H50-55 - is my motherboard SATA 2 or 3

I have a new Lenove H50-55 (just a couple of weeks) and I wanted to add an SSD to it.

I would like to know if my SATA connections are SATA 2 or 3.

I downloaded an application called CPU - Z that tells me that the number of brand and model of the Board of Directors but (AFAIK) don't tell my if it is SATA 2 or 3.

What I know by using CPU - Z is that my motherboard is a Lenovo Bantry CRB 31900058 STD

Maybe you know?

Although there is no mention in the datasheet for the other model that the registrant has the latest connectors high speed, Crucial site reports that it is SATA 3.

I think the card is defective.  Based on many forums of users and sites to return product I went with a new SATA DVD burner (Samsung).  a perfectly worked in my Win 7 system.  It was cheap and I should have started with a new drive instead of try to reuse an old DVD burner.

  • SSD Raid 1 on the PowerEdge 100 motherboard Sata ports

    Hello

I have a PowerEdge T100 with a Raid 1 SAS. I want to upgrade the server with 2 SSD connected to the Sata ports directly on the motherboard. They would Raid 1.

Do you know if this is possible with the T100 PE?

    Hello

I can't say with certainty. It is theoretically possible, but here are some things to consider:

    1. I show that we validated a SSD for the T100
    2. I do not show that the T100 is supported by the AHCI. Better SSDS feature with AHCI
    3. Although the ICH9R chipset is capable of RAID I do not show that it is a feature of the version installed in the T100 system map. You will need to run the RAID software within the operating system if you want a RAID array.

Another thing to note is that the SATA ports are locked when a RAID SAS controller is present. Some of the ports are unavailable if this controller is present in the system.

  • Workstation HP xw6200 motherboard: connecting HDD SATA 2 hp 08B8h

    Hello

I want to connect a second hard drive to my XW6200.  On Tuesday, wb2001 kindly gave me the login procedure:

"The manual shows that you can have 2 Sata Serial ATA drives. See the manual.
Refer to article 69 pg 19 and 20 for the Sata data headers. Refer to pg 100
    for the hard drive Bay.
The PSU has 2 Sata power cables, so all you need is a Sata data cable.
    Just imitate existing lead. »

Unfortunately, when I tried to put it into practice, I discovered that Item # 19 of the SATA was used by my CD/DVD drive (it could be question No. 20, I'm not sure). I would like to know what are the options that I have now.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hello

I see that your motherboard has a PCIe slot - x 8 on this subject. Is currently available? If so, you could purchase a controller card SATA PCIe - x 8 and that connect your extra hard drive.

If you don't have an available PCI slot I recommend connect the DVD player to the PCI SATA controller card (you need to buy) and plug your HARD drive into the motherboard SATA slot currently used by DVD.

Another alternative is to buy an external SATA USB2.0 Converter and use your HARD drive as an external drive instead.

    Thank you

  • No satellite P770-111 no SATA cable to connect the 2nd HARD drive

    Hello!

I bought by Satellite P770-111 3 days and was hoping to insert another HARD drive that I had in my old laptop.
OK, I opened the plastic cover on the bottom side of the laptop and there are 2 slots of HDD (2.5 ") but a single HARD disk.
A HARD disk that is currenty in the laptop's big 500 GB. I would like to install another, but there is a problem:
There is no cable to connect it to the motherboard SATA.

Basically, there are 2 slots hard drive but only a connection interface. Could you please tell me how could I install a 2nd HARD drive?

    Thank you in advance!

    Damjan

    > there is no cable to connect it to the motherboard SATA.
The fact is that not all laptops of the same series of notebook models are equipped with the same motherboard and controllers of same.
This means that even if there is a second HARD-drive Bay, you will not be able to use a 2nd HARD drive. You know

The chassis is the same in all models of laptops but there are different motherboards and not all supported 2nd controller.

  • Pavilion a1700n: expansion of SATA for Pavilion a1700n

How can I add a SATA drive to my desktop? I opened the computer and tried to juggle the SATA drive in the Bay, but do not have enough access to fix the 4 small screws. I tried to open a SIDE PANEL for GREEN, who seemed to be locking drive Bay. After reading the Pg 17 of the guide, I will try to identify the open with a screwdriver. Next problem: I found a SATA connector spare but a single POWER cable which is already set on the HARD disk. Is there an another power cable? I'll keep looking, but it must also attach to the motherboard - where?   There is of course the strap connectors master slave, but these do not have SATA connectors. When I get the above with your help, is there any necessary reconfiguration or MS 7 automatically detects the new SATA? Can I use this 256 GB SATA as an extension of memory because I'm already maxed out at 6 GB?  Or am I recorded to use as a shadow to the top?

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First of all - the motherboard SATA profits are found down in the lower image irght on THIS PAGE.

second - the power connector can be a bit harder to find.  If there is no other power SATA cables, then maybe an adapter will help you.  If there is a spare Molex power connector, you will need an adapter SIMILAR TO THE.  If not, then maybe A SPLITTER would be an option.

