Go to the next slide, until you answer the question correctly

I use Adobe Captivate 6 and I'm creating a quiz that if students continue to next slide, they need to answer this question correctly.

Here's my setting.

Quiz Setting 2.jpgQuiz Setting 1.jpg

After above adjustment, when I reached this quiz, it did not continue. and then I answer incorrectly and then click on send, it shows that I have answered wrongly. Then I click on the next button, it allows me to go to the next slide. I guess I can't do that. May I know if the setting is correct? Thank you!

Subscribe to the required option. Since you have endless attempts, user will not be able to get unless it provides a correct answer. And you didn't hide the next button, which means that it can not move. But I think it's a bad idea to allow navigation back, because when a user navigates back, the next button is not there, so it will totally get stuck.  And if you want to allow the review, you need the following button as well. And you don't hide the PlayBar, which means that the user can ignore the questions.

I would reset the option you want on optional. Then hide PlayBar in Quiz and cannot move backward. Drag the next button under the clear button if you want the ability to review, but I suspect that this is not the case because you show slide of Score, which means that you won't have the review function.

  • What happens when you answer a question correctly

Would be very nice if those who receive assistance success would actually mark their answers questions. In short time I did this, I would say 50% of the time responses are never marked as such and thus appear to stay open as long as active questions, even if the author of the question got what they want. It wastes the time of volunteers who try to help you here.

Play just the guy if you want technical assistance free by experts that you would normally pay $50 upward, at least you can do is Mark answers as correct and give a thank you. If you do not you just doesn't help you the next time that you need - at least to myself.

The problem is that your target audience visits only when they need help and then not to visit the forum again until they have a problem.  If they don't read this thread, or realize they should mark accurate judged responses.  Most of the threads that are marked as correct is done by one of the mods forum, or they mark them as assumed answered, which also puts the green check against the thread.  Really fun is when the OP marks one of its own messages as correct, but they don't get all the points when they do this.

  • How to make a slide to wait until the user has answered a question correctly, even after activation of a smartshape?

    Background:

I created a questionnaire in which the user must answer each question correctly before to proceed to the next slide. That's what I did:

    • Set preferences Settings > required > respond to everything - the user must answer each question to continue
    • Set the number of attempts at the level of the question to infinity
    • Made the Next invisible button and disabled the PlayBar

In this way, the user can proceed to the next slide in the issue with the submission process - and, since attempts are endless, this means that after having answered the question correctly.

    Current objective:

I want the user to be able to click on a prompt for a hint. To configure this, I did the following:

    • Created a smartshape titled 'click_for_hint' to display the text that says: "click here for a tip.
    • Created a smartshape labelled 'hint' text display
    • Show "hint" success value "click_for_hint".

Now, when the user clicks on the text that says: "Click here for a hint," the suspicion appears. So it works - great! However, once the indicator is activated, I would like to for the user to continue endless attempts until respondent correctly to the question... and then only after answering correctly, proceed to the next slide.

    The problem:

If the user has submitted one or more wrong answers, and then activates the indicator, the slide just waiting until the user has answered the question correctly. Instead, it will be set in playing, proceeding to the next slide. I tried the smartshape 'hint' to take a break on the success of adjustment, but it does not work.

Is there a way to make the slide to wait until the answer to the question correctly before moving on to the next slide, even after the indicator has been activated?

Are you aware that your required parameter can cause problems, the blocking of the user? It is also completely useless because you have unlimited attempts at the level of the issue and hid the next button (hope, you don't need review, otherwise, I would recommend not to hide this button but slide it under the Clear key: the Question slides in Captivate - Captivate blog)

  • Go to the next slide

I want to develop a training course where you cannot advance to the next slide, until everything on the current slide is over - that is to say I want to disable the button 'next slide '. Everything works fine until you publish / preview the movie and he adds the "Captivate" progress bar at the bottom of the screen - in this way the user can simply click through to the end, without watch/listen to anything in the film. Is there a way to get around this?

