Commercial DVDs do not play on MacBook Pro.  "Not allowed" and "Supported disc not available" is displayed.  DVD plays normally when inserted in a different drive.

MacBook Pro (15 inch, early 2011) / 2 GHz Intel Core i7 / 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 / OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6

DVD Player Version 5500.66 / Build 5,560 (2)

When commercial DVD (NTSC) inserted in the MacBook Pro DVD Player error messages "forbidden" and "Supported disc not available" are displayed when I tried to play the DVD.  When the DVD was removed from the MacBook Pro and inserted into a different DVD player, it works normally, then the DVD was apparently not the problem.

Your help is appreciated...

Delete ' ~ / Library/Preferences/com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist ' and a DVD player or reopen could solve the problem.

    Hi jpjones2,

It worked before? If so, I suggest restarting the base station AirPort, Mac and the Photosmart. Then test it again. Ensure that the Photosmart works well autonomous - try printing a copy on the device.

Is only the failing printing and analysis very well? Or you are not able to install the device on your Mac at all?

Already check the Photosmart is connected to your network and has received an IP address?

This repeatedly will however reduce the battery life.

I have a Macbook Pro 2015 retina and I wonder how the cycles of battery are calculated?

If I load to 100% and then run it down on battery to 0% of course it counts as a battery cycle.

If I recharge to 90% and run up to 5% or 10%, which count as a battery sprays?     Between what % are there?

The reason I ask is that I try to keep the cumulative battery cycle count down.

    http://www.Apple.com/batteries/why-lithium-ion/

Whenever he finishes a full charge, it's a cycle.  If you charge 70% one day, then 30% another day, it's a cycle.

The Apple site, I posted above, it explains very clearly.

A cycle is counted when the battery has completed a 100% charge, not a discharge.

Even if it is very slow, you must make a return upwards before the race "repair disk". The risk of data loss is minimal, but do it anyway: Save and run to repair the disk.

As for what it implies - most of the time nothing more than simply sitting and waiting to do his thing.

  • MacBook Pro is slow and DVD does not

I have a strange situation. One of my mother's friends laid an old MacBook Pro to fix me. I don't have much experience of fixing Macs and have pretty much hit a brick wall.

Everything on this thing is very slow right now, which is his main concern. Startup takes forever, but then everything you do once it starts up is also very slow. Even waiting for files to open, research, etc..

She also said that a few days only before she brought to me, she had seen a DVD on it. The next day, she put another DVD in and it wouldn't work. She tried several DVDs with the same result.

Its main use for this uses Skype to talk to a parent who lives abroad. And Skype, too, has slowed down a lot to her. She claims that this happened pretty quickly.

Can someone tell me what is the problem and how to fix it for her? Thank you!

    Hello deacon303,

I understand you are trying to solve the problems of someone to another mac and you need a little help who get up and running. I can point you in the right direction to continue your troubleshooting.

Regarding the slowness, I have three articles for you to watch. The first goes on a few general suggestions on what to look for when a Mac is running slowly. Should you look to see if the hard drive is fun but also looking at activity monitor to see if an application takes a huge demand on the system. The second article is developing and using the activity monitor.  The third article will give a more comprehensive diagnosis on the verification of the startup disk. I know he's talking about what to do when a Mac does not completely start upward, but the steps are useful as well when the system seems slow.

Apps can affect the performance of Mac, battery, temperature and fan activity

Resolve startup issues and perform maintenance on disk with disk utility and fsck

With respect to the repair of the SuperDrive, the next article will help you with that. It will make reference to the use of a version USB Apple offers, but the diagnosis is the same.

  • MacBook Pro: Integrated keyboard and mouse not responding pluse

    I have a MacBook Pro 13 ", early 2015, installed with OS X 10.11.4.

I use it mainly to work, with the screen closed, an external display (via Thunderport) and an Apple and change Vertical Mouse 4 - times connected via Bluetooth wireless keyboard.

Before I get home, I open the screen, disconnect the power cord and power cord screen Thunderbolt and then close it. I leave the keyboard and Bluetooth mouse on as I leave the office.

It works normally, but yesterday my Mac kept looking for Bluetooth devices home and would not respond to the built-in keyboard and mouse (with the exception of the switch when maintained supported 10 seconds for a forced stop). Reboot doesn't change anything and I tried to reboot with the disk (Cmd + R) utility or reset the NVRAM (Cmd + Option + P + R) and the keys did nothing. Reset SMC (Shift + Ctrl + Option + power) does not seem to do anything either.

When I connected a keyboard Apple USB C, the keys have been recorded, but it would still find a missing mouse and go anywhere else than the screen "You are looking for a Bluetooth mouse".

