G62-450SA: HDD Test failed

Hi, I did a test drive on my laptop and I get the following,

ID of the failure; OQF3OJ-5P17RL-XDO14j-6OQMO3

Product ID; XF483EA #ABU

I need to replace my hard drive?

Regards Shay

Hi Shay,

The code is a failed test drive HARD fast and would indicate that the drive is faulty / failed and must be replaced.

    Hello

I have laptop HP Pavilion G6-1203ey. After installing Windows (7 ultimate, 64-bit) and some drivers on this topic and after several reboots, it hung at the Windows logo and I had to power off with the power button / stop. Then after having turned it on, it gave me the opportunity to fix problems that impede it to start, there let him to restore the computer to a previous restore point and after a reboot, the windows worked again. After that, I decided to do a check of the hard drive just in case.

The hard drive self test ended up with a message: disk full 1 (305). Then, I installed an environment to help HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) and made the hard drive from there. I chose the full test options, but it ended quite quickly (in about 1 minute), with the following result:

    Test Drive: 1

    HDD SMART Check: PAST

    Hard drive short DST: FAILURE

    FAILURE ID: PTTU22-5T774L-MFPV4K - 60S 003

    A little more information:

The former owner told me that the original HARD drive was defective, reason for which he replaced with this last year. He said that other than that, no problems with the laptop. Windows works right now and this disc is quite new, so I expect no problems with it, but the results of the tests mentioned above seem to be disturbing. Is there a reason to worry?

    Thank you

    Hi Alnuir,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I read your post and looked into the ID of failure that you have published on the test runs DST failed. This error indicates a hard disk failure meaning that if it failed there could soon. If everything works I would be given for the backup of your data on a regular basis, just to be sure. You may have a local tech take a look at the hard drive to see how it is at the complete failure.

  • Pavilion dv6: I did now the hard drive on my HDD test failed and the pavilion dv6

The problem is that my laptop when I start it it takes like 10-15 minutes to load.

I see loading windows xp logo and then he is suspended for more then 10 minutes or more.

Now, I tried to do a test for the material. I turn on the laptop and click the F2 key and I entered the test screen of hp hardware. I moved start test drive hard and after 5-10 seconds or if stopped with a test failure:

That's what I see now on the screen of the laptop:

    Test Drive: 1

    INTELLIGENT control: PAST

    DST short: FAILURE

    FAILURE ID: 64WE1A-5BC7Q7-XD003F - 60Q 903

    PRODUCT ID: XE041EA #ABT

    Hard drive 1

    Edit:

I tried now all the other tests in the F2 screen, and they all went except the short DST hard drive that has failed.

Better to buy a new hard drive and replace it with this one and I install the new OS on it own?

    Test drive: FAILURE

Does that mean ID failure? I need to replace with a new hard drive? If so can I buy a new hard drive and replace it only with myself?

I did no other reviews but I want to first of all understand what it means to id of failure.

    Hello

The hard drive is faulty defiantly and Yes should not replace. Failure ID is given, so if your laptop is under warranty you can give this to HP and it will then allow you the replacement

Usually the instructions on how to replace the hard drive are in the manual of your computer that you will be able to get a copy on the HP site. You can also buy the HP installation media which will be operating system files on your for reinstall on the new hard drive.

303 error seems to indicate that the drive is defective and must be replaced - it is also compatible with your startup problem.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

  • Compaq presario v6000 v6409tu disk hard bios self-test fail

    Hello

Windows xp no my pc compaq v6000 not starting and bluescreen showed a couple of times. I ran the BIOS (phoenix) disk hard diagnosis and the test failed. When I opened my HDD I noticed green rust as deposits into the connector on the hard drive. After cleaning with a brush, computer loaded XP successfully. But an hour later, while I was surfing in mozilla suddenly the mouse pointer started late and showed computer blue screen saying that windows has been closed down to prevent damage.

I would be grateful if someone can tell me if it's a software problem or hard drive error. If I need to replace my hard drive, what are my options, for example. rpm, capacity, provider? Thank you.

