Sun JRE 1.6

Hello.

I noticed the movement (left mouse click) of the window is very, very slow when you use sun jre against jinitiator. This isn't a critical issue, I just ask experts why is this.

Best regards.

From your description, it is very probably Sun bug http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6635462. This is fixed in the latest JRE 1.6.0_14. You can also work around the bug by adding this line to your basejpi.html or whatever HTML file you use to launch forms:

See the Note 741124.1 support for more details.

Hope this helps,
Jacob

    # Forms applet archive setting for JInitiator
#archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,icons.jar---u have to disable this because this is for jinitiator.

  • Slow forms Oracle 10 g 2 using Sun JRE on Windows 7 x 64

    Hello

We run Application Server 10 g 2 10.1.2.3 and we ran Sun JRE under Windows XP SP3 very well. It's catchy, and with the exception of a few minor problems, everything works fine.

We test now some new workstations running under Windows 7 (64 bit) x 64 with Sun JRE again and the performance is just horrible. It is almost unusable. We have tried the jre 32-bit (x 86) and x 64 (64-bit) no difference. We also tried Firefox (only comes in the 32-bit version) and the same problem.

Curiously, the problem does not exist on Windows 7 (32 bit) x 86. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions to make it behave?

    Thank you.

    George.

First of all, I think that we need to clarify what is and is not certified for use with 10.1.2.3 so that other readers don't misunderstand what is being discussed.

Forms 10.1.2.3 has been certified to use Windows 7 x 64 with IE8 and Sun JRE 1.6.0_16 + (32-bit only). Check out the new Forms 10.1.2 customer statement of guidance which can be found here:

    http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/clientsod-forms10gr2-088253.html

If you already have bookmarked the SOD, please update your bookmark as this is a new location.

Secondly, without knowing at least some details about the application and even how the client computer is used, it will be difficult to provide specific features. In general, I don't think we (Oracle) had no specific complaints. However, we are currently investigating the complaint of at least a show (it can be your :)), but so far the details are limited and we do not have to go.

So that everyone understand a performance problem we must first understand exactly what is meant to be 'slow' terms such as "degraded", etc.. In the case of this thread, it was claimed that he had to "2 seconds" to get from the field to the field. Is this an accurate measure or an exaggerated assumption? We must also understand the app and the environment. For example:

    1. in addition to the change of the JRE from one version to the other, what else has changed? For example, are more users accessing the server was the server or application patches server, were there changes in networking, SSL is enabled where previously we don't, etc..

2 in addition to the application Forms, all java applications running on the client computer when this performance problem is experienced?

3 are there any fat applications that run on the client computer? For example, some virus scanners tend to monopolize significant levels of resources and adversely affect the performance of other applications. Email client software also tends to be large and monopolize the resources (I don't speak here names :)). Disable or terminate apps fat and repeat the test. What is the result?

4 the Forms application run java client-side? For example, WebUtil custom beans, etc?

    5. is the client computer configured to access mapped drives (that this is related or not related to the application of forms)?

6 JRE logging or tracing is enabled? This setting is located on the control panel (Advanced tab) Java. If so, disable it.

    7. have you already tested setting the JRE "... new generation Java plug-in" to OFF? It's also on the Advanced tab of the control panel under "Java plug-in Java. He will have to restart the browser.

    8. on the server, are the application modules (fmx, mmx, plx, etc.) stored locally with the installation of the Application Server or are then access via a net player?

    1. one of the patches I must apply '3865683' a ' step 11, run the program simultaneous Workflow Directory service Validation user/role. (Required) ".

I don't know if it's the result of my clone process or the upgrade steps that I lived to reach from jinitiator SUN JRE.
So my concern is when I do this prod if it interrupts the flow of work or if it is simply due to the clone process.

    Any comment is appreciated.

    Hello

The simple answer and support is 'no '. 6863618 patch is a patch of request (must be applied using adpatch), and it will update the files of application/database layer, in order to restore the database files only is not enough because it would make your incompatible application with the database.

  • Call a dll via webutil works with Jinitator, but not with the Sun JRE

    Friends,

I'm trying to call a DLL for Oracle forms using webutil.

The example I use is from thread WEBUTIL_C_API demo form .

I followed all the instructions and when I use Jinitiator 1.3.1.28 as the JRE client, then this market. However, when I use Sun JRE 1.5 (1.5.0.19) or Sun 1.6 (1.6.0.14) it does not work and I see the following errors in the java console:
ERROR>WUL-928 [CApiFunctions.set_invokeoncespec()] Library apiwrap.dll not accessible, or does not contain function eaFindWindow
    ERROR>WUL-910 [CApiFunctions.invokeCApi()] Invoking the function failed: java.lang.NullPointerException
It appears the problem with the version of Java? Is there something special I need to do to call a dll using the latest versions of the JRE?

    Any help would be appreciated!

These webutil errors mean that the .dll file is not found in the JRE/bin directory... you have to force webutil to re - load the .dll file into this folder by deleting the webutil.properties file, and then try to run after it again and it should work.

This properties file are located in either the user/home directory or in the home folder of the JRE.

    i.e.
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_15\webutil.properties

This file will contain the .dll files that are downloaded to the client... such as configured in the webutil.cfg file.

    Hello

According to the document, Safari is not supported on Windows clients.

Do you get the error even if you access the application of another browser (like Firefox or IE)?

I know that Im trying to connect to ORACLE Financials via Safari in XP, but my thought is if j-initiator has worked with this why shouldn't this new features JRE plugin if it's supposed to replace?

You are always controlled by the matrix of certification. As see you in the same document, Safari is is not supported on Windows clients running this JRE version, it is normal to not have this combination of browser, OS and JRE client work as expected.

