Global storage settings

Using Firefox on XP Pro machine, I put my settings from Global Storage to not allow third-party Flash content to be stored on my computer and not to store common Flash components. Why these settings back 'on their own' even within a single session? Also, how can I prevent Flash Cookies?

Thank you!

Hi, you can be sure that CC Flash. Well, I know that FF is a plugin/addon/extension(not sure which) called Better Privacy that does this. If I remember correctly, you can select the sites you want to have cookies.

As far as I know is not something like that for IE, or at least that I have heard of. Now, IE9 has a new feature called Tracking protection which I think can do what you want to do. And yes I know that IE9 is not available for XP, because I use XP :-)

IE8 Private Browsing and some other features that are not IE6/IE7, then you want to check out these features. If they have something to do with cookies, I don't know.

In IE > tools > Internet Options under the Privacy tab, check your cookie settings there. Perhaps an adjustment can be made.

If someone is tracking my work computer, all they get is my notifications by e-mail of the Flash Player Forum and the Forum of Flash Player :-) They probably just gave up and stopped followed me, ha - ha

  • Update and global storage settings

First of all, my apologies for the ridiculously long user name. I played the keyboard in back of weeks of frustration when recording and were not in position to change it by updating my Adobe a/c, because it won't let me put an address etc. that is not in the USA (I'm in Australia).

I tried to find an answer to my question in reading the other messages. There seems to be some very similar problems with the last update for Flash Player, but because of my lack of expertise in this area, I will describe my specific problem. So, here it is:

I was locked out the function edit of my website host (wix.com) account because it forces me to update my Flash Player settings: http://support.wix.com/index.php/Editor_Doesnt_Open

I downloaded the latest version of Flash a half dozen times now and installed. Installation always seems to be fine and no error message is high. The problem is that the updated version does not appear to have himself installed in one of my web browsers.

The Flash Player Settings Manager (access c /-link above) is not even display in Firefox. It appears in Google Chrome (which is up to date and my default browser), IE and Safari.

In order to access the edit to my a/c host function, I need (in the global storage settings) to have 100 KB on disk space slider, and also the check box for «Allow third-party content flash...» »

The box allow not itself be checked in one of the browsers above, even if I can move the slider to 100 KB. If, however, I leave the page and return later, the cursor is always back to 'None' (I don't know if this is normal or not?).

I have AVG anti-virus, which I tried to temporarily disable all by installing the update. I also rebooted my computer after installation, etc. but still no luck. Hopefully someone who has an idea can get back to me. Thank you.

Hi thanks. Yes, the settings should stay that way until you change them.

    See if that helps.

  • Global security settings?

    Hello

I get the message "Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager - global settings of security" on a few sites of my client. I develop in Flash MX.

Is there a way to avoid having this message pop up?

Is it something I am doing everything by creating the FLA/SWF or is it a setting/flash browser player put on the end of the user?

I guess my ultimate question is:

Is it possible, while I am in Flash, create the application, allows to define a framework or incorporate a certain script that does not display this message?

  • storage settings back to zero

My flash drive for storage keep returning to zero

Yes, that's intentional.  We respect the feature remove Cookies from your browser and also clear Flash local stored objects.  Because we store information about sites on a per-domain basis, preference files are effectively fleeing know where you've been, so they have to go.

In my opinion, all of these things is not relevant at this stage.  Tracking technology is happening aside the client and the server and controlling the LSO for privacy is not buy you much and at a time when 1 TB HDDs are stupid cheap disk storage controls and their increases are (10K, 100K, unlimited!).

All these things were designed before the private browsing session / Incognito Modes were available in the major browsers.  Now you can simply activate those, allow sites Web store anything they want without degrading your user experience, and when you leave the private browsing mode, all this information is blown away (it has been stored in a temporary location when in private browsing mode).  He still isn't a perfect privacy either solution, but it mitigates all vectors (of which there are many), as well as the Flash stored local objects of monitoring the HTML5.

    There is a context here:

Stealth Web tracking tools pose growing risks of privacy to users | Computerworld

Anyway, these dialog boxes are not good.  We are well aware of the problem, but there are some intractable problems unique to a process that is hosted within a browser which makes it difficult to distinguish the clicks are 'real' or if dialog boxes or are hidden (see: Clickjacking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).  They are tiny, because they date back to a time when VGA was a relevant display size.  This is an issue that is definitely on our radar, and more important because they are very small displays with more than 4K resolution.

The ideal solution is to move many of these dialog boxes in the browser chrome (and you will see that on the dialogs such as access camera/microphone in Chrome), when the browser has an authoritarian vision of user input and is always on it later from the screen, but that requires buy-in effort and the genius of each single browser provider It's so slow to travel lane.  The rest of them we must reconsider and rethink and these are ongoing discussions within the team.

In the short term, the best method to deal with these is to avoid, like private browsing mode really doesn't do the majority of the related concerns moot, and others (such as the LSO disk consumption) are pretty trivial.
