Forms10 Oracle using SUN JRE/Java plugin (YPI) instead of Jinitiator

Hi all

is there any document before detroit on how to use Oracle forms with SUN JRE/Java plug-in (YPI) instead of Jinitiator?
I am running on a windows machine where I find the database and the Application.

Rgds.

Hello

If your JRE help, then you need to change formsweb.cfg something like that.

# Forms applet archive setting for JInitiator
#archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,icons.jar---u have to disable this because this is for jinitiator.

and you must use the following for the icons.

archive=f90all.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar,icons.jar..u have to use this for JRE and u have to add u r icons.jar,jacob.jar and frmwebutil.jar.

hope this helps u.

  • Slow forms Oracle 10 g 2 using Sun JRE on Windows 7 x 64

    Hello

We run Application Server 10 g 2 10.1.2.3 and we ran Sun JRE under Windows XP SP3 very well. It's catchy, and with the exception of a few minor problems, everything works fine.

We test now some new workstations running under Windows 7 (64 bit) x 64 with Sun JRE again and the performance is just horrible. It is almost unusable. We have tried the jre 32-bit (x 86) and x 64 (64-bit) no difference. We also tried Firefox (only comes in the 32-bit version) and the same problem.

Curiously, the problem does not exist on Windows 7 (32 bit) x 86. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions to make it behave?

    Thank you.

    George.

First of all, I think that we need to clarify what is and is not certified for use with 10.1.2.3 so that other readers don't misunderstand what is being discussed.

Forms 10.1.2.3 has been certified to use Windows 7 x 64 with IE8 and Sun JRE 1.6.0_16 + (32-bit only). Check out the new Forms 10.1.2 customer statement of guidance which can be found here:

    http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/clientsod-forms10gr2-088253.html

If you already have bookmarked the SOD, please update your bookmark as this is a new location.

Secondly, without knowing at least some details about the application and even how the client computer is used, it will be difficult to provide specific features. In general, I don't think we (Oracle) had no specific complaints. However, we are currently investigating the complaint of at least a show (it can be your :)), but so far the details are limited and we do not have to go.

So that everyone understand a performance problem we must first understand exactly what is meant to be 'slow' terms such as "degraded", etc.. In the case of this thread, it was claimed that he had to "2 seconds" to get from the field to the field. Is this an accurate measure or an exaggerated assumption? We must also understand the app and the environment. For example:

    1. in addition to the change of the JRE from one version to the other, what else has changed? For example, are more users accessing the server was the server or application patches server, were there changes in networking, SSL is enabled where previously we don't, etc..

2 in addition to the application Forms, all java applications running on the client computer when this performance problem is experienced?

3 are there any fat applications that run on the client computer? For example, some virus scanners tend to monopolize significant levels of resources and adversely affect the performance of other applications. Email client software also tends to be large and monopolize the resources (I don't speak here names :)). Disable or terminate apps fat and repeat the test. What is the result?

4 the Forms application run java client-side? For example, WebUtil custom beans, etc?

    5. is the client computer configured to access mapped drives (that this is related or not related to the application of forms)?

6 JRE logging or tracing is enabled? This setting is located on the control panel (Advanced tab) Java. If so, disable it.

    7. have you already tested setting the JRE "... new generation Java plug-in" to OFF? It's also on the Advanced tab of the control panel under "Java plug-in Java. He will have to restart the browser.

    8. on the server, are the application modules (fmx, mmx, plx, etc.) stored locally with the installation of the Application Server or are then access via a net player?

  • Hi, I have the latest update of Fire Fox which is 10.0.2. I can't get the Java plugin to download for Firefox.

I am wanting to get Java working on Firefox, if I can use the cat and other programs that use Java, and no, it's not Javascript I'm talking. Whenever I go on a site that uses Java it tells me that I need to download the Java plugin. When I click on the link, it starts to download the Java plugin, but instead of installing the plugin it installs Java for Internet Explorer instead.

Try to uninstall and reinstall Java.

  • Call a dll via webutil works with Jinitator, but not with the Sun JRE

    Friends,

I'm trying to call a DLL for Oracle forms using webutil.

The example I use is from thread WEBUTIL_C_API demo form .

I followed all the instructions and when I use Jinitiator 1.3.1.28 as the JRE client, then this market. However, when I use Sun JRE 1.5 (1.5.0.19) or Sun 1.6 (1.6.0.14) it does not work and I see the following errors in the java console:
ERROR>WUL-928 [CApiFunctions.set_invokeoncespec()] Library apiwrap.dll not accessible, or does not contain function eaFindWindow
    ERROR>WUL-910 [CApiFunctions.invokeCApi()] Invoking the function failed: java.lang.NullPointerException
It appears the problem with the version of Java? Is there something special I need to do to call a dll using the latest versions of the JRE?

    Any help would be appreciated!

These webutil errors mean that the .dll file is not found in the JRE/bin directory... you have to force webutil to re - load the .dll file into this folder by deleting the webutil.properties file, and then try to run after it again and it should work.

This properties file are located in either the user/home directory or in the home folder of the JRE.

    i.e.
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_15\webutil.properties

This file will contain the .dll files that are downloaded to the client... such as configured in the webutil.cfg file.

  • Sun JRE 1.6

    Hello.

I noticed the movement (left mouse click) of the window is very, very slow when you use sun jre against jinitiator. This isn't a critical issue, I just ask experts why is this.

    Best regards.

From your description, it is very probably Sun bug http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6635462. This is fixed in the latest JRE 1.6.0_14. You can also work around the bug by adding this line to your basejpi.html or whatever HTML file you use to launch forms:

See the Note 741124.1 support for more details.

