Hard drive failure / security of Windows 7 update cause?

Hey everybody. I'll try to keep this brief. Long story short, I got random shut off for about 2 months and we try to find the problem. Recently, I just replaced the motherboard, and because these are my 2 power problems. Just before we have replaced the. My hard drive has worked very well. But now, we think that my drive broke down. Because my car does not start, sometimes on startup Windows and accidents but my father got a hard drive from a laptop broken in the street and the computer starts without a problem. We have a new album on the way. But how do I get my windows 7 out of it. I always have my product key. My father read the Windows 7 security update was causing this issue? If anyone can help me, thank you, I really just need to know if/how to get my Windows 7 in the new drive or if it is possible to get all the data there. thanks to all.

If the new motherboard does not have a processor and chip set identical or nearly identical, your Windows installation may not work due to an incompatible Abstraction Layer HAL.  The HAL is customized during the original installation.  Some backup software can do a restore to a different system, but it's a different situation than to try to use your player in this way.

If your installation of Windows is OEM which also triggers a license problem and cannot be transferred to a different motherboard.

Data can be recovered by using a bootable operating system or connection to a drive to another computer by USB or directly. This mechanism can also be used to retrieve data.

I feel for your message, it would be preferable for you to get professional help with your computer.

    Hello

My hard drive crashed into kind of a big passage, and I got a new drive installed under warranty. When I bought the laptop, I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro immediately and now I hope that I can somehow have my 'new' Windows 7 hard disk upgraded again to Windows 8 Pro as it was before WITHOUT all the hassle.
    Is this possible?
    See you soon.

Go to the order summary page, you can find your product key:

  • HARD drive failure, I would like to know how to get Windows 7 return on it.

Hello everyone, I had a HARD drive problem lately, but before moving on to describe my problem, here are the specifications of my laptop:

    HP Pavilion dv6 - 3264-ca

    AMD Dual-Core 2.2 Ghz processor

    6 GB OF RAM

    128 MB ATI graphics card

    750 GB Toshiba HDD

    Windows 7 64 bit

    The question:

Recently, I had a HARD drive failure very unhappy. The recovery partition is not even load. I tried to boot my laptop with Linux with the HARD drive always attached, and it would not read. I pulled the HARD drive and placed in a box drive HARD and he would not yet be supported on Windows XP or Vista or 7. However, it would read in Windows Device Manager as well as in the BIOS.

I need to extract some data priority there so I managed to recover all my data safe with a data recovery service, but now the drive is rendered useless. I was told a low-level format might be able to help him to be usable again, and if that were to happen, would then disappear the recovery partition in the process.

In addition, I would like to install Windows 7 64 bit on the disk, but the box your laptop came with an installation CD, which is quite frustrating. Is he that sort of HP can let me download Windows 7 through any warranty service?

I have a one year warranty on my laptop.

In closing, I would like to know if I can get back Windows 7 on my HARD drive for free, or if I have to go to buy new Windows 7.

All the tips of your kind people?

    Hello

    Here are two options.

    1. if you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit it is the version of exact details you need.

If you do not access to the retail drives, you can create an installation disk yourself - just download good picture disc from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/Download-Windows-7-ISO-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-link...

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key is located on the underside of your laptop when asked and once installation is complete, use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want just a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally delivered with OEM Windows installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

Additional drivers, you may need can be found here.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - these costs about $30 if you live in the United States.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

I upgraded my card mother cpu ram and hard drive. I reinstalled windows xp home edition has got all of the updates. After 9 latest updates download and installtion was going well until I rebooted the computer and go to page window showing all the icons that I get a blue screen and the computer restarts its self and does not stop. How can this be corrected?

    Hi KevinRy,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    Unplug all external devices.

Try to start in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, and then do a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time.

Change the recovery settings to disable automatic reboot, if you are able to boot up to the desktop computer:

    1.

Right-click my computerand then click Properties.

    2.

    Click the Advanced tab.

    3.

Under Startup and recovery, click settings to open the Startup and recovery dialog box.

    4.

Clear the automatically restart check box, and then click OK many times necessary.

    5.

Restart your computer so that the settings take effect.

