H & R Block at home

Having problems reinstalling H & R Block at home 2009. Get the error code 1935 and a long string of code. They have talked to the people at H & R Block, had me create another admin account and reload the software. Still no luck. They suggested that I try this site to see if any help is available. The program has worked for about two weeks, and then I got a "side-by-side" error when I tried to run the program. I uninstalled the program and were not able to reinstall it from. Any help would be appreciated.

I gave up and called H & R Block for a refund. Tax Turbo installed and it works well. They don't seem too upset that I was calling to get my money back. They probably many other problems with the software and your money is probably the easiest solution. Guess that they don't mind losing a loyal customer for 7 years either. Their loss!

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forums.

According your description of issue I see that when you try to download the program of Ohio State, you get an error saying unable to connect ERROR SSL: bad server certificate.

Could you please answer these questions to identify the issue?

    1. what browser you use to download the program of Ohio State?

    2. you are using the proxy settings?

This problem can occur if Internet Explorer does not recognize the authority of the root of the SSL Web site, and the Proxy Automatic configuration file is configured to return another Proxy Server to the client. When Internet Explorer uses a proxy table and can't match the authority root servers secured with one local store, Internet Explorer adds internally the proxy used to created the connection to the list of server BadProxy in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer then tries to communicate with the proxy in the table and if the next server is unavailable, Internet Explorer attempts to locate the server, and if this is not successful, it generates an error of navigation.

If you use Internet Explorer, please try the steps in the following link and check if that works:

  • No permission to write to the directory. (see WinFileWriterImpl::open())

I installed H & R Block 2010 Home Premium on windows vista. I lived a kind of attack via the web, on my machine. After fixation by restoring to a previous restore point, when I click on the application of H & R to launch I get this:

No authorization in writing to the directory.

    (see WinFileWriterImpl::open())

I completely removed the app and reinstalled. I keep getting the same message every time I try to start the application. I think there must be a problem with windows vista.

    • I had the H & R block to introduce a brand new facility, did not work.
    • I installed to a new directory, opposed to the default location of request. did not work.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Tried all the foregoing.  Did not work.  Spent 2 hours on the phone with support on R & H-block (they were VERY helpful and great to deal with).

Finally, here is what worked for me.

Copy (backup) your personal data in the file in a new directory.

Uninstall the software (Federal and State if you have both).

In the "Program Files" folder, delete the folder "HRBlock2010".

In the "Program Data" folder (this is what I was missing at the top for me), go to the folder "TaxCut.  In that folder another folder is labeled "2010".  Delete the folder '2010 '.

    Reinstall the software.

Double-click the shortcut and load your personal data file... Fact.

  • Everytime I open Firefox I get a message: "an attempt to change your home page has been blocked" and firefox crashes

Everytime I open Firefox I get a message: "an attempt to change your home page has been blocked" and firefox crashes.
I unintalled (on my MAC) and reinstalled twice. Makes no difference. Any suggestions?

Could you try starting Firefox in Safe Mode? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

Does not work if Firefox: Hold down the option key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

    and OK reboot.

Two scenarios: A small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not update).

    Any improvement?

While you are in Mode without failure, you could copy a list of your extensions and paste them into an answer? The best place for this is the support information page - either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

Scroll down to the Extensions section, and then select from there until the end of the following table with the mouse and copy. Then paste into a response. It may seem a bit messy but don't worry, we're used to it.

  • Since the new update of firefox, I lost my pop up blocker and impossible to reinstall, my home page to open when I click on the n of the firefox browser cannot set

Since the new update of firefox, I can't put my home page, it opens to a blank screen, I also lost my pop up blocker and I can't reinstall restore my computer to an earlier point and still can not set my homepage and restore my pop-up blocker. I tried all the suggestions and I still have this problem. Can you help me or do I uninstall mozilla firefox.

    Then:
Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from mozilla.org office (or choose the download for your operating system and language on this page) and save the file to install it on your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (or open the Firefox menu

      Click the close button

      ).

    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use an uninstaller to third parties as part of this process. This could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. They can be retrieved easily unless they have been backed up on an external device! See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

For the past two weeks, whenever I connect to gmail or iGoogle home page I get a message from avast! Antivirus (free version) saying that it has detected a malicious site.
