Get a hardware trigger on the regeneration of the buffer

Hi all

Is there a simple way to get a hardware trigger when AO regenerates a buffer for continuous generation?

I use NI PCI-6733.

Thank you

Michael

Hi Michael,

I think it would be the easiest way to use your meter to generate a pulse train that uses the sample AO as its source clock. If you know the number of samples that are in your FIFO, you can specify how many samples to make this high pulse and how to make it low so that the total adds to the top to be equal the number of samples you have in your buffer. Here's a good intro bit to generate a train of pulses with a meter. You can also consult the user manual to the 6733 for more information on the functioning of your meter.

  • How can I capture a hardware trigger (5.76 V, wide 25ns) and allows to trigger something else in LabView

    Hello

I'm trying to synchronize data between two different instruments using LabView.

A single instrument will work regardless (it can be integrated with LabVIew for various reasons) and the synchronization signal of this instrument, which I want to use (5.76 square pulse, 25 ns wide V, occurs aperiodically) is "extracted" (I made a breakout box and have the synchronization signal on a coaxial cable that I can plug into anything).

I want to take this synchronization signal and use it to trigger an event in LabView (the second instrument is controlled with LabView).

I had hoped that a USB 6501 would be able to go around, but I realize now that he can't see a signal that is so short (I think).

So, what should I do? How can I make LabView 'see' a such narrow pulse and use it to trigger an event?

    In summary:

    • Have digital signals from a piece of hardware on a coaxial cable - 5.76 V rectangular pulse, wide 25ns, occurs randomly nut not more often than every ms
    • Want to get the digital signal into my PC and LabView where I use this signal to trigger an event (in this case, to start an event of data acquisition on a different piece of hardware that is controlled with LabView)
    • I'm using LabView 2013 64 bit, Windows 7 x 64
    • I was hoping to use NI USB 6501, but I'm not sure it's possible, given that the impulse is so narrow
    • Picture of the sync signal as seen on a scope is attached (note there is a tiny little ring that will not present when I fix the cable)

    Thank you

    Hello

You could use a flip flop to intercept the signal. Do not attach the pulse but the front. You can read the regular output of the scale with any hardware DAQ (digital or analog) and use the same DAQ hardware to reset the flip-flop.

  • PXI-4071 sampling too slow when using a hardware trigger

We use 3 PXI - 4071 s in parallel to measure with accuracy of high voltages. The program is written using LabVIEW 8.5.1.

An additional test condition has been added which requires the use of a quadrature decoder and the synchronous DMM.

We thought it would be simple, using backplane trigger 0.

    However, something odd happens.

With a low-cut VI that uses a single DMM, we get 100 microseconds time to sample running with internal triggers. However, if the overall relaxation or trigger of the sample is set to TTL0, the sample time becomes so 5.1 milliseconds. It seems very strange that even just definition of overall relaxation, expected to affect only the time of the first sample, not the time between samples, has that effect. The plug for the DMM also said, that the maximum trigger rate is of 6 kHz.

We have confirmed this reported sample time is independent of the speed of the clock actually connected to TTL0. If the clock is faster, it gets the reported sample time. If it's slower, the samples occur on the edges of the clock.

Does anyone know if there is a parameter that has a default that changes based on the source of command and can be changed to work around this problem, you?

I found the solution to this.

Over time the value-1, the DMM uses a short value (less than 100 US) to set hour when, in modes triggered internally. However, he used much longer (about 5 ms) when the value - 1 and with the help of a hardware trigger.

If the running-in is set to 1e-5, i.e. 10 microseconds, "the estimate" returned for conversion period goes from 5.1 ms 100, we and conversions actually occur at a rate set when clocked with trig 0-5 kHz

  • DAQ trigger on-the-fly reconfiguration

    Hello

What is the correct way to reconfigure a data acquisition on the fly?

    Every 100 s I'm doing a 2000 point 4-channel triggered acquisition (sampling rate 50000)

As a function of household, that I also want to monitor the voltage of one of the channels so that every 2 s, I do a single-point acquisition no trigger.

Since I don't have access to a piece of the DAQ hardware, that I have to share channels between the two tasks of reconfiguration on the fly.

(the program is too big / complex to post sorry)

Initialize channels and relaxation (happens once at the beginning of the program):

    Get data every 100 s:

Each 2 s get one sample of multichannel without triggering then restore the trigger:

Please could someone explain when I have to use the 'task to start', 'stop task' and 'commit' aid is rather vague and unfortunately I find myself 'hacking' until it works, which is not the way I like to work! I use a USB-6211.

The above program works OK, but has an intermittent (approx. every 10mins) error on the 'shutdown task"before returning to the trigger. (memory, the description was 'Task not over data acquisition')

  • After modification of the material or adding hardware: will be the key to license still work?

