Good example of use of "filters" vs "process of selection" in 11 g

Hi, does anyone have a clear example of a business case where you would use "steps of the selection" vs filters in 11g? I'm very good at 10g, trying to tune in 11g and find documentation quite ambiguous about why you would choose one against the other.

Thank you!

  • What is a good way to use the queues for the model of consumers/producers?

    Hi all

    I am following the model of consumers/producers to use the queue to synchronize the following process: the producer is a loop to produce a number N, I will put each number generated in a table and after each 5 numbers generated, I put the table in the queue and pass it on to the consumer. I have to wait the use by consumers of the data and it will then remove the item from queue so that producers will have the chance to produce another 5 numbers. As I put the maximum size of the queue one, I expect that the producer and the consumer turns to produce / consume all five numbers and the opportunity to another. Here is my code

    When the checkbox is false, the code will be

    For the first 5 numbers, product will generate every thing right and put it in the table, and it's going to pass the array to the quere so that the consumer will have the chance to loop through the table. I except the procude loop will continue only when the queue is available (i.e. all items are deleted), but it seems that once the consumer starts the loop loop of the product will continue (if the indicator x + 1 and x 2 will be changed to numbers). But this isn't what I want, I know there must be something wrong, but I can't say it is.

    As you say in 1, sequency structure to enforce the order of execution, that's why I put it here, in this example, the simple question, I replace the complete code with increase in the number, in the real case, the first markers + 1 and + 2 must be performed in this order.

    Mikeporter says:
    1. get rid of all the structures of the sequence. None of them are nothing but apply a work order which would have been the same without them.

    So even if you delete the sequence structure, there will be a fixed & defined order and it is because LabVIEW follows the MODEL of FLOW OF DATA.

    Data flow model (more precisely in the context of LabVIEW): a block diagram node runs when it receives the required inputs. When a node is running, it produces output data and transmits data to the next node in the path of the data stream. The flow of data on the nodes determines the order of execution of the VIs and functions on the block diagram (click here for reference).

    Now in your code, just remove the sequence structure will not make you order will be going to stay the same, but you need to do some very minor changes (as thread of the error in loop, before that he go to the node "Élément Dequeue").

    Come to the main point: it's a good way to use the queue for the consumer/pmodel that?
    The model you are using (and qualifying as consumer/pmodel) is much too deviated from the original consumer/pmodel which model.

    dragondriver wrote:

    For the second, Yes, it's my fault for delete, though. I'm actually the example of model of producer/consumer design pattern, but I do not pay attention to the while loop in the part of the consumer.

    While loops (two producers & consumers) are the essential part of this architecture and cannot be deleted. You can start your code using standard model.

  • Why LabVIEW example projects using Global Variables?

    I'm puzzled.  I've been pretty good programmers LabVIEW talks (including some who work for the OR) and came away with the impression that Global Variables should, as a general rule, be avoided, with functional Global Variables (alias VI Globals) generally preferred for "local memory".

    I have studied some of the example distributed with LabVIEW, 2012 and 2013, in particular the proposed acquisition in real time and am struck by the use of Global Variables, where I'd be inclined to use instead a FGV.  For examples, to stop all the loops on the RT target, the overall "All the RT loop Stop" is defined; 'Constants' of configuration (such as timeouts, Streme network names, the names of the journal folder) are kept as Globals; Streme network endpoints are stored in Globals.

    [Note - there is a weird spelling of the second word of the network Streme, above - when I tried to post with the correct spelling, I got an error message saying this word is 'not allowed in this community".]  I apologize for the offense, but I must confess that I do not understand what the problem with the help of the spelling of this word...]

    Why use Globals in these cases, rather than write a bunch of VIGs to hold these data?  Note that almost all these Globals are 'Read' essentially (written once when a resource is acquired, for example) or "Read Only" (treated as if they were a constant).  Indeed, read-only variables can be written as a Subvi with only an output terminal, acting as a (visible, due to the icon) constant.

    I can see advantages to this approach.  On the one hand, VIGs can have error bounds who run the data flow (I just spotted a bug "data flow" in code, I am developing that is based on this model, to read configuration data to an XML file in a world and in the same VI, Global wiring to a "use - me" terminal, but with no guarantee that I'll read the overall after I write it).

    It is, I suppose, a matter of 'speed' - perhaps Global Variables are 'faster' than VIGs (especially if the VIG 'sits' on an error line).  My thought, however, is that this difference is likely to be trivial, especially as these VIGs (or Globals) tend to become "occasional" calls (with the exception of the indicator 'all the loop Stop' which is called once per line).

    Are there other arguments or considerations that make a Variable global to a better choice than a VIG?  Is there a reason that LabVIEW developers put in these start-up of projects LabVIEW?

    BS

    I have to ask, how do you use functional Global Variables?  Like just a Get and Set?  If so, you can use a global variable.

    Yes, globals are faster and use much less overhead.  At the summits of CLA in recent years, we talked about using globals.  The most common use is for Write-Once-Read Many and writing-never-Read Many with configuration data.  It's a good idea to use globals with the constants that can change on you.  It turns out that the world will have the same performance as a constant in this case.  This is done so that you don't have 1 place to edit the 'constant '.

    The rule on "Globals are evil" actually goes back several years when NEITHER had the huge "people of the country are bad" vendata.  But NEITHER explains well how to do things properly.  So I found people, instead of using local variables, using the value property node.  It's even worse because the property causes thread swaps and kills your performance.  It wasn't until I shouted to people to use wires and shift registers I have seen improvements in the way in which people wrote their code.  So people are always riffling in the use of globals and decided to use FGVs with the EEG and fixed rather cases.  But this does not solve the problem of the conditions of race with critical data and you cause an additional burden.