Third - SATA drives should not normally the master/slave settings.

As long as the ordinary reader works, then the added disc must be considered as additional storage space.  Assuming that MS 7 means that Windows 7, then it should recognize the drive.  It may take formatted to be usable.

    Hello

NewEgg.com or most electronics stores like Best Buy should have SATA data cables.  A cable SATA III about 12 "long should suffice.  In addition, wiil you need 4 x HP Compaq blue screw 6-32 SFF Hard Drive isolation mounting Guide-450712-001.  Review the results of Google for 450712-001.

  • To install the new eSATA / SATA to USB 2.0 hard drive in an external enclosure but the computer does not recognize the drive in disk management

I have an old computer with installed Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and 3.  I bought a new hard drive and also a new external hard drive for her case.  I have correctly installed the hard drive inside the enclosure, and I think that I have installed correctly (in the motherboard SATA port) eSATA port, according to the manufacturer's instructions.  I plugged everything... first eSATA, then power and power switch.  I restarted the computer, and I chose to analyze disks in disk management.  However, the new drive is not recognized.  The SATA port on the motherboard could not work or did I buy the bad, perhaps, hard drive enclosure for my system?  Or something related to the software?  Thank you.

    Hi Donnadream,

Connect the hard drive to another port and check if that makes a difference

Step 1: You can follow the steps mentioned in the article below, which deals with a similar question

A computer that is running Windows XP cannot detect a USB, an Apple iPod flash drive or an external hard disk drive

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Step 2: Download and install the latest drivers from the chipset of the computer or the manufacturer of the motherboard and check

Step 3: Hard disk can be turned off in the BIOS; You may want to enable

Important: Change BIOS (Basic input output system) /semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

If the problem persists, it is a hardware problem, contact the manufacturer of the hard drive for a more specialized help

  • What for new ssd sata port?

I was wondering which of the 4 ports on the motherboard sata should I choose for my new ssd, there are 4 ports sata with different colors.

    System:

    HP Pavilion Elite H8-1140sc

If you plan to use the SSD drive for a boot drive, then after cloning the C: drive current, use the port that your current boot drive is in. If you are Ingo to use it for storage, then place it in any empty port.

    Best regards

  • Support SATA 3 (6 Gb/s) on a HPE - 570 t.

I just buy a desktop HPE - 570 t and would add a 510 Intel SSD as boot drive.

I understand the motherboard in my new PC is a Petagron (Cleveland) with an Intel H67 chipset and that this chipset supports up to two SATA 3 (6 Gb/s), and 4-port SATA 2 (3 Gb/s).

    Two quick questions:

1 is one of the 4 SATA ports on my motherboard SATA 3? If so, which?

2 Intel has a reminder of the high profile of his SB chipsets earlier this year - are the chipset on the free current mothers of previous problems?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Read the specification again.  They indicate SATA 3 G (3 GB). This means that SATA II.

The OCZ Vertex 3 seems to be top dog for SSD (excluding the SSD PCI - E).

  • R720 can I connect drive sas/sata hard without controller card?

I have a r720 without raid card.  When I plug a ssd or disc of 15 k / 10 k sas on the hotswap backplane, chassis recognizes the drive is connected (I get an orange light and lcd to alert that the disc is removed when I go out).  However, the bios and the operating system does not recognize any disks hotswap (they see only the optical drive connected to the ports on the motherboard sata.

Do I need a controller card to use drives connected on the backplane, or is it possible to use backplane without controller card?  I didn't need raid functionality.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Shane

    ntshane
Do I need a controller card to use drives connected on the backplane, or is it possible to use backplane without controller card?  I didn't need raid functionality.

Yes, you must have a controller connected to the bottom of basket. If you have purchased the system without a RAID controller should have a SAS cable that goes from the backplane to the slot of controller S110 chipset on the system board.

You can use the S110 SATA controller on board for communication with backplane. Well, there are limits to the S110 controller, so may not suit your needs. You can probably buy LSI 9207 if you want readers to run in a non-RAID. The other options are a H710 PERC; which you can set the readers to the single drive RAID 0 s. In this State, they function as drives no RAID. You can also get a H310. The H310 supports the RAID mode, but we have added a few features to the H310 who do not find in previous versions of the card. In doing so, it reduced performance when operating in a mode non-RAID.

The reason why I say that you'll probably want another controller than the S110 is because you mentioned that you have SAS disks. The S110 is a single SATA controller. In addition, the S110 is supported up to 4 discs.

To access the BIOS RAID make sure the S110 is turned on in THE system BIOS. In the BIOS, go to SATA settings. In the menu choose the RAID mode. It will turn on the S110 controller. You can configure the drives in the BIOS S110 when booting with the CTL R. I do not know what operating system, you perform the installation, but the S110 is compatible with Windows.