Back at work today, everything works: built-in and Bluetooth devices.

    Any suggestions?

Update: the built-in keyboard and trackpad now don't work at all, even when Bluetooth devices are connected.

  • 2011 Macbook pro running slow and beach balling

My Early 2011 Macbook pro worked extremely slow for a few months.  He is lagging in the start-up and opening of all applications.  It also happened to coincide with my Wifi, refusing to recognize my Macbook, he repeated that a device was already on the network with the same IP address. I tried reseting the IP address several times.  But since he has never done this on other networks I received a new router this week and have not had a problem until now.

The biggest problem is the race slow, hot and delay.  I have 8 GB of RAM and a 1 TB hard drive. I'm running OS X 10.11.5. Any suggestion or help is greatly appreciated!

  • MacBook Pro keeps freezing and timing after update to El Captain 10.11.15

I have a MacBook Pro, which was previously executed on SCF 10.11.14 2013. I began to see problems before my laptop even turned on! When it is restarted after installation, I got about 60% of the way down the front loading apple bar it has completely stopped. I waited quite awhile (maybe 20 minutes) but no progress on the charge. I did a reboot hard twice before he finally finished (sidenote: both times I restarted, instead of starting at the beginning of the load bar as it should, the load bar would start in the place of 60% that he is stopped at the first time).

It finally comes and I had to open iTunes, Photoshop and Safari so it was very laggy. After working on my laptop for five minutes, the song that I had started doing these breaks, and Photoshop as well froze upwards. I tried to go on Safari, and that's where the beachball replaced my mouse arrow. I tried to use my MB with the only window open (photoshop), but even force weren't no longer works. It just seems to be freezing for longer periods of time.

I ended up doing a hard reboot once again and only with the help of Safari, but this does not work. Hard restart once again tried only using Photoshop and encountered the same problem. This last time, I have Photoshop open, but for some reason, the tools are not answer at all. For example, when you use the Paintbrush tool, you will see a circle in the placement of the classic mouse arrow when you are in the photoshop window. Well, the arrow of the mouse remained and everything I clicked on, as well as two fingers/output action zoom did nothing. Nothing does in Photoshop anyway.

Could someone please, please help me? I'm a photographer and I have a project due to my clients in the morning, and I can't afford this issue right now. I write this on my MB Air, which runs on CBS 10.11.13. I'm afraid to try an install of update on this one!

If nothing can help, can someone tell me how easy and on an empty stomach to downgrade to the previous version of El captain? Thanks a bunch!

There is no easy way to downgrade. He must erase the drive and then reinstall OS X. First, you need a good backup. Or you can try the following:

Try these in order to test your system after each see if it is back to normal:

    1. a. reset the PRAM and NVRAM on your Mac.

    b. Macs with Intel processors: reset of the controller (SMC) system management

    2. restart the computer in Safe Mode, and then restart again, normally. If this does not help, then:

Boot to HD recovery: restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and press and hold the

Command and R keys until that Menu Utility screen appears.

3 repair the hard disk and permissions: restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and hold down the command and R until the Menu Utility screen opens.

When the Utility menu, select disk utility, and then press the continue button. After loading disk utility select it

indented (in general, Macintosh HD) entry of the list to one side.  Click first aid button in the toolbar. Wait for the operation

is over, then quit disk utility and return in the Utility Menu.

4 download and install updated Combo OS X El Capitan 10.11.5.

5 reinstalling OS x: reboot of HD recovery Select reinstall OS X in the Utility Menu and click on the continue button.

  • Trackpad of MacBook Pro gets stuck and the screen freezes with pink and yellow lines

So I'm really frustrated. I got my Macbook pro less than a year ago and Ive already had to get a bunch of replaced parts. I got my computer fixed as 3-4 weeks ago and they had to replace a lot of things (can't remember not what it was, but they had to remove all of the computer and replace some things that have been associated with the battery power /). Recently my computer did this weird thing where the screen freezes and pixelated pink and yellow lines will take right on the screen. In addition, the trackpad will be just stuck and I have to turn off my computer and turn it back on so that everything works. Someone at - he heard about something like that? I thought that maybe when I had my computer repaired they didn't replace not all properly? I did a check of the hardware on my computer (self-control an Apple recommended prior to an appointment at the Genius Bar) and he said that everything was going well. This poll looks like a hardware problem? Could this be a virus? Someone hack into my computer? I don't know, I'm just worried and frustrated :/

    Thank you!

Photographing display abnormalities and make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  You are still in the warranty period and you have the properly repaired MBP.

    Ciao
