Just for the record...

At present the time Windows 7 SP1 is not a host or guest for VMware Desktop product operating system support , and there has been numerous reports of issues after applying SP1 in Windows 7.

I don't know if this will help or not, but look: Re: VMware Workstation 7.1.3 and Windows 7 SP1

  • Web client to modify the virtual machine settings

    We have several VMware environments that I help manage. So that we can train the junior members on the use of VMware, we have a few stand-alone hosts running v5.5u1.

    One of my colleagues copied a VM built with 10 Workstation to this host and received an error message on the VMDK becoming invalid. They tried to solve the problem by getting the host to upgrade the virtual machine. The virtual machine appears now as being "Version VM: vmx-10.

    The network for this virtual computer is set on connects don't not to put under tension, so we have no network on this virtual machine. If we right-click the virtual machine in vSphere Client and choose change settings, we receive this message:

    "You cannot use vSphere Client to change the settings of the virtual version 10 or higher machines.

    Use the vSphere Client Web to change the settings for this virtual machine".

    I know that the Web Client for stand-alone hosts was not available on 5.1 and I guess that's the same thing with 5.5. Is this correct? My attempts to try to load a page like this fails.

    Y at - there a command I can use 'downgrade' the version of virtual machine to any where I can change the settings with vSphere Client?

    It's not much you can do that and then get stuck without being able to change the settings for the virtual machine. Surely, they could detect if the host is connected to a vCenter and only enable this option if it is... or warn before you perform the upgrade!

    Thank you

    Neil

    You can simply edit the vmx file and edit vmx - 10-vmx - 9.

After creation of the Virtual Machine in an Esxi host, when I try to picture mount the ISO for the guest operating system, option browse is not highlighted, why is this so, and is not for the administrator or root user, this problem happens for the normal user, happens because of all the rules of host-level? If its happening because of the rule in ESXi settings, please guide me how to change it?

    Converter 4.0.1 can hotclone some Linux distributions when the target is ESX.

  • Hyper-V inside the VMWare virtual machine

    We are eager to try NxTop VDI virtual computer (www.virtualcomputer.com). The center of NxTop management software requires Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit with HyperV. We don't have an additional physical host to install Server 2 k 8 with HyperV just for this test. Has anyone already installed server 2 k 8 WITH HyperV inside a VMWare VM before? I tried and windows installs fine but when I go on installing HyperV it says that it cannot install HyperV because the processor is not in the current VT. I know it's an intel VT cpu and I made sure it was enabled in the BIOS. Any ideas?

    Even if your physical processor supports VT, virtual CPU virtual machine does not work. VT is not spent to virtual machines.

  • Flash media server 3 on VMWare virtual machine

    Someone know a FMS 3 can run smoothly on a machine virtual vmware? If so, is there any condition must be aware? Thanks for any adivse.

    We do not "officially" support the FMS under a virtual machine running, and I do not recommend the use of a virtual machine for a production server. Developers here systematically to use VMWare to test, then you can have some success using a virtual machine to test your applications.

    The biggest problem we have encountered (so far!) using VMWare's virtual machine clock tends to be very nervous compared to a dedicated machine. This Jig can lead to variations in the different operations based on the clock, interpreted by the FMS, particularly in buffer and media data.

    There is also a Kaspersky solution, although I can't see offhand what it's called.

  • Resource memory Virtual Machine settings

    Hello

    This question is about memory VM resource arrangements.

    Here's the situation:

    Virtual machine has 8 GB of memory made available.

    Reservation of memory is 4 GB.

    Memory limit is 6 GB.

    Difference between the limit and the available memory is 2 GB.

    My question is, when the memory becomes in short supply and this virtual machine is in competition with other virtual machines for memory resources, use only his actions for fighting the 2 GB of physical (difference between booking and limit) memory and use a swap file for the rest of 2 GB (difference between the limit and the available memory)?

    Thank you

    Steve

    That's right the ESX host will use the by the VM pagefile for the additional 1 GB - which will affect negatively - VM eprformance

  • LPT1 in the hardware Manager, but not in the virtual machine settings. Parallel port software unable to find LPT. Windows 7, 64-bit and XP virtual

    Hallo,

    the forum is full of questions similar to mine and everything seems complete without useful answers some time early last year. I would like to give a try today to see if I get a solution.

    Have Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit and installed XP mode to be able to use the chip programming hardware (GALEP-III), which is connected via the Parallel Port. Downloaded XP mode later than yesterday (24.02.2011) Microsoft.

