Google on Firefox gets my incorrect location (Chrome and Edge are fine)

Since the upgrade to Windows 10, I had some localization issues when using Firefox. When I search something in Google, I get only US results (we are located in the Canada). However, Chrome and Edge both show good Canadian results. I checked the location of my IP address and it shows Toronto (as it always has).

It's only a problem since upgrade to Windows 10. When I was installing Windows 10, I know that I turned off location services because I don't trust Microsoft with any personal information. However, thinking that this might be the cause of my problems, I finally gave in and activated the service return. However, it has not fixed the problem.

I tried to change the settings for Google Privacy policy by clicking on the padlock and setting the access location to 'allow' but which does not have something or the other.

I am at a loss. Firefox has been my main browser for more than a decade, but it's a deal breaker. I am currently working on a SEO project and I need my search results as specific location.

Many Canadian and British users report that Google redirects is more research that Firefox sends to google.com on the local country site. Is that what happens to you, you get results on google.com , instead of google.ca?

I have yet to see no explanation for the change, or any miracle. What I suggest is to install a google.ca- specific search plugin and do as your default.

For example, this page has four options of Google Canada:

http://mycroftproject.com/Google-search-plugins.html

During the installation, should be offered the opportunity to make the new default search plugin. You can try it for a while and see if you like the results and, if not, you can change your default by using the Options page search section:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > search

  • Sites Web regularly not approved since refreshing Firefox. I deleted cert8.db; time settings are fine, but still does not work. What should do?

    First had error message saying that something prevents update with the Firefox Firefox refresh query. So I did. Result is common Web sites such as google and own sites of mozilla not opening not because "Untrusted connection" - (error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer).
    I am working on Mac OS X 10.10.2

    Ah, you see AVAST there under the issuer of certificate?

    Your Avast security software is intercepting your navigation to filter threats. In order to filter connections secure, Avast creates these false certificates and presents them to your browser. Since Firefox uses a certificate from Safari, Firefox should be set up to trust in Avast to generate these certificates.

    Now... in theory, Avast is supposed to update Firefox automatically when you go outside and start it again. I guess you left Firefox since this problem started, but, if not, that give a try.

    If this does not work, you or a volunteer will have to search the steps to get the Avast signing certificate in Firefox.

    Plan C would be to get the old file cert8.db file old data of Firefox on your desktop and it transplanted into your current Firefox profile. You must already have been put in place to work with Avast.

  • You block a computer site that Chrome and IE are not

    I can't go to a website, but I can't on chrome and IE. the site is www.pcworld.com , that's certainly not porn or anything to do with digital rights. It's infuriating. What should I do reinstall my OS or Firefox, or leave altogether?

    It was my fault. I knew that when I installed that might have this effect with some sites, but totally forgot I even had to install it (I woke up once again today!). Maybe the possibility should be mentioned in the error message from Firefox to meet the forgetful old fogeys (just to be polite) like me?

  • FLV files are not displayed in Firefox, but do on IE Chrome and Safari

    I have the following code on a Web page to display a video file that is stored in an external location

    <object width="480" height="350">
    <param name="movie" value="http://flvnetwork.com/assets/YTPlayer.swf" />
    <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" />
    <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" />
    <param name="flashvars" value="autostart=false&amp;frontcolor=lightblue&amp;backcolor=black&amp;file=http://flvnetwork.com/vod/iseehosting/media/lifejackets.flv&amp;image=http%3A%2F%2Fflvnetwork.com%2Fvod%2Fiseehosting%2Fmedia%2F4d1a61b3-892c-4201-af31-6f4e108c4511.jpg" />
    </object>

    Video files appear OK in IE8 and IE9 and Chrome on PC and Safari and Chrome on Mac. I don't see why it wouldn't display on Firefox in Mac or PC format.

    Kind regards
    Ian Johnson

    For Firefox, you must specify the file name in an attribute in the object tag.

    <object width="480" height="350" data="http://flvnetwork.com/assets/YTPlayer.swf">
    <param name="movie" value="http://flvnetwork.com/assets/YTPlayer.swf" />

  • Firefox will not connect to any Web site. Chrome and IE work fine.

    I use Firefox as my main browser for years without any problem. A couple of days without reason apparent, is no longer connected to ANY Web site. The tab displays indefinitely 'connection '.... "with the circle of rotation. I can use IE and Chrome without any problem. I rechecked the Options-> advanced-> connection to the proxy settings and tried all options but nothing helped. I also started using the safe and still nothing. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. I'm on version 42.0

    Surely, there must be a way to debug this to understand.

    I use another firewall, so I don't know how operation windows.
    I called the big players to help you. Good luck.

    Type of topic: preferences #advanced< enter > in the address bar.

    Under Advanced, select network.
    Search for configure how Firefox connects and then press the settings button.
    If you use a proxy server, make sure that these settings are correct. If there is no

    Hello

    Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

    If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

      then select restart with disabled modules.

    If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
      (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

    When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

    If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

    To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

    When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • typing in the url of my site Web company sends to page index https in Firefox, but not IE or Chrome, and the behavior is not

    After updating Firefox to version 14.0.1 I noticed when I typed in the Web address of my business that firefox was the site https:// version when it has never done this before.

    Example, if you type in amazon.com in the URL bar, you will briefly see that firefox changes the url to https://www.amazon.com before be automatically directed to the site normal www.amazon.com .

    My site did not have a secure index page and received a message generated by the server until I discovered this problem.

    Is there a setting in Firefox to prevent the URL bar by first selecting a secure connection? This behavior occur in newer versions of I.e. or Chrome browsers on a desk.

    You have a regular backup routine? Although Firefox is usually very well behaved, it's a good idea to always keep a backup copy of your essential files. If you are not using local media, such as an external hard drive, you can use a service like Carbonite or CrashPlan MozyHome cloud.

    Like other browsers, you can choose to have Firefox browser 'default' or keep it as a browser extra. The default browser is that Windows uses to open shortcuts to web pages (for example on your desktop) and links to other programs (for example, MS Word or Adobe Reader). If you are not ready to give up on IE, you can install Firefox, refuse to be your default browser, in order to try out it.

    Make sure to install from the official site:

    https://www.Mozilla.org/Firefox/all/ (scroll down to your language)

  • Can I get rid where hide VIP and Flagged areas in Mail?

    As always, trying to make the best use of the screen space: can I remove, hide, or move the VIP and mailbox with flag in the mail?  I never use them and they lose screen space.  I'd be happy to force just under the mailboxes that I don't want to see...

    None of these mailboxes should show unless you actually have some contacts listed as a VIP and marked messages. These contacts him remove VIP label and remove the flagged messages. Deselect the mailbox store, and then restart the Mail. They should disappear.

  • BONES of Firefox does not appear correctly. It seems that the CSS and JS are not rendered. Any help would be most appreciated!

    I would have preferred someone show a screenshot of the web pages, but it is not a file attach on this forum. In any case, with only Firefox OS, not my other browsers, web pages didn't properly. For example on Facebook, there is no header or footer. JS is enabled in the browser, and like I said Chrome and Safari are NOT having problems. I'm surmising that the CSS and JS files are somehow not displayed. I can be very wrong, but I would accept with gratitude any help anyone has to offer. Thank you and have a great day!
