FPGA reset during power loss? NEITHER 9802 Module

We have recently started using the NI 9802 on a cRIO system. We get the error-65550 discussed here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/BD118434E87B9732862575C8006FD7FB

The article says that the error can be caused by resetting FPGA, while the drive was mounted. "To avoid this error to occur in the future, do not reset the FPGA so that you have an SD card installed, reset before getting the map or after the card is dismantling. Is a loss of power reset the FPGA and will need to reformat the card? We intend to use it as a remote system and the power failure is possible. We would not be able to travel hundreds of miles on the device to reformat an SD card in the case of a loss of power. This is not normal. How could they sell a module that worked like this?

In addition, must the card be formatted with FAT32 or FAT16?

rex1030,

You can make this system more reliable is to wire the battery backup to the secondary entrance on the cRIO.  There is screw allows you to analyze of what energy source is active (I think there are examples, otherwise I can watch it for you) so that you can detect that you have switched to the backup power source and properly remove your SD card.  When the power is restored you can back the card and continue where you left off (and ideally to recharge the battery backup).

  • W500 power loss

I had a W500 WIndows 7 that turns off, usually unexpectedly while you sleep, but sometimes too, so on. Disable it happens as if the power is lost (for example, the battery/cord are torn out). After a turn off like that, I sometimes need to reconnect the battery and the power cord. Doing some reading here and elsewhere on the web and came upon the electrostatic suggestion. Was able to go back at least a few times by touching the underside of the laptop, but it worked erratically.

Since it occurs especially when the unit is in standby, I pretty much dismissed temperature and software problems.

Decided to check the spindle of memory section bending solution. My laptop needs to have his palm rest took off to access the RAM modules. People kept on some pins door RAM, but since mine is not a special door of the RAM, I folded the pins at the bottom of the palm rest, and so far, no loss of power, but it is too early to tell.

Laptop computer BTW is not guaranteed. Any suggestions? What I did is generally useful? Any other reason power loss sudden that I'm missing? (other than a software, heat and electrostatic)

    Thank you!!!

    Help, please.

    Hello:

If your efforts to clear the BIOS password by removing the Green password jumper failed, that is to say that rigorous security was put in the Security menu.

When rigorous security are defined in the BIOS, which replaces the cavalier password of compensation.

Unfortunately, the solution is to replace the motherboard.

  • "IO Module\Reinitialize' IO NŒUD FPGA resets my memory default block (as defined on Project Explorer)

I would like to reset my memory block to all zeros (only once) using the FPGA code. In my past experiences, it did not by the FPGA e/s 'IO done Module\Initialization' NŒUD.  To compensate for this, I used a SCTL that passes through each address of the memory block and stores a zero. The approach works fine, but I want to save space since we will quadruple the size of the code in a few months.

You should be able to set your memory to initialize to zero in the memory properties. Here is a link that should help you:

  • Disable the extended FIFO FPGA target during execution

    Hello

I use a FIFO extended target in my FPGA to constantly calculate the derivative of a measured value (dB/dt). Thus the FIFO stores all values during time dt. This means dt determines the number of items in the FIFO and dB is determined by the actual value less the oldest value in the FIFO. It works well when I initialize with the code in figure InitFIFO.

But the FIFO of compensation is not possible (see figure clearFIFO). In the while loop if "reset dB" is false, as the new value of B is written on the FIFO, then the oldest value is read from, for the number of items in the FIFO remain constant. To change dt during execution, I need to clear the FIFO and initialize it with a new length (number of items). I tried the next loop, but it does not work. The FIFO does not initilized with the elements. The length is zero and the loop counter for (#deltaB Length2) is 0.

What I am doing wrong? Is there a better way to erase a FIFO during execution in the FPGA? I'm now stuck for 2 days with this problem and looking forward to any idea or suggestion.

Thank you very much. Best regards

    Andy

    Hej,

Thank you for your response. You were correct, that deltab FIFO length was 0 because the defalt value was zero. The problem is that in my host vi on the RT system I put DeltaB FIFO length in a loop of high priority and as you can see when I restart the FPGA, DeltaB FIFO length has a valid value (the code in figure 1 works well with a local variable of DeltaB FIFO length in the FPGA). But the variable to set the variable "reset dB" is under the control of the loop of low priority of the host vi. And there, I had an entry DeltaB FIFO length unwired.

So, I learned that a control FPGA read/write unwired sends a '0' or resets the variable to its default value in the FPGA. I assumed that nothing is transferred and the last variable is retained if you let a control read/write unwired. Now, I learned of this stupid error!

    Thanks a lot again!

