  • Guides in Illustrator

    Hi, one of my clients gave me a file with a guide on and Red around the image that I can disable only the visualization. I don't know what kind of guide this is, but the only option I have under guides is to hide or lock this guide. I can't erase it, I can't select it.

    Anyone know what type of guide, it is, or if it's a glimpse of some sort?

    Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Sounds like the guide of the purge, select work plan so that art which is probably mounted on the art and then go to settings of the document and make the settings for the bleeding of '0 '.

  • Angles of construction of the smart guides?

    Hello

    I was reading this article: How to use leaders, networks and guides in Illustrator

    and got to the part about "construction angles.

    I played with the angle values to see what they are but not seen any change in the behavior of the smart guide.

    Other sites did not help me to understand.

    Someone please would shed light "construction angles?

    Thanks in advance

    So the question is: why this works for me and not for you? (Also, I did with the countless times classes!)

    Are commented on?

    Are the Guides of Construction on?

    Do you have an odd guide, like the 17?

    You draw a shape a rectangle and deselect?

    Then go to the line tool. Place your cursor over an anchor point. Smart Guides will tell "Anchor").

    Hold down and drag and look at the ToolTip. When the ScreenTip says "17 °", the starting point of the line will say "Aligner 17 °" and the end will say 'On '.

    I tried to draw a line where he was not related to another form, and it did not work. So look for the balloon "Anchor" before you start make sure that you begin on the anchor. Maybe it's the thing.

    17 ° works with the tool pen, but the angles of degree do not appear in the ToolTip. Therefore know where (17). Then he snaps. So, try first the online tool.

    It works now?

  • guides in 2015 CC look stubby

    Is it just me or are the guides in Illustrator 2015 thicker than before? They seem certainly thicker than InDesign and Photoshop guides - I checked the preferences and it seems there is no control over their weight.

  • How can I add the CS6 Adobe Illustrator type library?

    Hello world

    I'm trying to write a script for Adobe Illustrator by using VBA in Excel.  To do this I am following the Guide Adobe Illustrator scripts, which can be found on the link below.

    http://wwwimages.Adobe.com/www.Adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/DevNet/PDF/Illustrator/Scrip ting/cs6/Illustrator-Scripting-Guide.pdf

    The problem is that I am not able to follow one of the first steps in the process.  Specifically, I can't complete step 3:

    1. in any Microsoft Office application, choose Tools > Macro > Visual Basic Editor.

    2. in the Visual Basic Editor, choose Tools > references.

    3. in the dialog box that appears, select the checkbox for the Adobe Illustrator CS6 typotheque, and click OK.

    I can't finish this stage is because the Adobe Illusterator CS6 typotheque does not appear in the list of available type libraries.

    If you know how to get the type library in this list please can you explain how do for me?

    I appreciate every time and I thank you in advance!

  • How to get the largest possible document area limits?

    Hello!

    I'm trying to improve the treatment of GuideGuide to guides to Illustrator. So far I have not found a way integrated to add guides, so I draw a path, and then set its value true guides. While this works, it has the disadvantage that I need to understand the location of the limit of the guides in addition to the place where I want to place.

    For my example, I use a horizontal guide.

    Looking at how Illustrator handles things, it seems to add guides within the max and max left right of the document. Remember, it is possible to place objects even further beyond these limits, but they are the limits of Illustrator watch visually. This is the behavior that I am trying to imitate.

    So far I have not found a scripted way to extract these limits of Illustrator, but my test has shown so far that the width and height max of document is 16383pts. You would think it would be as simple as placing a border guide to 0 and 16383, but the origin of the document seems to be at the Center. One would then think that (16383/2) *-1 would be the edge of the document, but this also does not turn to be true. So far, in my tests at the origin of the document is fluid, sometimes in the Middle, sometimes offbeat. I tried incorporating the pageOrigin document, but also proved not to be useful. I'm even taking into account the differences in plan of work/paper Guide and have still found no obvious solution.

    Am I missing some obvious details that can be used to pull these values from Illustrator? This looks like something that would be relatively easy to do.

  • Excerpt from gradient as STROKE

    I'm experimenting with a direction of design and I was hoping that I can take a form that has a gradient and expand the gradients in the shape as the individual contours, for example, if is a linear gradient that results should come out, if it's possible, gently, for a radial gradient, simply radial colorful traits?

    If this can be done in illustrator, maybe good scripts, although I'm not well informed with a guide to Illustrator scripts, only partially with Photoshop, if I could get help if someone has the time, I would be very happy about that, If that's my only direction to accomplish this design direction?

