Hard drive switch

Hello, I have a 135 GB HDD I'll replace it with a 250 GB hard drive. I was wondering if I pass this before doing the upgrade I get it still or I have to do after the upgrade? I use a laptop.

Hello

If I understand you correctly, you want to know that if you replace the old HDD with a new one, you are able to upgrade to Windows 10 or not. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you already have reserve 10 Windows on the Windows 7 computer, then you will not have to book it again. As a reservation of 10 windows on the the media access control (MAC ID) your computer. This reserve is computer specific.

If you have the book yet, you can book it by following the steps mentioned in the article below.

Upgrade to Windows 10 for free

Hope that the information provided is useful. Let us know if you have questions related to Windows, we will be happy to help you.

Kind regards

    Hello!

As far as I know the laptop is equipped with IDE HDD's. This means that there is a limitation of LBA 28 bits and you can use up to 128 GB s HDD.
If the upgrade to a 120 GB model should work fine.

You can buy a disk of each production, but I have good experiences with Hitachi and Seagate hard drives.

  • Acer aspire switch 10F / I don't see hard drive

Hi, today I got a new acer aspire switch 10F. I live in Poland, but I bought the acer in the United Kingdom.

So I turn on the acer and I see acer have 10 windows. I check 'This PC' and I do not see a HARD 500 G 0.o disk, only 32GB. I thought I have a version without the HARD drive, but have all versions. The keyboard/dock is heavy, so I think that hdd is in the keyboard, but windows can't see HDD.

    This is screen printing:

    In disk management.

Maybe I don't have some drivers?

    Please help than kyou

    Hello

Yes, yours is not equipped with a HARD drive. Last year, I have evaluated a similar model (only 32 GB mem) and have not found the dock Ko was very heavy. The message, in my view, that it comes to USB ports (e.g. plugged USB flash drive).

  • How can I find the hard drive in my Acer Aspire 10.1 switch keyboard docking station?

My Acer Aspire 10.1 switch was sold with an additional 500 GB HDD in the keyboard. But the drive only extra hard (except C :) I can find in Explorer's "recovery (D :) ", but this is ony 32 GB, but it goes away when I remove the keyboard, so it is in the keyboard. At the start of the computer there is certainly a hard drive of sound from the keyboard, so there is something in there. OS is Win 8.1.

the 500 GB HARD drive is on the keyboard, so if you disconnect Switch10, you lose the remote storage.

You can check it in disk management:

Logo of the Windows key + x

    Click on disk management

It will be all avilable storage the list, in order to check if the HDD 500 GB is there and if it is listed as unallocated space.

  • internal hard drives within the switching apparatus

Switching of the internal hard drives in the machine. I have two internal hard drives, C and E of clarification and I replaced my C Seagate 360 with a TB Western Digital because of this hard disk failure false I bought, which I'm sure were a corporate scam to buy more stuff that is really unnecessary. My question is "how to pass these. My HP Pavilion Elite m9150f going in stupid mode on 3 to 5 times a year and I have to do a recovery and I found that doing the hard, it is happening in stupid mode in a very short time. I found is from the CD that it takes a little more, but the best way is to erase completely and reformat the hard drive and then do a clean install, so he prevents her from stupid mode for awhile, this one lasted 4 months but like you have probably understood it's time to do it again. However, as you know it takes 3 times as long to reformat TB as it does a 360 GB drive, so it's the root of my question. I have all my stuff on the E-Drive SG360 for backup, note here backup on this PC has never worked so I don't bother with the so-called machines back to top I just copy stuff I want to record on the E drive and make the ol' copy ' and paste to restore everything. Now because of the time it takes to reformat drive C TB I want to make the switch. Is it as simple as just their switching and pulling the PC with the recovery discs factory to perform RECOVERY and do my usual copy and paste of the Western Digital to now, E-Drive?

Please someone with the know let me know

    Thank you very much, RickS

Aparently, you can not RESPOND to your own message.

