From Aperture to Lightroom - my images in Aperture adjusted are imported as smal jpg files in a folder in Lightroom

I've been using Aperture for many years. My photos are raw files and I adjusted the slot Aperture.

When I moved from Aperture to Lightroom the adjusted images when moved to a separate folder as jpg files (the size is pretty smal comepared to raw)

My question: do I have to set all my images once more to get a large enough file to print or are the some kind og shortened?

Hi kari b lk,

Could you please confirm the workflow how to transfer your images from Aperture to Lightroom?

Have you export images in Aperture, and then import them into Lightroom or you haven't imported the plugin integrated in Lightroom?

See this FAQ if you have transferred via the plugin: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/aperture-import-plug-in-lightroom-faq.html

Kind regards

Claes

I captured images in a project of first Pro CC.  View mpeg capture scratch via quicktime, it shows the images exactly as described above w/lightning and tornado.  WHEN I IMPORTED the images capture scratch in the project and then in the timeline panel, and then display the images in the source window or viewer in FULL or any resolution THAT SECOND IMAGE with the lightning bolt does not appear... what I see is a very low light clarification of the entire scene. Average read made lightning over-saturating part any of this framework, so it's not a problem.  It is as if parts of everything that happens in this second 1 disappeared, lightning does not appear.

  • Images imported from Aperture appear 'washed out' in Lightroom.

I am aware that Lightroom is using ProPhoto RGB. When I export images from Aperture in a folder and then import them into Lightroom the images appear very different. Is there a setting I'm missing the images seem "washed" in Lightroom. When I export to the desktop and open it in Photoshop, they look the same as in the opening. After I import into Lightroom and opened in Photoshop they seem always washed out.

New in Lightroom and try to find the right alternative to opening.

    Thanks in advance.

You are probably right, there is a problem with color profiles and range.  Opening uses a different raw converter, which will create some variation.  In fact, a lot like the look of straight opening raw format conversions on straight conversions from ACR.  But if the washed-out look is dramatic and Photoshop opens your correct raw files, then it must be a matter of profile.

It can help to explain how you export from Aperture.  Are your source files, raw, PSD, TIFF, or JPEG files?   Are the masters-exporter you, or you export versions?  If you export versions, take a look at your "source preset" when exporting.  What color profile you integrate?

Although if you include any color profile, Photoshop and Lightroom must pick up.

Everything I read is that Lightroom handles the profiles more transparent than Photoshop, but maybe someone could go on here and tell how it is managed.

Finally, what purpose export you and import in Lightroom?  If you are migrating your library to a Lightroom Catalog, you can better served by using the plug-in migration opening.

    Opening import plugin now available

The plug-in still has problems with foreign characters, import all the previews and face previews Keywords and keywording.  You will be better to wait until these problems are resolved.  Even if you can not, the plugin still would be a better option than a manual attempt, unless you do something else than the migration of your Aperture library.

  • I've set up an image processor in Photoshop and is to ignore some jpg files - can I batch convert convert these files to make them compatible?

I have a number of jpg files in a folder that I am running a custom action on.

It works very well for some files, but it completely ignores the others. Even if some of the ignored files are JPG files, I think they could be another type of jpg file, and that's why Adobe is ignorant.

Is it possible for me to batch convert all these files, be it through Photoshop or another program, in a PS compatible files so that the image processor will treat?

    Thank you!

The preference file may be corrupted, try to reset as mentioned above.

Except that the only thing comes to mind is he thinks the file is a duplicate one ignores. But that's just a guess.

One of the major downfalls of Aperture is that it shows you where are your pictures. They always favored it as a feature (even as a ' new paradigm'), but it's not so wonderful when you need to do something about Apple never intended. Then, it sounds really like it led to you not knowing where your files or files that correspond to which elements of the UI opening. I suggest that you need to nail for yourself - images from Aperture to right click and choose Show in Finder, until you know where everything is.

Otherwise, make sure you have plenty of available disk space, stop asking questions and just see what happens when you run plugin import LR with the options I suggested. It won't damage the opening.

  • How do I import photos from Aperture high ground for inDesign

I did a bit of research on this but it seems that nobody has found a good way to do it.  However, it seems simple enough...

-My photos are in Aperture 3.x.

-I just got inDesign CS6 to create a book.

-I can click and drag images from Aperture to inDesign without problem, except that... it brings in the preview.  Not the file full ground.  I don't mind working with the preview low ground of course... as long as it brings then size one at time of export.  But this seems not to happen.

System: iMac 24 ", Mac OS 10.8, all the latest version of the software.

I guess I could start by exporting all the photos on the desktop, but this would be an additional step of your time.  There must be a better way.  Uhhhh... right?

    Thanks for any help.

You mean like by selecting 'View of the icon' from 4 different display modes at the top of the Finder Windows?

You can also adjust the size of the preview with the cursor on the bottom right window in icon mode.

Click on the images below in the forum to see a larger view.

Or as "Point of view Coverflow" one of the other points of view. You can scroll through the photos using the arrow keys on your keyboard.

Or by clicking on the icon of one of your photos, press the space bar on the keyboard.

You can then use the arrow keys left and right to scroll through your photos. The following photos will replace the current photo on the screen.

Or if you have Creative Suite, you can use Bridge to view your photos at the same time. There are also some other features in Bridge. You can even drag photos directly from bridge to InDesign and it will automatically create links.

In more recent versions of Mac OS x and InDesign, you can even drag the photos directly from the Finder in InDesign and it will automatically create links.

Is it possible to transfer an image from Photoshop to Lightroom?

    Hi Kirton

There is no option in Photoshop that will take you to Lightroom.

You can save the image, then open with Lightroom

If you save the image to Photoshop in the same folder where the image is located in your catalog

Then Lightroom wil add it automatically to the addition of catalog "-change" suffix in the name of the image. This is what we call return

  • Migrating from Aperture 3 for LR5

I downloaded just LR5 and you want to migrate from Aperture 3.

The instructions are to go to LR-> file-> Plugin select that does not appear as a choice.

I can't find my Aperture library on my Mac desktop or my external hard drive devices.

Can you help me get started so I can jump in the pool to LR?

It cannot be that difficult to go there.

    Thank you.

    IRA

I don't see the option file-> Plugin options.

Hmm, something is really wide.  Why don't you start LR and then take a screenshot in typing Command-Shift-3.  This will put a PNG on your desktop.  Return to this topic in your Web browser (do not e-mail), start an answer and then click on the camera icon to download the screenshot here:
