hard drive caddy

I have an EVO D300V and want to add a 2nd hard drive. can you point me in the right direction to get my hands on the correct caddy?

Hello

You don't need a caddy. Currently if has no room for a second HDD:

http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?calledBy= & docid = emr_na-c00326227-4 & docLocale =

You can use the second STRANGE for a HARD drive Bay, the Setup is similar to the following article:

Good luck.

    Hello

When I got my new laptop the first think I did was to install an SSD.

I don't usually use my optical Bay so I am planning to install a HARD drive enclosure.
Someone has already done this, and if so have you had any problems? Also, what are data transfer speeds?

    Thank you

I can't tell you if this extra HARD drive caddy will work in the Satellite Pro C50 series STRANGE Bay - A - 1 K 9 because that depends on the support of the BIOS and the controller.

I read about these updates several times in different forums and to be stone, sometimes it is possible, but in many cases, the BIOS does not recognize this drive caddy HARD and laptop does not start.

In the case where you have already tried these updates, please share the details with us!
I think it would be very interesting for others, if this update worked correctly.

  • Tecra W50 - cannot start when installing the second hard drive (caddy).

    Hi all
    I have a Tecra W50 PT640A 04103NN1.
When a second hard drive is installed in the Bay of DVD player cell phone will try to boot from the drive bay, not the internal drive
This second drive has no operating system installed and so the fails to start.

If I hit F12 at startup and select HARD drive, while the machine starts correctly. That is starts on the main hard drive.
Change the order of boot in the BIOS makes all the difference; He will always try to boot from the second drive bay drive first.

All known A it works correctly?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Doppelfrog,
I had the same problem with my W50, got my HDD caddy a few days ago.
You have a bit of luck to fix this problem?
I believe that the Bios for this laptop is not developed to serve both drives (like the computer I had that one drive Bay) and it is not possible to prioritize the witch THAT HDD should start first...

Until you find HDD caddy put the HARD drive in place and fix it a bit with aluminum foil, just to be sure it will not move during the use of laptop. Don t cover all HARD drive with just one make smallholders and attach the HARD drive in place.

I did it on my old L300.

    Hello

What caddy do you need exactly?
A USB 2.5 HDD caddy external in order to connect the laptop s HARD drive to a USB port?

As far as I know that the laptop supports SATA 2.5 HDD so you will need a SATA USB caddy.

  • HP 250 G4: HARD Drive Caddy

    Hi guys.

Is it safe to install a hard drive of my laptop case?

I upgraded my hhd with a Sandisk SSD 240 GB, but I need more space to store my work.

I want to install the caddy on DVD - RW SATA Slot.

    Thank you!

I guess it may be. You should check with your manual of products first and speak to a representative of HP.

However, Newmodeus makes SSD/HDD caddies for the model of your product. I don't see why they would at less than its safe to do so.

    I hope this helps.

  • HARD drive caddy gets stuck into the Ultrabay slot. T510.

I bought myself a caddy of SATA hard drive on ebay (Yes, a knockoff of one) and put it in the ultrabay with an SSD inside housing (the plan was to clone my current drive for the SSD and then put the SSD into the slot of the readers later). The caddy went fine, but now it just won't come out. I push the release switch and try to push the second switch upward, but it is completely stuck in there...

My first plan was to remove the keyboard and just take a look to see if there's anything obviously wrong. This plan was stopped when one of the screws holding the keyboard in place was too tight, and they are really small screws. I didn't try not more scared to round the screw head.

If at this point, I'm probably going to have to send walking back to Lenovo and ask them to disassemble the laptop to get that thing. Until I do that, someone has ideas or ideas on what could be done?

  • 2nd drive HARD drive caddy optical Bay - Pavilion dv6700

    Hello world

I hope someone here can help with that, because I'm out of ideas...

I've recently updated the primary drive of my laptop dv6700 (dv6820es) with an SSD. I did a new install of Win_7_32 and there is no problem at all.

But this record is not that great, so I decided to plug in the SATA HARD disk-old through the optical drive Bay in order to have the storage capacity. For this, I ordered a SATA-to-PATA caddy that fits perfectly.