You can remove the Captivate PlayBar and create your own navigation using buttons etc. Then, you are able to define exactly when you want the buttons to appear and restrict the user to ignore the content.

You can disable the Captivate PlayBar in the skin Editor (SHIFT + F11)

  • Tracking number of attempts to correctly answer a question of MC

I have a number of MC and T/F questions where I need to track the number of attempts it takes for a user to answer the question correctly. The T/F is easy because I am only allowing 1 attempt, so I can check to a pass/fail. However, the questions of MC allow 2 attempts. If a user he responds correctly, I need to know if it was the 1st or 2nd time and it seem not to be a way to track it (not that I can find).

I created 2 user variables for each question, the answer choice 1 and 1 for the tests, but he doesn't seem to be a way to fill until attempts maximum has been reached that defeated the whole purpose.

There must be a way to fill a meter of attempts until the maximum has been reached. Of course, Captivate is followed that somewhere, but I can't find a system variable that seems to fit.

I am tracking also attempts to quiz and need to aggregate the question through the quiz attempts total attempts, but let's first. I'll be happy to get information of attempts to question once at this stage.

    I use 8 Captivate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Post edited by: Karen Moyes I changed the subject line and tried to better explain what must happen.

    Hello and thanks for responding.

I am aware of the events that I have to use the quiz questions, I just regret the fact that, while in captivity titles nicely your attempts to answer for you so that you can add different success and failure of the options, there is no easy way to retrieve this info.

I figured out how to track attempts to question without having to change the number of attempts on the issues of choice of MC, so I kept the 2 attempts. I had to create a lot of variables and some cases rather complex statements multiple decisions for success and failure to do so, however.

Now 'all' I have to do is double what effort each quiz attempt, which will not be very easy because I am already bypassing the default of Captivate built to go to the 1st question quiz on the recovery and I have many other customization on some slides that must be taken into account with subsequent attempts to quiz. Once I got that all together, I'll be happy to share, even if it will take a lot of screenshots!

  • Is it possible to use advanced actions to set the value of the question?

Hi - I am trying to develop a course of Captivate 4 and wish I could on slide enter advanced use of actions to check the value of a user variable, and if the variable is equal to x then set the value of the question (correct) 1. Is there a system variable, that I can use to define?

This course is to download a package to an LMS (Moodle) SCORM.

    Ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, Captivate is not currently a way to manipulate SCORM score via advanced Actions and the user or System Variables.

So that you could have OnSlideEnter check and set the value of a variable, you don't have a way to use this information to force sending a question slide.

  • Captivate 7 - hide / disable the button 'next' until the question is answered

We try to make mandatory to answer a question before moving on to the next slide.

Ideally, we want to hide / remove the following navigation button until the answer to the question.

    Any help would be appreciated

P.S. I have check the Adobe forums and he suggested to put the next button under the clear key - that works... but not if you go to the slide - you can then go forward

    Thank you very much

    Al

You found my suggestion to the next button, which is designed as a "Skip" button during Quiz, under the Clear button, which also has the advantage that it can be a confusion between the transmission and the next button indeed and it was certainly also mentioned that it is supposed to not allow movement back and hide the playback bar in this case.

    http://blog.lilybiri.com/question-question-slides-in-Captivate

The buttons on question slides cannot be controlled as the other buttons. They are integrated into the question slide. If you want total control, you must create question slides personalized (lots of work).

Another approach with the default question slides is to check the required "Answer All" option in Quiz preferences, settings. Or you can use submit all, allowing movement to the rear and a warning appears if all the questions are answered, but you alow to present even in this case.

And you could try, if you feel uncomfortable with stocks advanced, to create a conditional action on enter for each slide, which displays a form button that will be back next movement button...

