• Misunderstanding NIDAQmx Timebase revisited

  I use a USB-6251 box with analog sampling controlled by an encoder.  In some cases, the user wants to divide the encoder to achieve a lower sampling rate.  I used code similar to that described in the previous posts on the "misunderstanding NIDAQmx Timebase'.  This solution worked for relatively low sampling frequencies but fails when the sampling frequency is greater than about 120000.

  In this code, if the divisor is 1, the code works to achieve a sampling rate that I can reach, about 500000.  If the divisor is two, and the sampling frequency is less than 120000 when the code is run, it works until the encoeder speed is increased so that the sampling rate is higher than 120000 where sampling simply stops.

  If the speed of the encoder is more than 120000 when code is started, the real divider seems to be increased until the sampling frequency is less than 120000.  No error is returned for each of the function calls.

  I tried several variations of this code and many variations of the value of daq_card.max_scan_rate (s) with no difference in performance.  normally, the value of daq_card.max_scan_rate is 1250000 for box USB-6251.  I tried several different values in the two localities where the value appears in the DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming() function.

  The data is read from the box USB-6251 to a PC 12 times per second.  I tried setting the buffer size just above the minimum for the sampling rate and read times and also well beyond this size without a change in performance.

  Finally solved this with a lot of help from Sara Lewandroski, (Applications Engineer NOR)!

  The problem occurs because the DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming() function is not always set the clock to convert properly, probably because he does not know the maximum frequency of the external sample clock.

  The solution is to explicitly set the clock converted at a rate that allows to convert the desired number of channels before the next sample happens clock.

  The function to set the clock to convert is:

  DAQmxSetAIConvTimebaseDiv (acqTask1, 20);

  where 20 is 20 MHz clock divider.  With this divider set to 20, the convert clock frequency is 1.0 MHz which is the maximum for the USB-6251 case multichannel.  With two channels, this allows the sample clock to rise to 500 kHz, until the data is lost.

  This function is not a function panel and not every upward in the list of functions within the CVI DAQmx.  The only documentation that I could find is the reference C DAQmx help.  Even there it does not appear in the content, but can be found using the search function.

  It is simply an on again off again bug in the Jive Software running these forums. Quite often refresh the page or just wait a few moments and try again will fix it. There is nothing that you are doing wrong.

• Conversion of the discussions of the Forum Pages

  Why not just copy the formatted text and which paste directly into Pages? The formatting will be retained but perhaps also all line breaks, if there is.

  You have only the tags because you it converted to txt using the browser/player.

  If it is in fact nothing, but formatting HTML/XML, try to open it in LibreOffice [free] and see if it opens as formatting, because then you can simply save it as Word .docx and open in the Pages.

  The support forum seems well designed overall, but I wish there was a button 'Cancel' button 'I also have this problem. I'm constantly clicking this button by accident and it seems there is no cancellation. It distorts what problems are really important and is confusing. Maybe just a button next to the option to receive updates?

  In the pages of the coursera.org forum, there are different icons and buttons. They do not display correctly. I can see only tiny forms square with characters in them. Hovering on them can display information in some cases, but it is not very convenient. Although they recommend Firefox, I use Chrome instead. Chrome has no questions here so far. Is it possible to view these icons correctly?

  Many sites now use downloadable fonts to create their icons instead of the traditional image files. So, there are some Firefox settings that might be a factor, as well as the NoScript extension, if you use this (blocked objects).

  (1) in the dialog box fonts Advanced, unchecking the checkbox which allows the site to use its own choice of fonts. To check that:

  "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > content > button "Advanced".

  Here you must "allow pages to choose their own fonts.

  (2) on the deactivation of fonts downloaded in: config. It's less likely, or you remember probably not, but here's how to check on it.

  • In a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.
  • In the search box at the top of the list, type or paste the gfx and make a pause so that the list is filtered
  • If gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled preference is bold and user, set false, double-click it to return it true.

  This seems useful.

• Could not load certain types of forums

  While browsing through a few, some forums does not correctly load in Mozilla Firefox (same with IE), while when you use Google Chrome, it loads perfectly, this has been a problem for me for about 2-3 months without. I don't know if it's the problem of the Explorer solutions, or are a few glitch encryption (given that the site had DDoS protection by CloudFlare). As much as I saw it, the page has not been updated (update that happened initially charged very well).
