hard disc specification

Hello

First of all, I want to know if the hard drive of my HP Pavilion m6 - 1084ca can be fitted with a drive hard toshiba inside? Because I went with my HP Pavilion m6 - 1084ca to technical assistance and I think they changed my hard drive without my permission, I opened it and it s a Toshiba hard drive. I also entered the site of HP CA and have put my product number, entered 'Product Information', then 'specifications', and the only thing it says on my HD is "1 TB 5400 RPM hard drive HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive protection! I want to know which model it is and the brand, like samsung, toshiba, HP, etc.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really don't know if possible to a HP Pavilion it s come with a Toshiba HD or it must be accompanied by a HP HD.

Sorry about the errors as well, English isn´t my mother tongue.

Thanks in advance

Hello

HP does not their personal computer HARD disk (that is, desktop computers, laptops,...) many of them use Toshiba HDD. HP can also use other vendoes such as HDS, Seagate can be WD or Samsung. Again, HP uses other suppliers of HARD drive for its personal computers, could be 99% of them.

Kind regards.

    Hello

As mentioned above, the laptop came with the 4200 RPM HARD drive but you can also use a HARD drive that supports a higher value. The 5400 RPM is possible.

Portable memory modules also support the DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300).

  • Tecra 9100 - startup of HARD disc is not possible

    Hello

I have a tecra 9100 that is not booting at the moment. When I turn it on I get the Tosh start screen and I can choose a boot device if I want to. All that I choose (HARD/CD disc) all I get is the flashing at the top left cursor.

I got out the HARD drive and tried to start a CD/DVD but that doesn't work either. Also I can't get into the BIOS, I tried to do an upgrade via a bootable CD, but that no longer works.

    Cheers for any help

    Dear customer,

Welcome to the Support Forum HP and we are happy to help you.

Looks like you are not able to start the operating system on your laptop.

We will surely help you with that.

According to the error message that you posted it is a hardware problem and drive hard need to be replaced

Please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP would replace the failed hard disk drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

You can also check your warranty here to check the status of the guarantee

Back up any personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.

  • Transfer of license of Windows Vista on a hard disc nine

Hi all, I have a laptop HP that came with Windows Vista pre-installed. The hard drive failed (confirmed by running diagnostic BIOS) and I buy a new one today. My question is, how do I get my installation of Windows and the license on the new hard drive? My laptop came not with all drives I know (probably because it has a recovery partition).

In addition, the sticker on the base of the PC has faded with time, and I can't do the license number. Can it be retrieved by MS?

    Thank you

    Matt Harris

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Normally, you don't have the product key with the manufacturer of recovery discs.

  • HP 635 Hard Disc 1 test failed. Disc 1 quick (303) 1 disk full (305)

I have a laptop HP laptop computer 635, which seemed 2 crushed hv. Now evry time I turn it on n wait 2 open windows, it does not open on the contrary he wants me 2 press "esc" n, that is when it brings the system diagnostics. Now tried to launch all tests, including the global test, but all he says is that hard drive 1 is defective so I need to insert a disc of the windows operating system 7. Have now be tempting, but it doesn't show all of the options on the disc. What can I do? Help please

    Hello

Error 303 and 305 codes are respectively the Self Test short and long drive failure and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  It is also compatible with the inability to see the HARD drive when starting your installation disc.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

    Kind regards

  • After that hard disc erase and carbonite restored, can not find bookmarks

I had to have my hard drive erased after catching a virus. I have backup Carbonite. After Carbonite downloads, I reinstalled Firefox. The bookmarks bar (history, bookmarks, etc.) has disappeared. I went to the Options - toolbars - check the bookmarks bar. It is controlled. View Bookmarks Toolbar is checked.

How can I get my old favorites return?

Copy one of the files lxufr718.default\bookmarkbackups to your desktop (or another location, you can easily reach) & then go to firefox > bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore > choose file... and navigate to the file that you just saved in the front step.

  • HARD disc deleted - how do I reinstall / restore system

    Hello

I tried to restore my laptop to factory State, but the failure modes, complete restoration and partial restoration keep my files of the tool. He said something about missing files to go forward. So I chose the third option, called a something... HARD drive recovery that takes several hours and erases everything... that I didn't know, so now my phone is completely empty, when I start it says "Controls the media" (failure) so I guess that there is absolutely nothing to read on the HARD drive.

