G - drives not recognized by MacBook Pro 13"

Hello

I have three G-drives; It broke in early 2013, another broke out by end 2014 and this one broke yesterday. I mainly use external hard drives to move movies on my MacBook Pro once I watched, while in the past, I have not too concerned about the loss of data. However this last disc contained a set of backup of my old hard drive MacBook (which has also since expired and off) which is full of personal files, I could really do without losing, not to mention a ton of files for work. So, I really need to recover data... In hindsight, it's my stupid fault continues to buy G-technology, given all the press they get, and my own experience, but no point dwelling on it.

I excluded the following:

-Problem with USB ports: ports to recognize the other two external hard drives, I have, as well as four different USB keys

-Problem with the head: I tested with two different threads and the thread of my other external hard drives (which work with thin discs)

-Power: I used a USB (the one with two separate connectors) power cable and not of joy (G-readers do not come with an external power supply so I can't try it)

-Dismantling: I ran utility disc with three connected but without success. They do not appear in the sidebar, just Macintosh HD

-Finder preferences: it's not that either, I checked. Show external hard drives on desktop is checked

Equipment:

Disc 1: G-Drive Slim, 500GB, 0G 01996

Disc 2: G-Drive Ev, 500GB, GDEVEA5001BDB

Disc 3: Old and the sticker is barely readable. Of its 250 GB memory, but I was able to deceive.

Mac: MacBook Pro (retina, 13-inch, early 2015), graphic card Intel Iris 6100 1536 MB, 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3, Intel Core i5 at 2.7 GHz. It runs OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 (15 d 21)

I also tried connecting it to a Windows computer that runs Windows 10 to see if I could see it in the Windows Disk Manager. Do it, I received the following notification with all three; "The last USB device that you connected to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize."

I have never actually used with a Windows PC, but it could be by for the course.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I'm not fussed on their fixation, so I can continue to use them. I have other readers of credible brands which I can store and continue to use instead, so my only goal becomes data. I see many people on the forums advise people to buy hard drives decent brands. This is useful for people do not buy a hard G, but I already know that they are of poor quality, while this information is not useful to my situation. I just need some sort of resolution so I can recover my data. Thank you.

Are these 2.5 "diameter disks?  If so, remove the naked reader, insert in a known functional Cabinet and connect it to your MBP.  It may be the disk G SATA connection is failing.

If not successful, you may need to use a professional data recovery service.  A lot of $$$ and no guarantee of success.

Ciao.

  • Built in hard drives not recognized Mac pro 2010

Hi all. At work, I have a Mac Pro 2010 tour which has two built in disks, running 10.10.5. Recently, the computer is not recognizing its own built in disks. The keyboard eject button will not open any of them, nor will be the eject option in the menu bar - he thinks that there are no drives connected. • New DVD drive not recognized on my Satellite Pro 4600

    Hi all

I recently bought an engraver of DVD in NEC ND-6650 nine.
This drive is NOT recognized by my Satellite Pro 4600 at all - neither Windows 2000 nor in the BIOS (v 2.60). BIOS updates higher than the 2.60 version are not provided.
Does that mean I can forget about using the new writer in my old notebook?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Nils

    Hi Nils,

I suspect that your new drive may be not be compatible with your laptop. Like all scanners to your new drive will be configured as slave or master (or CSEL possible), and this configuration should match your laptop.

Usually your hard drive is configured as master on IDE channel 0 with optical drive is the slave on the same channel device. However, you may find that your optical drive is configured as master on the IDE 1 channel.

Normally the setting is preconfigured by the manufacturer so you will need to check both the conficuration of your new drive and the configuration of your original drive to make sure they are the same.

  • Floppy USB drive not recognized when installing WinXP on Satellite Pro L40

    History:

I bought a Satellite Pro L40, it came with windows vista. I can't stand vista windows for obvious reasons. so I formatted the HARD drive. I have a copy of windows XP.

IV ' e read on the internet that I need Intel storage driver manager...

IA´ve got the driver, he got on a floppy, and it does not, because when I start to install XP, it works (after pressing F6 & choose the driver to install). I come to the part of license agreement, press F8 accept...

I select the partition I want to use (in format completely on vista). It starts to load more stuff... so he said "PLEASE INSERT LABELD - INTEL MATRIX STORAGE MANAGER DRIVER - DISK IN DRIVE A:" "PRESS ENTER WHEN READY."

The disc that I used in the first place is always in. when I press on enter, nothing NOT to PAST (the USB floppy drive is not yet into action)

How can I make it work? It is that I can get.

