I have a pavilion dv6000. Does not start a hard drive after a Microsoft system until recently. Laptop was working fine before. All can help me it is worth investing on the new hard drive and I have to buy a new copy of windows and office?

If you have a set of recovery discs, you can quite happily use these to reinstall the operating system on the new hard drive.  The same is true if you have the disk key and the installation of MS Office activation.

    A warning to SMART disk error can appear for various reasons such as having been jarred abruptly computer or hard drive, be subject to the higher than usual temperature.

    Perform HP hard drive - wide test of the system BIOS Diagnostics shortly after switching on, tapping F10/F2

    If there are any Smart player or hard failure error you see, Hard Drive is a failure and the solution is to replace the drive.

    It seems that the error means what it says - the hard drive has gone bad and should be replaced.

    I highly recommend that you only backup your data to another drive immediately and then contact Dell for confirmation about the error and advice on the best course of action.

    my laptop has recently a few teething problems, either when the bios starts (led will blink twice), either during the loading of Windows. The problem seems to happen especially the first time that I turn it on during the day, when I try 6-10 times before starting properly.

    I get a msg when I first log on.  "Imminate hard drive failure", essentially a warning to my HD is endangered...  I heard that there is a patch or fix for this error.  Honestly, I don't think that there is nothing wrong with this drive.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  Tim

    The Smart 301 error would indicate that your hard drive is defective and must be replaced.

    This error message occurs when the system could not read and write data to the registry file. The error indicates a problem with the registry.

    Method 1:

    You can run a Checkdisk to see if there are drive errors that can cause this problem.

    Check your hard drive for errors

    Note: When you run the disk check, there is a chance of losing the data that you can take a backup of important data before you run checkdisk.

    Method 2:

    You can also try to boot from a full version of Windows Vista installation disc and try to perform a restore of the system to WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment)

    In my opinion, you should back up all the data as quickly as possible. In the worst case you could HARD drive might completely die and then you are not able to save the data on it.

    After that you should swap the HARD drive. It s depending on the model of HARD drive you buy how much it will cost but drives hard are not so dear to our days. I think that it will be possible to get one for 50 Euros.

    What is my problem?

    Whenever you get an error message with 24 characters alphanumeric numbers indicating that the hard drive needs to be replaced to solve the problem

    Could be due to the Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, improper stops, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power sudden, so portable falls etc...

    HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

    Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

    Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:
    Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.
    Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds
    Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)
    Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

    If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

    If the problem persists again please contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

    Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA Adapter USB with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.

  • Hard drive failure? Is it hopeless?

    I need help with my computer. It is a HP Pavilion p6510y desktop PC, running on Windows 7. I fear failure real hard drive, but I hope that I contracted a nasty virus and can somehow get rid of it and find my computer. It has been down for more than a year. Shortly after, I started to have messages from the computer saying that I had a hard drive failure. I bought an external hard drive, made a comeback to the top, then performed a system recovery. After that, my computer fails to start. I don't remember what I did (it's been a year or more now), but I managed to get it to start, go to identify and exploit, load and after a time interval (no specific time. Sometimes it lasts ten minutes, sometimes he can walk for an hour) the Tower gets very strong (maybe fan? I hope not the hard drive, but I don't even know if they make sounds?) and the blue screen on the photo above appears with the sound.

    Possible other factors: I have a son who loves quite turn the computer off mid-treatment. Until my computer started failing, he managed to do this several times. He also likes the machine moving, then maybe that the hard drive is damaged if it was shaken during writing(terminology?).

    The results of your tests indicate that the hard disk has failed and that it would need to be replaced.  Backup your data before it goes completely.  Did you create recovery discs when you got the computer, otherwise you can order them from services the customer of HP:
