• Unselectable gradient map

  Hello! I use Photoshop on Mac and for some reason CC any map of gradient option is not selectable at all. I work with PSD images were pixilated, duplicated and merged. I am able to apply adjustments such as Hue/Saturation, Desaturate, Photo filter, Blender, etc., but not may apply to threshold gradient, invert, brightness/contrast, curves and a few others.

  I work maybe to a certain way that would not allow me to do such things? Or I made a few adjustments to the layer that makes these available options for me?

  I'm exhausted on the options and I'm wasting my time trying to understand something so simple. Any help? Thank you.

  Solved my problem. I had to change the 32-bit to 8-bit mode in the Image. Now, all filters can be used.

• Adjustments of gradients

  I think that not fair to say that, when you process multiple pictures in ACR, you can apply any adjustment to all selected images. What you can't do, is apply a gradient adjustment (and the adjustment brush) to several images simultaneously.

  I'm sure that there is a very good reason for this, but when I apply gradients to the landscapes of a hundred, just to get a better idea of those to choose from, it gets a bit laborious! I know that positions of the gradients will be slightly different in each picture, but I quite often custom-pick a frame gradient of exposure/contrast/clarity for a special session or a lot, and it would be easier to apply the first gradient and refine it later.

  Did I miss something or someone can suggest a different workflow?

  Try to synchronize the cab.  Open the pictures you want in ACR.  Apply the gradient to an image.  Select all, synchronize and check local adjustments.  Works even in bridge - develop settings.

• access the properties of digital format

  I create digital controls/indicators on the fly.  Most of them should be displayed in hexadecimal.  However, I can't access the format properties that allow me to define that when I create the indicator/control using the new object VI VI.  I think that this happens because the numeric type is not digital (Strict) but rather just num.

  I say this because I realized that if I simply place a digital control on a façade, made a right click to create a reference, and then access the properties of the said reference, I have access to the properties of the format, I want to talk.  A compare/contrast below pic to show what I mean...

  

  So my thought then was, maybe I should change the style of the object I created to be digital digital type, but this style does not exist.  There are styles of digital data, but this is something completely different.

  So my question is, what style/class combo do I need to have a digital control that will allow me to specify the Format property?

• Where are my scans?

  I'm scdanning of slides with a HP Scanjet G4050 scanner to a desktop HP using Windows 8.  I set it up to scan to file.  With my preferences set to save to TIFF, only the first slide of 16 scans of slides appear in the designated file folder.   I talked to a commercial technical support at HP today and he discovered that if I save a jpg file all 16 slides appear in the folder of files.  However, when scanning to a tiff file and I go to the folder that contains the slide that is saved and open it with a photo viewer, then all 16 slides are there and visible.  The tech support guy couldn't tell me where these files are stored so that I can get to them and categorize when I finished all my scanning slides.   I hope all this makes sense and we hope someone has an answer.

  TIFF is better that JPEG is a subjective matter and depends on your archiving, editing and printing needs. You can read some articles compare/contrast (example here) before filling a whole bunch of TIFF, just to make sure it's the best format for your scanning application.

• Call the recovery of CDR and RMC Records Manager

  I have my tent monitor QOS in a CallManager configuration and so I need access to records CDR/CMR. I read a lot of references to this subject and currently quite confused about which way to go. I know that CDR/CMR obtained records be retrieved a little ways, but it seems to me hit a roadblock in each. So if anyone can advice me which would be the most appropriate, it would be great. I have them listed below.

  (1) access options-mib on the voice gateway CISCO-VOICE-SELECTOR - giving quality of Service for calls active and historical values. But the problem here is if a Cisco Catalyst switch is used as a gateway, this MIB is not supported on it. It relies on many of the other Cisco routers.

  (2) access to the Microsoft SQL db and query the tables of CDR and CMR. But I guess that this option has been deprecated in Call Manager version > 7 or more

  3) CDR/CMR files through SOAP request. Is the format of the request for the COR and the same RMC? I found one example in the XML Developer's guide. But the application doesn't have a parameter that can distinguish between a request for the COR or CMR.

  How can I access the CMR records using this approach. This approach is valid ofr versions of the call manager and the GUY?

  (4) CDR and CMR can be sent as a syslog message using the CISCO-SYSLOG-MIB. Can you please tell me if there is a specific configuration to do for that? Is this valid for all versions of the call manager and the GUY?

  I wouldn't go this route if you are talking about a Cisco UCM deployment.  Yes, you will find information on gateways, but that is not really necessary, and as you have discovered, depending on the platform.

  Fix.  In pre-5 x days CDRs were flat files collected by subscribers and send to the Publisher (for a part of MS).  A service at the Publisher (CDRInsert) take these flat files and push them into a database.  It's a MS SQL DB.  Here, the data could be maintained by other applications and processes.  In the version of the device, the CDRs are always grouped at the Publisher, but are kept in the form of flat files.  If you have activated the CDR Analysis and Reporting (ERA) on the CUCM system, flat files will be available in a database format and you can really ask of the CLI on the server.  More information on the CAR in a little.

