@Anuphp,

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forums. The only options that you have at this stage is to roll back the system until there are updates from Microsoft so that all bugs can be developed. Any time that an OS is out there is a period of growing pains that we all pass. Until there is full drivers listed on your system and Windows 10 HP support page, I would stick with what is shown under supported drivers and the operating system.
Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

  • HP G42: Windows 7 recovery discs

The hard drive on my laptop HP - G42-203US (Windows 7 Home) died.  I have data backed up to Carbonite, so this isn't a problem.  I did the recovery discs when I got to the computer, but for some reason, they do not work properly.  I need to get the HP recovery disks, but when I go to the HP support site location for order and enter my serial number, nothing happens.  Do you know if they continue to provide these or I'll have to find Wi! ndows 7 install disks.

    Thank you

    Hello

It doesn't seem to be a list for a g42-203us - is in fact, model number g42-230us?

If that is correct, it may be worth calling HP directly - see the link below - just in case where they still have these discs.

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/contact-HP/phone-assist.html#section1

If not, they can still be ordered from the 3rd re-seller part on the following link.

  • G42, windows does not

Well, then my laptop in question is a few years old. I had actually written off as dead and threw it into my closset since I had got a good deal and felt that I had great use out of it. But recently I started playing with computers, and I took, in fact, one out a pretty good Dv7 that I am confident will last me a good many years. However, given that I dug up my old laptop it was buggin me just what has happened to him so I started looking for answers online see if there was any chance to revive and perhaps do some updates to date and giving to a friend. But enough back story, you are probably wondering what is wrong with it if she's here,

One day, I tried to load it up, and it is simply projected black. I tried all day and never loaded on the right. That's when I just said screw it is dead, and rather than go to the geek team or a place like this, I decided to save time and just go do something to replace that would meet my needs. When loading, it displays the emblem of HP and starts TRYING to load windows. However, once he is out of the splash screen, it goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor that resembles the underscore. It of almost as if it is open a command prompt and waiting for me to tell him what to do. so I know that this is not the screen. The other strange thing about this, is that I can open the BIOS and some other stuff by pressing ESC. When he's in this HP screen. However, no matter what I do, even after having to play with the settings, it is the same black screen comand prompt.

I tried all the solutions I found online (now button, doing a factory reset etc.) but nothing to cause my computer to do anything other than that same black screen thing.

If it's important, all the lights in the keyboard work, a suggestion said to try using a different screen, I have, but this isn't even reprobed to be connected to the laptop. I have no idea what it could be short of something in my software being off. Anyway, any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

    Moreover, it's a laptop of G42 running windows 7 if it's important.

    Hello

It may be interesting to rebuild the boot configuration data - you can do the following.

Start from the rescue CD even once, select the command prompt, enter the following commands and press on enter after everyone – including spaces as shown.

    Bootrec.exe

    bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

    c:

    Boot CD

    BCD attrib s h - r

    Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

    Bootrec /RebuildBcd

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

Remove the rescue CD and try to restart the laptop.

  • Windows 7 turned off in my new computer

Hey there, hope you can help me with this one.

I had a Dell M5030 with Windows 7 preinstalled original. Then, I decided to spend its HARD drive to my HP G42 because I like this one better, but my Windows 7 has been disabled... Is there a way I could activate it again without having to buy a new product key?
My Windows 7 is activated when I used it on the original computer, which means Dell. But now that I use my Dell HARD drive on my HP G42, Windows 7 has been disabled.
    Thanks in advance.

  • HP g42-465la: basic setup windows home 7

    Hello

I want to format my computer, but I can't find the Windows 7 Home Basic Installer (who was my computer and I got the activation key), I want to know where I can download this?

    Thank you!

    Cintia

If you download Win7, you get probably a retail version - and that will NOT be activated on your PC because it is preinstalled with an OEM from HP version.  Best solution is to use the HP recovery media.  It is a set of disks which will erase the hard drive, reinstall the original OS and load the drivers and software HP.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem you face is that Microsoft provides only pilots with the most basic features and what you really need for these features is the specialized drivers written for the specific in your HP PC hardware - and unfortunately, there is no driver HP Win10 for your PC. HP only guarantees the compatibility of Win10 for machines manufactured after August 2013. HP is not no matter what timetable indicating when, or IF, they will produce drivers for older machines.

