatihave.length();        }        else  //else, split the string and put the decimal portion in                  decimalString        {        decimalString = nNum.substring(nNum.indexOf(DOT),nNum.length());      whatihave = nNum.substring(0, nNum.indexOf(DOT));        Length = whatihave.length();        }

  • Exporting data to Excel discoverer - keep the format for numbers options

Is it possible to keep the format options when you export an excel spreadsheet.

When we export out of our 10.1.2.3 Discoverer Plus the instance as a Microsoft Excel (.xls) workbook and open results with Excel 2007, we can see the format exactly as it is in the Scout report.

When the user first opens the workbook, they see two worksheets - we the unformatted data, and contains macros formatting. At the top left, there is a warning from security - Macros have been disabled, with the Options button. By clicking on the Options button gives a choice to 'enable this content '. Once the user clicks the OK button, the Excel export will be formatted as the discoverer of report.

  • Pages: automatic section / chapter numbering?

Hi, how can I create an automatic section / chapter formatting & numbering like this?

(Note: I speak NOT a list numbered with new numbers after each line break.) I want to have a certain numbering and style applied when I start a new section / sub-section / block of text.)

    Thank you!

    Hi Peter,.

I suspect you'll find that the answer is simple "feature not supported."

As far as I know, Pages does not support divisions of the document beyond the level 'Section' (or 'Chapter'). You need to investigate a different word-processing application.

You can change the color of the labels. That could make it a little clearer that it is not negative.

  • Can not see the page or print preview in Notepad numbers

Keep in mind that Notepad is a text editor, not a word processor. There
generally used for short text - things like files .bat files. Then
calling for what you can produce with it a "document" is somehow a
    overestimation.

If you want to produce documents, with things like page formatted
numbers, you should get a word processing program. There are
several choices, some are free, some for sale:

1 Wordpad, which ships with Windows. WordPad is really more of a
text editor glorified than a real word processor, but if your Word
treatment needs are light, it could meet them.

2 Microsoft Word, you can purchase either by itself, or in the context of
Microsoft Office. It's a powerful word processor and the more
    a popular.

3 OpenOffice which is free and is supposed to be compatible with
Microsoft Office. It is partially compatible, but not perfectly.

    4. the processor which is part of Microsoft Works. Another light
product to sell. It is not as good as the best choice, but it could
    meet your needs.
    5. one of several other products processing for the sale by
companies other than Microsoft. My personal favorite word-processing,
WordPerfect, falls into this category. WordPerfect is not free, but
It is cheaper than Microsoft Word or office and in my opinion, one
    best product.

  • Column/data varchar but req number formatting when digital.

    Hello

I wrote some sql to retrieve data from our Oracle database.

Number formatting is a bit unfortunate.

    The column reads:

    1 000 000

    0.010

    1 000

    0.0009

    9999999.000

    null

    > NWG

If its not all of the numbers, but if it is a number, I need to correctly format i.e.

without decimal places if they are just led 0

I hope that there is a regular expression that I can use to format numbers ignoring the character entries.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

Whenever you have a question, please post a small example of data (CREATE TABLE and only relevant columns, INSERT statements) for all of the tables involved and the accurate results you want from this data, so that people who want to help you can recreate the problem and test their ideas.

Explain, using specific examples, how you get these results from these data.

Always say what version of Oracle you are using (for example, 11.2.0.2.0).

See the FAQ forum: Re: 2. How can I ask a question on the forums?

What do you mean by "if it's a number"?  The following could all be considered numbers:

    • -1
    • -1.2E + 3
    • $9,987,54
    • 123 456,7
    • 3/4

Depending on what you consider a 'number', you can use expressions regular, perhaps combined with other string manipulation functions, like to TRANSLATE.

You can consider a function defined by the user who tries to convert it to a NUMBER, but never to raise an error.  See How to determine if a Varchar2 string has characters from a to z?

Which type of formatting you want for the numbers?  You said that you don't want to end ' 0 decimal, but how about a trailing decimal point?  When you post the sample data and results, examples of all individual cases, you want to manage.

You may need TO_CHAR and then some channel, for example, RTRIM or REGEXP_REPLACE mainpulation functions.

As you realize you probably now, it's a really bad design.  You let people in chains that may or may not represent the numbers, then, much later, trying to guess the whehter they meant it to be number, and if so which COMP.  Guess, isn't a very good way to solve problems.  The person who knows the data if it is a number or not - make him tell you at the point where it enters the number.  For example, instead of having 1 VARHCAR2 column, you may have 2 columns (a VARCHAR2 and a NUMBER) and a CHECK constraint that requires at least 1 of them to be null.