  It does not work quite the way you think. The CDR interface on SOAP request that you speak is simply a command you can send to the CUCM system to find out what the CDRs are sitting in the repository.  You can then use the interface to retrieve the CDRs.  The intended use for the COR on demand API is to allow a server to "pick up" billing all CDRs he missed due to a disruption in the communication of the CUCM system.  Concerning the differentiation between the COR and CMR.  I have not watched this API recently, but I recall it's your application/script will need to determine what type of call recording is available through the name of the flat file (cmr vs cdr).  But I could be wrong.

  I didn't know that's true for CUCM.

  For CUCM, I would look to set up a server billing detailed call (CUCM maintenance of web pages).  Billing is fundamentally a FTP/SFTP server which the CUCM cluster will flow the CDRs based on a specified interval.  You just need a FTP/SFTP server IP address (I recommend SFTP) and a user name.  The default interval is 1 minute (defined in the parameters of the business).  You can change the interval.  This will give you the raw data that you can treat to your heart's content.  For CME, the data structure is different and you will need to send details of calls via syslog, I think.  You need normalize recordings if you want to compare/contrast.  I haven't looked this aspect of the CME myself.

  I have already mentioned CAR.  It is a Cisco delivered with CUCM application for free. You just allow it.  As a free application, it is not really the most useful.  But it can sometimes meet the exact demand that you are looking to fill. Browse ORC "CDR analysis and Reporting tool.

• Question from newbie on masking/extraction

  I'm relatively new to Photoshop and tries to extract an image of a face from its background. Unfortunately, the image that I use is extremely difficult. It is definitely not for beginners. I have attached to this email. I wonder if sometimes the best strategy is to simply pass on the photo and not even attempt it. In other words, pick your battles. How advanced users would attempt to extract or hide this photo? I started with the usual and then entered tools in the troubled world of masks, but I dropped. Any tips? See attached picture.

  You can duplicate any channel, or image > calculations to improve the difference between her hair and the background. You can adjust the levels of the mask as a result, as painting on masks with a brush in overlay to tease mode contrast in the mask.   I'm working on a project by showing some video clips. I converted the video clips to FLV and put each inside FLV's own SWF. Now, I want to bring separate SWFs in a 'master.swf', which has a placeholder_mc, at the request. There will be a list of text OR a series of buttons that the user will use to select which video clip, they want to see and therefore what SWF must be loaded in the captain placeholder.

  That does not load in other SWF files, it creates only the new instance of
  symbols in the library.

  Three things I can think of:

  Your document must be in RGB mode.

  Layer blending mode should be set to Normal

  Masks are grayscale. If you select the mask, you cannot apply a color.

  Always check your tab at the top to see if what you choose is RGB or grayscale.

  Try to resave the EPS to the native .ai or .psd format (depending on whether it's raster or vector) and use it.

  I created a button with a gradient overlay, but when I click and drag the button, the rest gradient overlay in place, it will not move with the key. Y at - it an option that I am to anchor the gradient with the point that I created? I have never seen it before. I'm on Photoshop CC 14.0 on a Mac.

  Well, then you must make sure that the box that says: "Align on the layer" is checked.

• Re: Export of overlays w Gradient / transparency

  I am currently using photoshop CS5,

  I have a layer that is a vector mask on a solid color. The fill of the layer is black, so when I put on the screen it is transparent. I then have an effect of gradient overlay applied to the layer that fades to a solid a transparency color. There is no blending mode applied to the gradient overlay, so that it is as usual. It looks exactly how I want it to look!

  The problem is when I try to flatten the layer, or export this layer as a PNG. Black filling appears where it is supposed to be transparent, even if it is not visible. If I try to remove the fill all together and use use a transparent block to cover my gradient, it won't work, because there is nothing for the gradient overlay on. If I try to make the gradient using the gradient tool, then using the vector shape layer, it's imprecise, and I don't know any way to control how the gradient is applied, other than to guess with the mouse. I have a bunch of those forms that have to stack and use the same exact gradient alignment, and I need to export in png. If I make it in illustrator and their port on Photoshop, there is always a problem with pixels burrs on the edges of my forms.

  Here's an example, the appropriate discoloration is on top, but when I flatten or export, I get the background:

  

  I use much more of forms, some more complicated, and I really want precise control over gradients.

  Thanks, I realized what I was doing wrong, I was clicking on the checkbox next to "gradient overlay" when I should have been by clicking on the text "gradient overlay" it's me, as you have if rightly had pointed out I just asumed you meant the box lol. Thanks for the help I appreciate it.

  Complete Photoshop is simply Photoshop, as in Photoshop CS6, the current version. It costs about ten times as much as PSE, but has many more features.