The only way you could have rusted copper into the connector on the hard drive is if liquid got in there so I am reluctant to try to speculate how much damage has been done. I remove the hard drive and connect it to the outside to another computer and run chkdsk on it to see if the drive itself is bad. As long as there is a problem on the part of connector and the interface with the motherboard cannot really trust the onboard hard drive Diagnostics. You could also get an own another new hard drive adapter.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/new-Compaq-Presario-C700-F500-F700-V6000-SATA-laptop-hard-drive-connector-/161297513053?PT=US_Drive_Bay_Caddies & Hash = item258e14ba5d

If it does not turn on the hard drive is bad, you can replace it with any laptop SATA drive no more than 9.5 mm thick.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822145587

Above is a good thing. It is slim (7mm) but it will still go into the caddy and connect to the motherboard with the connecting piece. If the hard drive itself is always good, and you replace the connector piece but he always bluescreens, so I would not spend money on a new hard drive. I would say that there was damage to the motherboard.

  • SMART short test failed

Under hardware Maintence diagnosed and he tells me that the SMART short Test failed what it means and how to fix this

I think that trying to DEFRAGMENT a hard disk 'default' is the wrong thing to do.

Compare to the conduct of a dirt road with Bald tires - while the Bald tires may be OK on a dry, paved, road between them work "hard" will result in a failure of the tire.

Similarly, many files on the hard drive when it is expected to be soon to fail, is also a bad idea.

Any small computer boss store can sell you a hard drive brand new and may try to "clone" of 100% of the hard drive of the 'old' drive on 'new' disk

Price?  It depends on the capacity (250 GB? 500 GB? 1000GO? 2000 GB?).

About US $100, you will have a new disk drive with a capacity greater than your current drive.

Add $50 to $100 US for the technician:

    Open the computer case,

    * Check the physical size and the capacity of the old-disk drive, to recommend a "compatible" replacement

    * Fix temporarily the new discs,

    * run the software "-disk cloning."

    * delete the old records (and he will give it to you, so that you can literally hammer it, so that no one will ever be able to read one of your folders – think 'security'),

    * connect permanently the new disks.

    * close the computer case,

    * test it.

It also depends on the "age" of your computer.

If it is still running Windows XP or Windows Vista, it will be over ten years - REPLACE a computer of this type.

rather than spend more than US $150 to keep until something else died of "old age".

  • Satellite Pro A10 comes with: error IDE #0, PXE-E61media test failed

I recently bought a used Toshiba Satellite pro A10.
When I received it, it was working and being a noob I tried to install a network card and create a wireless network with my desktop using XP when it did not work I plugged my ethernet (from my desktop) cable on the laptop and flashed upwards with a small number can not? dll etc etc.

Now I unplugged the ethernet cable and when I try to boot my laptop it comes up with:

    "ERROR IDE #0".
    Intel (r) bootagent, FE v4.1.09
    Copyright 1997-2002 Intel Corp.
PXE - E61: Media test failed, check that the cables
PXE - M0F: Exit Intel Boot Agent
    Insert system disk in drive
    Press any key ".

    HI Tom,

The error message that you receive indicate that your laptop is trying to start the connection to the LAN rather than from his own hard drive or a CD-ROM. I suggest that you verify that the boot sequence is specified correctly in your BIOS, or alternatively, you can press F12 during your market and you should get the boot device menu sequence appears so that you can specify that you want to boot from your hard drive.

  • Pavilion Memory Test failed., ID 64W662-5066J2-XD7XGK-400V03 failure

Crash... The BIOS memory test passes, but the HP Diagnostic memory test fails with the ID 64W662-5066J2-XD7XGK-400V03 failure.  Product ID VM298UA #ABA.  Any ideas?

    Hello

    Try the following.

First, download the Memtest Image file (.) (ISO) on the following link.

    http://www.memtest.org/download/4.20/Memtest86+-4.20.ISO.zip

It is a zipped file, if you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.  Please note that If you have a 64-bit installation, download and install the Installer x 64 64-bit .msi on the link below.

    http://www.7-zip.org/

Then, right-click on the zipped file, select Extract 7 - Zip, select the files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted folder to find the Memtest Image.