No one answered so I went ahead and did it. Lost all learned but a lot on the partitioning of hard disks and all together, in addition to becoming the hard drive back to R & R until less than 6 minutes time to unplug the PC at the rear, turn 05:53, my best so far. but she is back to being usable was a day and a half.

The answer to the question is when you put that there is nothing usable at all because the PC looking for the OS and boot any disk has. I had to start player, I chose so that I could erase and reformat the C drive and run the installation of the OS. Once he was done with that I had to choose again which drive start so I could erase and reformat the drive E then he would leave goes to the starting window when I turned it on.

Simple answer is not a. Read above.

  • A mechanical hard drive of switching to a solid state HD

    Members of the Forum,

I have no experience in doing this, but I am considering upgrading the hard drive in my X220s (7465 model) to an SSD, hoping the upgrade will increase the speed of the system.

    I ask advice and opinions:

    1. I have several Windows 7 programs and data using about 50% of the current unit.  How I would transfer current programs and data from the HARD drive for the future SSD?  The complexity is the transfer?

    2. the laptop is stored on a Windows Home Server.  Restore on WHS will install the operating system and programs on the SSD?

    2. the effort would be useful I would realize a really noticeable change in performance that is worth the effort and expenditure.  The low-voltage 2.26 GHz processor used in the X200s is not the fastest on the block.

I don't know how easy it'll be to clone your the one existing for the new SSD.  There is a software that does - I think Newegg gives you something for free if you buy one of the Intel SSD.

Otherwise, you can do like I did when I upgraded to an SSD. New Windows 7 install and reinstall all my existing software disc, either via download.

The speed bump is worth it in my opinion – it seems that the readers of Intel (X 25 line) are still at the very top of the list of quality and performance by a long shot (and not much more expensive than the other options out there).  AnandTech and Tomshardware have good primers on the SSD market and what to keep in mind if you prepare the switch.

My good experience with putting a small SSD in my office made me out here, I'll only buy machines configured with SSDS.

  • Switching hard drives - urgent.

I just bought a HP DV7-1450US laptop with the intention of changing the hard drive of my HP Dv2000 which has a burned screen (which currently holds my school papers) in the news.  Now I call HP and they say they won't help me with hard around switching drives unless I'm paying $60 AFTER THAT other employees have said they would be happy to help with switching hard drives, and they said, it would be easy to "work through it."  I don't know squat about computers, and I won't be $700 (or $ 760) in the hole, because technical support can't get their message right. Are really interchangeable hard drives, as HP claims, or they're lying, basically?  They said that it was extremely simple and common practice.

Yes, you can switch the hard drives, but if you put the dv2000 only in the dv7 is not likely to start or function correctly as primary drive.

How to get the hard drive out of the dv2000

There is a caddy (sled) and a connector plastic disk hard dv2000 and you will need to remove them before you can use it in anything else.

The dv7 allows a 2nd hard drive which is just data storage. Windows is not running. Just put the dv2000 drive in the drive Bay hard 2d empty on the dv7. As indicated earlier, he must strip the dv2000 by car down to its core feature until you can put it in the dv7.

    Dv7 manual

Look at the Page 56 of Chapter 4. You remove a large flat plastic down with several screws. The inside is empty hard disk Bay. Connect the drive hard naked dv2000 in the SATA connectors in the open Bay dv7. Now, put the cover back on. It's temporary. If you plan to use 2 hard drives in the dv7 permanently you need a second drive enclosure hard dv7 but just a temporary file transfer, you are lucky that the dv7 has regular old SATA connectors and you don't have a trolley or a connector to connect a second hard drive for just a temporary thing. Now return the laptop and fire. the disk hard dv2000 should appear in my computer as a new drive applied as probably 'E '. Just open upward and find and drag and drop your files (documents from the school) for this drive in the primary drive and you are back in business.