    In the XP box, the LPT1 port appears in the hardware Manager. But it does not appear in the settings for the XP mode. The Galep software starts just fine, but can't find the PARALLEL port.

    As written above, there are many people who have the same problem and seem to have gotten no solution. One piece of advice I found was to modify the VMC

    LPT1 (378 h-37Fh)

    1

    The above did not work. I think it was for a different version of XP-mode.

    Then there was advice on LPT need 378 h-37Fh. It's fine with my pc.

    Then, there was a Council to stop the 'Print Spool' Service on the host pc. I tried in vain.

    So, if there is a solution to my problem, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

    (Note: I'm not interested to connect a printer.) I have an IC programming material that can connect only through a parallel port. It also comes with a security dongle. GALEP III).

    Good bye.

    Have you tried in this more specific Forum?

  • Access to the BlackBerry through the USB port on the virtual machine VMWare

    I have my development environment configuration in VMWare virtual machine, and I have no problems of deployment of BlackBerry applications on a simulator that runs as another virtual machine. The problem starts when I try deploying to the device via the USB port. The address is assigned when the mode of development on the device is not accessible from the VM, but only from my host, who do me any good, since as I said my IDE is in the virtual machine. A way to solve this problem? I can still deploy to the device via wi - fi (which is btw access via different ip - one given by the network) by this can sometimes be slow depending on the strength of the signal, etc, so I prefer to be able to deploy via the USB port.

    Just in case anyone has the same problem, how to activate must, VMWare Player click on the USB icon (to the right) and choose to disconnect from the host. Connecting the USB port at the prompt. Stupid...

  • Is it possible to programmatically retrieve the MAC address of a virtual machine VMware

    Can anyone suggest to programmatically retrieve the MAC address of a VMware virtual machine.

    I need a code for the above features.

    Corrected in Hyper-V to VMware

    Now that I have a code in front of me, you can try essentially this:

    // MAC Variable
    string MACAddress;

    // Get Config Info (hardware)
    vmConfigInfo = (VirtualMachineConfigInfo)myAPI.getProperties(vmRef, new String[1] {"config"});

    //Iterate through devices
    foreach (VirtualDevice vDv in vmConfigInfo.hardware.device)
    {
        try
        {
            VirtualEthernetCard mycard = (VirtualEthernetCard)vDv;
            MACAddress = mycard.macAddress;
        }
        catch
        {
        }
    }

    Basically what's happening hear, you are pulling all the pieces of virtual hardware and iterate through them. If the piece is a network card, copy the following code will be able to cast an and pull up on the Mac. Otherwise, the cast fails and he is going to move. If you have multiple network cards, you want to add the mac to an array of strings, or something to keep account of more than one.

    This code assumes that you have connected and you have a way to make the configuration of the virtual machine property. The function 'getProperty' in the present code referring to my own function, not one in VMWare. If you don't know how to do this, just post back here and I know there are examples of pages out there anyone can post to explain this part.

  • To access the Sim Playbook on the other machine or virtual machine?

    I set up the Playbook dev environment in a virtual machine (MS Virtual PC if it is important) and encountered problems trying to connect to the Simulator, which is of course an another VM.  I guess there will be the same problems you are trying to run the Simulator on one machine other than the machine of dev, regardless of if the dev machine is a virtual machine.

    Anyway, I can't start the trainer inside my dev VM. I guess it would work, and in fact it doesn't (even if the error is a strange not found error). Instead I tried to run the SIM on the true operating system of the box.

    The machine has an IP address in the 192.168.0.X subnet and VM Dev has also received an IP address on the same subnet to the router. However, the IP of the SIM is a 192.168.153.X. I tried affecting 255.255.0.0 subnet mask right on the Dev of VM and it still does not work. I also couldn't find any way to change the network settings on the Simulator hoping to move it to the subnet 0.

    Has anyone got a configuration like this work? If so, there is advice on what config change?

    Bill

    I'm currently under this configuration with the development environment in a separate VM (Windows7 Enterprise) and the Simulator playbook in another virtual machine, both on the same machine.

    To make this work as well virtual machines had have their network in "Bridged" mode configuration

    To configure your virtual machine, assuming you are using VMware Player as I am, in the VMware Player menu bar, click on the tab drop-down 'Virtual Machine', select "Virtual Machine Settings... ».

    In the tab "Hardware", select the device of the "network card".

    Change the network connection to open and activate the option "reproduce the physical network connection state.

    Click OK and restart your virtual machine.

    Once this has been done for both, discover the IP address of the Simulator and notes that it has changed. This IP address allows to load your applications from the development of VM.