The big problem now is to make this combination of work:

    • Behavior of the BIOS: it is difficult to say if the BIOS detects the drive properly, as long as this model of the BIOS is pretty poor in the configuration/information options. In any case, when I press F9 with the 2nd HARD drive plugged in, a new startup option appears as well as the SSD and is listed as "7. Notebook hard drive. The HARD drive is spinning too. Because of what I guess that the BIOS detects, at least, 'something' (but again, I can't tell if the HARD drive as it is or just some unknown decive). Moreover, the BIOS is updated to the latest available version: l58 A.
    • Behavior of Windows: for what I can see, Windows behaves as if the reader was not there. Nothing in the "Device Manager" and nothing in the "Disk Manager", just the SSD drive is detected. With one exception, in one of the restarts a lot I did the player that presented themselves. The usual text bubble said 'installation disk... ". ", and apparently it installed fine. After installation, there was this new IDE drive "" under "Drives" in the "Windows Device Manager". Well, it seems to work! But unfortunately, I've seen my hopes be disappointed in the next step, when you try to initialize the drive through the "Disk Manager". First of all, it took a long time (like 4-5 minutes) with the program that 'think', finally launch one of these errors of the infamous 'cyclic redundancy. I rebooted, but the player was not there yet. And he never showed up again, just this time.

Sad thing is that I can't tell what makes the difference. I updated some things like the drivers of Intel chip, Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver (not really necessary, I suppose, but just in case)... throughout this process. But in fact nothing in particular time it almost worked.

My ATA drivers are the most recent available for my chipset AHCI. Is there a driver I'm missing? Is there an impossibility for the 2nd HDD (PATA) to work with the SSD works in AHCI mode?

Well, I think it's all (sorry for the long post). Maybe someone has endured/solved a similar problem.

    Please share your knowledge

    Hi Erico,

Sorry for the confusion of information.

The HARD drive is a SATA drive and the optical drive is a PATA drive, so I used a caddy SATA-PATA. Something like that:

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&cPath=2_5&products_id=226

(Although the one I ordered is not the manufacturer)

Whereas, although the HARD drive is a SATA drive, it should be detected as a PATA one. Is it possible to make interfaces SATA AHCI as PATA work together? Is not in this case. Need a motherboard very ethusiast and advanced BIOS level.

[Edit: the chipset is, moreover, of the Mobile Intel 965 Express Family.]

Perhaps that the liaison has a cable better than purchased translation Setup. A lot of people seem to be satisfied with it.

The physical connection of hard disks must be of the same type for the reason that I expressed in my previous post, unless there is a translation of the work cable between SATA and PATA.

If your laptop has a double drive Bay and you have installed the drive in the Bay with a caddy and cable SATA cononector it would be simple.

  • HP Compaq Presario V5000 Hard drive caddy missing

Good day everyone, my father bought a Compaq Presario V5000 to a garage sale and sent it here in the Philippines. to the arrival of the package, I tried to run the laptop, but diagnoses in bios option said that there is no HARD drive installed. subsequently done I discovered that not only the HARD drive broke, but the caddy was missing as well. is it advisable to use a newly purchased HARD drive without the caddy? Another question, about the specified capacity and speed, acoorcing to the specifications listed in the internet, this unit can handle up to 120 GB of HARD disk, at 4200 RPM / min. that explains why the Windows XP Setup program said that there wasn't any see hard drives when I tried to use a larger HARD drive capacity? What speed? Let's say I have a 120 GB HARD drive but speed is 5400 RPM, will it still work? Thank you very much

  • HP dv 7 search for 4050ea HARD drive caddy

    Hello

I know this has been asked several times, but the number of different carts for different ranges of HP laptops out there scares me, so I decided to ask.

I want to add a second hard drive on my laptop Pavilion dv7 4050ea. However, I am not sure what cart models are compatible. The best match that I have found is:

    http://UK.eetnordic.com/product.aspx?ID=KIT340&path=MicroStorage-2nd-HDD-Caddy-cable-for-HP

I still don't know if it is just right, and I don't know the site then I hesitate.

So, can someone here possibly help me know what caddy I need to buy and if possible, direct me to a trustworthy site that ships to the United Kingdom or Greece? It would be possible to order this part directly at HP and if so, where?

    Thank you.

This looks OK, but I have more experience with newmodeus.com:

We had several Forum users report success with this part on the dv7-4000 second hard drive Bay.