I DON'T WANT BACK TO VISTA - HELP!

This could happen if the floppy USB doesn t drive supports the standards of law. Some people have reported on different websites many floppy drives are not recognized.

However, worry guy. I have a solution ;) (jeaaa: D)

Try to create a new XP CD using the software called nLite!
Then, you could include the SATA (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) driver in this new CD and then you could boot from the XP CD again.

For details and how to use the nLite please Google because there are a lot of useful Web sites.

  • Commercial DVDs do not play on MacBook Pro.  "Not allowed" and "Supported disc not available" is displayed.  DVD plays normally when inserted in a different drive.

    MacBook Pro (15 inch, early 2011) / 2 GHz Intel Core i7 / 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 / OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6

    DVD Player Version 5500.66 / Build 5,560 (2)

When commercial DVD (NTSC) inserted in the MacBook Pro DVD Player error messages "forbidden" and "Supported disc not available" are displayed when I tried to play the DVD.  When the DVD was removed from the MacBook Pro and inserted into a different DVD player, it works normally, then the DVD was apparently not the problem.

    Your help is appreciated...

Delete ' ~ / Library/Preferences/com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist ' and a DVD player or reopen could solve the problem.

    Hi Paul,.

You don't say what model of laptop you have, but generally speaking if you are using Windows XP then you will use the standard Microsoft drivers for your scanner.

However, you can Toshiba drivers and utilities download from Toshiba web site by clicking on the Support section and downloads and selection of files to download. You will need to fill in the details of your laptop so that the list of appropriate driver (unless you have provided these details when you register).

  • CD/DVD drive not recognized inside the virtual machine

No matter what I do, I can't get my VM (XP) to recognize the CD/DVD drive. I am running version 2.0.6 of merger and under Mac OS X (10.5.8) on a MacBook Pro. I did a right click on the CD icon in the lower right corner of the computer virtual window, then select 'connect' CD/DVD - I see while the disc turns black (which indicates it's supposed to be connected). I launch Windows Explorer in my virtual machine, but I do not see the CD/DVD drive listed anywhere! Help, please. I have the VM settings to connect to the physical CD/DVD (DVD-R MATSHITA UJ-875) drive. Thanks in advance.

  • put the old macbook pro hard drive in the new macbook pro

so I have a MacBook Pro with a port of moniter fried on the motherboard and the battery started to swell physically so I removed the drive HARD and RAM end of 2009. So here's my question; Now, I received recently a late 2010 MacBook Pro with a smaller HARD drive if I put my 500 GB HDD from my old computer and now I wonder why it does not start even if it's a MacBook Pro registered, formatted and updated HARD drive already?

Does not work like that. The OS X is for the Mac that you pulled. Bus information processor and the room and everything. Buy an external USB box and put the old hard drive in it. You will be able to recover your personal data and you can delete it, format and use it for external storage.

You cannot shoot a hard drive with OS X work and put it in any Mac. Once installed, OS X belongs to the Mac, it was planned to organize. Any OS that way, is not just Mac.

    Bravo!

  • External hard drive not recognized

It seems as if my Macbook Superdrive is not recognized by both my MacBook after upgrade to El Capitan.  I took my external drive to the Apple iStore, it has been tested and I've been told that it does not.  Then, I bought a new disc (R1999.30 - a lot of money!), and after connecting to my two computers today, I realized that this new album is also "does not work".  After each update, something that has worked well in the past, does not work. Has anyone found a solution yet?

How you try to burn the disks?

You get an error message? So then what?

  • Keyboard does not not on my macbook pro

Hello. I have an early 2011 MBP 13 inches. I've never touched the battery on my mac, even if I did some updates in the past. Now just tonight. I was using the mouse as usual for some reason any. I'm not able to operate the keyboard and the touchpad after that I went to the bathroom. When I came back my mac was in screensaver mode.  I did a reformat my hard drive and reinstalled OS X but that did not work. I finally opened my mac and remove the connector of the battery and I reinserted the connector again after a few minutes. My keyboard and touchpad are reworked. My question is this. The bluetooth had something to do with it? I made the correct procedure in the face of this problem?

Remove the battery reset the SMC.  Power failure all the correct step would be but the 2011 MacBook was designed with a non-removable battery and there is an easier way to reset the SMC.  If a keyboard or the built-in trackpad stopped working because it is not recognized then reset the SMC is the first step to take.  If you have a USB port or port thunderbolt also stops working without a connected devices are recognized, an SMC reset should be the first step.
