From VS Oracel Service starting the Oracle Instance

Hello
No matter which can expain what is the difference between from the Services (using SERVICES. Oracle MSC) and from the instance of oracle (using start how)? What's happening in oracle, while doing these things?

Thank you
Nidhi

Windows registers and executable with itself in its register. What memory or everything that is needed for this executable to work, its only when Windows can get in its register, as well as with the registry, the executable files are linked are services. Very simply, if Orcle needs to work, the service must be started. But by starting the service, the only thing you've done is you've connected to oracle with windows. Unable to start the database for which you issue, specific to oracle command, start. So somehow, the two are very different things IMHO.

    Hi Experts,

I tried searching but could not solve this problem.

Reinstalled Jdeveloper, formatted my system did not work. Different version of JDeveloper also gives the same error in my system.

One thing when I go to the folder structure, I can see the default domain contains only the config folder. The rest are missing.

Also, I have all the rights of administrator on all folders/subfolders. I can create a separate domain and run the weblogic. But I can't start the new instance of JDeveloper. I get the same error.

  • Cannot start the database instance - cannot open the spfile

Here's what I did, that lead to a problem starting my database instance. It is a database that I just load data, and I do not have a backup yet :-(

I created a structure for a new database and data loaded from a different database, which has been a very long process of becasus of the amount of data.

Today, I decided to create a model of this database by using the Configuration Wizard.

Before you begin the management of models, I decided to remove an old database that was never created correctly. I used the Setup Wizard to remove this database and got an error that SPFILEROVM. There is no such thing as ORA. But the removal has completed, and I worry too much.

Then, I started to create my GoodDatabase model. I stopped with the message again that the SPFILEROVM. ORA (from the old database) did not exist. But it is already stopped my GoodDatabase and I can't restart. I use OEM Database Control for restart, but I get the complaint about the SPFILEROVM once again. ORA of the old database. How can I solve this problem? The error of OEM is attached below. The database is under Windows Server 2003. I can connect in OEM to another database instance (orcle) but I do not have the OEM rack.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Test the Oracle Instance on the smaller box (RAM problems)

I got the task of taking an existing database of production and creation of a database of test on a much smaller box. The production box has 48 GB of RAM and eight CPUS (Itanium running HP - UX 11.23). The test box has four gigabytes of RAM and a processor. We had a process in place in the past to do this for Oracle 9i. All the data files, redo logs and Oracle 10g binaries are hosted on an HP EVA SAN, so we use snapshot or mirror of the cloning technology during the production on the test server instance.

On Oracle 9i, we used to copy the data, delete the control files, then run a script to create new files of control for the test instance. I don't know if the old 9i writing work and have not yet tested this part. Mainly because I have problems to get the test instance to start reliably in the first place. When I copied all the data on, I changed the tnsnames.ora to reflect the host name of the new machine. I made a few adjustments in the file init.ora for production DB as well. At the beginning, I was able to start the database and everything seemed fine. But when I tried to stop him, he gave me the following error message:

    [07:32] [oracle@OracleC:~]$sqlplus "/ as sysdba"]

    SQL * more: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production Wed Jul 22 07:32:11 2009

    SQL > startup nomount;

This error is broad enough that I am certain that what he means is a bad server configuration of database for me probably a problem in the init.ora or SPFILE with a parameter that is calibrated for 48 GB box, not the box of 4 GB.

Then I run "ipcrm". But if I run "swapinfo", it always indicates that most of the system's RAM is eaten up:

I can't to free up RAM (which is usually about 20% used) after the start of Oracle attempt. The kernel parameters are defined for Oracle9i recommendations, so that they should not be too far from what is recommended for Oracle 10 g.

I worked on it for about two or three weeks and I am almost of ideas. So any suggestions are welcome.

I always used SQL Server as the database, and it was easy to use after installation.

With management program configuration of SQL Server I could to start service SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) and the database server start!

With SQL Server management studio, I was able to launch the client application, then was to establish a connection to the server and everything worked great!

Now, how to work with the oracle database?

I installed the oracle server and client version 11g R2 in windows 8, but how do I start the database?... and how can I start the client application to query?

    best wishes in advance.

    PS: Sorry for my English.

If you are on the same machine, the only service that you absolutely need to start is the database service.  In your case OracleServiceSYSDBA (hmmm... How did you find with this name?).

For queries, you can use SQL * Plus which should also be installed.  If you want something GUI, you can use SQL Developer (you need to install separately I think).

  • Can we change the name of the Oracle instance after confoguration.

    Hello

Has anyone tried to change the name of the Instance of Oracle once all components of the EPM are configured.
I mean, after the system is running. Do I have to re - setup everything with the new instance name?
If Yes, what happens to the data that already existed in the schemas?

    Thanks in advance,
    PM

    Try the following

«On the machine hosting Shared Services, launch EPM System Configurator with the enableRegTask option: do EPM_ORACLE_HOME/common/config/version_number the current directory, then launch configtool.bat |.» SH - enableRegTask. »

    See you soon

This is false. You cannot assign the names on your own interests. You can create as below

    SQL > create spfile ='+ DATA 'from pfile='/u01/asm_pfile.ora ';