    My question is,
should I install a normal copy of windows and download all dirvers required subsequently, or there is no CD or file I could get Toshiba so I can restore everything to normal?

Cause I guess the laptop doesn't have any more requests recovery or any of the applications that you run when you turn it on by clicking on '0' or 'F8 '...

    Thank you

    Adrian

Not sure this subject, but you can recover lost files from HDD with hepatitis of specialized software

  • Update hard disc on Satellite L350 - 10L

    Hello

Anyone has improved their Satellite L350 - 10L for one SSD hard drive and if so, have you noticed a difference and the big question, was easy?

    Thank you
    Chris

    Hello Chris

Very long ago I had Satellite L300 and this series is known for me.
At that time I didn't even think about these updates.
The Satellite L Series notebooks are machines of low budget and hardware configuration is not one that suits.
In other words, they are designed for daily activities. I can understand that you may want to increase the performance of your hardware, but my personal opinion is that the SSD is not the best solution. In my opinion you should not spend a lot of money for upgrades. Memory improve maximum and that s.

What do you think of all this?

  • Tecra T8000: How do I copy the file vmm32.vxd hard disc to disc

    Hi all!

I have here my father-Lawa´s T8000. The operating system (win 98) seems to be messed up, it will start only the message that the vmm32.vxd file required for running windows and the lack of Ista´s.

I found help on the microsoft home page that says I should extract from the original in dos mode win98 cd, but I have no idea witch letter corresponds to the cd-rom drive... Can I change the A:, B: and c: everithing else like D:, E: and so on Wona´t work?

I'm also a bit confused what it Wonta´t start of the (original)? Win98 cd. In the Bios boot priority is CD-disk hard - ect.

But it does not start on my xp home cd!
    Any ideas?

If you want to boot from the recovery of Win98 CD you must first load the accompanying disk.
This floppy can be found on the Toshiba driver page. After downloading and unpacking you should read the Readme for more details.

In DOS mode, it is possible that the HARD drive or the CD/DVD drive does not use the same letters as in the mentioned operating system. You can check the contents of the data carrier with dir command BACK.

But if you are a beginner and do some many experiences I would recommend using the recovery CD.

PS: The Toshiba Recovery CD is not the same as the original Windows CD and so I don t think you can find the file on the delivered CD of Tosh and will be able to copy it.

  • PSAJOE satellite A300 - cannot remove the external HARD disc

    Hello

I have portable adjustable 300 (PSAJOE).
    I can't remove the external hard drive (Toshiba USB2 {80 GB}).

Whenever I try to remove the device it just hangs. I use windows vista Home premium.
Flah interesting little player with 2 GB capicty works ok and easily removable by simple click.

    Help, please.
    Thank you
    Amer

    Hello

Maybe you should first check if there is no access to all the files that are stored on external HARD drive

I put t know how it works with your external HARD drive, but if I want to remove my HARD drive safely the new window opens and I get a USB mass storage device called option.

    If I mark this USB mass storage device and press STOP then a new window opens and I get 3 different devices;
    -USB mass storage device
    -Generic volume
    -USB HDD device

If I score the first two options then my HARD drive crashes but if I choose the last of them then I can remove the HARD drive safely

  • Update hard disc on Satellite L20

    Hi all

I would like to change the hard drive of my Satellite L20-260...
I installed a hard MK4026GAX drive, I would like to replace it with a bigger... by taking a peek on the internet I found hard drives as MK8032GAX...

Yes, 80 is the size (80 GB) but 32 what means? Can someone tell me is this hard disk can replace my old (one broken too) a?

    Hello

I put t knows what means the 32 at the end of the number, but the disk HARD of MK8032GAX supports Ultra DMA/100 (ATA-6) interface.

To my knowledge the Satellite L20 260 supports serial ATA (SATA) interface.
You must use the s HARD drive that supports this and don t buy HARD drive that supports IDE interface because you will not be able to connect it to the laptop.

In addition, the compatibility of the BIOS is very important. In many cases, the BIOS cannot recognize the HARD drive because of the large size.
According to your post, the laptop supports 40 GB HDD s. In my opinion the 80 GB should work and should be recognized.

I recommend to visit the merchant of HARD drive in your area and ask for compatible HARD disk. Maybe you would be able to test it in the shop.