Hello. I have a dvd of Windows XP SP3. I was wondering what material I can add in the machine. Is there a limit? I would keep the motherboard.

What I know or I was told when I called Microsoft sales at 1-800-426-9400 licenses: when I add/edit I think it's 3 or 4 pieces of hardware - Windows will ask me to re - install XP. I then do the updates again until the most recent date. I have to re - install my malware and programs again, etc. Is there a limit to the additions? Because the rep said the license key is not valid, and I have to call Microsoft to set up again to $10 and the tax. She did her better with me, but maybe thought that I meant an upgrade I'll mention below. My motherboard has 5 hard drives, 3 more hardware pieces at the front, 1 Pcie x 16, 1 Pcie x 1, 2 Pci. In theory: if I added all this stuff here, XP would work or do I have to call Microsoft? Is this considered a reclamation system and my product key will work?

I asked if there was a limit of CPU?  I was told there are 2 changes: the rep said there is no limit.

I saw on a website a video explaining how to change your hard drive on a Flash drive. If I change the HARD disk to another HARD disk or drive of Flashhard in my copy of Windows Office work? Another version (Vista or 7)? What if I changed everything, as in my above question/example? This would apply to a laptop? (In the video, it was for a laptop). Or should I contact the manufacturer of my laptop and ask? Can there be a driver problem?

If I had to install a XP to Vista or a Vista upgrade to Windows 7 upgrade when it's compatible version: should I clean just install the upgrade? Or reinstall the original and then pure install the upgrade? Do I need the original updates to install upgrades? I'm under the impression just do a clean install and its good to go. But: If I've changed some hard-ware with the original OS, has been invited to re - install, validate the copy I have - so should I clean install upgrade? And I can do any hard-ware adds or changes later with the upgrade versions? The representative said no, validation would jump to the top explaining that the key doesn't work anymore.

If I installed an upgrade to an existing operating system and there was a problem for me to have to re - install the OS upgrade: How can I do this? Woud I first install the original? I have to validate this OS? Then the upgrade? Or just pop in the dvd upgrade and it should install as a full version? The rep told me on the phone that a message saying: I can't use that key, I'll have to call the get that he regenerated for $10 and the tax. What happens if I had to re - install and I used something like Norton Ghost? I can re - apply my disk image?

If someone had a motherboard with multiple sockets for processors (say two proessors can go there): can they change the processors? One or both? Maybe I've misunderstood this concept well.

So just the product key? with the reactivation...?

But is there a limit to how much I can add to internal?

What switch the hard disk of laptop or desktop (in case of failure or a newer more/better).

In the case of the OEM licenses, the license is valid only on the motherboard original (except in certain circumstances) - almost everything is up for grabs.
In the case of retail licenses, everything is up for grabs :)

I had a system that I built in 2002. He went through two motherboards, three (or was it 4?) processors, at least 5 hard drives and a variety of expansion cards up to what I finally put to rest a few months ago - I have never had to reinstall except when changing motherboards, due to the incompatibility between chipsets. The reason for which I put to rest was simple - I wanted to change was the case - and the motherboard in the cracking process. I'm saving for a new capable of running Win7 64 bit :)

The laptop that I'm writing this on is due for a new HD - when I'm close to it (he is sitting on the table) - because the old man is too small. I'll just copy the complete installation through a new, plug it in and I'm leaving - at least in theory.

  • Can I get a customizable M400 outside the us. ?

Hi everyone, this is my first time on the forum, so please be nice :-)

I was wondering if there is the customizable version the Portege M400 in Europe? I was excited about the options available on the Web of Toshiba USA website and then very disappointed when the European site only gives details about the standard configuration and gave no still no indication that there is no option to customize. Is - it deliberate and if so someone has suggestions on how to get hold of a fully custom-specced M400 to the United Kingdom? I really don't want to risk having to buy one of the USA and have it sent on the spot I want just to get the M400.

For any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Pete

I found some info for you and I hope you can help. Portege M400 is available in Europe and also with a few different hardware configurations.
The set comes with two processors Intel Core Duo (Yonah), Intel Core Solo (Yonah), with two-speed of 1.66 GHz, 1.83 GHz.

Unit has 512 or 1024 MB of RAM. As an option you can choose between several hard disks (60 GB, 80 GB, 100 GB, 120 GB). In my opinion, you should contact your local UK Garage or Toshiba directly and order the notebook with the hardware configuration that you prefer. If you live in Europe I recommend to buy the European model.

If you need more info on material expansion or something else, please write again.

    Good luck!

  • HSDIO trigger for the transmitted waveform record

I use a card OR-6552 (actually this system eventually will use 7, so I'll try to get my head wrapped around the trigger events).

