Game using Windows on an iMac

Hello

So I'm an avid player, but I have no experience with the game on a PC.

For the work of the related objectives that I have an iMac. On an iMac, the game is very limited and only a few titles can be played on Mac OS X. To resolve this problem, I think to buy windows and running it using boot camp. Now this is my dilemma.

First of all - what version of Windows buy while his main goal would be for the games? What version supports most of the games and is best for games?

Secondly - I try to play a lot of games using the machine to steam (from Valve). In the last valve told me that I wouldn't be able to use steam on my iMac, even when you run a Windows program via bootcamp. I would like to know if it's true? My computer meets all the requirements of all holders of steam games except for the fact that my OS is Mac OS X instead of a Windows operating system. My goal is to resolve this problem by installing a windows program, in which case, my computer would meet ALL the necessary conditions to play one of the games of Valve through steam. So, I still not able to play games using the steam engine?

Sincerely,
SE R.

Emerson,
If you use bootcamp and install Windows then the steam engine must be running.  Now the steam indicates that they do not support anything with bootcamp\Windows on Mac.

What version of Windows to get, where you can watch in the games you plan on playing.  Even if the games are installed or launched via Steam, each game has its own configuration.  Then you can get games to see which version of Windows they are compatible with.

  • Can't sign in to games for windows marketplace using windows live id error: 80048439

    The problem:

I bought a game a few days ago, but cannot sign in to games for windows marketplace. I try to connect using the GOOD live ID and the password that I used when buying this game on the website (it works when signing on my live account on internet and on this forum). A few seconds later, he says:

"Unable to connect. ID Windows Live ID or the password entered is not valid. Enter your information and you reconnect. "error: 80048439 cannot authenticate.

I tried several fixes that are found on the pages of support for games for windows live.

    I have reset my password

I deleted all my cookies, cache files and internet (several times)

When I try to connect to live in the game (using a steam game) I can't connect either.

I looked in the port forwarding, but there is no explanation on how to do it on my router (actiontec q1000). I don't know if the port is the problem or what. It is not a new modem, and it worked a few months ago.

I used gfw live years and had no problems until now and I swear that I use the password and login name.

Any info I can get to solve this problem is appreciated.

You can try to perform the clean boot on your computer and check if that helps.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

  • Cannot use Windows Update, firewall, Live games. Suspects of virus?

    Hello

I am currently using an Alienware M17x and there are a few problems.

Recently, I downloaded a game requiring a signature in Windows Live games and order I had to update the client. However, Games for Windows Live could not update and gave me an error code of 0 x 80070424. I also got this same error code when I tried to turn on the firewall in pressinng the button "Use recommended settings" in the control panel > system and security > Windows Firewall page.

I then tried to manually install the Games for Windows Live client, but he couldn't do it because 'a required Windows component is disabled on your machine. I checked the fix for this problem in the Microsoft Web site, and he asked me to locate the "Background Intelligence Transfer Service' in my services, which has proven to be missing. Also, the automatic update service disappeared.

Another problem that I recently noticed was that audio files randomly the movies will begin playing while my computer is running. I first thought that it was a website or popup while I was surfing the net, but I closed all the programs I was running, and the noise continued to play. Goose bumps...

I did some reading, and the closest thing I can relate to this is the Conficker Virus, but I hope that it is something more easy to remove...

Any help is greatly appreciated, because this virus seems to be the stubborn type!

You may need to restore the factory settings, so be sure to back up any data you want to save while you still can.  In the meantime, here are some things you can try.

Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

    -

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

    -

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

    `

When you get your system in good working condition, I invite you to back up your system up to an external hard drive and make it regular periodic updates.

  • Running under Windows 98 / ME / 95 games on Windows 7

In the past, I often ran the older games using the DOSBox emulator. I never understood much about mechanics. I thought that this emulator has allowed me to run games written for the treatment of the different bits, such as 8-bit or 16-bit on systems which normally treatment with Setup 32-bit or 64-bit files.

My question is this - if a game says it is written for Windows 98/ME/95, but does not specify the size of bits for the treatment, will it still work on Windows 7 with DOSBox?

    MattSA

In an ideal world XP Mode in Win7 installation should work.  When we consider that Microsoft it is mocked as a point of sale real it me nauseated.

Unfortunately, it is not an ideal situation or an ideal world.  I also once I have thought Win7 Pro (wow, Id love to play some of my old games [which I have hundreds] master of orion ii and just all kinds of other) as ok I'll divy upward of my readers install win7, set up my dual boot, install slackware (as I have no program or do the processing in windows than in * nix). then go back and install xp mode and then install some of my games (brain drool).  bad...

you see xp mode in Windows 7, unless you use another virtualization product or use virtual pc and install xp... does not include the support of directx which I discovered to my dismay total. so when you go to install programs or run your video and sound card drivers do not work.  now, if your program doesn't use DirectX (maybe it uses opengl or something) you might have a chance.

you stand a better chance with dosbox in victory or one of the emus back several Linux at least those who have been proven to work with a lot of games of this 'time '.  I feel that Microsoft has been very short sessions of R & D for the xp mode cooking upwards.  "lets give them the feel of xp but with only half of the feature where ONLY MS products will work and perhaps some 3rd party applications" they do not allow the idea to evolve as you see as many users at home such as myself do not work on their machines (a writing, mix and record music from home on my machine) when the working day is over I like to play the games and I'm not in the minority in this light.  Finally, there is freeware (as mentioned by myself and others) solutions allow you to heal that envy for your old skool gameage without having to sort through the lame idea of microsoft virtualization.  seriously, I can boot linux (totally free) loading WINE install a xp or 95, time 98 game and run it in 1/16th time you need install xp mode and do not have to set at 1 penny to do

  • Age of Empires 2 cannot host the game with Windows 7, Server networking DirectPlay

I recently installed Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion on Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 at home.