    So from my experience, I use globals all the time for configuration data.  Yes, you must be careful about the race conditions.  But as long as you understand that it is a common and useful practice.

    I would not use a global variable for data that are constantly changing (use registers to offset or Action motor) and/or processes that have critical sections of code (use a motor of Action).

    NOTE: I use the definition of Mercer to FGV (a Get/Set only) and motor Action (many cases which specifically affect the data).

  • I have a power shot sx HS 40 & need information about the use of filters with this camera? Thank you ~.

    I have a power shot sx 40 & would like information on the use of filters with this device?

    Thank you ~.

    Hi Rainlily,

    You will need the # model Canon adapter filter f-DC67A to use filters on this camera, which costs about $25.00. Bower makes one for about $9.00 available in B & H and Bower products work well with the Canon. This adapter uses 67 mm filters. If you have not yet all filters, I would recommend Hoya or Tiffen filters as they are of high quality at reasonable prices. Do not get the expensive filters because in general they can cause color casts that may be difficult to view the process on. Have fun!

  • selection list loading using the ondemand/ajax process data

    Guys,

    Ive has a selection list that has a query default LOV (select jobname d, jobid r of the work) but now iam trying to create application processes to pass new values LOV (like select ename d, empno from emp by 1 r) replacing the previous lov when a button is clicked

    any idea please?

    good idea to use the function in the pipeline, but I really want to use ondemand/ajax call here I don't mind spending extra energy so long as its feasible

    I never mentioned in pipeline functions.

    A dynamic LOV can be created as either a static SQL query:

    select ename l, empno v from emp order by 1

    or in the body of a function that returns a SQL query:

    declare

      lov_sql varchar2(4000);

    begin

      if :foo > :bar
      then
        lov_sql := 'select dname l, deptno v from dept order by 1'
      else
        lov_sql := 'select ename l, empno v from emp order by 1'
      end if;

      return lov_sql;

    end;

    This will allow you to create a dynamic data source for the LOV using some logic is required. LOV options can be modified using standard dynamic action of refreshment. There is no need to create an additional On demand process or write complex AJAX code. Use declarative when possible.

    Hi all. I'm on OWB 11.2.0.2.0.

    When I used a function or a procedure that is packed for a mapping operator, I can find the name of package.program_unit by getting FUNCTION_NAME property of the operator. For example,.

    But when even is used in a workflow process activity, I can't find a property name that will give me the same information. I can get the BOUND_NAME, it don't tell me the name of the package. It must be stored in the properties of the activity because when you pull up to synchronize for the activity dialog box, he knows the name of package.

    Is it possible to get this via an OMBRETRIEVE?

  • Good examples of DPS on Android?

    Hello

    Are there any good DPS magazines on the Google game store would you recommend to study, examining and pinching ideas from ?

    I took a look but was severely disappointed by the experience, which means that it's a great opportunity to make a killing or technology nothing beats the market controlled by Apple's iPad. I appreciate there are a few overlays that are not compatible, but after spending an hour I still find something I could show a client as a good example of the potential.

    Kind regards

    Simon.

    When creating content for Android devices, you should keep in mind that the new 1280 x 800 7 "devices such as the Nexus 7 include a larger system navigation bar. While the 1280 x 800 10 "Galaxy and Xoom tablet display 48 pixels nav bars, the Nexus 7 displays a bar of nav 75 pixels. To avoid chipping, consider creating a rendering 1280 x 725 (pm only) for the Nexus. If you create a folio dual orientation, creating a folio 1205 x 725 and items to avoid scale on the Nexus. If you have already created 1232 x 752 folios and articles don't want create new items, create a rendering of smaller folio that has the same proportions as your source items. To get advice from DPS, I created a folio 1155 x 705 and imported my 1232 x 752 items. (It actually took me more time to calculate the numbers only to import the items.)

    When you created the Viewer application that does not work on Nexus? You should be able to use the latest version of the viewer Builder to create a viewer that works on the Nexus. DPS tips works great on my Nexus. Once you get created, I would like to know if you would like to move your application to test.

    Another thing to consider. The fire of Kindle does not display the navigation bar on the Android system. Creation of 1024 x 600 and 1280 x 800 renditions folio should work for current and future fire models well.

    These are images that are missing. You must locate and copy the appropriate images. You should be able to determine what their filenames are by looking at the source of the files. Once you sort who, just copy the images too.

    Or, if you repeatedly dealing with this, copy the images to the list of files of luggage so that they are populated by automagickally.

  • I do not understand this statement "It is a good idea to keep track that uses a bunch of Audio channels selected in the arrange window, unless you actively play or record on a software Instrument."

    It's a good idea to keep track that uses a bunch of Audio channels selected in the arrange window, unless you actively play or record on a software Instrument.

    Which no longer applies in Logic Pro X 10.2.3. In old versions of logic, selecting a range with a software instrument automatically would make this instrument in "Live" mode, which means that the instrument has begun to transform any MIDI in sound with a minimum of delay. This direct mode becomes an instrument need CPU power (on a single processor) and peut overload the audio engine. It is a waste of CPU if there is no direct game. Then select an audio track would ensure that No instrument is in direct mode. Now (LPX 10.2.2 or more) in direct mode can be turned on or off on a track, chosen or not - it is the R button on the track header.

    MIB fastpathlogging has 'agentLogInMemoryConfigGroup '.
