Growing hardware reserved RAM.

Hello there,

recently, I found my computer runs much slower then before... too much time, he missed his ram, then applications crashed.

And finally I find this hardware reserved RAM went from 338 to 1418 MB (thanks to a screenshot taken when I took my computer first.)

And at the same time, I tried to solve the problem, however, it seemed a problem that cannot be solved...

I googled for several key words and can not find a solution, then, I came here to ask a question.

How can I return my ram?

This is the configuration of my computer:

Windows 7 Professional x 64

4 GB of ram installed (with 2678 available)

nVidia Quadro k2000m + Intel HD 4000 (graphic kernel for Intel has been disabled in my bios, so I have only a single graphics card)

And... no any other device has been installed since I bought this computer. And I did not install a system of re.

I tried the maximum limit of ram toggle in msconfig and proved that nothing.

I tried to reset the bios settings and nothing is proven.

I tried reboot many times and nothing is proven.

I tried to turn my graphics cards (two of them) and has proved that nothing.

It seems no solution except reinstall my system, but as it is all important program installed, it is difficult for me to do a restore system or re - install.

I can solve this problem?

Since it increases without any hardware change, I think that it can be caused by the wrong configuration, and changing these configuration could be rejected.

  • Sudden increase in hardware reserved memory?

I've had my current PC for 6 years. It has 8 GB of RAM installed and has been since I built it. It is always saved these 8 GB. But as of about a week before, he can use 6 of those, with 2 GB 'Reserved material'. The has not had changes to the material in about a year. The system has nothing hardware wise that can justify the taking of a quarter of my memory.

    Anyway to recover this memory?

    Specifications:

CPU: i7 920 (this CPU has no integrated graphics)

RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz modules (4x2Go). (Triple channel)

Graphics card: GTX 760 (2 GB of VRAM).

    Hi Andy,.

    Thank you for your response.

I have my apologies for the delay in response. I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. I will definitely help you with this.

The amount of memory usable are not exact amounts. Usable memory is a calculated amount of total physical memory, less "reserved equipment." I suggest you refer to the below given link and check if it helps.

Is there something I can add to the VMX file to enable this option?

Porto Richardson wrote: this setting for VMware Player is found in the file config.ini to the player %allusersprofile%/VMware/VMware

The OP said "I'm under VMware Player on a Ubuntu 14.04 host" so the file name and path you mentioned is not applicable.

@LukeJS host on a Ubuntu (Linux) from the file name won't get the .ini extension and will be simply called the config and will be parked at/etc/vmware /.  So with the machine virtual shutdown is not suspended and VMware Player closed then a Terminal used the following command.

    sudo nano/etc/vmware/config

    Then add the following line.

    prefvmx.minVmMemPct = "100".

It is essentially the same parameter that gets the value of the UI of VMware Workstation preferences for submission in response to the message that despite the instructions contained in the message does not exist in the VMware Player preferences user interface.

    Hello HP,.

I need to apply my RAM upgrade, now I'm using 2 * 2 = 4 GB of ram ddr3 an i want to upgrade to 8 GB ddr3 ram...

    I have 2 memoryslots...

    Can I install a single 8 GB of ddr3 ram in one slot, or should I use 2 * 4 = 8 GB ram...

Service and maintenance for your notebook Guide it seems to a single stick of 8 GB is a no-go. You will get a functioning dual channel with two 4 GB memory modules. Be sure and guaranteed purchase only the compatible memory modules if you want it to run as planned, just after having upgraded.

  • Installation of Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on DV6 2165TX

    Hello

I had posted earlier on the unused hardware reserved RAM when I upgraded my RAM to 3 GB, 6 GB. Link pasted below

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/hardware-upgrades-replacements/HP-Pavilion-DV6-2165tx-3GB-hardware-RESE...

I have suggested that I install 64-bit windows.