    Hope this helps,

  • Using Sun's JRE

Hello.  We currently have to force the use of Java 6, version 22 by placing this code in the formsweb.cfg file:

    [code]

    # Set the default SUN JRE

    # Plug-in 6 22 Java

    jpi_download_page = http://Java.Sun.com/javase/downloads/

    # Parameter related to the version of the Java Plugin

    jpi_classid = clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0022-ABCDEFFEDCBA

    # Parameter related to the version of the Java Plugin

    jpi_codebase = http://Java.Sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6u22-Windows-i586.cab#version=1, 6,0,22

    # Parameter related to the version of the Java Plugin

    jpi_mimetype = application/x-Java-applet; YPI-version = 1.6.0_22

    [code]

If I want to change this configuration so that users always use the latest version of Sun JRE, how I change this code?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    Change the following settings:

    OLD: jpi_classid = clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0022-ABCDEFFEDCBA

    NEW: jpi_classid = clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA

    OLD: jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0_22

    NEW: jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0

These changes you will use ANY version of Java 1.6, but not Java 1.7.

    Hello

According to the document, Safari is not supported on Windows clients.

Do you get the error even if you access the application of another browser (like Firefox or IE)?

I know that Im trying to connect to ORACLE Financials via Safari in XP, but my thought is if j-initiator has worked with this why shouldn't this new features JRE plugin if it's supposed to replace?

You are always controlled by the matrix of certification. As see you in the same document, Safari is is not supported on Windows clients running this JRE version, it is normal to not have this combination of browser, OS and JRE client work as expected.

    Kind regards

  • Java plugin for Oracle hangs after the last update

As part of the requirement of the Oracle, we run JRE 1.7.60
To update firefox this morning and now the plugin is constantly crashing.

    Hello

Thanks for your reply, but I doubt that flash player is related to do with Java.

And the Java applet crashing in my browser, I guess, should not be linked to my graphics driver, especially since the only update that took place was an update of firefox.

In any case, Firefox for some reason any launches 2 additional tabs when executing the Java Applet (IE does not work). In the past, I'm used to close the first tab, since it contains nothing except an Oracle logo.
However, it seems that after the last update of firefox, if this tab is closed, it cause Java to crash.

Therefore, do not close the additional tabs by the Java Applet. However, this has never happened before, do not know what has changed in the latest version of Firefox to make it happen now?

    Thank you

  • Seller of Java - Oracle or Sun?

    Hello

I want to know how I'm supposed to know what 'Java provider', we used for our installation of JDK. It is the Oracle, or is the Sun?

    . / java-version gives me

    Java version "1.7.0_05".
Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_05 - b05)
    Java for 64-bit Server VM (build 23, 1 - b03, mixed mode)

I know, Oracle bought Sun, which is so that it is?

There are many ways to execute Java code to understand the seller (as System.getProperties ()), but I just need something to run in our RHEL 5 box to better understand.

  • using the java plugin instead of jinitiator

    Hello

I am using a java plugin instead of jinitiator because I switch to ubuntu.
I tried the plugin java-sun6 - both the OpenJDK, Icedtea plugin but I have the same problem in both entities, the application is running, but no icons appear.

  • Captivate use a Java plugin for browsers and what happens when Java is progressively to our on our LMS SCORM course?

Hi, I work with an LMS (called clarity) and our supplier has indicated that when the Java Web browsers plugins are disabled or are more supported come September 2015 (I think they are referring to Chrome for September 2015) that the any of our courses created with Adobe Captivate does more work because they rely on Java to transfer information from the courses in the LMS. Is that correct, and how can this be addressed? We have hundreds of courses created with Adobe Captivate® 5 and up to 8 Captivate, accessible via Internet Explorer, most of the time. All courses are SCORM compatible (1.2 and 2004). Thank you!

Captivate uses JavaScript, not Java. All of the tutorials use JavaScript to interface with the LMS because it is not dependent on server and maintains the shareable part of SCORM intact.

    No worries.

  • In general, is it better to use java.sql.Date and java.sql.Timestamp instead of oracle.jbo.domain.Date?

    Hello world

During playback of Oracle ADF Real World Developer's Guide, I noticed the dates match occurring in JDeveloper is different from what is the list in the book. JDeveloper is failing to oracle.jbo.domain.Date, but according to the book:

DATEjava.sql.DateDATE type is mapped to java.sql.Date if the column in the table is a no time didn't need information zone.
DATEjava.sql.TimestampDATE type is mapped to java.sql.Timestamp if the column in the table has a component "time" and that the client needs to zone information.
TIMESTAMPjava.sql.TimestampThe TIMESTAMP type is mapped to java.sql.Timestamp if nanosecond precision is used in the database.

In general, is it better to use java.sql.Date and java.sql.Timestamp instead of oracle.jbo.domain.Date? Using java.sql.Date and java.sql.Timestamp could save me some headaches conversion date. And, is there a place in JDeveloper to display these maps? I looked around and didn't see anything.

    Thank you.

    James

User, what version of jdev we are talking about?

In GR 11, 1 material versions db types date and timestamp are mapped to types of domain data that represents a wrapper for the native data types. The reason was that the framework can work with the domain types regardless of the underlying data type.

Since Oracle 11 GR 2 maps the types DB to java types (default selection, you can change it when you create a model project, you can set the Data Type Mapping). Once the pilot has business components define you cannot change this setting it would break existing components such as eo or vo.

So if you are working wit 11 GR 1 subject, you must use the domain types, if you work with GR 11, 2 or 12 c, you can use the domain types, but it is recommended to use the java type mapping.
