Group Policy scripts to connect to users in the domain without roaming profiles

Hi all

I am the network administrator in a school, and I have a problem with the configuration scripts to the default printer for our students.

I created a Powershell script that configures the printer default, based on the ORGANIZATIONAL unit of the computer on which the user connects from.

When a domain user without a roaming profile on a BBS post specific work for the first time, the script does not seem to set the default printer.

HOWEVER, the script works fine if:

(a) the user has a roaming (no longer) profile; or

(b) the user is logged on this before given workstation.

From what I see in procmon, Powershell actually runs when a user logs on to a workstation, for the first time, but the printer mapping is not changed.

Is it because the user has a local profile to each new PC they connect and that the profile is not created at a point where the default printer can be defined?

Can you see a way to work around that rather than make roaming profiles or get the user to sign out and then sign back?

Thank you

Peter

  • E-mailing users outside the domain of the enterprise groups

I want to set up a group of contacts - preference extended to users of the company - whose e-mail addresses are not in the domain of the company and then send an email to this group through hive. • Grant Local Admin rights to users in the domain

I need to grant privileges to local administrator for the users in the domain on our network. I did it through local users and groups. In groups, I go to the Administrators group and assign the Group of teachers to have local administrator rights. This works very well for the first day. Later, when a teacher says they cannot update the applications or install the software, I'm going in and finds that the privileges for the Group of teachers under managers disappeared. It continues to be. Can anyone shed some light on what's going on? I did it on the XP computers all the time and it worked fine. Thank you!

  • Computer showing a connection to another user on the domain, but no record of created profile.

We have a Win Server 2008 AD/DS environment.  On my clients believe that someone connects to his computer.  I checked the Security Event Viewer, and of course, I see several entries where other AD user accounts are logging into the machine.

However, I think that if they are, it would create a windows profile, even if it's a Remote Desktop Session, but there is no list in the C\users\ folder.  I don't understand why this is happening.  Here is an example of what I see.  Would appreciate someone's help.  I find autour, but all I know is the code reference to an authenticated connection.  The following example is an AD account that is not the main user on the machine and there is no account created user profile folder.

Ok thank you.  However, I don't see who is logging into the machine.  My question is, what they sign in?  Also, why isn't a user profile folder is created?

I tried to look in the registry and Win Explorer to a temporary profile folder, but there is none.

  • Slow connections for users of the sea

    Hello world

Works on a question recently that only see our offshore users. We opened our firewall of them directly in a security server. The Security server is not in the demilitarized zone, its within the network, so we had to open 3 ports in firewall only.

On the connection to the server, I disabled the Https: / / Secure tunneling as it caused our users internal a lot of headaches, but I left on the PCOIP Secure tunneling. On the server security PCOIP Tunnel and Tunnel HTTPS are configured with the same IP as the server security a. Devrais I change the IP of the art to the login server?

What are the things that I can check that almost all of our offshore users receive the attached error.

  • Access to VIC with the users in the domain

I'm under ESX 3.5.0 Server no VC. I would like to add permissions for users who are part of our domain. I got to the point where I can create a user on the ESX host with the same name as the domain user and then the user can connect with their domain password. Here are the steps I followed:

    esxcfg-auth - - enablead - - addomain = mydomain.com - - addc = mydc

    esxcfg-firewall - openport 88, tcp, out, KerberosClient

    esxcfg-firewall - openPort 464, tcp, out, KerberosPasswordChange

    esxcfg-firewall - openport 749, tcp, out, KerberosAdm

    restart the firewall service

At this point, I thought that I would be able to go to the permissions through VIC tab and choose 'Add Permission', then choose "Add..." "in the section users and groups in the window"Add permissions"then choose my domain in the"domain"box in the window"Select"dropdown. However, I can choose only '(server) '.

I therefore present on the ESX console:

    useradd domainuser

Without adding a password I then add permissions to this user and they can connect with their domain user and pass.

Am I missing a few steps to get my registered domain name or do I VC for this?

    Thank you!

I do not think that you will always be able to get to the bottom of the list of field because the ESX Server never a member of your domain name - it is mainly used for connecting to the VC - the way which these tools work (PAM, etc.) is they replicate all or a subset of users, and connection crededdd theoir

  • Slow connection, non-persistent desktops... of roaming profiles?

OK everyone I have a good, we use view 4.0.1 build-233023 and when we use no sticky Windows XP Pro 32-bit desktop computers, we run into the question of a slow connection during the period where Windows applies the user 'custom settings '.  The delay is not terrible, but it will cause colic.  I'm assuming that this delay occurs because the user does not have a profile on the newly created virtual machine.

We experimented with roaming profiles AD and so far there is no help.  Does anyone have ideas to avoid the "custom setting event?  We would really like to non-persistent work stations, like those persistent management is not really feasible in view 4.0.

    Thanks for the help everyone!

I had this problem and it took me about two months to get my picture gold until I was satisfied by the research, the trial & error and much rebuilt.

I used a combination of non-persistent computers, folder redirection, of roaming profiles and I have disabled all the tricks of custom setting (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/238441) and now my pictures are very alive and work perfectly for my environment (school).

I suppose that you have set records in your goldy and optimized it for sodomy.  Because before I did that my image has been sluggish on login.  The performance difference between my old image and the new image is like night and day.

    Good luck!
