Good day and welcome to the community.

    Sorry, you have problems.

Information about passwords at the level of the system, who is authorized in the community, can be found on pages 34 to 36 of the hardware manual: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/43y6762_03.pdf

The key is that there is no work around for a forgotten password or unknown supervisor. This situation requires a replacement of the system board.

    Kind regards.

  • HP ProBook 6440 b: BIOS/CMOS admin password

Installing windows 7 Professional, I discovered that I couldn't get into the BIOS or because it was the password for protected configuration. I tried a number of things, including the installation of HP ProtectTools Security stuff and it seems that everything what has done is to create several connection passwords. I can now in the program installation, but as a user, but not as an administrator, and so I can not change password. There is also another screen that shows where I have to enter a password and I don't know if what is happening due to the HP protect tools that I installed and then removed, or something in the BIOS. I uninstalled HP protect tools and reinstall windows 7 and I see still two password screens. I tried to update the BIOS by using a file downloaded from the HP Web site, but can not because I do not know the admin for access to the BIOS password.

    @brublag

Contact HP and they should be able to send you a file custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

    http://welcome.HP.com/country/W1/en/contact_us.html

When you talk to the HP rep ask them to increase your service request.

    Or download these files.

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zu4kdgxm052l87d/AAAMi-kfX4AVH8oTCbsOM4X9a?DL=0

Insert a clean USB flash drive.

    Then run USB Image tool.

Choose the flash drive, and then click RESTORE.

Remove the flash drive after the restore.

Insert a locked in a portable flash drive and boot. "If the HARD drive is installed remove before start".

At C:\OUTPUT, type CD...  "And then press ENTER.

HPBR of type "and then press ENTER.

First thing is to save your settings.

    Select 3 # re-program.

Press "S" to save the system information.

    Type HPBR and press ENTER.

    Select 'of FIRST BROADCAST.

    Then select the model.

After the restart to repeat, same as above but this time SELECT 'SECOND RUN.

Some instructions here. "If you can't boot from USB there are instructions for making a bootable HARD drive."

  • Lost Admin password

    Nice day

I'm trying to do a factory restore on your laptop model HP-g011ca running Windows 8.1 and the admin password has been lost. Let contact me. The system has been set up by someone who had no idea how to make an installation program and do not bother to read none of the screens through the installation program

This model comes with a 1.8 GB restore partition.

I was wondering if I can remove the hard drive and delete the Windows folder (or all folders), I would be able to do a restore of the system from the recovery partition?

If so, what would be the steps?

Oh... If there is an easier way to do this, I would like to know.

    Thank you all

Provost thanks... I understand your reasoning behind not providing a tutorial...

I'll give a try to the F11 key when I get home later today.

Another question for you, if I boot to the command prompt and go to "D", I can run recovery from there.

    Thanks again

    Don

"Another question for you, if I boot to the command prompt and go to"D", can I run the recovery from there."

No.  The recovery partition is not default bootable. If you play with or modify files within the partition, it will work as expected.

You can use a live bootable Linux usb to access GParted and assign to the active recovery partition. Once it's done, you can leave Linux (I use Ubuntu) and then restart your laptop. It should boot straight into the Recovery Manager.

  • Lost admin privileges

    De :  Richard

I am running Vista Ultimate on a Dell XPS laptop. I seem to have lost (my own PC, no other account) administrator privileges. All functions with the shield of little beside them seem to be disabled. For example, I can change the image associated with my account not the name, cannot manage other accounts and can not turn off UAC.

Everything was OK for a few months, but then I had a series of questions that may or may not be connected.

First Sotware Apple update has stopped being able to automatic update software. He would warn me, but I'll be back on the decision to proceed with the download of the program myself to update available screen. I could download and install the software in hand and iTunes isn't mission critical if it wasn't much.

Then Windows Update started having problems. I am informed of updates and once that I ask him to install it comes back immediately with an obscure error code that does not come to the top with an update failed message and error code 800401E4.

Cannot get anything useful from Google and MS Support (free for service Pack1 which I think could have directly behind the issue) have been of no use. They tried to rename some of the software download directories (c:\windows\system32\catroot? and another) who seems to force Windows Update to reassess what has been installed, but still gave the same question once you try to install a hotfix.

I managed at least 1 occaision to download an update and install them manually. I'm also sure that at least one occaision he downloaded a update critical automagically from one day to the next day and installed itself.

These days, I noticed a couple of other questions that may or may not be connected. I think it is perhaps down to my user account lose admin rights and I don't know if it's behind the issues WU. I'm unable to create a new user or change my account or name of one of the functions with the shield of little beside them. I am also unable to change automatic update settings for example download and install automatically when I'm actually on the PC.

By clicking on one of these elements does absolutely nothing - no display on the screen of error/warning/attempt.

I don't know if these two things are related, but would obviously help in fixing either / both of them.

    Concerning

    De :  Mr. Arnold

What happens if you use this account? It always has full administrator rights.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-Windows-Vista/

If nothing else, you can use it to remove your another user/admin account.

  • Lost admin password, how to retrieve the current password to change it?

I forgot my Admin password, I connect on my laptop using the scanner print finger all the time and when I try to change the password for Admin it ask the password which I do not remember. How to retrieve the current password and change it in Windows 7 Home premium?

    It's a laptop Acer 5738 G

You can change your current password as follows:

    1. click on start.
    2. type the three letters cmd in the search box.
    3. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter
    4. click on "run as Administrator".
    5. type the following command and press ENTER after each:
    NET user "user %%nom" 123456

Now the password is 123456. While dealing with accounts and passwords: having a single admin account on a PC is about the same as having a unique key for your car. What happens if you lose? He lost? Break it? A robust Windows Setup requires at least the following:

    • Two admin accounts fully tested, with their passwords to record on paper.
    • A password key file. Click Start / Help, then search for help on "password". Follow the instructions to create a key on your USB flash drive file so that you'll never find yourself in this uncomfortable situation.

  • HP G62-b51EE bios update link is dead

I have a laptop G62-b51EE HP with the bios to version F.46. I'm now trying to update the bios to version F.47 from the ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52190.exelink, which is provided by this page template support ... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-96423-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en& = web.

Whenever I tried the link I found it dead and no way to download new version of bios claimed. HP deleted this file because it is unstable or contains errors? If so, why they leave his link in the support page.

    Thank you very much

    It's working now.