    Kind regards

I thought that you are migrating forms as part of the JRE update, so since this isn't the case, you can skip this part.

java.lang.SecurityException: invalid file signature oracle/forms/net/HTTPConnection.class.PRE_BUG12667746 SHA digest

Don't know why a saved the oracle/forms/net/HTTPConnection.class.PRE_BUG12667746 file is selected by the form?

Most likely, it is the reason for the error you are getting.

Have you tried re - implement the steps in the README file in 12667746 patch ?

What happens if you rename the existing file and copy the main class as PRE_BUG12667746, make the same mistake?

The configuration values should be fairly obvious. Look at the values for each parameter. Note that the real version is defined within each. In most cases, this will be the only part of the value which will change as versions change. The last values of the code base can be obtained from Sun here documents:

    http://Java.Sun.com/javase/6/WebNotes/install/JRE/AutoDownload.html

For example, here's your entry was updated to use 1.6.0_20 Sun:

    (2) what is the latest version that we could go which is still a little stable?

You have not specified which version of forms you use so I can't say which versions of JRE are actually certified for use in your environment. In any case, although perhaps not certified (tested), we will support the use of any JRE within the same major version. In other words, if the certified minimum version 1.6.0_05, Oracle supports all minor updates across the current. For example 1.6.0_20. The key is to make sure that you use a major release which is certified.

In most cases, we are advised to use the latest in a line of main code. So, as stated above, if 1.6.0_xx has been certified for use with the version of forms that you use, it would be recommended to use the most recent which is 1.6.0_20 (from below).

  • IE8 JRE 1.6.0_016 and * 10.1.2.2 * application server

We currently use IE6, 10.1.2.2 app server/forms, Jinitiator 1.3.1.28. We want to eventually be certified IE8, 10.1.2.3 app server/forms, JRE 1.6.0_16. The upgrade of each application server (dev thru prod), pushing IE8 and pushing the JRE to 2000 users all in one night is a bit much. We were hoping to push the JRE now, then IE8, and then you spend each server dev thru prod one app at a time. However, we will be in configuration not certified for a little while with this plan.

Thus anyong got IE8, JRE 1.6.0_16, and * 10.1.2.2 * server app to work. We get a white screen with a box in IE8 under this configuration. Any suggestion on IE8 options click or clear? Or JRE to click option or uncheck?

We managed to get IE8, Jinitiator 1.3.1.28 and 10.1.2.2 to work.

One thing we noticed with the Sun JRE 1.5 and higher is systematically checks the updates of the JRE. This can present a problem if you set the JRE version in the formsweb.cfg as strict. We left him open for any version of 1.6 would work. To do this, change the following two lines:

    #jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.4.2_06
    jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0  /* drop point release */

    and
    #jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0002-0006-ABCDEFFEDCBA
    jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA

Note the use of FFFF instead of * 0006 *. This makes more ignore the intermediate version-(ie., 1.6.0_4 works the same 1.6.0_18).

  • For JRockit JRES

Y at - it something special about the JRE JRocket?

I installed JRocket and set up Coldfusion to use JRocket of JVM (1.6.0_14). Of course, he showed a big with defect of CF Macomedia driver memory leak. Basically, it showed that the macromedia.jdbc.oracle.OracleColumn were not collected garbage and it grew and grew and grew.

To fix this, I switched to Oracle 11 g R2 JDBC and the leak memory disappeared. Much better garbage collection and memory is much better managed.

So now the problem is we cannot install JRocket on all production servers because of the constraints that make authorities. So I if use the newest 1.6.0_19 Sun JRE instead of the JRockit JVM, it will count a lot? I understand that I will not be able to use JRocket to monitor the JAVA virtual machine, which is ok. The work of the Sun JRE as good as JRocket?

Oracle has something special performance wise JRocket of JRE or he essentially identical to the Sun?

    Published by: brian.mcginity on March 25, 2010 15:27

    Hi Brian.
The JRockit JVM and the JAVA Hotspot virtual machine are different.
If one is faster than the other? The answer is: it depends on your application.

Oracle did a lot of work performance with JRockit as a Hotspot team. To a certain extent focus on improvements has been different. I fear that the only way to be sure is to try both and measure.

I need your help, I'm confused about one of the questions.

My r11 db10.2.0.3 on linux instance. I'm following 2 note:

    1. deployment Sun JRE (Native plug-ins) for Windows customers in Oracle E-Business Suite 11i [290807.1 ID] < < by that note, I need to improve my developer 6i, for a specific reason, I use Patch 18 thatswhy I'm note below:
    2. information on previous Versions of developer 6i Patchsets [ID 232313.1]

Followed by the present note and in Developer 6i additional plots there is a patch (customers who use Linux should apply the hotfix for interoperability (3830807)) this patch also mention the 6i upgrade developer with Oracle Applications 11i [125767.1 ID]

in note upgrade developer 6i with Oracle Applications 11i [125767.1 ID], it says linux user must apply, but it does not put in the note of information on previous Versions of developer 6i Patchsets [232313.1 ID] for Patch 18 in the table. (so I do not apply this patch)

    I have try it with jre-6u18-windows - i586.exe and jre-6u17-windows - i586.exe, but
I did the upgrade and when I try to log on ebs I error in the java console (on my machine) below:

Anyone have idea? I checked Apache and Jserv log too but can't find similar in metalink

    Thank you
    HELIOS

    Helios,

Try to enable logging of the follow-up/as (Note: 549423.1.1 - how to enable tracing and logging for Sun JRE (plugin Native)) and see if you get more details about the error.

    Kind regards
    Hussein