This means that your PC is probably NEVER going to be fully functional under Win10 because the drivers he needs for these features simply do not exist!

    Hi @HPIsha

I understand that you have performance problems with your laptop (speed, gels, etc.). I'm happy to help you with this.

I'd take a glance on the following pages; There will be an overlap between them, but each is useful.

Some software Applications may cause Windows to start or run slowly

Windows 7 stops responding or becomes very slow after you connect to the Internet

Set the performance of the slow system (Windows 7)

It is possible that it could also be a hardware problem, but it is most likely too much software, loading or running in the background and thus more taxing your processor. These pages can help with this and other common causes such as malware and other cousins of software.

Try these first, because these solutions are free. When it comes to hardware such as memory upgrades, you need to get the memory to do the upgrade, and it must be of the correct type to be usable.

You can check this link for the Service Manual: Compaq Presario CQ42 Notebook PC and PC portable HP G42 - Maintenance and Service of Guide. In it, you will see the type and compatible variety.

    I hope this helps.

I have a laptop HP, model G42-303DX, running Windows 7.

When Windows tries to start, it displays the message: Windows Error Recovery / cannot start Windows.

Then StartUpRepair launches and research about a minute for the problems.  Then it displays the message "Startup Repair cannot fix automatically.  I gave options: (1) sending info (can not since I can't it connect to the Internet) or (2) not to send (should I select).

I tried to do five different restorations, starting with the most recent restore point and working up.  All restore attempts failed.  In 3 of 5 attempts, I got the error code: 0x800700b7.  And in 2 of 5 attempts was the failure code: 0x8000ffff.

I created a bootable (Kaspersky Rescue v10) DVD rescue disk and run a deep scan of 4 hours to check the virus, Trojans, etc, and it found nothing.

When this laptop was purchased from Best Buys, we have not all discs.  I'm sorry to say that we did not create recovery disc.  I checked on the HP support site to order a set of recovery discs and can be found only for Windows 7 in the 64-bit version.  I don't know if this PC has been configured as a 32-bit or 64-bit machine.

In addition, I use the Recovery Manager to create DVDs from backup files on that PC.  This problem started in December, and according to my daughter-in-law (the only user of that PC), it gave him no problems until this.

I would REALLY appreciate any help on this... I'm a little at my wits end.

  • G42 - 490 YOU: what changes can I see or wait until after the upgrade of RAM?

    Hello

My PC model # is G42-490TU, processor - Intel Core (TM) i3 CPU M370,
RAM: 6.00 GB (2.93 usable), System Type: 32-bit operating system.

I've recently upgraded RAM 2.00 GB to 6,00 GB with 2.93 GB usable, that's what it shows.

I want to know if this 2.93 GB of 6,00 GB usable the correct value of the memory that is made available?

Also, I want to know what changes can I see or wait after upgrading the RAM from 2.00 to 6.00 GB where 2.93 GB is usable? How does this improve the effectiveness of my PC? Is there something that needs to be done on my own apart from adding the RAM to increase performance and the maintenance of my PC?

    Thank you best regards &,.

    Isha

The problem is the operating system of your laptop is 32-bit.

A 32-bit operating system can use @ 3.25 GB installed memory.

Install additional 4 GB to a laptop that had 2 GB was a regrettable mistake.

As long as the 4 GB memory module you have is compatible, you'd better remove the 2 GB module and put the 4 GB module in its place.

You won't find a lot of improvement with the current configuration of a 2 GB module and a 4 GB module. With this memory configuration does not work in dual channel mode.  You would be better with two modules of 4 GB, but this is only if you upgrade your operating system to a 64-bit version.

In fact, you would have improved if your OS is 64-bit. A 64-bit Windows operating system will recognize and use the installed memory.

If you really want to improve the performance of the laptop, you should consider upgrading to a SATA SSD 256 GB drive at least.
