Frequent DeskJet F4580 wireless disconnects

I'm having a problem whereby the F4580 simply stops responding to network traffic after an hour or two of not used.

There are no settings in the built-in Web server to change this behavior, and the only way I can solve it is to power cycle the printer

So far, I tried the following:

Disabled IPv6 on router (Buffalo WII-HP-G300NH) and PC (Win7 64 bit)

Assigned to static IP address (from outside DHCP rank)

Disabled all firewall

Forwarded to all ports mentioned on this post

Installed the printer using a USB cable, Ethernet and WPS

Set of wireless network at no encryption (also tried WEP and WPA)

Even tried an old Netgear router I had knocking around thinking bison was somehow inconsistent but still got the same problem

Strange thing is, when the printer is disconnected (normally after one hour of non-use), the Network Configuration page still shows the method static IP I assigned to it (192.168.11.20) the light remains blue wireless solid (as in 'connected'), but the client monitor on my router did not mention the printer or it is MAC address.

During this time I can not ping the printer from any PC on my local network. However after a power magically in the cycle it starts to work.

This seems like a problem with the NETWORK card wireless on the printer itself. Is it possible to prevent it from entering the mode 'sleep'?

New firmware?

The only thing I can find on the HP support pages are basic and full (quite horrible) printer driver version and a useless "Network Diagnostic Utility.

I cannot accept "Fix" of HP of power cycling of the printer. What is the point of buying a wireless printer if I have to restart every time I want to print something?

Any help would be greaty appreciated

Kenny Dee

We will set an IP address of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') 250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS.
-Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • DeskJet F4580: Deskjet F4580 wireless connection problem

I installed my old F4580 on my new HP laptop but you can print using only the USB cable. The printer is also set up on my old computer and works via wifi with no problems. I should add that I had many problems to install this printer on my new HP laptop, but thanks to this forum I found the link to the drivers who eventually worked and managed to install it.

With the help of HP Support Assistant I checked the driver updates, but he found none, which should mean that I have the latest version.

Do you have suggestions for me how to fix it?

    Thank you

    Hello @Qala!

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I would be happy to provide you with some suggestions which should hopefully solve the problem of printing wireless on the new computer.  If the printer works wirelessly to a computer, then it should work other wireless.  I see that you have all software installed for Windows 8.1 printer but you can't print USB.  It is possible that a firewall in the Windows 8.1 operating system blocks the wireless printer.  This happens occasionally with new systems.

I recommend to download HP Print and Scan doctor.  With printing and scanning doctor, you can temporarily disable the firewall that may block the printer from the computer.  If the printer is found, you need to turn your firewall on back to make sure that your computer is blocked.

To download the print and the doctor Scan click here: print and Scan Doctor

To temporarily turn off the firewall:

    1. Download and open the Print and Scan Doctor
    2. Click on 'Network' at the top of the window
    3. Click on 'firewall troubleshooting. "
    4. Select the firewall and disable

Launch the software HP again to see if the printer is located.  If the printer is not found, then you want to communicate with your provider of firewall while allowing access to the printer to the computer.

    To turn on the firewall:

    1. Open the print and Scan Doctor
    2. Click on 'Network' at the top of the window
    3. Click on 'firewall troubleshooting. "
    4. Select the firewall and select

If please, after back and let me know how it goes!

  • Installation ePrint Deskjet F4580

I have a Deskjet F4580 (wireless) and I want to be able to print to it from my mobile using the home & Biz of HP ePrint app. All the information I've found says the F4580 is compatible for printing wifi, but I'm unable to find all the information on how to set up? Anyone have any ideas?

    Hello Chrisjimenez71,

Sorry for the confusion and hope I can clarify this issue.   Your printer supports printing photo, documents, and web pages by using the application home and Biz, however it does not support ePrint.  To save this app to ePrint, you MUST have an ePrint printer, if you have recording ePrint open on the application, you must cancel the registration, this printer will not be using it, but if your mobile device is on the same WiFi as the printer you can print using photo albums, recorded files and web browser (located at the top left of the application).  I hope this has helped to clear up any confusion.  If you want to use the ePrint to the application portion, you must get an ePrint printer, if you need a list of printer ePrint just make me know.

Hello! @Liz1712, thank you for joining the HP Forums!

I understand that you have your wireless printer connection problems.

Please try a few steps recommended below.

On the printer Panel, hold down the button for two seconds wireless.
    NOTE:
The printer starts a timer that allows two minutes to push the button of the wireless router WPS.
Hold down the button the router WPS wireless for several seconds. The printer automatically detects the wireless network and then configure the connection.
If your printer connects successfully to the wireless network, proceed to the next step.
If your printer is not connected to the network wireless with WPS, you must use a temporary USB connection to set up your printer on the wireless network. Go to the next step.

  • DeskJet F4580: help! DeskJet F4580 no USB cable wireless configuration!

    Hello!

I recently got an opportunity of HP Deskjet F4580 of my university degree all-in-one wireless printer and I can't understand how to set up for printing. The person who gave it to me had more the USB connector, but they said I should be able to put it up though as it is a wireless printer.

The problem is that all of the messages that I found on this issue, said either connect manually to Wifi using a USB cord, press the WPS button on the router for a long time until it the printer automatically connects to the router (I tried this and nothing happened), or press the wireless to the printer and then connect to the wireless connection , it emits and then use this method. The question ultimately is that even if I am able to get the flashing blue wireless key none of my devices wireless recognizes the printer as a wireless network (at least not as far as I understand).

I tried to set up since yesterday and I'm really mixes responses to what I should do. Can someone please help me solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance

Yes you will need a cable to USB printer like this.

    https://www.Amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-2-0-cable--male/DP/B00NH11KIK/ref=sr_1_1?s=PC&ie=UTF8&QID=1471960536&SR=1-1&keywords=printer+USB+cable

Then, download and read the Guide here...

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-DeskJet-F4500-all-in-one-printer-series/3944755/model/3944756/manuals

and follow the instructions to connect through the connection of Tradional wireless.  Only insert the cable when the software tells you to do.