Now, you will need to use an application like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank CD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.

When you created the CD, shut down the laptop.  Tap the escape key when you rewind to enter the Boot Menu.  Insert the Memtest CD.  Select 'Options of Boot' (usually f9), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER to boot from the disc.

At least 3-4 passes and see if errors are found.

  • Pavilion 2206TX: hard drive DST short test failed

Hard drive DST short test failed.

For a few days, my laptop is not starting.

Run the diagnostics showed "hard drive DST short test failed.

I removed the hard drive [brand Toshiba] and connected as an external drive to a Mac.

I am able to access your hard drive and copy some content from it. So, it looks like a problem with the hard drive.

Is this a problem with the connection of harrdisk to the motherboard or with the hard drive itself?

    Help, please.

    Hello

Yes, you can use your friend recovery media in your. It should work.

I'm not able to find a recovery media for your model of third-party vendors too.

No, you can't create USB recovery by plugging the old drive as external references to another PC. You have to use HP application recovery manager supplied with your laptop and create a set. I think that you will not be able to do from a failing drive.

  • Memory test failed w / Kingston 4 GB

I have a HP G42 - 461LA Notebook PC, and I added a 4 GB Kingston Ram memory (KVR1333D3S9 / 4g). I started to notice my laptop has been slow and has decided to conduct a Test of memory of the HP Diagnostic tools (F2).

It fails with this failure ID: U3439W-5HW70M-XD002K-40HU03

When I removed the memory stick and tried again he passed successfully.

The strange thing is that when it is installed it is recognized and it seems like it should work, but it is slow at the opening in a few tabs in the browser (most audio glitches), and the test fails.

    Hello

ID failure indicates that there is a problem with a memory, and must be replaced. This should be the cause of the issue of the slow-running also.

I suppose that there are two locations of memory for your computer.

You can try a memory at once and run the test or check the performance of the computer with a memory. Then, you will be able to isolate the faulty memory.

Sometimes it might be also the memory slot... so try a memory at a time in each slot in interchanging the. That will help you know if there is a problem with one of the slot.

You can refer to this link...

    The upgrade (RAM RAM)

    I hope this helps...

  • Operating system not found on Equium - PXE - E61:Media test failed

    Hi all

My daughter has a computer satellite laptop running XP.
However, the system does not start and the following messages:

PXE - test failed - check the cable for E61:Media
PXE - M0F: output of the PXE Rom
    Operating system not found

We do not have a disk operating system.

What is the problem and how can I do for her?

    Hello

For me, it seems that the HARD drive is dead and the laptop can not find the installed operating system.
In this case, he tried to boot from different sources and finally LAN.
But it does not and therefore, you get the PXE - E61:Media test failure error message.

In my opinion, the HARD disk needs to be replaced and the operating system must be installed again.

    See you soon

  • Memory test failed

    Hello

I use a laptop HP 1000. The default ram was 2GB but I added another 4 GB module in it. My laptop works quite normal, but it gives me the blue screen of death by practicing a particular game (League of Legends). I have no other than error, and it works fine. I decided to test my memory to the HP support (by pressing F2). I got the error of test with some ID of product failure.

So I ran Memtest86, there was no error proves Memtest86 in 1 pass. So I want to know that why HP test failed and Memtest86 gave me no errors.

    OPERATING SYSTEM: WINDOWS 7 64-BIT

    Thank you

    Ahmad Salmat

    Concerning
    Ahmad Salmat

I would say that confirms that the RAM module is defective.  This test is performed on the single 4 GB stick or the also installed 2GB stick?  If it was with the one 4 GB stick, then I would say that it is more than enough evidence to justify the Exchange store.  There is not much I can do from this end with a third of RAM.  You will need to contact the point of original purchase for an Exchange and explain tests memory failed (Memtest86 and HP).

    Let me know what happens.