I use dynamic generation to generate a binary pattern on the pins 0-15.

I'm tracking the trigger from start to RTSI6.

    I use a software trigger.

On the side of the reading, I use a dynamic Acquisition.  The start trigger is triggered off the coast of RTSI6.

Everything works exactly as it is supposed to. I get the binary model, BUT

The read function is advanced clock EXACTLY 50 cycles.  So, I get a '0' reading the lines of channel for 50 cycles before the binary sequence appears in my wave of reading.

I suspected that it has anything to do with the outbreak of the reference, so I tried to define the source of command reference for RTSI6 also, with delay sample 0, and I get a timeout.

I'm so close, but I would like to know why I'm getting a pre-roll buffer 50 cycle even if I did not specify...

    CCITest,

If you are looking to synchronize several 6552 juries, you will want to use TCLK.   NEITHER TCLK is the synchronization scheme products Memory Core (SMC)-based and integrated with National Instruments synchronization.  More information about the details behind this technology can be found in the help HSDIO document (start > programs > National Instruments > NOR-HSDIO > Documentation > NI Digital Waveform Generator-Analyzer Help).  Inside of this help document, a good starting point is the title of programming > references > NOR-TClk synchronization help > preview OR-TClk.

NOR-TClk will allow you to start several cards at the same time.  Leave your post I don't know if you are using a card PCI-6552 or PXI-6552 module, however when you use a version PCI RTSI cable allows up to 5 tips be connected.  Using PXI, you can fill the frame and synchronize your 7 boards.  There are several examples that show how to use NOR-TClk.  These examples can be found under start > programs > National Instruments > NOR-HSDIO > example.  Then choose your preferred language and select synchronization.llb or the sync folder.

  • Trigger on the first attempt

I'd like some help / advice on my LabView program (attached) please. In the VI, the MyVoltageTask_1 is configured as a voltage signal corresponding to a pressure change inside an enclosed cylinder. The signal is transmitted to the BNC 2110 DAQ board / PCI 6133 DAQ card via a differential pressure transducer.

Ideally, the program should trigger as soon as I let air into the cylinder and start acquiring data, and stop as soon as its done. However, LabView does not trigger when I let the air into the cylinder on the first attempt, but if I exhaust the air and let it in again a second time, the program triggers and I can see a graph of the pressure trace. Please let me know if there is something I should / could change in the program to have the program trigger on the first attempt. Thanks!

  • go DC for analog generation with hardware trigger

Hi, I would do the following:

-Together a terminal to user defined voltage CC

-Switch to waveform base voltage generated when a hardware trigger is received

Is it possible to do this with a multifunction DAQ card? I have the impression that seitching of the DC to waveform generation can be done in software. This would lead to some downtime. How long will the dead time? The voltage will be stable over this time?

    All comments welcome

    Hello Dixie,

See screenshot of the joint, this could be an option. First of all, you can do a DAQmx task that allows you to send a continuous tension, when you disable directly task the DC output will remain at the level you selected before. Then you create a task DAQmx will send a wave form and waiting for a trigger to do. The output will be at the DC level until there is a trigger so the waveform will be produced.

  • The original loop iteration after receiving the trigger of the PXI-6652 pulse

    Hello world

I apologize if this has been answered somewhere else, but I'm having a hard time finding examples and tired after a long day of work.

in any case, I use a PXI chassis with a PXI-7854R FPGA Board and module synchronization PXI-6652.  I have the FPGA biphasic pulses being generated at 8 analog channels.  I want to be able to do is to send a trigger (say at 1 Hz) for the PXI-6652, which begins at the exit of the biphasic pulse on the FPGA.  I'm running the FPGA through a host program as the variables on biphasic wave will change based on the current experience.

So, in short, I was wondering how to generate a trigger of the PXI-6652 pulse and then use this trigger in a host of VI to start an iteration of a loop.  It seems simple enough, so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you, and I can post the code tomorrow if necessary.

To answer your second question, Yes, the driver NOR-SYNC 3.3 is available for download and use with LabVIEW 2011.

As far as use the PXI-6652 to start the acquisition on an FPGA VI, we have enough good examples provided with LabVIEW that will show you how to proceed.  To actually generate a trigger with NO-Sync, there are several examples in the Finder for example of NOR (help > find examples) which send a trigger one of the PFI lines to be used with the other modules.  You can search for OR Sync and they all appear here.  You need this driver installed first before you see anything, however.

Also, if you look through the viewfinder of the example under Hardware Input and Output > R Series > FPGA Fundamentals > triggers and guard dog, you will find an example of triggering good enough it for use in your FPGA code.

This example uses NO-Sync to trigger a device of the M series, which is not relevant to what you are doing (he uses DAQmx), but there is a very good example of generation OR-Sync trigger here who I think can help.