  • Help with hard drives and the "switch" statement

    All the

I was wondering if you could please help? It's probably more to do with "powershell" than powercli but are... What I'm trying to achieve is the ability to create a function that runs through all my VM - counts the number of hard drives by VM - crosses EACH hard drive and gives me the ability of each of them. He then returns to a csv file (which iknow how to do). The segment below is pretty well what I want, but I was wondering if there was a way to reduce the amount of code! I tried using a foreach statement, but got stuck (PS - the maximum number of hard drives of our virtual machines can have is 5)

I'm just using a switch statement, because that is what I "thought" answered the problem. However if there is a way I could get the same result without so much 'code' that would be ideal.

    Switch ($vm.harddisks.length) {}

    ($vm.harddisks.length - eq. 1) {

Are the backup CD Win 7 those that you made at the beginning when you got the original computer?

What new MB do you have?  Have you tried a bootable CD or a bootable USB key?

HP and other PC manufacturers are looking for their id MB and will not install their backups if the system configuration is not that they support.  For example, when I tried to update my bureau a6600f from Vista to Windows 7, could not to restore the MB chipset drivers without reinstalling Vista, Win 7 is not a supported configuration, even if it worked, (a little).

If the new MB chipset is not the same as HP Holly MB, the new chipset MB drivers are probably incompatible with the chipset drivers windows 7 HP.

One solution would be to get another hard drive, install win7 (commercial version) on the new drive with appropriate drivers and use the original drive to move or transfer files from.

There are commercial products, Disk Image, I think and perhaps Spotmau Pro and Fix - it Utilities (everything I have boot CD, I used with varying degrees of success) which will start from their own operating system and allow you to exclude almost everything to another drive, but if you try to move everything, you can end up with the wrong drivers or a bad registry.

Remember that pilots must be compatible with the hardware of the device, or you will have problems.  Most manufacturers make special versions chipset and firmware drivers, depending on what types of problems that they find in the testing of a new product.  The chipset drivers may or may not work the same as a result.

You have a lot of work waiting for you if you do not have a replacement motherboard from Holly, I'm afraid, and supported by the manufacturer will not apply unless the configurations are compatible with their original products supported.

  • How to switch my system on a larger hard drive without having to reinstall the OS and lose my data?

    replace the hard drive

I'm looking to replace my hard drive but I need all the files it is about it, passing a small hard drive to a larger hard drive. My question is how can I save all the files on the disk and how can I get the operating system on the new hard drive without the original disk

If your current system does not work, there is no need to bother with data backup, installation of applications and get a Windows XP installation CD (although regular backups are important to do as a general practice).

Instead, clone your current hard drive to your new hard drive.  All you need is an external hard drive enclosure and disk cloning software.  In addition, once you have made sure that everything works correctly, put the old drive in the external box and use it for backups.

Some of the cloning apps below are also disk 'images' (e.g. Acronis True Image).  A disk image can be compressed so that, for example 58 GB of data can produce a 40 GB image file.  Some of the apps, and of also can selectively backup specified files.

The housings of external drives more to connect to a USB port.  Make sure just that buy you one with the good 'form factor' (portable = 2.5 inches, computer desktop/Tower = 3.5 inches) and internal drive connector.  Many but not all speakers can deal with SATA and PATA time.

This example (for laptops) is not the less expensive external hard drive enclosure, but it's a decent case that can be used with either SATA or IDE (PATA) drives and comes with its own software package of cloning: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817155602

It is a very good buy for a drive IDE (PATA) Office size: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817155602

In general, Newegg is a good place for your search options by looking at the comments by users.

If you have a Western Digital hard drive, you can get a version of Acronis True Image free of WD (http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119) or you can get the software of cloning separately (this is not an exhaustive list and in no particular order, some are free, some not):

Paragon Drive Copy or Partition Manager Personal
    Casper

    Hello

Step 1: Connect an external hard drive (before iPod conneting or any other external device) and then check if the G drive letter is assigned. If the G drive letter is already used by any other device, then it cannot be attributed to other devices.

Step 2: If none of the devices are using the G drive letter and then try to change the drive letter.
