Grid command Linux vs Windows

Just made the GC 10.2.0.5 on Windows 2003 installation and do running. The new GC 11 g is not yet available for Windows. Almost all our Oracle databases are on Linux RHEL 4 and it seems that the installation and administration of Oracle in general in Linux is better than Windows. Considering the installation of GC on Linux to test. I want to hear just about all the gurus of the GC - how does GC behaves on Linux vs Windows. Why would you recommend one or the other?

Thank you

Hello Curt,.

Linux is the platform of choice for Oracle. Most of their products be devloped on this platform.

This means that (inl OEM GC) products will be available on Linux, first of all, this is also true for patches.

In addition, Linux seems to be a much more stable platform, then Windows.

Finally, it could be a little cheaper...

Yesterday, I noticed that FF 5.0.1 for Linux and Windows are available.

  • EliteBook 8560w: 8560w w / external projector does not not under Linux or Windows 8.1

I recently bought an Elitebook 8560w opportunity and installed 8.1 for WIndows and Linux in a dual-boot configuration.  Using the laptop for weeks caused no problems at all.

I used the display port on the screen on a TV 720 p to Samsung to mirror, so the kids can play games and it works perfectly, but when I try to connect to a home theater receiver as a passage to a projector 1080 p, the projected screen turn black for a few seconds, and then correctly show the desktop. This trend will continue indefinitely.

I hooked it goes back to the 720 p TV and it works perfectly.  The problem exists in Linux and Windows.  I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled a different version in each operating system.

    Ideas?

The Elitebook works and no hardware or software problem.

You may need to have an active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter since signal must pass the home theater receiver.

  • Is the subst command broken in Windows 7?

I have a media (MediaMonkey) reading application I've used for several years, one of its annoying features is that if you want to synchronize and convert the music into a local folder, you must create a virtual disk for this purpose letter. It's a pain, but I did this for years in Windows XP without any problem using the subst command. However, in Windows 7, I am struck by the problems.

    Scenario of

I have 2 physical hard drives with multiple partitions each in my PC. Rather use a ton of drive letters, I configured the system for the partition system is mounted in the drive C:, as usual, but all other partitions are mounted in folders under C:\Volumes\(volume name)

Let's say I have a folder for my multimedia files under C:\Volumes\Share\Music\Encoded_MP3 (where the partition is mounted on C:\Volumes\Share)

I can create a Q: drive letter with in a command prompt (with administrator privileges) using -.

    C:\Volumes\Share\music\Encoded_MP3 q: SUBST

After having done that, the command SUBST, said the drive letter exists.

    C:\Windows\System32>subst
    Q:\: => C:\Volumes\Share\music\Encoded_MP3

But the drive Q actually does not appear in the Explorer of can I and MediaMonkey can not see it either by car.

Is the subst command broken in Windows 7? and if so is it anothere medium to create a drive letter to a folder on a non-system drive partition?

The SUBST command works in Windows 7, but the substituted drive is visible in the same level of privilege.  The execution of your command SUBST in an elevated command prompt should NOT fix your problem.  Interestingly, you can run it in fact in both a high and no high command prompt and it will be accessible in both directions.

  • How to install a local help for the tools of cmd.exe and command line on Windows 7?

    Hello

for many applications, the command line (cmd.exe) is a good choice to get results with minimum effort. The shell has continuously been improved over the years, at least until Windows XP.

All the command line tools have a short help screen (using the /? option). When you need more information, you use Windows system for example from the Explorer Help. It is very good.

Now, Windows XP Help content was installed on site, and the operating system. In Windows 7, my computer wants to go to the Microsoft web site on the internet and there is no local help available. The operating system seems to be incomplete. This makes the help system unusable on a computer without internet access or when the server is not accessible.

So my question is: is it possible to install a local copy of help for the tools of cmd.exe and command line under Windows 7 or do we have to go back to Windows XP?

    Thank you

    Martin

  • How can I get run command Wizard in windows 7

How can I get run command Wizard in windows 7

    Help & Support:

    That became the command run?

The run command no longer appears on the start menu in this version of Windows. The search box that appears in the start menu provides much of the same functionality as the command run. However, the command run is still available if you prefer to use. You can even add it to the start menu for easier access.

To add the run command to the start menu
Click to open the taskbar and Start Menu Properties.

Click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize.

In the list of options on the start menu, select the command box run and then click OK. Run the command will appear on the right side of the start menu.

    Tip:
You can also access the command run by pressing the logo Windows + R key.

  • How to install Linux in Windows 8?

I bought a new laptop and I was happy, until I turned it on. It was not an option to access the BIOS, when I started first, I noticed. Then I followed the installation of Windows 8, everything was going well (except for the part that I want to talk). I put in my x 64 Arch Linux cd, restarted Windows 8... There is still no option to access the BIOS. NO BIOS. I paid $ 700 for this laptop, but it doesn't have a BIOS. I think I've paid enough to receive a BIOS. Well, back to the story. The arch Linux installation menu doesn't start, but a windows 8. I tried the CD on my other laptop and it worked. I searched Google for hours and I found answer he. UEFI. It's sad. I found the answer: http://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/20303.html but I'm afraid that this method may not work and break the whole system. If it breaks the stupid windows will break and if windows case I have no computer. THANK YOU MICROSOFT.

Anyway, anyone know how to install Linux in Windows 8? I intend to remove Windows 8 once I do it because Windows 8 is inflated and it will be a waste of space and partitions.

Well I have not played with Arch Linux so I can't help, I mentioned only what I did with Ubuntu.
But I was wondering why there is no BIOS - I have a DELL Studio with Windows 8 Professional and I can easily boot into BIOS.

See if you can help the following:--

  • Secondary disk between Linux and Windows guests share

    Hi guys,.

I have a requirement to have a guest Windows and Linux comments share the same disk (formatted in NTFS) and the two systems need full access to the shared file system.

What I've read, it is possible in some cases, such as the Windows Server cluster.

Has anyone tried this with Linux and Windows?

    Thank you

What I've read, it is possible in some cases, such as the Windows Server cluster.

Windows uses a cluster without sharing, wherever a single node has access on the drive shared at the same time. Microsoft does not support concurrent access to an NTFS file system, with the exception of Hyper-V.