  • FPGA code with the evolution of the modules

I need to create FPGA code to a cRIO-9072 facing the development of the modules.

My cRIO will have a number any NI 9203 (analog acquisition) and modules OR 9411 (acquisition digital) as inserted by the operator. When turning the power on, the system must identify two possible modules were inserted in each of the slots. Subsequently, he will then know what choices of code to call to acquire data from the individual modules.

I found the article in the knowledge base for CRY that queries each module and again reports the type of module and I can use it to successfully detect modules, but what LabVIEW fails to allow me to do this is to compile my FPGA code that was designed to deal with possible modules. After compiling, I get the error: "IO found point FPGA project. You must add the I/O item in the Project Explorer window, or select a different element in the control of FPGA of IO or the constant"because the compiler requires the appropriate modules are configured in the LabVIEW project. Unfortunately, this would require two different modules to be configured for each slot at the same time as there are sections of code for the 9203 modules and sections for 9411 modules for all eight locations coexist in a vi.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get LabVIEW to compile my FPGA code somehow?

    Many thanks in advance,

With the current draft of LabVIEW FPGA, you cannot compile a LabVIEW FPGA VI which manages several configurations of C Series modules.

For your application, you must create a target of your project for each of the possible configurations of module and build the corresponding FPGA VI. Then, compile each of the screws to create the necessary for each configuration FPGA bitstream. Then in your host VI, you can detect what the current configuration of the module and download the binary stream appropriate for the FPGA. Another issue to consider is that the reference to the FPGA VI/bitstream returned by the open FPGA VI reference function will be unique to each bitstream/module configuration. So in your host VI, you'll need treat each configuration of the module with a separate set of code by contacting the FPGA.

If you consider only two different modules and an eight slot chassis, there are 9 modules possible combinations. The condition would be to the end user to place all modules of the same type together, either from the left or the right side of the chassis.

  • NEITHER 9802 save file

    Hi all

I just bought a NI 9802 (place on a RIO 9074) module and would like store data in Mode of scanning engine. I had a look at the examples and in similar positions in this forum and realized that I have to call it as I call it any other target FPGA. It is not yet clear to me is to know if I need to combine this standard method (target FPGA--> mount the SD card--> perform operations write--> remove SD Card, attached here as Scan_Engine_vi) with a purpose built FPGA code that runs in the background.

In addition, in which case I must not write the FPGA code, could I just use the same VI wrote to control my module 9478 (see attached FPGA_vi)?

Thanks a lot for your time,.

  • Satellite M60/M55: Turns off after power loss

Reposting because the original threads are locked.

My M60 sometimes turns off immediately after unplugging the power supply (AC power or plug the laptop CC), instead of out on the battery even though the battery is fully charged.
The battery is OK & the laptop starts regularly on the battery after pressing the on switch.
The Toshiba Power Saver seems to work OK & I have the latest version of the BIOS.
I always save my work before unplugging, but again, I do not like this behavior & would appreciate some good advice.

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=19092
Satellite M55 turns off by unplugging the power cable to unplug my laptop making rather that to the battery, my laptop will often simply turn off even though the battery is fully charged. Other time things work as it should.

I had the motherboard replaced for another reason and was quite surprised to notice the problem after a replacement (but without reinstalling OS).
The main suspect is the TPS and its pilot; A few months ago, a new version is released the Toshiba support site for M60 (although file dates are not fresh, and I think that I have installed this version earlier).

So, I removed the GST and the GST pilot. I tried several times and it didn't happen again. Not even when I reinstalled the.

During the test, I have disabled the HD write cache to avoid file corruption problems (but this slows down HD operation, particularly of hibernation).
I don't know if it works because also earlier the computer would be closed only occasionally, not all the time. But this may be a clue in case you have this problem. If you do, please test and report the result, no matter what the result is.

What to say dude. The problem is that this problem occurs ONLY occasionally and so it's not easy to find the real reason for these cases.

However, I would try to give some useful advice, but first of all, it would be useful to know how old your battery.
Fact is that batteries old and stressed loose clean performance very quickly.
My battery is about 3 years and my laptop running on battery for 10-20 seconds even if it s fully charged. The performance is simple very low!

On the other hand the problem could be related to faulty electronic power to the Board of Directors
As you can see it's not easy to tell what's exactly wrong and as already suggested in other threads (locked), you should ask a technician for a control of the laptop.
The guy could run diagnostics tests and can locate the fault.

    Best regards

  • FPGA memory during construction errors...

I am building an FPGA application for a sbRIO-9636. I just added an element of memory to act as a circular buffer.