This game does not work on Windows 7 with some work. First color is screwed up because it runs using 256 colors. Killing the task of 'explorer' in the Task Manager, while the game is running fixed that.

My new problem is that I can't host a game in network on Windows 7. I've done some packet sniffing and I think it has to do with Directplay Server does not properly.

    According to Wikipedia

    • In Windows Vista , DirectPlay has been deprecated and DirectPlay Voice and NAT Helper of DirectPlay have been removed.

I can join Games hosted on a Windows XP with Windows 7 machine, but I'm not able to host my own games.

At work, we all use Windows 7 to play after hours is not possible because we do not have an XP machine to host the game.

How can I me Directplay specifically Directplay Server run on Windows 7?

I tried AOE2 running in Compatibility Mode for XP SP2 as it as an administrator.

    Kind regards

    Joey

If, after upgrading two machines Windows 7 Beta to Windows 7 Professional Retail, I managed to get the machines to see after turning off UPnP on the router. I guess AOE2 is the ad itself and the router it's treat as UPnP.

  • ID of product required for games for Windows Live. Need some answers, please.

Well, it's more a question of both parties.

    1. How can I recover my product ID for a game, I bought and installed on Windows Live, if I lost the manual with the ID?

    2. If this is not possible, then why is it an obligation to enter the product ID to be able to save the game?

If the answer is something like "privacy... mackmackmackmack. ", then of course, I get it - BUT...

who are we, people who legitimately buy the game?

you need to install some 3rd party games on windows live and demand the product ID... do you think that you should then be responsible for the maintenance of this record?

To answer the question on the entry of the product key, which is to prevent piracy of software for most (let's call security if you wish).  To be honest, it is not for lack of Microsoft that you have lost the code.  I don't know any way to get it back (I have the Vista code if it was still installed on the system - but not for each installed software).  What is a Microsoft game?  I didn't know this applies to 3 rd party software are well - I'm a little surprised, but it is not quite incomprehensible.

  • Error with controls on Halo 2 PC using windows 7

I recently bought halo 2 for the pc, but also a controller wired xbox 360. I installed all the drivers for the controller and installed the game fully before playing. When I play the game with the controller of my line of sight will pass rapidly around on the screen. So I'm going to aim a direction enemy will jump so I'll look at the ceiling then I'll try to bring back downstairs and he'll jump so I'm looking at the floor. It will be then an epileptic seizure for about 5 minutes with the screen jump around. I played with the controller on other games for windows and it works fine. Ive even reinstalled the game. When I try to play with the mouse and move it from one side of the button to another, the line of sight moves on a centimeter across the screen and then flashing shaking the screen crazily so it leads me to believe the game has problems. My computer is running Windows 7 64-bit, Nvidia GTX 275, 965 black edition AMD Phenom ii x 4 and 4 GB of ram. My basic question is is this a problem of software with the game and I should take it back?

  • Games for windows live cannot connect

Games for windows live cannot connect to the internet, this problem started last week when I tried to play Dawn of war 2 online. At that time I was running Vista Ultimate 64 bit and after exhausting all existing boards on this site and many others, I decided to completely format my PC and start again with Windows 7 64 bit, but I have the same problem exact. only now my profile is no longer stored on my PC because I formatted so I can still play offline.

After trying to connect, it says "the profile could not be connected to LIVE. "There may be a network problem or the Windows Live ID service may not be available" option on the GFWL client network status says:

    NIC: Local 2 network connection

    Internet IP address: not connected

    Local IP address: 192.168.2.9:0

    System link address: 192.168.2.9:3074

    Account PC: PC.000000000000

    UPnP: Not signed in

    PC ID: 0X10DF99910D0A00E8

I have made the following recommended to others in similar situations, has passed all the recommended ports (TCP 53,80,443,3074) and UDP 53,88,3074, installed and running Windows fix it, Microsoft.Net 4.0 update, installed and run Winsockfix, disabled windows firewall (I have not installed any other protection software yet) compatible UPnP on my router, changed my static connection type and still no progress. My router is supported and I am in a country supported direct (UK). This my independent being, but I also experience certificate errors when you use Microsoft sites, which is strange as I said that the Web site of the company that developed the program that I use is dangerous. It's my totally finished in guys any help would REALLY be apreciated. Cheers.

I can't believe ive finally resolved, hours after validation. the button on my motherboard battery had been dislodged and my date and time have been reset in 2009, whenever I stop my PC. everything is working fine now GFWL working and no more certificate errors.