    Try to make a mixture between different colored contours and spread the mixture to get the individual contours.

  • Help crazy script

    I created a group of 40 different icons (phone, star, diamond, etc.) and I need to apply 150 colors to each of these icons then save each icon individually as a PNG with a file name of < ICONNAME - COLORNAME.png >. These 150 colors have already been defined with the names of individual custom colors in a color group, that I created called "MyColors".

    I understood the part of export PNG of javascript (and this script is available in every sense) but my scripting skills suck, and I'm not sure what I need to do to get there. I read the Guide to Illustrator scripts (I lost pretty quick) and I did some research for scripts, but without a bit of luck. I thought the best way to address the issue was to put each of the different icons (phone, star, diamond, etc.) on a single layer, each in a different illustrator file and then run the script on each file to automatically generate the colors and layers I need within each file. I could then run a script on each export file PNG. Or is there a better way to create these png?

    I know it's asking a lot and I hate to ask, but I'll lose my mind if I have to do it by hand. Can someone help me with this script? I'd be happy to throw some money your way (or give it to the charity of your choice)!

    I'm on Illustrator CS5/CS6...

    1. When you add a new layer, the layers.length changed, and "var oldLayer = layers [i];" will always point to the wrong layer. If you must store the original layers in an array first.

    2. for (var k = 0; k)< oldlayer.pathitems;="" k++)="" should="" be="" for="" (var="" k="0;" k="">< oldlayer.pathitems.length;="">

    3 oldLayer.name = oldLayer.name;?

    4 nLayer.pathItems [k] .selected = true; In the script you need not first select object to change color.

    So, here you go:

    var docRef = app.activeDocument;
    with(docRef) {
        var grp = swatchGroups.getByName('Rob');
        var grpList = grp.getAllSwatches();
        var originalLayerLength = layers.length;
        var oldLayers = [];
        for (var i = 0; i < originalLayerLength; i++) {
            oldLayers[i] = layers[i];
        }
        for (var i = 0; i < oldLayers.length; i++) {
            var oldLayer = oldLayers[i];
            oldLayer.visible = true;
            for (var j = 0; j < grpList.length; j++) {
                var nLayer = layers.add();
                nLayer.name = oldLayer.name + '-' + grpList[j].name;
                for (var k = 0; k < oldLayer.pathItems.length; k++) {
                    oldLayer.pathItems[k].duplicate(nLayer, ElementPlacement.PLACEATBEGINNING).fillColor = grpList[j].color;
                }
            }
        }
    }

    I can't test because I don't have a document that you have.

  • Quick question for a beginner

    Hello world

    I spent about half a day looking for what I want. I read the guide to Illustrator scripts and browsed forums but I can't find an answer so here's my question:

    I have an Illustrator file.

    I have 3 layers in this file called "L", "M" and "S" (for size).

    In each layer, there are two elements of text with something written inside. They are always named 'Name' and 'number '. I created everything using my mouse and keyboard, no script.

    It looks like:

    L (layer)

    Name (text)

    Number (text)

    M (layer)

    Name (text)

    Number (text)

    S (layer)

    Name (text)

    Number (text)

    I want to choose a specific name in the M layer, for example. I can't find a way to do...

    myDoc = app.activeDocument var
    myLayer = myDoc.layers var [1] / * myLayer is "M" * /.

    I read that it is possible to access the textframe wanted to help: myDoc.textFrames [2] / * 2 refers to the third text element within the framework of related texts document. */

    My problem is that I can have a big file with tons of other executives of related texts, so I would get called a 'name' in the layer of "M" without knowing his rank in the frames of related texts document.

    I tried var myText = myDoc.myLayer.textFrame but obviously myLayer didn't linked text frames, it only works with documents, or I missed something.

    I hope that you guys understand my problem.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi totom, welcome to the forum

    Layers have linked text frames, you were very close, here is the syntax to do what you want

    var idoc = app.activeDocument;
    var ilayer = idoc.layers["M"];
    var iframe = ilayer.textFrames["Name"];

    iframe.selected = true;

  • Guides and preference of grid does not properly in Illustrator CC 2015?

    I have my preferences set for the guides show as dots, but they show only that the solid lines. I can change the color in the preferences, so I know they work at least a little, but all the old files that I opened, and dragging new guides guides does appear as solid lines, even if the preference is marked by dotted lines. Everyone knows this, of course, quite minor problem?

    Solution:

    Turn off the power GPU Performance in preferences. Guides (and other things) suddenly work as expected.

    Wait for the patches of Adobe Illustrator and try again.