I tried to create the bootable USB key, but it simply doesn't. Have tried the steps as mentioned in the following links

USB bootable - Windows 7 key

    Installation Windows 7 64 bit

    In brief -

    ISO downloaded 64-bit Windows

    Approach 1-

1 downloaded Windows7 USB DVD Download Tool and created a USB of my 32-bit Windows 7 OS drive

    2. the installation program has not completed. Received error "utility could not create the boot sector on the USB key.

    Approach 2

1 used my laptop desktop - download Windows7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool and created a drive of my Windows 7 64-bit OS

    2. installation completed successfully

3 Connecting USB in my DV6, and click on "setup.exe" in the USB

    4. has received the error "this version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows that you use...". "

    Approach 3

1 used my laptop desktop - download Windows7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool and created a drive of my Windows 7 64-bit OS

    2. installation completed successfully

    3. change the order of boot in my DV6 - to charge from USB

    4. start Windows gets stuck on "windows loading files" and keeps restarting all stuck in the same loop

Then, when I try to create the bootable USB of my laptop DV6 32 bit, I get an error. When I create my computer laptop desk, my DV6 won't start him.

I read in one of the positions that

    • You can only create a USB stick bootable Windows 7 64 - bit flash player if your current Windows 7 installation is 64-bit also.
    • You can create a USB stick bootable Windows 7 32 - bit flash player if your current Windows 7 installation is 32-bit or 64-bit.

I think that even if I try to burn a DVD, it will be the same question

    Can you please.

    Thank you in advance.

    Found the problem...

I got 6 GB RAM inserted in the notebook (4 + 2 GB sticks).

I removed the newly isnerted memory stick 4 GB and replaced the original configuration that is 1 GB + 2 GB RAM

Windows booted from my USB and I installed 64-bit Windows OS.

Well that now the purpose of installing64bit what OS is still not reached... as the new Windows does not start when I put the 4 GB of RAM in all configurations

  • Compaq presario cq62 available memory problem

HAV CQ62 with 32-bit amd processor windows 7. OK came with 4gig RAM.  SYSTEM to CHECK that this gives 4gig ram and the RAM available media 2.99gig. OK so update the 8gig Ram to run faster, but it always has in the area of the SYSTEM memory available is stil 2.99gig. Check the resource monitor and it is much too hardware reserved RAM greater than 5, 000mbites. Don't put the bios to F036 more later still no joy... So makes no difference if ram increass or decrease the maximum value available for use is still not more not less 2.99gig. How can I get this laptop to use more ram. Just won't happen and even went in the bios before and after upgrade it and problem still HAV run out of solutions, tried to change things in bios and tried mapping for ram, but this laptop can not find in the bios like in the series c700... must be a way easier to solve the problem and just ridiculous amount of ram reserved for material that cannot change. I have another laptop cq62 series processor is intel 64-bit win 7 and set at the same level system size of ram and it works well and only left 300 MB of ram reserved for strange material... I even swapped the sims that laptop and put in the earlier one and by the way the 4gig memory probs cq62 model is cq62-115tx single horn well resource monitor Ok AMD PROCESSOR has these numbers:-MATERIAL reserved 5131MB, in COURSE OF USE 1143 MB, updated THE 81 MB, STANBY 923 MB, 913 MB FREE and summarized the AVAILABLE States 1836 MB down caching 101MB, MO 36061 TOTAL, 8192 MB INSTALLED... SO if modified installed 4192 mb or 4gig ratio breaks down, but the MATERIAL RESERVE remains the same... OK if I PUT on 2GIG SIM in the phone starts not at all no matter what so help dilemma Please guys

As long as you have a Windows license key for typing in the prompt, it should work.

If the PC supports the 64-bit installation disk at startup I'm sure that all of the internal components will have 64-bit drivers.  Plug in the main series is the processor. If it is not 64-bit, you can go no further.

You cannot run the disk 64-bit from the desktop. You will have to boot from it.