Now, when you are going to close and a fatal error occurs, you will see at least and it won't cause an automatic restart.

Please reply back with the error message you get because it helps us to resolve the error.

    Kind regards

    Please help me!

    Hi Carolinelightfoot,

This error message occurs when the system could not read and write data to the registry file. The error indicates a problem with the registry.

    Method 1:

You can run a Checkdisk to see if there are drive errors that can cause this problem.

Check your hard drive for errors

Note: When you run the disk check, there is a chance of losing the data that you can take a backup of important data before you run checkdisk.

    Method 2:

You can also try to boot from a full version of Windows Vista installation disc and try to perform a restore of the system to WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment)

What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Satellite L655D-011-HDD/SSD Alert, HARD drive failure?

I have an old L655D-011 of 6 months and yesterday it started to appear with the message to back up my files because there is a problem with my HARD drive. Well, after having a technical support in the past, I don't give that easily and simply run my laptop to the nearest authorized service center. Instead, I help out.

I did the BIOS update finally. No change in question.
Finally had time to create a recovery media. No problem with that at all.
I reformatted. No change in question.
Checked the health monitor. It shows that my HARD drive is "good". Yet, when I double-click the icon, I get a pop - up with the following message:

    "Toshiba HDD/SSD Alert."

    Disk0

Your HARD drive is SMART failure to predict which monitors the status of operation of the HARD drive. Your HARD drive is facing a problem and CHIP controlling the software predicts that the HARD drive will fail. Toshiba strongly recommends that you create a back-up to the date of your HARD drive. Contact an authorized service provider to check your drive and buy a new replacement if necessary. »

So, after that I decided to run a CHKDSK /f /r. Result: 'windows replaced bad clusters in file name \hiberfil.sys 44990.'

I should be good to go, right? N ° same problem with the precaution of backing up my files.

But this isn't good, is it? If my HARD drive is about to fail why monitor health show that everything is "good"? There is no problem with gel, pxe.boot errors, rattling disc, unusual vibrations or read/write failures.

So, my questions (after all the above and see other threads to ask questions about HARD drive failure messages) are: were there any known issues where the SMART software does not work correctly? Are failure drives hard all from the same manufacturer (I've seen this happen - get a bad batch of a single manufacturer HARD drive)? The health monitor working correctly?

In my opinion your questions cannot be answered simply.
    > Are there any known issues where the SMART software does not work correctly?
How many people must confirm that they have the same problem? I guess this happens from time to time, but you cannot say that this problem is known.
You will always find people who noticed the same issue and not on Toshiba forum only, but on all the forums where people discuss cell phones in general.
    > Is the disk failure hard all from the same manufacturer (I've seen this happen - get a bad batch of a single manufacturer HARD drive)?
How to check or confirm this?

You know, during the first backup all your important data, watch carefully what happens the next few days. If the info appears again and again, contact the nearest service Toshiba and let them Exchange the HARD drive.
The guarantee is valid and it will be free of charge.

  • Hard drive failure? Is it hopeless?

I need help with my computer. It is a HP Pavilion p6510y desktop PC, running on Windows 7. I fear failure real hard drive, but I hope that I contracted a nasty virus and can somehow get rid of it and find my computer. It has been down for more than a year. Here is a picture of a blue screen, I get:

So a little history on the situation: I bought this for College, I thought back to the fall of ' 09, but the release date on the specifications said 10 may therefore in any event, the model is around 4 years. I was not and am still not a computer person. I now learn exponentially, but as a younger kid, I've been remiss. I've ever used antispyware, malware, or antivirus prevention, preventing the security provided with the computer, I doubt that I've never used any protection.

I also lost my manuals, disks, etc. Once again, carefree.

Around a year ago, my computer started to act weird. I turned it on one day to see all my pictures have disappeared! Turns out that they were only hidden, so that made me think that it was a virus or malicious software affecting the computer. Shortly after, I started to have messages from the computer saying that I had a hard drive failure. I bought an external hard drive, made a comeback to the top, then performed a system recovery. After that, my computer fails to start. I don't remember what I did (it's been a year or more now), but I managed to get it to start, go to identify and exploit, load and after a time interval (no specific time. Sometimes it lasts ten minutes, sometimes he can walk for an hour) the Tower gets very strong (maybe fan? I hope not the hard drive, but I don't even know if they make sounds?) and the blue screen on the photo above appears with the sound.