  • Hide the next button in the quiz until you click Submit

How can I do this? I don't want the learner to be able to click Next until what they have clicked on submit the final quiz. For various reasons, I can't put the quiz affecting Answer All, the main reason being there are formative earlier in the draft questions they should be able to jump to our table of contents to work. So, I just need an action that hides or disables the next button until that question has been submitted.

You don't need the button next in the Quiz, we mean that there is a "Skip" button. If you don't want to blow up, but you need it for later review, just under the Clear key.

  • 3 of the 6 slides quiz show "you have not answered this question completely" in the first entry of slide

I'm working on a project in Captivate 5. I have distributed 6 slides of question about the whole project. Q1 - 3 are working very well, at the entrance to the Q4 - 6 slide, the learner receives the message "you have not answered this question completely" even if it's the first time, they enter the page. They get stuck, just have a 'return' to them button returns to the previous page, in the output of the previous page, they receive the same message again. No retry option. The only way forward is to use the button next to the playback bar.

The parameters of my 6 questions are the same (classified, 3 attempts, continue on the success and the last attempt).

I figured it was because I had duplicated the question slides in order not to have to do all the formatting again (would be curious to know: I can do it without problem?) - but it seems that this was not the reason. I created 2 of 3 does not q from scratch and still have the same question.

Then, I thought it's because by clicking on an icon on the previous page, they can move to page Q without listening to the entire slide - that solved the problem in preview, but after publication it came again.

I'm totally lost here - would appreciate help from experts!

    Thank you

    Anja

This "you have not answered this question" message normally appears only once the user has tried the test at least once and review Quiz button has been clicked on the Quiz results page.

However, it may also appear if Captivate think user jumped out of the reach of quiz, then jumped into the new.  At that time, Captivate blocks all questions and show this message for any question unanswered.

So there must be something on your project, you have not told us until now.  Where's the Quiz results for this project page?  AFTER all the questions quiz is 6 located?  Is your project using maybe ramification that could Captivate think that you skipped range outdoor quiz?

There are a few changes in the quizzes. You are on the latest version: 9.0.1.320?

You can try to recreate something from scratch with the same settings, check if it is due to the upgrade?

How many attempts do you allow level question? What is the action "after the last attempt?

    Jeff

Don't apologize, I know that there is no breakthrough book around anywhere. Maybe once I take my courage and start with it. I am using Captivate version 1 on, but really plunged into it with version 4.

Have tried so much to persuade users to replace the old buttons by form buttons, not only on my blog, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, but also at webinars for Adobe. For your case, either you have buttons shape on a slide, and indeed, you are right, in this case, you do not to apply this model of slides to the first/last slide. But you can also time such a button for the rest of the project. Which allows much more control because you will be able to start the Back only on the second slide button, and to hide the next button on the last slide because you have an identifier for keys that is not the case for the buttons on Master slides.

OK, so you have the button next with his ID on this slide, it is possible to hide or - if you want to keep it visible, which I find a bit confusing to users, to 'turn off' on the slide. Deactivation will keep the visible button, but no what will be a click on it either. Hiding or disabling can be done with a simple action (Action accordion) for the event on enter on this slide.

For your popup: create a simple text container (either a legend or... once again a form) and make it invisible by uncheck Visible output in the properties panel, branded this PopupTxt. I turn the text "See list" in an interactive object by putting a box to click on it.  To succeed in this click box, create an advanced action standard which will look like this:

    • See the PopupTxt
    • See the BtNext (where you use the ID of the next button on this slide)

If you have disabled the Next button, not hidden, put another box to click on it. Having a pop up warning, have another WarningTxt text container (use a bubble shape? I'm the Evangelist of forms) with this warning, make it invisible as well start with. To this click box, I think you need the warning that only once, so create another standard action for its event of success:

    • See the WarningTxt
    • Hide the Click box

And the click box on the «view complete list»

    • See the PopupTxt
    • Activate BtNext (where you use the ID of the next button on this slide)

    Hope this helps?