  • 6 GB installed (3.48 GB usable)

    Pavilion P6-2120

The computer comes with 6 GB of physical RAM installed (DIMM 1 X 4 GB DIMMS 1 X 2 GB)

Originally, I noticed that in the menu system, it has shown memory (RAM) installed 6 GB (1.48 GB usable)

I decided to swap the DIMMs and now it shows installed memory (RAM) 6 GB (3.48 GB usable)

I was unable to find anything in the BIOS to change the amount of memory allocated video or any other way to change the hardware reserved RAM. I've updated the driver for chipset AMD directly from AMD.com but did not find an update of the BIOS for the motherboard.

It would seem that the system can see the 2 slot, but fails to make available in Windows.

    Hello

The system recognizes all of the 6 GB.  There are a few common situations that could cause what you are experiencing.

    1. the memory under MSCONFIG allocation fund is verified and must be unchecked.  You need to open the window RUN, enter MSCONFIG--> Boot--> advanced and make sure that the memory box is disabled.

    2. the AMD APU reserves video memory in advance, but the system automatically redirect some if necessary. Some computers have a bios option to change buffers of UMA, but I do not think that your PC has this option.

    3. the graphics driver is defective. Try to reinstall the original driver from HP.

  • Reserved hardware memory

    Hello

I have 6 GB of RAM and Windows 7 32-bit. When I checked the system information, the RAM show 6 GB but only usable 2.94 GB. I checked the resource monitor and the reserved equipment use 3130 MB so I have 3014 MB left.
    My Question:
    1. Why reserved equipment use so much memory?
    2. Is it possible to reduce hardware reserved memory?

    My Question:

    1. why the reserved equipment use so much memory?

All versions of Windows 32-bit client (not just XP/Vista/7/8) have a
Address 4 GB of space (64-bit versions can use much more). It's the
theoretical upper limit beyond which you cannot go.

But you can't use the whole address space. Even if you have a
Address space of 4 GB, you can only use around 3. 1 GB of RAM. It's
because some of the space is used by the hardware and is not available for
operating system and applications. The amount you can
use varies, depending on what hardware you have installed, but can
range from as little as 2 GB to 3.5 GB. It's usually around
GB 3.1. Your 2.94 GB is just a bit below average.

Note that the hardware is using the space, not the real address
The RAM itself. If you have a larger amount of RAM, the rest of the RAM
goes unused because there is no address to map space to.

    3. some people say, to use more than 4 GB of RAM, I need to install the 64-bit.

    That is right.

Is it possible to use more than 4 GB of RAM in 32-bit?

N ° why do you want. If would you not better
performance depends on what applications run you, but for most people, running
a common range of office applications, there is no improvement.

(The reason that I don't want to install 64-bit because it is not compatible)

Not compatible with what? How do you know?

    Hello

I'm trying to upgrade the memory on my TECRA A10 - 112 PTSB1E (Windows 7 and Server 2008), when I upgrade to 6 GB ram (1 x 4 GB + 1 x 2 GB), there is no problem what so ever (52 MB hardware reserved + 5700 MB useful) Windows.

But when I go to 8 GB of RAM (2 x 4 GB) I get material dedicated to the memory of 4297MB and 3129MB of memory used (under windows) and I can not find how to reduce it to 6 GB levels. The bios sees 8GB, windows detects the 8 GB and the fact CPUID. I tried to update my BIOS on Toshiba support site, but I get "Computer not supported" message when I run the update file, I downloaded at Toshiba.

    Hello

It would be interesting to know which modules of memory you use exactly. You use the noname or high quality, e. g. Kingston modules?

Maybe the modules are not fully compatible, so you should test the other modules.

Also, what program/tool tells you this information on reserved hardware memory? If the BIOS and Windows recognize 8 GB, everything should be ok.

Nice story, but the question is: you use the memory modules live compatible?
In your long announce didn t post part number and manufacturer of your Ram for upgrade.

Is that compatible RAMs will work perfectly and there is nothing you have to change, especially not some options of memory sharing that don t even exist.

    By the way:
4 GB of RAM compatible have part number PA3670U-1M4G. Use this RAM and you won't have any problems, especially BSOD. BSOD is clear evidence that there is compatibility problem.