Possible other factors: I have a son who loves quite turn the computer off mid-treatment. Until my computer started failing, he managed to do this several times. He also likes the machine moving, then maybe that the hard drive is damaged if it was shaken during writing(terminology?).

What computer knowledge can I? Very few things. I've been looking to start. I learned that a hard disk is a metal disc on which data are recorded by a small arm. It makes me nervous that the machine has been handled carelessly and the disc (or discs?) are damaged.

I'm a continuous search, my next step is to download the manuals from hp for the computer to browse it for error codes and see if I can determine the issue, which is just something that I read is possible online.

If I can fix this thing myself, I want to. I am determined. I'm eager to learn. I am not aware of the systems and parts currently, but with basic descriptions that I can learn. I have not understand the complex jargon, so in the answers please use simplified terms and specific actions or provide detailed explanations so that I can grasp concepts more complex and intermediate.

Hi Tessla, welcome to the forum.

The results of your tests indicate that the hard disk has failed and that it would need to be replaced.  Backup your data before it goes completely.  Did you create recovery discs when you got the computer, otherwise you can order them from services the customer of HP:

    Drive hard SMART test failed

    ID GLQ3J0-65V838-MFPX0J-60C403 failure

What it means? I also get messages on Windows 7 hard disk failure is imminent. What is in fact a hard drive failure?

The problems started after system restore to a point previous (5 days ago) after downloading some updates of the site Web HP that have been identified as relevant, but caused freezes, which is why the restoration to the previous point. Still trying to get an idea of the problem areas. Most things work very well, but Windows Media Player does not properly is the most obvious fault so far. More I bought a new external hard drive to perform the emergency backup, but it is not recognized when I plug. It is however grateful already used very happy memory sticks.

I'm likely to have a real failure, or is a false reading because things did not settle down properly after the system restore?

I am not technically very advanced - perhaps at the limit of my understanding so simple popular suggestions/instructions.

Thanks for all those who have followed this demand. Problem solved - I took it to a local repair shop in the end. While I could probably physically replace the drive myself quite easily, I wanted the confidence of an expert to provide the correct replacement and manages the much larger task to transfer everything at the latest so that I can resume normal with all that where it should be.

  • Hard drive failure is imminent and must be replaced

    HP TouchSmart 610-1020 has

    i5 6 GB RAM 64 bit

    Windows 7 Home Edition Premium--> Windows 8

Hi there, since a terrible week for me I started to receive the error message:

Hard drive failure is imminent and must be replaced

only when am re - / from my PC.

I made a backup already a few days ago (space available was already 85% - did not much), run all those disk cleanup, defragmentation, analyze and verify programs and there was nothing wrong. I ran all possible controls and it had nothing recorded. I've updated / installed Windows 8 which works perfectly without any problems, no computer crash or that it is, but only sometimes receive a message saying that I need to run/shedule a back, etc.

As I already mentioned, there was no disk error, no other problems known but still get the message "hard drive failure is imminent and should be replaced" and crazy!

    My questions are:

    (1) what on Earth is happening, there is always a problem with touch smart PC; should he stay away all in a desktop PC and just buy older versions - separate screen and tour, etc.?

    (2) I have no problem and continue to use my PC but wonder what will happen; It will be down, it's just a false error message, what should I do?

    (3) if I have to take it to a service, what should I take care of?

Thank you for taking your time and wil appreciate for your posts about.

    Hello

What has happened is that the CHIP system reports told you that your hard drive will fail little time. It is good that you have saved.  The fault lies not in all of your PC, but in a single component, namely the hard disk. You own your PC like one year standard warranty is longer.

You need to buy a hard drive with the following specifications. It of time to find your recovery disc as you need to recover your PC in its delivered State and then apply the upgrade 8 to win again. You can install it yourself or have done by a qualified PC store or from an HP Service Technician. The HP service center is the most expensive option.

You can avoid having to use the recovery disk and upgrade by a clone of your hard drive on a 1.5 TB external drive. You will be able to migrate the clone on the new diskette with a product commercially available as Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12.

