  Hi I had something very similar happen to me after having just a new laptop. Same questions, I could connect and see the inbox but able to modify records, open emails or send new ones.

  After all my frustration, I did these steps and oddly enough it worked... I don't know WHY it works now.

  First, clear your Cache and delete all cookies. These two is located under "Tools" - "options" - "network (for the cache), then 'privacy (cookies).

  Then go to your addon plugin. 'Tools' - 'Addons' - 'Plugins' disable all and try again to hotmail. If that works, start allowing addons one by one and keep checking.

  This is supposed to find a conflict why do not open emails and this plugin is the culprit. But I have disabled all mine, then all the new activated and things worked very well. So I don't know. Computers are weird! I hope this helps.

• 12 Firefox will not now allow Hotmail work.

  Having been using Firefox for a few years now and never had any problems with access to Hotmail. Recently updated to 12 of Firefox and initially it worked fine with Hotmail.

  In the last days, Hotmail has become unusable. I can connect you as usual, but in the face of the normal display of my Inbox, nothing is usable. I can't open the visible mails when they are clicked on, nor can I access the other e-mail folders, including custom. In fact, the page is "frozen" - page buttons appear when you click on them, but the view remains the same, and nothing can be consulted.   This is the mail of the window, it has been upgraded to manage Hotmail.  The error code indicates "connect to the mobile information server end." I came across this problem with Outlook Express similar years when Microsoft decided that Outlook cannot access Hotmail accounts on subscription.  Email client has no connection to Google problem.  Thank you

  My wife and I use Windows Live Hotmail, on VISTA 32-bit, but on different computers (she has Internet Explorer version 9.0.2). His Hotmail, the number of e-mails "unread" came to 121 while we were on vacation - then remained at 121, after we came back and she had read all his emails.  Currently, when each new email arrives, it simply adds 1 number of 121frozen, and when these new emails are read, the total 'no read' backup down the 'frozen' number of 121.  I tried his Hotmail on my computer, it does the same thing on my computer than on his own and I don't have a problem with my Hotmail.

  Another problem that may have shown at the same time, is when she using the 'up' or "down" arrows to move, up and down a page of Hotmail (ONLY on Hotmail), the reaction is very slow and jerky.