    • Size: 1.5 to
  • hard drive failure

I recently tried to upgrade to el capitan in yosemite. He failed during the installation process, and now, whenever I boot my mac need me in disk utility. I can't erase, restore, Mount/unmount my osx partition. I took it to the store, they checked, and it was the hard drive failure. IM wondering how I can run windows on it. I can boot into window normally and everthing worked.

    MacBook pro early 2011

Windows is located on its own partition, and if your Mac partition is damaged in any way it is not part of the windows installation.

If an authorized service apple tells you to replace the drive, you will need to back up your windows partition with something else than Time Machine, if it's not an a separate physical disk.

  • Satellite A210 - 1 4 - possible signs of a hard drive failure

    Hello

I use a Toshiba Satellite A210 - 1 4 and think that the hard drive may be showing signs of failure.

    _The symptoms are: _

    * While the Windows 7 boot frequently stops at 'Starting Windows' screen (before the Windows logo appeared) and all HARD drive activity stops meaning a hard reset is necessary to bring him back.

    * When I unplug the power cord on Windows 7, the computer freezes usually with nothing happens and stop any HARD drive activity, once again a hard reset is required to bring back to life.

What are these early signs of HARD drive failure or is there something else wrong?

    Hey Buddy,

For me it doesn t look like the HARD drive malfunction if Windows 7 stops when starting or freezes when you unplug the AC adapter

Have you already tried to reinstall the operating system? It could be the software problem.

If you still want to check your drive HARD uses a disk HARD Drive Fitness Test as a diagnostic tool. It s freeware so you can find it if you search on Google.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline S5: Internal HARD drive failure, PC does not start

The splash screen has shown this message:

1720-SMART hard detects an imminent failure

Due to lack of player: SATA0

    Failed attributes: # 05

I have several questions about this:

    1. Is it only caused by HARD drive failure? I want to replace it myself, but I don't really know if there are other parts to replace. Or it will be better to bring it to the computer shop to do carefully check?
    2. I can replace it with Seagate Barracuda 3.5 "(7200 RPM, 1 TB, SATA 3 or 6)? I think that the current HARD drive is Hitachi.
    3. I still need to transfer Windows OEM once the HARD drive is replaced?

    Thanks in advance.

According to the packing of the Seagate, it might come with the software.  But if it is OEM drive then found the software by clicking HERE.  In general, I use a USB adapter for hard drive to clone if the PC will not support an additional drive.  Given that a number of incomplete model for the PC, it is difficult to find accurate info, but the Pavilion Slimline S5 I checked all have a motherboard with additional SATA ports.  Just have a spare SATA cable and power on the power port and try the cloning software.  Make sure that the drive is not touch a conductive element.  Usually, I place the additional reader on a cardboard box.

Install the new drive as a replacement for the existing drive and connect everything as it is now.  Then connect the old drive in the manner discussed.  Boot from the CD created with cloning tools.  If the old drive is cloned stll, then when the software is finished, remove the old drive connections to see if the drive can start the computer.  If this is not successful, try to run the recovery screen (F11) BIOS boot manager.  If that does not work, use the Recovery DVD set brand when the computer was new.  If you did this, or lost them, then see THATto order a series.

You can simply install the new disk, then start on a key USB W10 and install the operating system without a key, then when you get on the desktop, it should activate.

Or clone the old disk to a usning new Macrium reflect free, then install the new disk, but if the reader fails it cannot establish so well.

You can make the USB stick using this tool from Microsoft, you will need a 8 GB or more great drive flash usb, or you can make an ISO file and then burn it to DVD.

    Hello

    Do a hard reset first.
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01684768

The SMART drive test produces a prediction on the risk of hard drive failure, not a real failure.

A warning to SMART disk error can appear for various reasons such as having been jarred abruptly computer or hard drive, be subject to the higher than usual temperature.

Perform HP hard drive - wide test of the system BIOS Diagnostics shortly after switching on, tapping F10/F2

If there are any Smart player or hard failure error you see, Hard Drive is a failure and the solution is to replace the drive.

It would also be very wise to make sure that you back up all your files etc as soon as possible.

It works somewhat like the Iomega software former.
